Thanks for the welcomes!

We are actually heading out on a mini vacation today to Dollywood in Pigeon Forge, TN. So, I guess I will start my exercise program pushing a stroller up and down the hills in the park. We only live about 3 hours away from Dollywood. It is not the "World", but we will have fun anyway.

Not sure if I will have WiFi, so I will check in when I get back.

Oh post pictures, I have always wanted to go there. Have fun.

Hi all!

I've been busy, busy lately. I'm trying to keep up with everyone, but haven't had much time to post. I "moved" this weekend to Alexandria; it's temporary and I still have my house up north. I'll be here for about six months. I love how everything is in walking distance. I've already walked two miles this morning... just taking the dog out and running to the grocery store. I'm hoping being in the area, walking, and having so many restaurants with good healthy choices close by will give me the boost I need to get back on track. I've been stalled on weight loss for the past few months, but I'm recommitting to myself and have a goal of 40 more pounds gone forever by the time I "move" back home. That gives me six months. Without internet in the apartment and restrictions at my new office, I don't know that I'll be able to check-in here a lot -- especially for friday weigh-ins. However I'll try to keep up with everyone and check-in when I can.

Hope everyones having an amazing weekend!

MJ

Silly question, is Alexandria in VA or GA? Also where is back home? If you don't want to say online where you live that's fine I just like to say when I'm talking to other friends "Oh I have a friend who lives in so and so", just curious.

don't you just love the in-laws???i don't mind paying for it but you're gonna look me in the eye and complain about the AMOUNT i'm buying for you????? :headache:

Oh dear, she complained that it wasn't enough and never offered any money. :confused3 I don't get some people I really don't.

I hate laundry!!!!

I'm inventing disposable clothes.

Aside from the extended family uber drama, it was the BEST day! My little man takes his newly baptised state seriously.:cloud9:

A) I do too.

B) I'll definately buy them

C) So glad things went well with the baptism, always some kind of family drama at gatherings like that. He should be very proud about his newly baptised state:angel:

Ok.....I'm one of the newbies, as of this week. Just thought I would check in and tell ya a bit about myself....and how my day is going so far.

I have just recently turned 49 yrs old and have been married to the same wonderful man for almost 27 yrs( our anniv. is in June). I have one son, who will be 21 this June. My son is in his third year of college majoring in business accounting and finance. He lives with a couple of frat. bros. in a rental house....so....it's just me and DH at home now! He does very well in school...has a full ride scholarship. He also works 3-4 days a week as a server at Red Lobster. (PS...he is also a 2nd degree black belt in TaeKwonDo...but has not taught or competed since entering college)

I am an office manager at a dental office and have worked there for 28 years. My hubby works for a chemical corp., but is stuck on 2nd shift.....so I tend to be on the DisBorad alot in the evening.

We live in the country in Ohio...with 2 dogs and 3 cats.....guess they are our babies now!

As my son was growing up we visited WDW several times for a day here or there...but never stayed on site until 2000. My inlaws were celebrating their 50th anniv. and wanted to take the family to WDW for a week and stay at POFQ. My DH pissed and moaned...saying.."what are we going to do at WDW for a whole week." We went and he fell in love. Over the next few years with my son in high school, sports and DH switching jobs (2 of this prior employers shutdown) we were unable to returm to WDW.

Then in 2006....we returned to WDW for our 25th anniv., and made a vow to go back every year. We have made good on that vow, and were lucky enough to visit the MOUSE twice in 2007.

OK....now on to the DIET ( ya know that is a four letter word!). I am a Weight Watcher grad. and have been able to maintain a 50+ lb loss for welll over 2 yrs. But lately the lbs. are creeping back on....so I am so glad to have found you all...and will try to diligently weigh in every Fri.

As of this morning ( I am one of those fanatic daily weighin people) I gained another pound...argh!!!!! I promised to take my DH to Red Lobster for dinner for his birthday....so decided to make the best of it. We went to my son's restaurant....my DH is a big tipper, so DS might as well reap the benefits, right? I limited myself to one glass of wine, and only one of those wonderful cheddar biscuits...drank two glasses of water.....and my son recommended the "tilapia in a bag" with grilled veggies on the side. He said it was one of thw lightest dishes on the menu! It was very, very good! DS said he knows how to make it at home...and would call me with the recipe. I hope to down a few more bottles of water and maybe a piece of fruit, later today....and hit the excercise ball later.

Hope you all have had a great Sunday....and I am looking forward to getting to know you all over the next few weeks. Wezee

You sound like a lot of fun! Being able to laugh at ourselves keeps us sane, I think.

I'm really glad you've re-commited to losing the weight before it gets out of hand.

Those cheese biscuits are the devil. The tilapia in a bag sounds delicious.

You're so lucky to go every year! Do you stay somewhere different every time or do you have a favorite resort you stick with?

I'd really like to try all of the resorts. So far we've just done All Star Movies, POR, and POP, and Holiday Inn Kissimemememeee.

Utah - I'll buy those disposable clothes of yours too. :goodvibes

Also, I agree, those cheese biscuits at Red Lobster are horrible for a diet. DF and I went through a whole basket the last time we were there. :sad2:

Yep, those biscuits are diet killers...I could have brought home a doz. or so in a bag, compliments of my DS....but thought better of it.

We usually stay at POFQ, but for our 30th anniv.(in a couple of yrs.) would love to stay at one of the Epcot Resorts. We've never rec'd a code....but I can always hope.

I'm going to try Narcoossees for the first time on my next trip.

we LOVE narcoosee's. i hope you got a ressie to coordinate with wishes....it's wonderful to watch it from there! :cloud9: oh, and the sauce they use on the filet on the surf-n-turf dish is UNBELIEVABLE. the almond crusted cheesecake is wonderful, too.

punkin, does your in-law in question have a weight problem? That stinks that they won't give you money... mine try to force money on me sometimes and they are in a BAD way financially so I won't take it.

yes, she has a weight problem...has for years. i know she's tried slim fast before but that didn't work. i think she's given up at this point considering that she normally eats a box of potato skins by herself! her son (our nephew) has a weight problem, too. he's 11 years old and i feel bad for him. i just hope he grows tall so some of that weight will kind of even out. she's tall so maybe it'll happen. i don't know about his dad - i met him a few times awhile back but i don't remember much about him.

i once waited on a guy that used to be a server at red lobster....i won't tell you guys how many calories are in those cheesy biscuits!!! but i do have to confess that i always eat 1/2 of one (or maybe sometimes more than that) when we go there.

Oh, Beth! I forgot to welcome you back!! :goodvibes

Pjilla, I have been slacking off on my gym too lately. I am going to try to get back on the exercise wagon tomorrow (today is Mr Kat's day off so if I sneak away he will get upset), and go every day this week. You with me?

Thanks for the challenge. You're on! I'm working out at home this month, since DD's swim team is on hiatus until Spring training and I don't drive to the Y unless I HAVE to. I am making the best of my treadmill and hand weights. And I have recently discovered that I am now able to run a bit. I ran for a full 8 minutes today (slow jog actually ..... 3.4 mi/hr). I wouldn't have dreamed of running for 8 full minutes without DYING just a few months ago. I only ended up on the treadmill for 21 minutes... I fell short of my 40 minute goal, but the day got away from me.

By the time I actually got on the treadmill it was after 6pm and the family hadn't eaten yet. And I don't like to exercise after dinner, so I had to cut it short. DD helped by making dinner, so we were able to eat when I got done on the mill. I might try to get in a bit of handweights later, but I've still got laundry to fold, so who knows........................P

HI all! :)

I've read the last few pages, but I didn't quote. :upsidedow

Wendy - Congrats on Riley's baptism! :goodvibes

abish - I remember you! Glad to "see" you again.

MJ - Good to see you again too. Hope you're temporary situation goes well.

Dawn - LOVED the Rock Band pics! And I can't believe your SIL actually asked for more food without offering any money.

I'm sure there was more I wanted to respond to, but I can't remember now.

We are SO close to being done with our house reorganization project! I have a drawer in our side table that I need to go through (which I will do tonight). And there's a short book shelf in the closet in our office that I want to go through. I'd like to hit the "junk" drawers in our kitchen. And we have a couple of pieces of furniture to move. Next Sunday we'll get the rest of our bedroom furniture at Ikea, and once that's put together and in place, we'll be done! :woohoo: We have been through EVERY closet in our house, and it feels SO good to have them all organized!

I'm also now less than 5 lbs away from ONE-derland! And I'm feeling really driven to get there and a little beyond before the Disney trip in May. I just hope I can do it.

And I REALLY can't wait for that trip! I am SO excited! :yay: It has been a long time for DH and I between trips. (OK, so 7 and a half months is a long time for us!) We are sharing this trip with some of our closest friends. And I'm excited about comparing the photos to the ones from our November '06 trip (just before I joined this thread). I'm hoping to be just past the 50 lb mark by then. DH has also lost 50 lbs since the beginning of the year! :cool1: So we should be seeing a really big difference.

I've also got a bit of :laundy: to do, so I had better get to it. I hope everyone has had a great weekend and has a great weight loss week! :)

Hi Peeps! :wave2: Sorry I haven't had a chance to post much lately. :guilty: I have been lurking though.:surfweb:

I just had to let y'all know how I did on Saturday. I ran another 5K (which is 3.1 miles for those non runners out there) on Saturday. I finished in 36:34! That was an average of 11:47 per mile! I think I am actually becoming a REAL runner. Just wanted to share. I haven't lost any weight, but the clothes are fitting better so I hope I'm gaining muscle.

Have a great week Peeps! I love ya'! :grouphug:

I love the Epcot Resorts! Beach Club is my fav.

Thanks for the intro post! I am Kat, 32, married/no kids, and have been trying to get off my "marriage" weight for the last year. It is coming off slowly but surely.

And yes, cheese biscuits are definitely the devil! But soooo yummy.

Thanks Kat!

I'm with you. It's not TOO snowy here (all the snow's off the streets and most of our grass) so I can walk outside - big thrill - which is less boring to me than the treadmill.

I have some fancy new shoes to try out - what better time!?

Good luck!

Well, I did manage to sneak away after all. I got in buzz-around mode, cleaned both bathrooms, folded a bunch of laundry, and rode the momentum right out the door and into the gym. 60 min on the arc trainer (635 cals burned according to it), 100 crunches on the darn dirty ball.

Dinner was shrimp/chorizo enchiladas. 350 cals in 4 of them, plus 210 in half a can of ff refried beans... super yummy, too.

Hey Peeps, I'm back. I stopped peeping and gained 7 pounds! So I decided that bathing suit season is coming and that means two things; 1 more razor burn and 2 I need to look halfway decent in my bathing suit. I really want to get down to 150. I'm right at 169 now. So I hope to be at my goal by the end of June. Preferrebly the 20th because that's when I'm heading back to the world!!:cool1:

-Jessicaprincess:

So I am new to this board. I have been on and off dieting for a while now. I need to get rid of the junk in my trunk! I thought this would be a great way to "keep me on track."

Howdy to ya'll!

Welcome to all the new peeps!

Hi all. I stayed true to the Peeps last night, during DD's friend party, but the family party today was a different story. DH has mood problems, and he was very down today. I ended up literally running to church this morning, because I thought DH was going with me, and I was going to ride there with him and walk home. I showed up barely on time, sweaty, and with shin splints. I wanted to eat (badly) before people even got here, but held off till the party started. My sister, mom and mil got here a half hour early, then everyone else was at least 20 minutes late. I had bought way too much cake, between last night and today, so I used the second cake as a decoy for when we sang, then served the leftovers from last night. We have a whole cake (1/2 sheet) left over, so I am taking that to work tomorrow as the Feb.-April b-day cake for staff. Tacky? I think so, but so what. At least I won't have the cake sitting around.
I ate 4 pieces of pizza, plus chips and salsa and cake. (I just calculated today's calories: 2700. Pizza Hut is the devil.)I will ride the bike, and anything else in my mouth tonight will be water or vegetables. And tomorrow is another day, right?

Wow! Welcome to all...

I'm impressed with everyone's resolve. Very encouraging.

This week I have two goals:

1. Drink 8 glasses of water, every day, no matter what
2. Walk 20 minutes, every day, no matter what

How's that for a baby step? Sometimes after walking I feel all "charged up" and I keep going, with the exercise ball, the Pilates, the hand weights, or one of the 84 exercise videos and DVDs I've purchased in the hopes that they held my salvation.

For those of you who've had success, what was the MOST important thing that brought you to where you are now? (That sounds like a high school newspaper interview, but you get the idea.). I intend to copy you completely. :)

We're going back to WDW in Jan. or Feb. 2009, but I don't dare wait to start losing pounds or they'll be on me forever! Fat runs in my family like the ebola virus but I'm determined to be the one to change it!

I walked 25 minutes today but didn't drink enough water, so it's off to the kitchen for me!

Have a lovely Monday...

I will be in Disney in May as well. Will be there from the 14th until the 21st. Going with 4 of my aunts, my mom and 2 cousins for my family bachelorette party! I can't wait My goal is to lose 5 to 7 more pounds before i get to disney

Very cool! We will be there May 16-24! :thumbsup2 We are taking two other couples with us - my best friend from high school (who now lives in Indy, about 2 hrs away) & her DH and another one of my best friends (who I met at work about 5 years ago) & her DH. It is our 6th wedding anniversary on the 18th, my friend from high school & her DH's 11th wedding anniversary on the 17th, my friend from work's b-day on the 14th, and her DH will have just graduated from the U of I on the 10th! So we are celebrating a lot! And it's our first trip staying at our new home resort, AKV! And my friend from Indy and her DH are both zoo keepers at the Indianapolis Zoo, and we have a savanna view room, so this ought to be a really great trip! If you want to try to meet up, let me know. :) I think Kat's gonna be there too. Anyone else?

Ya wanna hate those cheddar biscuits? Then click here! I love this website. I've looked up some delicious things, and have since stopped eating them. (A favorite sandwich, large sized, had 1000 calories in it, yeah, it's tasty, but I won't even go to that restaurant now!)

UMA, congrats on your DS's baptism! How exciting!

Well, ladies, my DH starts his liquid diet today. It's his way of kick-starting himself on eating right. He was doing really well, but his parents came in town and we started eating out more, which for us just snowballs. We do much better if we eat at home. So, that means that my ridiculous, out of control eating has come to a halt today! Which makes me happy, since I know it'll be better for me in the long run, and for the little kung-fu kid in my tummy.

Speaking of, does my child kicking me from the inside out count as exercise?

My goals this week:
1) MORE WATER!!!
2) Do those pregnancy exercise DVDs! At least 3 days this week, between classes, work, and homework.

Have a great Monday!

Hi all,

Whew, took some catching up!

Well I am recommited to my exercise, I have got a new crosstrainer machine (I think thats what it is - its the one that swings your arms and legs backwards and forwards like you are walking!). Hopefully it'll be delivered in the next day or two and I aim to do 30mins on it a day - maybe more if I can manage it!

Have a great day everyone!
