:dance3: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PUNKIN!!!!!:dance3:

 :sad2: Oh, Dene...I'm so sorry! I thought you looked fabulous! What do your parents have to say about you now! :)

Mom is the most verbal (and weird  )... she called me the other day to come over so my cousin could "see me"... sorry Mom, we're in Fort Worth. And apparently, she's been telling EVERYBODY that I'm related to that hasn't seen me since I lost weight. As long as she doesn't start telling strangers, I think it will be okay. :lmao:

Anyway, I think when you see someone you knew as "young" they don't tend to look so old. i.e. someone at your class reunion? ;)

That's what I'm kinda hoping for... :rolleyes1

I didn't say I was normal!!

Sounds about "normal"... for me! :rotfl:

my mom called me this morning and told me that my great aunt died earlier today. she's been really sick, had bouts with cancer for years. they told her she was clear of any cancer a year ago and then a few months ago it came back and she refused to have surgery or be admitted to the hospital or anything - she just wanted to stay home with her family. anyway, very sad, but very expected. she lived a good life and had a big, loving family and died happy, i think. at first i was kind of upset that she died on my birthday, but then i realized it made it kind of special.

 :flower3:

all these dead frogs on the road are freakin me out... darn dead frogs ewww... I made it to this road, I may as well try and get up the hill, darn dead frogs....

:rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao: I think your train of thought and my train of thought are very similar... and they do NOT run on straight tracks!!!!

what helps in successful weight loss.

I think that it is three things... 1) Finding a diet plan that you can live with and stick to. 2) Exercise, exercise, exercise, and 3) Deciding that, for you, this is the most important thing in your life.

Excellent! That sums it all up!:yay:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAWN...

Sorry if this is TMI... but my daughter doesn't really understand and there would be too much explaining to tell my mother...

At the very end of May, I had my first gynecologist visit in well over 19 years... everything was fine. I asked about taking the birth control pills where you only have a period once every 3 months (after 32 years of AF, the thought was appealing). Soooo, I started taking Seasonique... when you first start them, AF might make minor appearances... nothing major. During the 4th week (the one where AF would have come without the pills), she showed up... minor visit. Well, 2 1/2 weeks later, she still hasn't left. I stopped taking those stupid things last Sunday (after 2 weeks of AF). If she doesn't go away soon, I may just have a bit of a fit. Wonder if that's why I've had a hankering for salty/fatty foods (especially pizza) for the last couple of weeks?

Excellent Kat :thumbsup2 Thanks for the encouragement!

 Celery just know I'm afraid to go to the trip report area... :rolleyes1 It sucks hours of my life!! :rotfl2: and people wonder why I'm

Christine I love this!!! (more birthday wishes!!)

:rotfl2: Dene:rotfl2: Sorry, if your mom is anything like my mom - trust me, she's telling strangers!! I can hear her at the check out counter at the grocery store, at the WalMart, she'll be in an aisle somewhere and someone will complain about their weight, and your mom so full of Mom pride will jump right in and tell her all about you Dene!!

TMI warning:
I want to be in Fort Worth!! :goodvibes Golly I miss Texas!! (my relatives are from Grayson County - gotta head north about an hour!) Good luck with AF - have you googled? Since I'm old, I cant relate - I will say when AF wouldnt leave I got to the gyny and she gave me 3 choices, bc pills, hystersister, or burn it out (ablation) none appealed, so I went back to bc pills for a year everything worked out again - then I went to wdw and she was no aunt but by gawd she was flo! I went back to get it taken care of for good!!

Safe now, back to the regularly scheduled thread... :rolleyes1:
aw, if only jumpin waves on the Jet Ski could be exercise!! I'm telling you, I've been out on the lake 3 times today... I need to shower, but I put in the laundry, hit the lake... put clothes in dryer, made a smoothy, did some weight/strength training... (and that'd be 100 crunches!!) then hit the lake... I know I can do one more round before dinner!! Too bad there is no benefits waist wise - it reminded me of that Carosol of Progress - the machine that you belt your but and shake it!!! roflol!! There isnt any g forces, but it feels like it with the strong wind, with the speed 45mph feels faster!!

I have thought about having the ablation after the baby is born. I have several friends who have had it done and they are very happy about having it done. Have any of you had it done?

Happy birthday!!! Here's a traditonal Irish Blessing that I always like to recite for people's birthdays.

May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

thank you!!!! i love the irish blessing....it's so thoughtful!

Happy Birthday Dawn!

:rockband: :cheer2: :music: :cool1: :dance3: :woohoo:

thank you! it has been so far!

Happy birthday Dawn....:bday: !!!! Hope you have a GREAT ONE!

thank you!!!

Dawn, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

I think that it is three things... 1) Finding a diet plan that you can live with and stick to. 2) Exercise, exercise, exercise, and 3) Deciding that, for you, this is the most important thing in your life.

Not to say cheat days and occasional slipups aren't going to happen, but overall, saying that my weight and my health are more important to me than that cookie, cake, chip, etc. And if I do eat that cookie, I will make it up... eat less the following day, or even just jump back on and not let this slip get me down. Exercise is important because it makes you feel good and also helps me at least stay on the straight and narrow... I am not going to do all that work just to erase it with bad eating!!

And finally, this group is awesome. Having to account to myself and everyone on Fridays really helps.

thank you for the birthday wishes! and i just want to say that the above was very well said! :thumbsup2

boys will have no interest in this, so if you're a male, please don't read any further unless you want to learn more about womanly issues! i take yaz. i used to take yasmin (not sure if that's spelled right) and i asked my gyno about getting something with less estrogen in it becuase i felt like my AF was unnecessarily intrusive, if you know what i mean. plus i felt like a higher does of estrogen wasn't helping me lose weight! so she suggested yaz. basically it has a lower dose of estrogen and instead of only 21 days of active pills and 7 days of non-active (sugar) pills, you take 24 days of active pills and 4 days of non-active pills, thereby shortening the time that AF is visiting. AND it's much less intense. i seriously have like 30 minutes of cramps and i don't even go through one box of kotex every month! so while it's not skipping two cycles, it's still shortening the one you have and making it much more tolerable! just thought i'd share that with you since it seems to be working well for me.

Now, if my mom ever left the house, I might have to worry about this! :lmao:

aw, if only jumpin waves on the Jet Ski could be exercise!!

It may not be a LOT of exercise (like kickboxing or something), but it IS exercise... at least as much as a casual walk around the park. You're using your body to control the machine... leaning into turns, jumping the waves... you have to steer with your arms, hold on with your legs, and hold yourself upright with your core as the thing changes positions. It's like when you played as a kid... because it was fun, it didn't seem like exercise even though it really was. :woohoo:

I may try that if I decide to go back to bc pills. I just figure I'll stop taking them and let mother nature do her own thing... it's not like I'm at risk of getting pregnant anyway. :upsidedow (which is why I didn't want to discuss it with my mother... she would have wondered why I needed them... I dunno, wishful thinking?:rolleyes1 )

I tried to post earlier but it didn't let me.

Thanks for appreciating my comments... I am afraid sometimes I get preachy.

Eeyore, jetskiing DEFINITELY counts as exercise. It burns 648 calories an hour according to sparkpeople.com. So enjoy it!!

Dawn, how pretty.

More female talk coming....

Can I just say that I am PMSing like a mad woman today? Whoa...holy mood swings. I snapped at a fellow clinician twice today at camp. Luckily her and not the kids. And when I was working upstairs and A. (the crush) walked in and didn't say anything, I got all agitated and stomped out once I was done. I felt like I was stomping anyway. And I'm feeling really blue and worn out. Then I feel better. Then I'm blue again.

Ugh...the joys of being a woman.

:cool1: Thanks Kat - and then... :rotfl2: I tell my dad this and he says... "yeah and how many gallons of gas an hour? I think it burns 10 gallons an hour," :rotfl2: So, was that a popping noise you heard?? (the bubble bursting?? :rotfl2: )

We gotta luv our parents... and pray that my kids dont talk about me behind my back like I am... or that I have broken the cycle - eh??!!!

Now then..

SUCK IT UP AND SUCK IT IN!!

Can I just say, having had a hysterectomy was the biggest blessing EVER!?

I still have ovaries....still get all PMSy but NOOOOO monthly "menses"....(Isn't THAT a funny word? I learnt it in 5th grade maturation class). No annoying Aunt Florance showing up.

Getting spayed was the best thing for me EVER! :cool2:

(Poor Thread Hunk!!!! I hope you had lots of sisters WI Disneyfan!!!)

I WISH I was the tag fairy, Shannon!

Hope you're feeling better!

Happy Birthday DAWN!!!!

Many years ago my absolute favorite great uncle died on my birthday. It bothered me a bit at the time, but I'm actually kind of glad, because every year on my birthday I think of him and the memories of him are a great birthday present to myself! Thinking of him on my birthday is a happy thing for me!

Can I just say, having had a hysterectomy was the biggest blessing EVER!?

Except for getting my tonsils out when I was 2, I've never had any kind of surgery. Wonder if I could get someone to do a combination tummy-tuck, breast lift, umbilical hernia repair, and hysterectomy all at the same time! :lmao:

Popping in real quick to wish Happy Birthday to Punkin!! I never got in here this morning, hope you had a great day!!!

Off to try to catch up!

So much talk of Good Ol Aunt Flow today!
Anyways, another TMI on it...
I also take Yaz and its for a different reason- I am actually have that condition in the Yaz commercial called PMDD and I had to track my symptoms and when I had them and such... basically I understand why woman have gotten off of murder charges because of PMS... I was super bi-otch. I was horrible and sad and angry and every bad feeling turned out I had PMDD which basically means PMS times 10 (another reason I know my DBF and I are soulmates- he stuck through the times I was uber nasty).... Yaz is so wonderful I don't even realize I got my period. I maybe have to use a pantiliner MAYBE. Haven't used a pad or tampon in over a year. I get it for 2 days and no PMS symptoms at all except for a little but of insomnia. So, Dene and anyone else out there I would recommend it. Also, my mom had a similar problem to you when taking a similar pill- I don't know that name of hers but she was supposed to get it 4 times a year and she got it every month for 2 weeks sometimes. Anyways hope that helps....
AND...

Happy Birthday Punkin!
Have a great Mexican dinner!
Oh and how does eveyrone always know eachothers birthdays? and real names for that matter? is there a list circulating I dont know about?

Happy Birthday Dawn!!!!

thanks so much pixie. this brought a tiny tear to my eye. when i went home to tennesee a couple of weeks ago we went to see her (because we knew the time for her to leave was coming soon and i wanted to see her one last time) and she was lucid and talking, but mostly she just held my hand. i think when people are saying their goodbyes they just want to feel close to the people they care about. it was hard, but i was strong for her and i think she enjoyed that.

Popping in real quick to wish Happy Birthday to Punkin!! I never got in here this morning, hope you had a great day!!!

thank you!!!

so is there anyone still devoted to "so you think you can dance" like i am? i just LOVE that show! my favorites tonight were sabra/dominic and lauren/neil. i wish i could move like that!

good news......my brother cut his dreds off today!!! he called me to tell me happy birthday and told me. he said he couldn't get a job at pf chang's with the dreds so he chopped them. i told him he'd definitely get more dates that way. he said, "really?" i think that sparked his interest! celery - if you're ever in the west end area and you want to eat at pf chang's, ask for brooke (my sister) or brett (my brother). they both work there now. tell them you know me! oh, and i think there's two brookes so ask for brooke g. (don't want to give my maiden name out on the internet!)
