Happy Birthday Dawn!

Cue the :music:

Some one has a birthday, who could it be?
Would you put your hand up, so all may see?
Now will you tell us how old you are?
So that we may give you this shiny star.
A happy birthday, a happy birthday,
we wish you a Happy Birthday!

GOOD MORNING, PEEPS! :sunny:

Thanks for all the nice (unexpected!) comments about my 80's hair! You are all so sweet.
if not, i won't be sad if i dont' go to weigh in...:rolleyes1
If you do the crime, you gotta do the time! Gina, everybody is allowed to cheat on their birthday week. I think it's in the rule book!? Anyway, hope weigh in went better than you thought!
don't worry.......i'm definitely not going for the bobble head look a la nichole richie or kiera knightly......gross!
Oh. I thought I quoted the part about Brooke. I hope she's able to sort out his actions/her feelings and make the right decision about Jon. He doesn't live in Nashville does he?
only gained 1.8 pounds. Must have been all that walking and sweating I was doing.
Welcome back, Robin! 1.8 is awesome! Very low! Glad you had fun. Did my advice help at all?
His moral to the story -- tats may look great for a while, but that's not worth having to wear long sleeves when you get older.
10 or so years ago, I was in the bathroom at a restaurant and several college girls were in there...one pulled her pants down to show the other girls the new tattoo she got on spring break. It was a rose on her lower abdomen. She got it so that it would be under her bathing suit. I told her that the first time she got pregnant, it would be the size of a small pizza. You should've seen the look on her face. "I never thought of that" she said.
He has cried so much in the past couple of days that I regret having the surgery done.
Oh, Fran! Is he better now? Hopefully the good will outweigh the bad in the long run.
In junior high (yes, it was junior high instead of middle school), I had the Dorothy Hamil haircut.
Me too! In 8th grade...circa 1975. I had it cut to match a Frost n' Tip ad that I cut out!
Not to mention she turned my light red hair to "tahitian cherry" ..........:rotfl:
Tahitian Cherie! I love the pictures! I could send some much more incriminating ones of me if I had a scanner.
that's my little brother hugging my neck....i think he was about 3.
I love that picture! My girls are almost 11 and 7 years older than my son. My oldest DD has always been his "other mother" and this picture reminds me of them.
Here's a couple I posted before. The first one's my sophomore year.
You are adorable! Love the bangs!
In high school, they actually took my mustang away because I didn't lose a lb. a week.
 :sad2: Oh, Dene...I'm so sorry! I thought you looked fabulous! What do your parents have to say about you now! :)
Since I graduated in 2001, I still have clothes I wore in high school let alone be ready to say how bad the style was, lol...
Hilarious! I love the couple with the Hamma pants! And it's official. I AM old enough to be your mom. Now sit down and eat your vegetables!
are we nuts???????
Yes! You are nuts. I very slooowly worked my way through school waiting tables so I can relate. Enjoy your weekends. You've earned them. And...don't you have to type a lot on the weekends?
OK...I found a picture, scanned it, uploaded it and here it is....
Gayle you look mahvalous! At least your hair's not too high! BTW...I've been meaning to ask...is that you and DH in your siggie?
Hope that helps Dene and others... I am about 5'7-5'8, for reference, and very much an apple shape.
No...you're not an apple. You have nice curves! I am an H.....no curves at all and every extra ounce wraps itself right around my waist. I have GREAT apple potential.
I've also noticed signs of age that I never noticed before (because, as my daughter says I had extra padding that hid the wrinkles).
My brain hasn't processed the changes either. Sometimes I look in the mirror and go  ...who is that? Anyway, I start to look a lot older when I get too thin. I think your DD is right about that. And you know, I think men our age look old too. Occasionally I'll see one that looks good but then I always see a 22 year old on his arm. :confused3 (What do they talk about?) Anyway, I think when you see someone you knew as "young" they don't tend to look so old. i.e. someone at your class reunion? ;)

EVERYONE HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!

Thanks everyone for your cell phone answers!

I knew I shouldn't have sent it. Now its going to be bugging me if A. got it or not. Oh well.

I'm a little late but here is two scenarios...DH had a work cell and a reg cell. His reg cell had text mess. blocked so it would look like I sent them but he never got them (when we first started dating) On his work cell he could receive them but could not respond. The work cell was Sprint and the reg. cell was Verizon. Hope that helps! :confused3

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAWN!!!
pixiedust: :bday: party:
You are not much older than me lol.

Loving all the pictures!! Do you remember the BOW LOW (sp) Ties. At my school they were very popular--the thight rolled pants went out when I think I was in the 8th or 9th grade.

I will see if there are any pictures of me, but I dought it. I am the 4th child and you know how that goes--plus I don't think I could show my hair. It wasn't style bad., but just all bad :scared1: Kinky, curly, frizzy hair--yuck!!

I had a feeling that was naturally curly hair! Me too! I fought with it for years, and now I've surrendered. I have no control anyway!

I do have naturally wavy hair. That sophomore pic of me - that was, in fact, a perm. I used to get piggyback spiral perms back then. They lasted FOREVER because of my naturally wavy hair, and my senior year I actually had the perm stripped out because it wouldn't go away! So, yeah that's a perm, but dont' ask me why I got them because I probably could have done something similar with my hair without the perm. I guess I wanted the extra POOF! :rotfl:

I had a dream last night that I missed my plane to the Peep Meet!! No one gave me a boarding pass or told me the flight # so I was running through the airport trying to find AirTran. A worker stopped me and gave me a kids ID bracelet and said they would hold the plane for me if they saw that. I didn't say I was normal!!

Total and complete wimp here - confession..

Melinda
:goodvibes What an AWESOME recap :goodvibes Thank you for taking the time to include what's been happening around here - I have been reading, but not taking notes, not stopping to take the time to name the Peeps who need a shout out, who keep the place chattin, or the peeps who stop in and give a hand up to this slacker!!

Thank you for hitting the highlights, reminding me of special requests, and needs, and just :goodvibes

I truly loved reading your morning post... and thinking... you are so special - thank you!!

also Peeps thru reading Lexi's post I just got the goosebumps, and the sighs, and the - saying up a prayer for her, for him, for her, for them... just know there are many of us behind the scenes - and all you LURKERS dont be afraid to come out and post... Newbies dont feel neglected if your names not mentioned - post post post!! We're here together, on a long journey... posting helps make the journey more pleasant!!

Live, Love, Laugh

But for goodness sake - do 3 things for YOU for TODAY!!

1. Drink 8 glasses of water
2. Do 100 crunches.
3. SUCK IT UP AND SUCK IT IN (while you are sitting at your computer - what's your posture like? well, then SUCK in your gut!! Sit up straight!! IT MATTERS!! and while you are driving, if you stop at a light... you'd better be sucking it in, and then throw in some kegel exercises for good measure!! ;)

Yes! You are nuts. I very slooowly worked my way through school waiting tables so I can relate. Enjoy your weekends. You've earned them. And...don't you have to type a lot on the weekends?

jon actually lives on a base in clarksville right now, which is about an hour or a little more from nashville, i think. he's moving to kennesaw (just north of atlanta) to go to school at the end of this month. the distance could be both a good thing and a bad thing for them. we'll see!

yeah, i do type on the weekends. i mentioned that to ray. i don't have to type on the weekends, but if i didn't i wouldn't get my work turned around so quickly. they love me at the firm because i never take more than two weeks turning around my work and i like it that way! anyway, we're going to think about it for awhile before doing anything. we wouldn't start til october anyway and work through the new year. the holiday season is the busiest time of year for restaurants. i'm sure we'd both just go to chili's because we worked there for 5 years and already know everything! plus you can make good money in the bar there. i don't know.....i'm still thinking about it. i wish i was just naturally rich!

:scared1: um.....i REALLY hope that's not a premonition...for your sake and mine! ;)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAWN!!!
pixiedust: :bday: party:
You are not much older than me lol.

thank you!!!

not much going on for my birthday. i'm actually off work today. i didn't ask off...it just happened that way. but me being off work doesn't mean i'm not working...just that i'm not going to court or a deposition. i thought about going to the water park by myself just to have some relaxing alone beach time, but it's really cloudy here. i'm getting my hair did (just trimmed) this afternoon and then ray and i are going to eat mexican tonight....i'm so cheating!

my mom called me this morning and told me that my great aunt died earlier today. she's been really sick, had bouts with cancer for years. they told her she was clear of any cancer a year ago and then a few months ago it came back and she refused to have surgery or be admitted to the hospital or anything - she just wanted to stay home with her family. anyway, very sad, but very expected. she lived a good life and had a big, loving family and died happy, i think. at first i was kind of upset that she died on my birthday, but then i realized it made it kind of special.

my friend erin (the one who's going with me to the peep meet) just called me and started singing this to me.....

we made your a birthday cake
if you get a stomach ache
and you moan and woe and groan
don't forget we told you so!

she said her dad made that up. silliness!!!

Last night we were watching a show called "Just for Laughs"

:rotfl2: Talk about laughing so hard it hurts!!! This is a brilliant show, no words, no talk talk chatty talk with hosts... just music and the "gags, pranks"

So I youtubed it!!

This was one gag - the funniest one was people going down a lazy river, laying back, eyes closed... then a "blind man" *he had a white cane) unzips and shows the camera its a tube with water, then next to a bush by the lazy river, he lets it loose - and people get wet... omg! :rotfl2:

My poor dad has a sprained rib... he re injured it, he ran out of the house because he couldnt watch without laughing... and he has an African Grey Parrot that was mimmicing our laughter!!

Happy Happy Birthday Dawn!!

i think i've seen that one before! i just remember this one black guy got soooooo mad about being peed on. too funny!

Punkin - Happy birthday! It's weird that we're the same age. And didn't you grow up here in Nashville too? And were into the rave scene?
I wonder if we know some of the same people.

But anyway! Happy birthday! :rockband: :rockband: :rockband: :rockband: These are my favorite party guys.
I like putting on the killers and pretending they're singing to it.
I'm weird.

Lex -
YOU ARE BEAUTIMOUS! Wow.

hockey - I think your goal weight will look good on you. Not anorexic at all.

I was playing around with the weight loss model from prevention that Dene posted.
I kept saying my goal weight is 130 (I'm 5'4"), but it just looks too thin to me.
So I'm thinking of changing it to 150.
So I only have 90 more pounds to go! Woo!

yes, i grew up in nashville, but actually in gallatin. although i did work in nashville at L&N seafood (where ted's montana grill is now on west end - my little brother waits tables in the same building....wierd!) i also worked at mick's at rivergate mall and logan's in rivergate. i HATED logan's, but i made good money there. anyway, i didn't get into the rave scene until i came to georgia, so i doubt it!

and i LOVE the killers!!! wow....we have a lot in common. brandon flowers is one of the only men alive that can get away with black eyeliner and still look hot IMO! never seen them in concert before, but i want to soon! my sister saw them in birmingham a couple summers ago and she called me during "mr. brightside". it was around 1:00 a.m. and of course i was asleep, so i got up and went in the kitchen so i wouldn't wake ray up and i ended up dancing all around the kitchen in my PJs to the killers at 1:00 in the morning!

well, peeps...i'm off for a birthday jog. i figured i'd need it since i will be cheating big time tonight. and anna/wonderwomen is on vacation in destin this week, so no gym time for me. i have a feeling friday won't be a good weigh-in day.....but it's my birthday week so i won't be too upset about it! have a good day everyone!!!

Whoohooty! We have some hot mamas here! Where are our peep men at? Come on....we want to see your 80's hair and bad fashion too. Anyone have a pic with the skinny piano tie and acid wash jeans they care to share? (or was that just an east coast fashion trend?)
Seeing as how I'm pretty much the only guy left here, I'm your only hope. And unfortunately for you (but rather fortunately for me) I don't have any old pictures of myself floating around. I was never big into having my picture taken, so the photos of me are few and far between. All of my high school year books were pretty much destroyed when my basement flooded in my old house when the water softener blew a fuse. I had to throw them away when we were packing because they were moldy. But I never had bad hair; I think from my sophomore year on, I've cut my hair really short. The only bad fashion I had was Zubaz pants (aka Hammer pants) that I loved in high school. But since I tend to shy away from having my picture taken, I don't think any exist of me in 80's or early 90's fashion.

Remember when Punkin said yesterday that she was very close to 31? Well she was very, very close.....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PUNKIN!!!

We love you, Dawn!
Happy birthday!!! Here's a traditonal Irish Blessing that I always like to recite for people's birthdays.

May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life's passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

GOOD MORNING, PEEPS! :sunny:
If you do the crime, you gotta do the time! Gina, everybody is allowed to cheat on their birthday week. I think it's in the rule book!? Anyway, hope weigh in went better than you thought!

Happy birthday Dawn....:bday: !!!! Hope you have a GREAT ONE!

Hope everyone is having a great day..we finally got internet back here at work so now i am catching up with my Peeps :goodvibes LOVING the pics!

Monday - 3 miles
Tuesday - walked, shopped, Flea Market (Shipshewana) 12.5 miles (6 hours)
Wednesday - 3 miles

I'm not going to make it. I quit. I cant quit. Just slow and steady. Dont look back, dont look forward... all these dead frogs on the road are freakin me out... I think I'll just do one mile. I hate running... its hot out here... darn dead frogs ewww... oh great, I feel a pebble in my shoe... not a rock size, its a princess and the pea, I know its there.... I think I can make it to the end of this road, then I'm quitting. I hate running. I'm old, I'm fat, I'm slow... 13 miles.. :lmao: yeah, that's so not going to happen... I made it to this road, I may as well try and get up the hill, darn dead frogs.... its hot... I'm slow... hey this bra is holding 'em up... Listen... Wynona is in my head now... let that be a lesson to each and every one of you, if you're crazy and you believe in yourself, YOU CAN DO IT... I believe it, I've been on the road 18 years and I'm a survivor, I wake up every day and say "GOD".... why not me? Well crap, that means I have to go up the next hill now... ok, that was 3 min, now its time for the song Kokomo... "baby why dont we go..."

Its a struggle, no doubt about it. July 29th I have to run a 5K... and I know I'll make a laughingstock out of myself, people walk faster than me...

Thanks everyone!

Dene, I totally hear you on the finding someone in a crowd and asking if I am that big/small... I do that to DH all the time.

Dawn, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

I weighed this morning and was 183.8. I hope it sticks for Friday weighin!

On my way to work, I was thinking about a question someone on here asked (to dene I think) about what helps in successful weight loss. As I am now down almost 35 lbs, maybe I qualify to answer...

I think that it is three things... 1) Finding a diet plan that you can live with and stick to. 2) Exercise, exercise, exercise, and 3) Deciding that, for you, this is the most important thing in your life.

Not to say cheat days and occasional slipups aren't going to happen, but overall, saying that my weight and my health are more important to me than that cookie, cake, chip, etc. And if I do eat that cookie, I will make it up... eat less the following day, or even just jump back on and not let this slip get me down. Exercise is important because it makes you feel good and also helps me at least stay on the straight and narrow... I am not going to do all that work just to erase it with bad eating!!

And finally, this group is awesome. Having to account to myself and everyone on Fridays really helps.

Sandy! you're doing great! Keep it up! Don't get discouraged!!!!!

punkin - the killers were here earlier in the year. I wanted to go SOOOO bad, but I was broke.

Everyone - I started a pretrip report for the September trip.
Y'all should go read it!
