that is soooo true!!! i still remember how terrible i felt after i had mc-diet no no's a few weeks ago. not to say i am a "perfect eater" but i have learned that full meal of grease does not make a happy tummy. i remember being 19 and eating taco bell at 11 at night and not only being about 120 lbs but never getting sick from it...ahh..the good ole days! lol

You lost me at 120. :confused3

I can't remember that far back!

All righty, here's the Easter challenge list. Let me know if I missed or misqouted you...

Now then, on to The Lion King musical. (Keep in mind I'm terrible at recapping, which is why I don't do trip reports. Dawn would make this sound 100x more exciting then I ever could.) Anyway, it was the 2nd time that we saw it; the first was about 6 months ago when it was about an hour north of us in Appleton, WI. This time it was an hour south of us in Milwaukee. So the fact that I'd be willing to plunk down the money to see it twice, you know it's gotta be good. Granted, it is my 2nd favorite movie of all time (not just 2nd favorite Disney movie, but 2nd favorite movie, period), so I'm a little biased. I get chills every time I hear the African singing at the beginning of The Circle of Life. So keep that in mind, as well. I won't go into it too much, because I don't want to spoil it for those who are going to be seeing it in the near future. But assuming you've seen the animated movie, you know what to expect of the story. The way they dress each of the actors and actresses is brilliant. It is more of a suggestion of what the creature is supposed to be, as opposed to just having actors in animal costumes. For instance, Mufasa's human face is always exposed, and he just wears a lion headpiece that he lowers when he gets angry. There is even a point in the play when the actor controlling Zazu is birdless, yet somehow they make it work in the context of the play. The musical is obviously very true to the original animated film, with only a few changes to make it work better on the stage. They've added a new song or two to help move the story along (I love "He Lives in You", which Rafiki sings during the part when she [yes, Rafiki is a female in the musical] convinces Simba to return to pride rock by showing him a reflection of himself in the water). The beginning sets the mood, and almost makes you believe that you are on the African savannah. The sets are very minimal; again keeping with the theme of just offering a suggestion of what is going on, allowing you to fill in the rest with your imagination. Personally, this is the best show I have ever seen. Now, I've never seen a show on Broadway, so my experience is limited to the different touring shows from the past 5 or so years. But honestly, I can't imagine it getting much better than this.

So that's my brief, sorta rambling recap. My in-laws saw it last weekend, and they loved it; and they had never seen the animated movie before. So that tells me that I'm not just biased.

I hope everyone has a great night!

That's great - thanks for sharing!!

I love this story. Thanks so much for sharing it with us.

That is cute - I always see the :lmao: smiley too when I see your name!! Elmo, too sweet!!

You do realize you got the 1000th post!
Woooooo HOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Good Catch!!
WOOHOOTY!!!

Thanks for the review Aaron!! that sounds fantastic!!

That depends, what are you doing right now? Do I need to get outside and add some miles? :rolleyes1 I just figured out how to sign on to see the spreadsheet. I am so proud of myself considering I am so technically challenged. :cool2: :rotfl:

Actually I am trying to nurse ailing dd back to good health. She has been  for almost two weeks. Nothing serious, just the stuffy nose, coughing crud.

Good girl on learning a new computer thing.

But, I have a sinus thingy going on. Burning going up through my nose, into my sinuses and my tooth is bothering me. Never ending sickies over here.

I know someone said this but watch for a sinus infection. Usually if your teeth hurt that's what you've got.

I hope you don't mind all of my random trip planning on this thread, since I'll probably also post my intinerary for opinions once the park hours are released, if that's okay.

I live for trip planning (even when they are not mine :lmao: )

When I clicked on User CP and didn't see you guys I started to panic. Then I clicked on a link to see all of Wendy's posts to find the thread and it said I could not access it! Then I really panicked, like "Oh no, I have been gone too long and the kicked me off and moved and made up a secret code that I did not know!!!" It was awful! But I finally found you guys. I tried to read through and figure out what happened. I guess it was not just temporary. So all of our history is gone.:sad1:

I only have a couple of more months of school and then maybe I can be a regular peep again. I really miss you guys! :grouphug:

Glad you found us. I don't think we've ever met. My name is Laura :flower3: :wave2: Nice to meet you

We took Joshua's pacifier away on Thurs. night and lets just say it has been wonderful. He had been waking a couple of times each night and couldn't find it he would come a knock on our door. Between him and Rebekah I was getting very little if no sleep. Since Thurs. he has slept ALL NIGHT!!!! He still asks for it some, but gets over it quick. It was harder on me than him.

Isn't sleep a nice thing.

That is funny you think of the lmao smiley when you see my user name. My fiance calls me LMO my real name is Lauren. When we first met we went on a date to the beach. I had on a bikini, hat, sunglasses and platform wedge sandals on and I was tripping all over the place. My fiance..then boyfriend turned around at me and said "You aint no J-LO!!! you are more like ELMO!!!!" Then it kinda of stuck, even when he writes my name in a card he write LMO..its cute!

That's cute how you got your nickname. Thanks for sharing.

You do realize you got the 1000th post!
Woooooo HOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

:wizard:

Melinda - thanks for the flax seed info. Didn't know what it was. So I can either do that or take Fish Oil supplement but the flax seed you get more benefits from, am I correct?

Oh and we have today off from school plus the WHOLE week. It's our winter break. Today we had a road trip with DH. Yup we went to the New Red Neck Disneyland (see UM TR). My camera battery was not charged so sorry no pictures.

Laura

i think i'm getting sick. :headache: i've avoided it all winter and now my throat is scratchy and i'm EXHAUSTED. i always crave lots of garlic when i feel a cold coming on and so ray and i went to johnny's pizza for dinner and we shared a big bowl of garlic knots. so my number on friday will probably not be good. but at this point i don't care......garlic always makes me feel better when i'm icky. i have some kickin breath though!

for American Idol lovers - you should check out http://www.votefortheworst.com/ they posted lots of interesting stuff on most of the final 24 - esp those that have contracts, experience, etc...

this is how sanjaya made it so far last year. :sad2:

Dawn....Your brother looks  :scared: I would NOT want to run into him at the haunted house! Sounds like tips are good at Longhorn with the exception of the occasional redneck. One of my favorite server memories is the guy who order a bottle of red wine and then said....Honey could you brang me some ice? This wine is hot! (Their service was good but the tip was not. Big surprise.)

the first table i waited on by myself during training was interesting - i asked them if they had decided on lunch and the girl goes, "i don't know what i'm looking at. you guys don't have pictures......just words." i *almost* asked her if she'd like to supersize her meal. :lmao:

for the most part though i get 15-20%. you do get the occasionally non-informed tipper of course. it just blows my mind that people don't KNOW that tipping 15-20% is expected for decent service. and believe me.......i know if i've done bad and won't fault anyone for tipping me less if i don't do a good job. i still can't believe that guy asked me if i was allowed to take tips. dude.....i make $2.13 an hour......what do you think???????

aaron- thanks for the lion king review. makes me even more excited to see it!

You lost me at 120. :confused3

i hope you start feeling better soon dawn!!! i hate the scratchy throat feeling..
i was actually home from work today, not because of the holiday but because of a very upset stomach and cramps..fun times let me tell you. I am feeling better now though..but i wasn't able to work out or anything so i am def. looking forward to going to Curves tommorow and getting myself into the swing of it!

:yay: Glad hes doing better!

That's usually the case. We waited with Mal longer than I did with the boys and I was thinking I'd never get her to kick the habit. She did. The JOYS of parenting.:goodvibes

I was up, not because of my kids, but because I just could not fall asleep. I think I finally did at 4am. WTH???

I think it was the garbage I ate (I made chocolate chip cookies for "my kids" and then we ate McDonalds for dinner). Just rotting in my stomach. I didn't have to throw up, I just felt yucky. I wish I would have. So even this morning I feel yucky. :goodvibes

So, lesson learned: Once you eate healthy, don't poison yourself with the bad stuff, it bites you in the end.
The same thing happened to me this weekend.I didn't eat well and last night i was soo sick.

Just wanted to say hey! We've been doing a lot of work on straightening up the house. Our living room looks GREAT, and tonight I cleaned out the closet in the entry and put together yet another little table from Ikea, and this one if for my laptop, so I'm using it right now. We actually had one before and broke one of the bolts (and DH threw it away before we could go match it at Home Depot). So, now we have two of these laptop tables, which is cool, because we have two laptops! ;) Anyway, just checkin' in. I've got a couple other things to do before bed. Hope everyone had a great start to the week. to all who need them!

Hey Lynda. It's so good to see you around. Hope everything is good. I know things are harder to check in, but it's so nice when you do.

Hi,Lynda.Sounds like a successful night...:goodvibes

I actually got some sleep last night. Woot Woot.

But ACK there is no coffee creamer!

Looks like DH is making a run to Dunkin Donuts.

He started to run a fever last night. I really didn't want him to get sick. That is not a good thing.

I am starting to get over the cough, it just sporadic coughing.

And the sinus thingy went away through the night. I was almost convinced I had a cavity.

Now then, on to The Lion King musical...

That was a great recap. I saw it in Baltimore last year and LOVED it!! I was mesmerized by the cotumes. Really amazing! It will be touring in Washington, DC in the Spring and I am thinking I might have to see it again since it is only a 45 minute drive from here. I am glad you had such a great time.

Thank you for the link. I am going there next.

Between him and Rebekah I was getting very little if no sleep. Since Thurs. he has slept ALL NIGHT!!!! He still asks for it some, but gets over it quick. It was harder on me than him.

I am convinced that my 3 yo will be going to college with his pacifier. He is only allowed to have it at night vs. anytime during the day. He asked me last night , "Mommy, why do you hate my chuch-chi?" :sad1: He LOVES his pacifier!

I'm ready to get back on the tread mill. I'm not coughing that much anymore.

But, I have a sinus thingy going on. Burning going up through my nose, into my sinuses and my tooth is bothering me. Never ending sickies over here.

Monica, I am glad you are finally feeling better. We had an outbreak of pinkeye in my house courtesy of my 3 yo. Man, that is contagious.

i think i'm getting sick.

Oh no!!! I hope you can avoid getting the full-fledged flu. It is miserable. Enjoy your garlic...:scared:

Good, I need something interesting to do today at work. It is so quiet here! I hope you are feeling better

Doesn't it feel great getting all organized? I desperately need to do something with my closet. It is out of control. Good for you getting so much done.

I am starting to get over the cough, it just sporadic coughing.

Send him to a hotel... You don't need anymore germs!! I threatened to send my husband to my IL's until he was healthy again.

Update: I just got a call from my mom and the nursing home just called an ambulance for my grandfather. He is having chest pains. They are hoping it is just muscle pain because they worked his upper body yesterday at rehab. My poor father is a wreck. It has just been one thing after another these past 2 weeks. To top it off, my mom's sister is having back surgery as I type this so she is not able to be there with my dad. I am going to leave early today so I can sit with him at the hospital and he won;t have to be there alone. My leave is looking pretty sad...

I just subscribed to your TR, I'll read it later though.

 Big hug for you and your dad. Keep us updated about your grandpa.

Ok Peeps. I went to WW today and :scared1: now granted I wasn't the greatest peep and we did go to Cabella's yesterday and I didn't eat like a peep should there but OMG. I gained 4 lb. Some of it is water because I didn't drink my water like I'm supposed to last week and some of it is because of AF but holy cow. That puts me for the Easter challenge to lose 9 lb in 5 weeks. I'm going to try, no more bolonga for me anymore. I'm sick of being overweight darn it.

Hope your mom's sister (your aunt?) will be fine too.

Hugs to you!!!!!

OH NOOOOO! I'm so sorry!

I so know what that feels like. Why is so EASY to gain?

My easter challenge is only to lose 4 pounds which means I'll gain 7-10 roughly. :3dglasses

Hey, Peeps! :wave2:

I fell off the wagon after my WDW trip, so I have been ashamed! BUT, without even trying, I lost five of the 8 pounds I gained on the trip. So really I am only up about 3 since before the trip. Not too shabby. And I don't get it either! I have hardly been drinking any water and I have consumed all manner of bread and chocolate! :confused3 Not that I'm complaining!

It sounds like many of you are doing GREAT! Keep up the good work.

born2bird...Oh no, I am so sorry about your grandfather! Please keep us updated. I hope everything is ok! :grouphug:

Peep on peepin' on! :hippie:

thanks!
Well tonight is the last weigh in for that ..last i checked i was in 5th place..but i had peaked at 3rd the week before..of course i had a slight gain on my last weigh in and some crazy woman lost like 5 lbs and bumped me out! thats ok though, it was a nice motivator..i know i won't show a loss since i am weighing in after work ..i usually go in the a.m. but i could not get up this morning for some reason..ah well...i am still into working out and getting this darn weight off!! it was a good kick start..:)

By the way i LOVE the piglet shamrock pic in your signature!! its so cute!

Gina - good girl for being 5th. Thanks about the Piglet clip art. I'll pm you where I got it from. Don't know if I'm allowed to post different sites.
