Disappointed in Fantasmic Tonight

Just got back from Fantasmic which is usually one of my favorites parts of Disney. I was very disappointed in it tonight. Only one of the water screens was working tonight. There were no images on the two side water screens and the pictures on the middle screen were extremely blurry. A lot of people were leaving in the middle of the show.
What is going on Disney?

Well that sucks. Did it have anything to do with weather??

WHen we saw the show in late September I was so bummed. It's my favorite nighttime show...and the freakin' dragon didn't work! I mean it didn't show up at all! Maleficent got up on the pedestal, waving around her staff and cackling, and up up up it went but SHE stayed up there the whole time and the dragon never materialized. In fact, the head of the dragon appeared to be jammed in the bottom of the mountain. It was so WEIRD.

One time (long while ago), when we went, they were having water pressure issues and were unsure if the show would go on. It did--but it didn't seem normal. All the screens were there , though.

So I wonder if there was a water pressure issue. It seems they opt to run the show if they can since the audience is filled. But it is a shame that it wasn't working properly.

Saw Fantasmic! Saturday night (5 days ago) and all was working well, FWIW.

Most of the time they run two shows a day, everyday. Over 500 shows a year. It can't be perfect all the time. Issues happen whether mechanical or nature that can't always be resolved by showtime.

Earlier last month at the end of the show mickey never appeared in his sorcerer outfit to light off the fireworks after the steamboat passed. Instead he was on the stage like he is at the end of the show for that whole segment. I was so sad as my favorite part is when he reappears at the end. Hopefully, it will be perfect when I return in 12 days!

Exactly - nature, mechanics, and the cast as well. There are so many pieces that are involved in putting that show together - been there when it's been perfect, been there when it hasn't. Over the years we've seen loads of "mishaps" - dragon got stuck during show, dragon didn't show up at all, long snake was missing from show, Sorcerer Mickey was not at the end of the show, and the list goes on.

It's a bit disappointing when it's not quite what it should be but that's part of a live show. Hopefully the next time you get to see it everything will be spot on. :)

Your comment + avatar made me laugh, this does sound like something straight from the simpsons hahaha :rotfl2:

When DD worked there, her roommate was Belle and often appeared on the floats. Apparently, it is one of the most sophisticated shows, and rarely goes off without a hitch. It's just most of us don't see it or haven't seen it enough to notice the subtle errors. Because dd had seen it so often, she'd point out the things that had gone wrong.

We have such fond memories of F! It was the first "nighttime spectacular" we saw at Disney. (we hadn't made it to Wishes yet that trip).

The kicker for us was when that huge steamboat came out from the back with all the characters on it. That moment impressed me so much. That was one of those WOW moments when you know this trip was going to be something special, and that Disney knows how to do things right.

Sorry you had a crappy experience OP.

Whether at DL or WDW, that is my favorite moment of Fantasmic! The characters bring such joy to Mickey's Imagination!

OP - I'm sorry you had that experience. One time, one of the canoes was guided into a Princess barge and the show was downed at that point and the amphitheater was cleared. I don't think most guests know that the Fantasmic! performers are in multiple segments of the show and when something goes badly, the performers can't get to their next scene.

Yeah, it's the luck of the draw. Not necessarily Disney's fault. I worked at Fantasmic! in 2001 and there had been plenty of mishaps, misfires and weather issues. No matter what, the show must go on and we had to put together the best show possible. We've had a show where the dragon and the snake both weren't working and unpredicted rain started halfway through the show so the steamboat arrived with no characters on it. I hope it goes better next time!! :)
