Disappointed in seven dwarfs mine ride!

You are too late, the Texas Cyclone at Astroworld is gone. Along with it's 60" height requirement for the back rows. Only 5 feet, but the highest requirement I've ever seen.

There's a coaster in Wisconsin Dells that you have to be over 18 to sit in the back row.

When we rode it my DD claimed she "saw Jesus sitting in the row in front of her" was her comment when we got off :rotfl2:

I once went on a coaster (I think it was at Six Flags Magic Mt) where they didn't allow single riders in the back row. I was the odd man in our group and wanted to ride in the back row but they didn't allow me.

No attraction will please 100% of guests, not in any Disney park, not at Universal, not at Six Flags, or at the county fair. Everyone has different tastes . I do not enjoy thrill rides, personally. Once on Everest was more than enough for me! However, I was not disappointed when Everest was placed in the park. I accept that not everything is designed for my idea of fun.
I am just excited that there is something new for us to experience this year. While some of the family rides EE or TOT, I am more than happy to hold their backpacks for them while I sit on a nice stable bench. When they roll their eyes when I ride POC one more time, it doesnt bother me a bit. Each of has different tastes. You will never convince me that thrill rides are the way to go, anymore than you will convince others that rides like 7DMT are the best.;)

I have not ridden in yet, but from YouTube I am disappointed. I don't want a thrill ride either. But perhaps more themed, like POC, HM, or
SW. and longer please!

I think the disappointment is in the general lack of innovation at WDW in the last 5 years. DLR got Cars Land, with a true E-ticket (even if largely a Test Track clone) in Radiator Springs Racers, a few more rides, and great theming. In that time, Universal's gotten WWoHP, Springfield, it's getting the WWoHP expansion this year, the Transformers ride, and probably a few things I've left out. WDW got...New Fantasyland and a few reskinnings of major rides (Star Tours 2, Test Track). New Fantasyland was supposed to be the answer to WWoHP, but it's at most comparable to Springfield, despite taking 3-4 years to finish.

And during all that time, WDW has been active, but it's all in ways to get people to spend more money. New hard ticket events (Harambe Nights), new small plate restaurants at Epcot. and of course MagicBands. And in the process, Disney is closing or ruining beloved attractions (Imagination, Wonders of Life, most of what made the Backlot Tour worth riding).

To answer the "well, just go to Universal!" complaint, I like Disney's properties and style better in general (though the Simpsons and HP are nice). Transformers may be the greatest dark ride of the decade, but it's still a Transformers ride :) And it's even more frustrating to see the Animation Studio having a revival with Tangled, Wreck-it Ralph, and Frozen, while WDW's management seems to still not have learned the lessons of the original California Adventure. Revenge of the Mummy may be one of the best themed coasters in Orlando--where's Disney with a comparable ride themed to Tangled or Monsters, Inc.?

Honestly ... maybe I just never bought the hype, but I really liked the Mine Train ride when we rode on the 24 hour day. I thought the que was entertaining, that the coaster was cool if not thrill ride cool and the theming and dark ride section was top shelf Disney stuff.

I don't see why everything that's not a thrill ride is an instant disappointment.

Just an fyi on heights..Gringotts will be 42 " not 40" at least according to the unviersal website

That coaster is at Mt. Olympus right? I almost got on it, but decided to not ride it at the last moment (i just walked through the car without sitting down). Glad I did because my kids to this day continue to say, "Glad I'll never need my kidneys again" (joking of course).

the end part with the dwarfs dancing with Snow White is in my opinion, a waste of effort. They could have done so much better with the ending.

The ending is suppose to be a tribute to the Scary Adventures ride. The dwarfs are straight from that ride and incorporates the witch.
Yes, that is a nice touch...didn't realize those were from the original ride. Had to go back and watch some Youtube videos of Snow White's Scary Adventures. So, perhaps not a waste of effort, but they still could have done much better with it instead of making it something that you may not even notice depending on how fast you're returning to the loading station.

yes it is! Don't remember which one of the many coasters it was though. But that last car was wicked. Talk about air time.

I can live without all the rollercoasters and I actually like rollercoasters but I don't go to Disney for rollercoasters. I can stay a heck of a lot closer to home for rollercoasters just as good as anything Universal offers.

Not only do many nearby amusement parks have *better* coasters than Universal...the admission price is quite a bit less, as well.:duck:

I'm disappointed that yet again, Disney has gone the non-thrill ride route. But they are falling SO far behind in other areas. Did we really need yet another mine train ride? I have no doubt I'm in the minority here, but I want to see innovation and thrills.

You may want to hold on for Avatar...sounds like it will cover a lot of your complaints.::yes::

What I don't get is if all y'all think that Universal does it better why do you go anywhere else but Universal? Just go there and stop *****ing and moaning about rides at Disney. If you don't like what Disney offers as far as rides then stop going. Seems easy enough a solution to me.

LOVE IT!:thumbsup2

Just because people wish 7DMT had been done differently, or that univrrsal is doing.better with HP, doesn't mean they dont still love Disney.

I'll never understand why it has to be either or for so many.

If I may generalize, it sounds like most who have ridden it were quite satisfied. And those that haven't are disappointed.

Sounds like FP+ debates all over again. ;)

I wonder if Universal will still be laughing if/when Disney pulls the Marvel plug out from under them...

That being said....you were apparently mislead or uninformed if you thought this was a thrill ride. This is nothing more than a family attraction dark ride themed to a mine train. It was never sold as anything else. It was never mentioned it would contain more scenes than what is inside the mine. Never mind the fact there is another scene after the mine. We shall ignore that fact.

In fact at no point do I ever remember the the expansion listing tons of thrill rides for fantasyland. If you want to go to an amusement park go to an amusement park. Disney is in the business of themeparks. I can live without all the rollercoasters and I actually like rollercoasters but I don't go to Disney for rollercoasters. I can stay a heck of a lot closer to home for rollercoasters just as good as anything Universal offers. If I went to Universal it would be for its themed attractions.

Oh I think Universal will still be laughing heartily even if Disney pulls the Marvel plug although as others have pointed out in this thread Disney can't pull the plug without paying a hefty price.
Spiderman is an older ride now and changing the name of The Hulk coaster wouldn't be a big deal at all and the Marvel area is hardly the reason people go to Universal anymore, with this HP expansion Universal will be printing money.

Exactly. One can still love Disney and be unimpressed with their newest additions.

Oh I think Universal will still be laughing heartily even if Disney pulls the Marvel plug. Big deal. They would rename a roller coaster and change the theme in one ride.. Spiderman.. big whoop.

Actually, it'd be three rides...Doctor Doom's Fear Fall and Storm Force Accelatron are Marvel-based as well. (I'm not trying to argue, just pointing out that info lol :thumbsup2)
