Hey! I didn't know this was here, what a fantastic idea!
I found this thread on a link in the food porn, :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I want to lose as least 45 pounds before going back to Disney in late Sept. This could be a great way to keep accountable.

Yay!

I hope everyone has a good week...ate kinda crappy this weekend
(a growing trend) so I hope I can have a good number Friday.

Welcome Theresak!! :goodvibes

GOOD MORNING!

Running late today!

Back later to answer your questions, Shannon.

EVERYBODY HAVE A GREAT DAY!

1) What are your favorite exercise/workout routines? (i.e. walking, curves, a DVD, etc)

2) How long do you work out for and how many times a week?

3) If you listen to music, what are some of your fave "get pumped up" songs?

I'm just curious to see what everyone is doing exercise wise because the Peeps have been doing so great, becoming skinnier skinny minnies every week!

Hope everyone has a great week! :cutie:

Welcome back Shannon..i will be heading to your TR later to check it out!:)
As for your questions:
1. CURVES at least 3 times a week and walking-mostly up hill trail hikigin/tennis
2. Lately I have been working out at least 35-45 minutes 5 days a week and am finally seeing results. Curves days it is closer to the 35 minutes but if its nice out i sneak in an extra walk or weight work.
3. I am a bit addicted to listening to David cook's downloads on Itunes for my walking music..but i have been walking with a friend lately so that helps get through the hilly workouts too!

OH i was BAAAD last night..i had the "dreaded arches"!!! :scared1: First time in probably at least 3 months, so i am not upset with myself. I just had no desire to cook or go out-out last night so it served its purpose..and i would be lying if i said it did not taste delicious. ....Better drink double my H2O to flush that out!

Hi all! Hope everyone had a good weekend!

Why is it that when I decided to have my splurge meal for the week (this time it was a big breakfast on Sunday), that I just give myself permission to eat like crap the rest of the day? It makes no sense to me!

Anyway, here is the Week 2 update for our July 4th challenge. Seems like I'm missing a few of our "regulars", but who knows how life got in their way last week.

Here are my answers to workout questions -

1) What are your favorite exercise/workout routines? (i.e. walking, curves, a DVD, etc)
Well, lately it has been building a fence. I'm using a manual auger to dig all the holes, which has been a pretty good workout. But typically in the summer, I LOVE walking. I'll take my dog out for a good 4-5 mile walk, sometimes longer if we are feeling particularly energetic. In the winter or rainy nights, I alternate between Walk Away the Pounds and Yoga, depending on my mood. I also have an exercise ball that came with a Pilates routine, but I don't seem to get much out of that. Plus I have a Biggest Loser DVD that is a killer, but I have an arthritic hip that limits how much squatting and thrusting I can do. (Keep your minds out of the gutter. I am talking about exercising here!) And the majority of the workouts require doing a lot of that.

2) How long do you work out for and how many times a week?
I try to exercise at least 45 minutes a day, 5 days a week.

3) If you listen to music, what are some of your fave "get pumped up" songs?
I recently bought one of the really big 160-gb iPods, which I loaded up with my entire CD selection (all 6600 songs), and typically I'll just put that on shuffle when I walk. But when I need to get fired up in a hurry, old (pre-black album) Metallica really gets the blood pumping. I also acquired a "Classical Thunder" Time Life CD box set from a friend a number of years ago, which is the more up-tempo classical pieces (like the 1812 Overture, for instance). That is awfully good when I'm not in a metal kind of mood.

Have a great day everyone!

Gotta love free DVC internet!! There were some showers, so we headed back to the resort for a bit (and a margarita!).

Aaron, I am abstaining from weighins until May 30th due to WDW trip!

1) What are your favorite exercise/workout routines? (i.e. walking, curves, a DVD, etc)

Either 30 min on elliptical/arc and weights, 45 min on elliptical/arc, or ice hockey.

2) How long do you work out for and how many times a week?

I try for 45 min at least 5 times a week.

3) If you listen to music, what are some of your fave "get pumped up" songs?

I have a Spanish dance mix, or the Illuminations pre-show. Either works.

Hope everyone is having a great week! I will be checking in off and on.

Went to the doctor today. I had lost 4 pounds since my last visit. 4 pounds on the official "doctor" scale - I was really excited. More good news, my blood pressure is still up, the top number is in the 140-150 range but the bottom number is in the 70-80 range. Doc doesnt want to put me on BP meds. :woohoo: - I got a different prescription.... diet, cut out caffeine, decrease salt, increase water and walk 20 min at least 3 times a week. Sounds like a "Peep" plan. When she asked if I had been exercising I told her I had been scared too- afraid I might blow a fuse so I have been waiting for the MD approval. So... now I got it and I dont have an excuse anymore.... so I'd better be good ... I gotta go back for a recheck in a couple months.

Yay! Congrats on the good news! Your "Peep" plan sounds like a good one. You can do it!!!!!! :thumbsup2

GOOD MORNING! :sunny:

It's a busy week at our house this week....DD is in the school play this weekend so practice every day this week. There's no school today due to the democratic primary so she practices all day today. DS has an overnight camping trip on Friday and I'm in charge of layout of the play program and the dance team banquet tomorrow. Yep.

Robin!
Great news on your dr's visit! No med! :cool1: All that other stuff is stuff we ALL know we should be doing any way...right?

Fran....You're going to Disney is June next year? I'm not very good at figuring out the time lines.

Shannon.....When I'm exercising (which I'm still NOT at the moment) I do the Slim in 6 DVD at home. I only do the intermediate one which is about 40 min and does all over toning. It's great. I don't listen to music to get me pumped up. The only music I listen to here at home is DIS radio. ;)

Aaron....Thanks for keeping track of everyone!

Gina, Kat.....:wave2:

HAVE A GREAT DAY!

Hey good news on the blood pressure and the 4 lb lost on the doctor sale.

Shannon - I used to go to a gym (they're closing) and I tried to walk on the treadmill 3 times a week and then did some weights. Currently I'm doing nothing but I'm waiting for my video to come that Gina recommended (Gina it's not coming until August 2nd because I ordered a book and it's not being released until then so I have to wait). So right now I'm just concetrating on the food issue. Psst - I'm going over and reading your TR right now.

BUSY BEE!!! i don't know how any of your Peep mommas do everything you do!! You must be one of the most organized people in the world melinda!

Welcome

Bummer! I hope you like it when it FINALLY arrives!!! :)

Have a great day everyone!!!!

UK....Mince....OK, that's good. I was afraid it was like mincemeat pie...raisins and stuff. The Quorn mince would probably be really good in chili and spaghetti I'm guessing.

Im not a fan of mincemeat, I hate raisins, sultanas, currants - anything shrivelled! Its great in chili and spaghetti, you cant tell its not meat!

Hi Shannon, welcome back!

1) I like the Weightwatchers excercise DVD, you can choose how long the routine is that you do, and I also have a cross trainer that I like to go on while Im watching tv!

2) I try to go on the cross trainer everyday for around 30mins if I can, and I do the DVD 'as and when'!

3) I will listen to anything provided I can sing along! Usually if Im on the cross trainer I'll be stood in front of the TV so I either watch a really good programme or put a music channel on.

Hey! I didn't know this was here, what a fantastic idea!

Fran....You're going to Disney is June next year? I'm not very good at figuring out the time lines.

Yes, that's right. The end of May (day after Memorial Day) and into June. I'm not yet 100% sure of the coming-home date. It's my graduation present and my youngest son's birthday present (May 30th). I realize that it is hot during this time of year but it's the only time that we can go with the exception of July & August <--- no thanks. I'm also aware of the crowds but I'm banking on it not being as bad as during Christmas week. I hope. We will be there at least 10 days and we'll take advantage of morning EMH, breaking during the hottest part of the day, and going back in the evening hours, especiallly for evening magic hours, my favorite. We'll have park hoppers again because we loved the freedom of going to several parks each day during our Dec. trip. We'll also have the water park option. I'll keep you posted as we (mostly I) figure out the details. :thumbsup2 Thanks for asking.

Which WW DVD do you have, they have three at my weigh in center and I was wondering if they were any good. Glad to know someone likes them besides someone who works for them ;)

Just checking in...I have not been feeling very peepish so far this week. As I predicted my weight jumped up a bit over the weekend. I had a feeling my loss Friday was a fluke. I need to get my head back in the right frame of mind. I need to start checking in here more often too I think.

I have just been feeling so blah. I guess stress over my upcoming surgery and trying to get ready for that is most of the problem. Baby is doing well, so he is not to blame- sleeping about 8-9 hrs now at night. Whoohooty! Reflux is much better now that we are thickening his bottles. (The darn thickener is so expensive but it works) Now that summer is finally here I think I will start feeling better too. Once I can start swimming and exercising more it should help my mood.

Anyways, hope everyone is having a good week so far!

I'm another who is not feeling peepish. Between being sick and work/family schedule, my only exercise for the last week has been one ride on the exercise bike last night, and I feel like I just can't get the eating under control. I feel bloated and gross (AF is here for one of her rare but unwelcome visits).
I think I need to declare tomorrow a no-cheat day for myself. Is anyone with me? I can do it for one day, and take it from there, right?

GOOD MORNING!

HAPPY NO-CHEAT DAY! I'm with ya, Danielle!

I didn't do so hot yesterday either. I left work early to go to the middle school to vote and work on the play program. The kids have (for the most part) put the program together but I have to work on it at school since the version it was created in is about 5 generations newer than my home version of Publisher. (Anyway....Mimi had pizza waiting when I got home. I know.)

So I'm going back today to work on the program and then straight to the dance team banquet but good news! DH has agreed to go to the camp out on Friday night! YAY!

So everybody have a good day today!

NO CHEATING! :)

Me too

I think I need to declare tomorrow a no-cheat day for myself. Is anyone with me? I can do it for one day, and take it from there, right?

No cheat day for me today too.:thumbsup2

I got weighed in yesterday at WW and I gained but not that bad considering our family was visiting and I ate out three times. Water is not my friend on the weekends, gotta change that.

Have a good day everyone.

Laura

I missed this yesterday - Congratulations on not having to go on meds! Thats great news!

I was a little wary of getting the DVD at first because my old WW leader recommended it (as she obviously would!) but its great. Its called 'Perfect Fit'. You can choose how long you do the routine for - anything from 5 minutes up to 60 minutes and you can also 'personalise' the routine - do bums and tums exercises, leg ones, arm ones. Its really good!

No cheat day for me too, Ive just had my lunch that I prepared yesterday so I wouldn't snack on rubbish, and im just eating a low low fat banana and custard yoghurt to get rid of the sweet cravings!

Have a great day everyone! :)
