DISappearing PEEPS Volume 2

First of all, welcome to the Peeps, fellow Cheesehead!

The July 4 challenge is a very informal thing that I started last year with a Thanksgiving challenge, which is basically intended to keep people focused and to give them a short term goal to strive for. For instance, you might say that you want to lose 5 pounds by July 4. Then every Friday when you post your gain/loss, I record that on a spreadsheet and put it on here for the world to see. If you look at the link below, you'll see what I mean...

http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=25363465&postcount=3688

There are obviously no rewards or prizes or anything for meeting your goal; although some would say getting healthy is its own reward.

If you want to join in, there is still plenty of time! Just let me know what your goal is for the next month, and I'll add you to the list.
I would like to join the challange please! Is the spreadsheet just posted on here weekly is that where i would find it?

You guys have got to check out this site, www.morphthing.com. Just upload a picture of yourself, and then morph with celebrities. Here are some of the ones I did of myself, with;

Welcome to our peep family Wendy. My name is Laura and I married to Michael (who I have known since high school, friend of my brother's) for almost 12 years (Oct 08) but we have been together for almost 20 years (Jan 09). We have three lovely children, Christopher 9, Nicholas 6 and Elizabeth 2 1/2. I am doing weight watchers but most folks here I think count calories. I don't own a scale at home so going to get weighed is a good thing for me. Anyway weigh days are friday and make it big like this -3 for UtahMama to record because she has a handy dandy chart she keeps for us  WI_Disneyfan also keeps charts for mini challenges for us we are currently doing one now for July 4th. I too have a DH that is not such a Disney fan either oh no there's two of them:faint: because he says it's the same stuff every time we go so he lets me go every 5 years well boo yaa next year we're off. Well I could type another paragraph but I gotta get the kids to school.
I am not sure what i am doing wrong but when I try to make the big bold colorful print it just comes out as normal type does anyone know what I might be doing wrong? Thank you!

Inspired by Lynda's pictures a few days ago of her awesome progress, I thought I'd update my own progress pictorial. So last night I had my wife take a picture of me, and I added it to the collage that I did about 6 months ago. Part of me is bummed out that I've only lost 10 pounds in six months. But on the other hand, I'm thrilled by the progress that I've made overall; and I'm a little surprised at what losing just 10 pounds (going from 175 to 165) can do for a guy (or girl for that matter).

So if you've ever wondered what a 75 pound weight loss looks like, here it is...

f_AaronProgrem_b05aa32.jpg

Wow Aaron! I must say, that 10 lbs DOES make a difference! I can really tell a difference between those last two photos. You look great! :)

Aaron and Lynda - You have no idea how inspiring those before-and-after photos are! First of all, I know you are real people, not just strangers featured on an infomercial with a disclaimer about how "these results are totally unusual." Second - I know what dedication and hard work you've put into your success!

Thank you so much. It means a lot to me to share it with my Peeps, who mean so much to me. :goodvibes

And I hope you are feeling better in no time!

aaron - wow!!! good job! :thumbsup2

i'm inspired to post mine now....this will show you how much this thread helped me!

october 2006 - i don't know how much i weighed here, but i'm guessing somewhere around 170.

before.jpg

february 2007 - 162 pounds. this was right before i joined the peeps. i had been trying to lose weight for awhile and it just wasn't going anywhere. as soon as i joined this thread and changed a few things, the weight fell off!

anotherbefore.jpg

may 2007 - around 145 pounds

image101.jpg

july 2007 - around 138 pounds

yetanotherbefore.jpg

september 2007 - 132 pounds

mePicture037-1.jpg

i reached my goal of 130 pounds sometime in january, i think, but i don't have any pictures of me from then. i've maintained between 130-135 pounds since then. this is me in disney world a month ago!

What a difference Dawn! You look great! And your hair is super cute. :)

Thanks for all of the compliments! Honestly, I hesitated on posting it because I really don't like making a big fuss over myself (and also because I didn't think to put on a little nicer shirt for the photo!); plus I didn't want to make it seem like I was just fishing for compliments (which I wasn't, I swear!). But I really just wanted to give you an idea of how much the Peeps have helped me, and show all of you what you've helped me achieve. When I started posting here I was around the 215 mark. I was stuck on that for over a year after losing the initial 25 by myself (the 215 picture was from my honeymoon in September 2005, and I started here early 2007). And in a little over a year, I was able to go from 215 to 165. So it really does help to have a support group who knows what you are going through and will help you get over any bumps in the road. So thank you to everyone for helping me get this far. I know together, we'll ALL reach our goals! (Which I am still striving for myself...)

I couldn't agree with you more. When I looked at my photos, it really hit me what I had accomplished, AND that I really don't think I would have accomplished it without my Peeps. On this thread, I have received motivation, inspiration, support, friendship, and laughter. And it is so wonderful to be able to share it with you all.

Dawn & Aaron you both look FANTASTIC!!!!!! Bravo to you both on all your hard work and fabulous results! :thumbsup2 Thanks for sharing the pics!

Any Lost fans out there?! I thought the finale was great! I love that show!

Huge Lost fan here! We are actually watching it on the DVR right now! Almost done. :yay:

Oh Peeps...what am I going to do? I put on a pair of shorts that I've had for awhile. I wouldn't say they were ever tight but they fit well. Over the past few months - actually since last summer they have been looser since I've apparently been losing weight. Well today I put them on and they were back to the tight fit. Not good.

Another not so good moment tonight (that I know I'm being too sensitive about). I'm staying the night at my DB and DSIL's house because they are going out of town and my mom and I will be taking care of their kiddos. I'm picking them up from school and bringing them back to my house. Anyway, while chatting it came up that I don't have a job for the summer and I basically said that I don't really want one since it's only a month and a half, I'll make no money and have crappy hours but I did admit that I get bored sometimes with no real plans for the day and nothing to do. Well instead of saying, take a trip to the beach, the mall, go to the movies, volunteer, etc. she says maybe join a gym or curves? I'm totally the girl that takes food/exercise/looks comments personally, and I felt not so wonderful after that. She has a point although I really have no desire to join a gym...maybe curves though. Would anyone mind sharing how much the membership is? Is it for a month/year? Anyway, I'm admitting that I've been bingeing a lot this past week or so and I don't want to do it anymore.

I just feel so disgusted with myself.

And on that uplifting note, I hope everyone has a great weekend and sees pretty numbers in the morning!

Hi Everyone, :wave2:

I have two lovely children one just turned 15 and the other will soon be 12 ahhhh teenagers gotta love them! No they really are good kids and am very proud. I am married to my high school sweetheart. I can proudly say that we have been married for 17 glorious (cough) years. He really is a great guy and wonderful father but not so much a Disney fan :scared1: I know scary isn't it!

I am so glad I found this group! :yay: I really need all the support I can get and am looking forward to learning more about you to. So if you don't mind me joining in I would love to. I will check in tomorrow and let you know if I am down or up in weight! ;)

PS: I have read the Twilight series as well loved them ALL!!! Thanks Wendy for the recomendation ) Now I am reading The Host that is great as well! I can't wait for the Twilight movie I belive it will be released in December!
Hi Love! My kids are at the other end of the teen years. They are still giving me big creased wrinkles right between my eyes, but they are getting better. There's a light at the end of that tunnel. And UM turned me onto the Twilight books too. I'm biding my time with Alice Hoffman books until the next Twilight book comes out.
Welcome to our group.
July 4th is coming! :scared1: I'm still stuck. :faint:More water for me!
I'm going in the wrong direction! And this isn't even the hard week. DD graduates on Saturday, and we celebrate my mom's 80th birthday on Sunday. Lots of fun, but so much food facing me this weekend. I better go drink some water pronto!

So last night I had my wife take a picture of me, and I added it to the collage that I did about 6 months ago. Part of me is bummed out that I've only lost 10 pounds in six months.

More amazing changes. You are awesome!
A little about me.....
I thought I'd post a little about me (if anyones interested!!) - A mini-bio if you will!
Im Kelly, 26 and I live in the North of the UK - Very near to where Sean Bean was born! Im getting married in August and I joined the peeps maybe January time (?) to lose around 10lbs before the wedding. I started off on WW, but I think I'd gotten so used to it that it wasn't working for me anymore, so now Im doing Slimming World and I love it!
me-1.jpg
I love Sean Bean. My Dsis asked how I could love the villain from Scarlett (sequel to GWTW) but I first saw him in Sharpe's Rifles, and he was phenomenal. That is a teeny picture of you. Looking forward to a better look at you.

I am with you on the self-disgust. I'm just feeling like it's so hard to shed a lb., and so easy to gain them. Sorry about the hurt you feel from SIL's comments. She may just have been sharing what she enjoys. I often encourage others to join a gym.
I looked at Curves, and it was a lot more than my full-service gym, and it wasn't open the hours I needed. My gym is only $25 a month, and there was no reg. fee. Many of my friends swear by Curves, though. I think they like the social, women-only atmosphere. I like having guys around (much as my 7th grade teacher commented when she said, "Anything in pants, Danielle!")

Pretty numbers to all tomorrow. I'm dreading WI.

Good Morning All!
I hope it is a good morning for some of you! For me not so great. I am still the same in weight. ( 163.8 ) :worried: I went to my workout place last night and had them weigh and measure me. I kinda knew I didn't really lose weight but I had thought for sure that I had lost in inches. Well those didn't change either!! :scared1: I have been there for 3 weeks now and thought for sure I would see results. I feel it in the way my clothes fit. I think I am going to have someone else measure me. Given the fact that she really didn't seem to know where to measure and kept asking " is this where they had the measuring tape last time?"

Dawn and Aaron you guys look amazing! ::yes:: and you really have inspired me to really lose the weight! Thanks for posting your pictures! Can I ask what you did to lose the weight? What kind of diet were you on?

Aaron, put me down for the the July challenge I would love to lose at least 5lbs by July 4th!!

LMO429 & Disneyfreak92:

I'm the keeper of the spreadsheet, so just follow lovealldisney's lead (see below) and let me know how much you'd like to lose by July 4th.

I've got you marked down!

I am doing Weight Watchers. I started doing it online, but since I had the books and point calculator and all of that stuff at my disposal, I cancelled that and just continued to do it on my own. I have a spreadsheet that tracks my weight, and of course I have the Peeps to keep me honest. But there are a lot of people here that count calories. The popular method is to take your goal weight, multiply it by 12, and that is how many calories you should eat each day. (Not to speak for her, but) Dawn reached her goal weight using this method. And I think one or two others have, as well.

thank you all for the sweet compliments. i wasn't looking for that.....just wanted to show you guys (especially the newbies) how much this thread helped me in being accountable for my choices.

Can I ask what you did to lose the weight? What kind of diet were you on?

i think it was melinda that told me about the magic formula that worked for me: goal weight x 12 = calorie intake per day. my goal weight was 130. so 130 x 12 = 1560. i tried to keep my calories around 1500/day. i bought a food journal and wrote down everything i ate. i also bought a little book that lists all sorts of different food in it to make it easier to look up the calorie counts instead of having to run to the computer every time i ate. it wasn't hard to keep it around 1500/day - i never went to bed hungry! now i don't even have to write it down anymore - i just know how much food i need every day and i know if i'm overdoing it.

secondly, water, water and more water. i used to drink diet coke mostly and sweet tea occasionally and water kind of in between the two. i changed that to NOTHING but water. it's amazing how quickly the weight came off once i made that change. i do allow myself 2 cups of coffee in the morning with splenda and fat free creamer. and i always allowed myself a cheat day so i could have a margarita or some other fun drink and give myself a break from counting calories. that doesn't mean i ate everything in sight - just gave myself a break from journaling my food.

and of course exercise played a big part. but the exercise thing has never been a problem for me - i love it! i did incorporate more cardio into my workout. i used to do mostly weight training and that's not what i needed. i still do weights, but i try to concentrate on the cardio more.

hope that helps! :goodvibes

I am with you on taking comments like that personally, BUT i would not let it bring you down. I dont know how much it is to join curves. If you dont like going to a gym, try working out at home and buy some workout dvds like turbo jam, the firm or the jillian michael dvds. Sometimes I find the whole process of going to the gym annoying and time consuming its great to have the option to just work out at home whenever i want to. i feel like i am less likely to make excuses about not workiing out when i can just throw a workout in and be done with it

This was a good week. I lost 2.6 pounds! Although since I gained 1.2 last week, I'm really just making up for that. Anyway, this loss puts me at my lowest adult weight of 163.4. I now have a grand total of 52.6 pounds lost since joining the Peeps in 2007; and an uber-grand total of 76.6 pounds lost since sometime early 2005. This represents a 31.92% weight loss. I am now 3.5 pounds from my 4th of July goal. I also usually put how far away I am from my ultimate goal weight, but that is in flux right now. It used to be 155, which would be 8.4 pounds from now. But after reevaluating where I'm at, I've got a feeling it'll be somewhere in the 140's by the time everything is said and done. So I'm sort of suspending my goal weight talk until I actually get to 155. Then I'll take it from there.

Anyway, have a great day everyone!
