DISappearing Peeps...A fastpass to THIN! Part 4

Well, it isn't my first choice, but it will get me in and hopefully to my goal.

I worked in LA, CA schools for 16.5 years. We moved to NC 2 years ago and I have been staying at home since we moved.

I was a teacher for 12 years and a school counselor for 4.5 years in LA.

I interviewed at four schools and only got one offer. It was actually a horrible experience. I finally realized that in CA I had networked pretty well and that that was why it was so easy for me to get the jobs I wanted. Here noone knows me or the people I worked for.

Anyway, I took a teaching job for next fall. I wanted a counseling job but they are few and far between and I have heard that with budgeting issues, there may be even fewer than they thought.....so, I figured I would at least get myself networked a bit before trying to find a counseling job.

I will be working at 3, possibly 4 different schools (2 high schools and 1 middle school on the list right now), doing a pull-out program for ESL kids. I am actually really excited about it. I do have an MA in teaching ESL and many years of experience, so I do love it. I just really wanted to get back into the counseling office.

Anyway, just thought I would share. I haven't worked in NC yet and the pay and benefits are nowhere near where they should be, but they aren't as bad as they could be!

That sounds like you'll be busy next year! Congratulations! Teachers are saints!

Hi Ladies!!!!

Anyway, I need to do some catching up, but really just wanted to say  "HI" so you didn't forget about me!!! :cutie:

Thanks. Actually, I believe Elem. teachers are the saints.....I can barely deal with my own young children some days! I need kids once they have some reasoning skills of some sort! LOL!

'ello all!
hope everyone had a lovely memorial day weekend..the sun was a-shining over here in the Northeast..still is :thumbsup2

anyhoo...saw pirates III...eh. It was entertaining, but i really think they could have cut about 45 min. of it here and there to make a more digestable film. i still enjoyed it, but...it was far too long for my bladder to sit through! :lmao:

WW weigh in for me tonight, i am a bit nervous as i was not 100% on plan this weekend..i tried, and def. did well compared to what i normally would have eaten, so i should be a little proud regardless of the number i get tonight..oh well, tis' another week.
think skinny peeps! have a good one!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WINKERS!!!

Hope it's a wonderful day, Cherie!!!

Sorry so late! I have thought all day it was Monday 5-28....those Monday holidays always mess me up! Hope you have a beautiful lil' niece to share your birthday with you just like I do!

Saw POC this weekend with DH & DS...I did enjoy it, but found I was a little lost some of the time. :confused3 Didn't have an issue with sitting that long, as I "went" before the movie started and didn't have anything to drink! :lmao: I had to do that, as I "ran out" of POC 2 and missed the last 4 min! That wasn't gonna happen again! :rotfl:

DD(15) is trying to convince me that the demographic for POC is the teenage girl and that is why they have Orlando Bloom in the movie. I said no the demographic is the 45 year mom and THAT is why Orlando Bloom is in the movie!

This movie is definitely for us "over 40" group! What did all of you think of the "Cap'n Jack look-a-like" pirate???? Definitely there for those of us who would remember him!!! :lmao:

(Insert wolf whistle here!)
THANKS!!! :thumbsup2

I loved all the Captain Jacks! Gives a whole new meaning to Billy Joel's "Captain Jack" lyrics!

Did you watch "21 Jump Street" back when FOX was a new network. DH and I never missed it! DD got DH the DVD set for Christmas this year!

I'm sooooo proud of you!!!

Pirates 3 ROCKED my socks! But, did y'all STAY past the credits?????? I didn't but Misty filled me in. :rolleyes1

The extreme close up of his nose pores or wadded up hair was sort of gross. The little Jacks (the good one and the bad one) bugged me a little too, BUT, he was crazy, so it worked.

WELL THERE WE HAVE IT!!!!!! POST NUMBER 4567!!!!!!! Woooo Hooooty!

Just wanted to say hi! I'm back!!! I missed my Peeps so! But we had a lot of fun.

Now, I am NOT going to try to catch up on the ??? # of pages I missed. :scared1: Could someone give me a summary, of sorts, on what I missed?

I hope everyone had a great and skinny week! :) Mine was NOT skinny! But we'll see exactly how much damage was done on weigh in day. I don't trust the scale on other days, I guess. :rotfl: But I did get on there this morning, and it looks like I gained 6-7 lbs. maybe? I figure I need a couple of days to get back in the swing of things, and it might even itself out a little, so I'm not freaking out about it...yet.

WELCOME BACK, LYNDA!!! We wuz gettin worried! We'll help ya undo all the damage from the trip. Don't worry. Will you posting the first installment tonight???
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, WINKERS!!!

WELCOME HOME LYNDA!!! WE MISSED YOU!!! Did you just love OKW?

I need to vent about something and I feel funny talking about it with my mom so you all are getting stuck reading it.

It's no secret that my dad is not doing so great. He mentioned in his voicemail on my bday that he had had some bad sessions plus he did not sound well at all.

Well this morning my mom was out front with Phoebe when a former co worker of my mom and dad drove by and asked about my dad (he's actually a jerk and was totally fishing for info) Anyway, this coworker said he too heard that he isn't doing very well and that he has been calling people to make "amends". This is hugely upsetting for me. I have so many conflicting emotions going on its not even funny. Then I get all selfish and think why is this happening to me, right now? I don't deal with this kind of stuff. I don't have heart to heart talks. They make me incredibly uncomfortable - with everyone. Especially with someone who I have had such a not so great relationship with. It sounds so forced to be all "I love you...etc." But then I feel bad and selfish for thinking things like that because he is my dad and he's (apparently) dying of cancer! Part of me knows I will be devastated when the time comes and part of me is just "eh, whatever it's not like we were that close." How horrible am I? :sad2:

Anyway, just needed to vent. I'd take some advice or thoughts too if you have them but not necessary.

 I know this must be really tough for you! I think that Punkin had great advice. You have to follow your heart and do what you think is right. Sometimes if I am upset or confused about something I just start writing to get all of my feelings out. Maybe that could help?? I will say a prayer for you!

My mom noticed my weight loss today too. :goodvibes She knows of course I am losing but she told me today she could see it in my face and my clothes fit so loose now! .
:cheer2: That is awesome!

Fly by post - long busy weekend - driving forever (7 hours there, 7 hours back!) Wedding was beautiful (cousin) came home, and barely have unpacked - car is acting horribly - both cars are in bad shape - uggg it never rains, it pours here!

got a call asking me to substitute tomorrow - a tragedy occured at the school - so just lifting up the family and kids in prayer .. .
 I am really sorry to hear about that!

i just got finished making some pico de gallo and thought i'd share the recipe with you guys. . enjoy!

Thank you for sharing! It sounds really good! I love that you keep your own house seasoning (Paula style!:) ).

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Well I have to be at Teacher work day in 1 hour---so I hope you all have a good day.

How was your teacher work day? I just got back from mine.:thumbsup2 Although I still have some packing to do. At least the cume folders and report cards are done.:cool1:

Today is going to be one of the longest days ever! My lil' Sis went in at 6 this morning for an amnio to make sure her baby's lungs are developed enough to do a c-section at 6 tonight. She won't get the results untill around 4. And it really stinks because I'm 12 hours away and have to wait here all by my lonesome all excited. The last 18 months have been a real rollercoaster. First she was diagnosed with cervical cancer and had to go thru treatment. Then she was told that she would probably have a hard time conceiving and maintaing a pregnancy. So 1 month after she was cleared of cancer, she found out she was pregnant. She was soo excited. About 4 months ago she was diagnoses with diabetes, which they don't think is just gestational, and has been on a very strict diet and insulin since. Then about 2 weeks after that she started having gall bladder attacks! She is a little skinny thing and has only gained 6lbs the whole pregnancy because of all the problems. So anyway, I'm very anxiously waiting. The added bonus is I had a daughter on her birthday and if all goes well, she's going to return the favor!

I hope that everything with your sister goes well!

Happy Birthday!!!!!:cheer2: :woohoo: :cutie:

Welcome Back!!!

You were missed!:goodvibes I am glad that you had a great time. I can't wait to hear all about it in your TR. Things were pretty quiet around here. I think it was a busy week for a lot of people with school wrapping up and the holiday weekend. Tara did start a bio where we answered questions. That was fun to read everyones responses. :wave2:
