i think you should dress up like hermione and really freak him out!!! :lmao: just kidding. i'm sure you've already left and you look super cute! let us know how it went!!!!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: That is so funny...when we were talking about going to the movie he said that he isn't really a fan, that he doesn't "dress up or anything". Did he think that I did? :confused3 :rotfl:

And I didn't leave yet silly...it's a daytime date....tomorrow!

Any ideas Peeps?

i've gone from a size 14 to a size 8 and had the same "problem." i'm not complaining, mind you, but it's still annoying not to have anything to wear! i've been going to places like TJMaxx, ross, marshall's, old navy outlet (that i luckily have 10 minutes from my house!) and thrift stores to find cheap stuff because i don't want to spend so much money on clothes that i won't be wearing very long. don't know what you have in your area, but those are my suggestions. ;)

so, dene, are you officially back now? just wondering!

Thanks everyone! He called back almost exactly 2 hours later. We're going to a nice theater, but he hadn't been there before. So he asked if there were any restaurants around it and there are! So sounds like we're getting something to eat after. Which is good because how much conversation can we get in during a movie anyway? Although I did have a little brain fart. He asked if the 1:15 showing was fine but then it sounded like he meant he'd meet me at 1:15. But the movie starts at 1:15 :confused3 I'm not too concerned because another showing starts 20 minutes later so we can always catch that one. I'm pretty excited but anxious to see how he acts when we are alone outside of the clinic walls.

Still haven't decided on what to wear. Why is this so hard for me? My girlfriend said "girly colors". Most of my things are very neutral and look like they came from a JCrew or Gap catalog...khakis, white and black. Not so "girly". We'll see.

Hope you're all having a great weekend! :cutie:

so i'm confused now.....i guess you're going to a movie tomorrow then, right? i hope so! i don't think i could sit through a movie at 1:15 a.m.!!! wear what you're comfortable in and something that you feel good in. trust me.....you don't want to be uncomfortable! that always crushes my self-esteem and then you're worried about how you look. very good sign that he's treating this as sort of a "date." dinner and a movie (or vice versa)? sounds like a date to me!

What a great problem to have! I have a lot of luck with the Gap and Old Navy for more casual things. I've gotten a couple nicer tops and pants at the Gap. Mostly online with the Gap (tops they have in XL, but not always 16s or 18s in bottoms). Old Navy always has varying sizes in their stores and online too. I get a lot of things at Macy's. They have good sales a lot but if not, it can definitely add up. I'd say that right now I'm a 16...and an XL or L in tops depending on the style and brand.

Happy shopping!

Thanks! I've only ventured into Old Navy once... just a quickie to see what size ranges they had. Hadn't thought of trying Gap yet. :woohoo: I haven't shopped in a Gap since high school/college! (And I'm coming up on my 25th HS reunion, so it's been a while!)

Shannon....I agree about girly colors. I am a big fan of pastels. You are sooo NOT fat so don't hide behind black!! Come out and shine!!! :goodvibes Something light and summery would be super cute..especially with your hair color!!! It's daytime too so you don't have to worry about a sweater or jacket. Have a great time!!

How do you like WW? You have had a lot of succes it seems. I was thinking of joining this fall. Still undecided tho....
I personally love WW. I've been trying to lose weight for at least 10 years now. (In high school, I was still overweight but more of a muscular overweight, if that makes any sense. But all of my muscle turned to fat, so now I'm just plain old overweight.) Anyway, WW is the only thing that has worked for me. I was able to get down to about 195 5-6 years ago by walking it away; I would walk 6-7 miles every night after work. So I didn't have to change my eating habits much to accomplish that. But I plateaued at 195, and eventually ballooned up to 240. But with the help of WW (and the Peeps, of course), I've been able to get down to the 185 range. Anyway, the reason I like WW is because, unlike trying to diet on my own, it gives me guidelines of how much I can eat. I know that as soon as I reach my daily points total, I am done eating for the day. It just makes sense to me. And it also has helped me learn to make better choices. While living with my parents during our house building process, I was still able to lose about 10 pounds even though I pretty much stopped counting my points. I just knew that I had to eat sensibly, and not splurge too much. I didn't have huge losses, but I took the knowledge that two years of WW gave me to make good choices. But it isn't for everyone. You really have to be meticulous in counting points, and it does take a little extra effort to figure out the points in everything you eat. I don't go to the meetings. I have an online subscription for all of the helpful hints and recipes, and I have my wife and you guys for any support and accountability that I need. I sort of rambled on here (that's what happens when I am DISing after midnight), but if you want any more info/opinions, just say the word!

So not a huge update persay and I even questioned posting it because I didn't want to jinx it by talking too much about it, but I can't help it. I'm excited. So send some pixie dust that he calls me and the "date" goes really well.
That is tremendous! I know that I would never, ever see some of the movies that my wife dragged me to if I didn't love her. So this is a great sign! Keep us posted! popcorn:: :surfweb:

I've got a problem that I actually love having and many people would love to also have... In the last 6 months, I've spent a small fortune on clothes because of my weight loss. (Already given away 6 bags full of clothes, have another bag's worth ready to go, and I need to weed out the closet again.) For years there was only 1, maybe 2 stores where I could shop (sizes 28-32 aren't found just anywhere). Soooo, I've been used to having very limited choices and having to pay whatever they asked.

Most of the clothes I've been buying lately have come from Lane Bryant because I tend to like their styles (youngish without being for teens, sexy but not sleezy, dressy casual)... but even on sale and with spend $150/get $50 off things it has been adding up.

Thankfully, now I can wear 18s & 20s (maybe 16s if they were cut right because some of my 18s are getting big and the 18 dresses I tried on at Dillards swallowed me). If it weren't for this stupid extra skin on my belly, I could probably be a size smaller (cannot wait until I can get it surgically removed).

Because my size range has changed, I have realized that now, I can shop other places. Heck, I can even buy stuff from Victoria's Secret  (had to order it online, cause they just don't have the XL in the store). I know there has to be someplace where I can get cute, inexpensive clothes to wear during my transition phase.

Any ideas Peeps?

Dance? I KNOW you not only love to find a great bargain, but you know what is in our area!

Do you have a Fashion Bug around you. You may have a chance of catching one of their sales. Even their normal prices are sometimes doable.

When I went to JcPenny's for maternity clothes, they had a huge sale going on and every item was under 5.00 that I choose. The departments stores should have most summer clothes on sale now.

GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE!

Looks like another beautiful day at the pool for us today (after church.)

SHANNON!!! I'm so excited for you! How about a casual sundress and a sweater? (I always freeze to death at the movies.) Something pink or blue would be lovely with your blonde hair. Can't wait to hear all about it!

DENE....Not sure I'm a good one to ask because I buy everything at Target. They have great cheap basic khakis, tees, etc.

STACEY....We have a Tempurpedic mattress and I love it but DH...not so much. He sleeps "hot" on the bed...it just doesn't breath very well. My friend has a sleep number bed which sounds like Jen's select comfort. She loves it and she and her husband can each choose their level of comfort. Lynda got a new mattress not long ago but I can't remember what kind???

HAVE A GREAT DAY, EVERYONE!

In regards to the Where to buy" question...I have good luck at Target as well...I love the cutesy clothes at Gap and Old Navy, but I am a curvy girl and lots of the styles my store carries caters to a straiter figure...(my waist is a good bit narrower than my hips) I have had lots of luck at Cato too...and they sell anywhere from a 2-4 to a 24, with lots of hip prints...and our kohls store now carries some cute little tops maybe like a babydoll type look that is slightly low cut in the front (cleavage) with an empire waist and then goes into a flowing(not blousy, not clingy, just right) top the usually hits me right at he to of the hipbones...(ie no crackage showing) and you can dress these shirts up or down...ok rambling here- now i have to go clean !

I love the cutesy clothes at Gap and Old Navy, but I am a curvy girl and lots of the styles my store carries caters to a straiter figure.

i have the SAME problem! i swear to you that the bottom half of my body does not match the top half. it's like god decided to mesh two completely different people together. every single pair of pants/shorts i have always hang off my back where my waist is and cling to my hips....so annoying! not everyone is shaped like a boy!!! i've found that drawstrings help. my favorite pair of denim shorts has a drawstring at the top so i can pull the waist a little tighter than normal and the back of my pants doesn't provide a peep show for whoever is sitting behind me.

by the way, i came upon this really cool TR last night. this guy is doing his TR completely on video. and he's really talented. watch for the part where they're at the beach (they went to tampa the first day before they headed to disney) and there are some girls dancing and blocking their view of the sunset...he added the music "baby got back" to it and it just makes it hilarious! anyway, check it out.....he posts the links to all the installments in the first post, so it's easy to view.

Wonders, I think you should just pick something comfy that you love! I always feel the most comfortable in my favorite outfits!
Punkin and Dene, Do you guys have an Ann Taylor Loft by you? I loooooove ours- for work stuff and casual stuff. I mean, in the summer I am more of a Flips, Capris and tee shirt girls so I shop in like Old Navy, Kohls, Bass, Gap... ect... but for nice sweet and pretty stuff I usually go to Loft.

Wow... you are right- you did great with WW. Do you do the at home program or do you go into the center? In high school I did the at home winning points with my mom but I don't think I have the will power to do it now. lol. Does that make sense? I would own more responsibility for it if I actually had to go in somewhere. I think maybe come my first fall paycheck I will just go into the center and talk to them. It sounds like it would be a good step for me to realize how to control how much I eat instead of cutting things out cold turkey. I would be much better learning that way.

YAy!!! I needed a hit of WDW! thanks

so, dene, are you officially back now? just wondering!

 I guess I am! I'm still busy and doing as much or more than ever... but without that pesky "school/job" to go to, it seems I have plenty of time on my hands now! :yay:

I noticed two more of the Peeps drank from the Preggers fountain while I was gone. I've already been warned by my 19yo DD to stay away from that fountain... she told me she does NOT want a baby brother or baby sister. Uh... I can't even make it all the way through a date... don't think THAT is gonna be happening any time soon!

i've gone from a size 14 to a size 8 and had the same "problem." i'm not complaining, mind you, but it's still annoying not to have anything to wear! i've been going to places like TJMaxx, ross, marshall's, old navy outlet (that i luckily have 10 minutes from my house!) and thrift stores to find cheap stuff because i don't want to spend so much money on clothes that i won't be wearing very long. don't know what you have in your area, but those are my suggestions. ;)

Oh! I missed this one last night (we were both responding to something at the same time and yours got put above mine). I know I've heard of and seen those, just have to remember where I saw them! If nothing else, I can buzz the shopping centers around my favorite mall (which I rarely even go in)... seems like all but the Old Navy Outlet are in that area. I may need to make a trip to Grapevine Mills for outlets... that sounds like fun! We used to go there a lot... but I was never the right size range then!

I believe there is a Fashion Bug near my brother's house in Mansfield... that's the only one I remember seeing. I've been needing to go see him anyway (he's still recovering from the 3 brain surgeries he had in June).

I did go to Macy's and Dillard's last week to try on dresses that were all on sale. It was cool... I had always heard that the sizes at some of those places ran "big". Well, they did on me. The 18 dresses swallowed me. Unfortunately, the 16s just didn't lay right (my middle is thicker than it should be, causing my sizes to be out of whack).

Not sure I'm a good one to ask because I buy everything at Target. They have great cheap basic khakis, tees, etc.

I tried Target several pounds ago... need to give them another try. I used to be a curvy girl back in high school/college. My middle has become a problem (TMI warning... between an umbilical hernia that I'm waiting to get repaired and this darn "apron" of excess skin on my stomach, I HATE my belly... that WILL be fixed one day once my weight has stabilized).

I love the babydoll stuff!... it's the most flattering on me. Shows my assets and hides my less than perfect spots.

YES! Those are great colors!

On second thought... maybe black and white isn't a good choice. Didn't help me much... I was wearing a lacey black and white babydoll with black capris and black platform sandals on my "date". I thought I looked really good IN them. :rolleyes1

I believe there is one at Grapevine Mills... already planning a day trip there (especially before school starts... few of my current clothes would pass "dress code" because most are sleeveless and strappy).

Uh... I can't even make it all the way through a date... don't think THAT is gonna be happening any time soon!

Harley!... I may have to go for some counselling for PTDS (post traumatic date stress) I re-read that statement above and got this horrible flash of Dan "volunteering" for the job and got the shivers! :scared1: :scared:

yes, we have a loft near the mall i frequent, but i'm too scared to go in there...i'm afraid i'll spend too much money. i remember when i was shopping for a dress for my sister's college graduation i went into the regular anne taylor because they had some really cute dresses in the window. then i looked at the price......:scared1: i'm sorry....even if i was a millionaire i don't think i could spend that much money on one article of clothing! i know that loft is discounted stuff, but i also know i'm very bad about purchasing too much when it's on sale......i inherited that "but it's on sale so it's okay" mindset from my dad!

thanks for the woooo hooty! these last few pounds are driving me crazy. i was shedding the weight a lot quicker when i first started. now it's s-l-o-w-i-n-g down big time!!! i do have to share that i went into old navy outlet the other day because i love their tank tops to work out in and i needed some more.....anyway, while i was there i got a pair of khaki shorts because they were on sale for $12.99 (see what i mean??? they're on sale and i had to buy them!!!) and i didn't have time to try them on, so i figured what the heck and got a size 8 just to see if they would fit. i got them home and they fit perfectly!!! i've been wearing them all weekend.

Happy Saturday Peeps!

He called! :goodvibes But he needs to call me back because the theater he wanted to go to was closed, blah, blah. But the point is he didn't forget and he said he'll call me back tonight. So it sounds like it is all a go.

If anyone is around and would like to help me pick out something to wear, that would be great! I want to be comfy because we're going to be at the movies, not too hot because its 90-something out there and sweat is not attractive. And of course, really really cute ;)

Jeans, cute top, flip flops?
bermudas, cute top, denim jacket, sandals?
other??

Thanks...

I agree with everyone who said where something you are comfortable in. A favorite outfit is always good. bermudas, cute top, jacket, sandals or flips sounds good. I know our movie theaters are chilly here. Not sure about yours. Be comfy, be relaxed, and HAVE FUN!!!! :) Can't wait to hear all about it!

Shannon, how exciting!! Let us know how it goes.

DH and I spent all day mattress hunting. I think I laid on about 100 mattresses and listened two about 20 sales pitches today. I am so confused. I want to invest in a good mattress - medium-firm. One that will help with my back problems. Any suggestions.

DH and I bought a Stearnes & Foster Oasis mattress a few months ago. It is a latex mattress - no springs like the Tempurpedic, but it has hollow cylinders, so it 'breathes' more. And it has a pillow top. I tell you, it is like sleeping on a could! :cloud9: Heavenly!!! I just asked DH what the name of it was because I forgot, and he said "Heaven". :rotfl: I highly recommend it! (And I love that it has palm trees on it even though I never see them. I am such a dork! :lmao: )

I do a lot of shopping at Old Navy and New York & Co. I also just saw the other day that Maurice's has a new 16-24 section! I need to go check them out because I need come dressy capris for the wedding I have coming up in two weeks. I also love Ann Taylor Loft for dress clothes. I just don't want to go spending money in there until I get down to the size I want to be.

By my calculations... Wonders/Shannon should be on her date right now!

yes, we have a loft near the mall i frequent, but i'm too scared to go in there...i'm afraid i'll spend too much money. i remember when i was shopping for a dress for my sister's college graduation i went into the regular anne taylor because they had some really cute dresses in the window. then i looked at the price......:scared1: i'm sorry....even if i was a millionaire i don't think i could spend that much money on one article of clothing! i know that loft is discounted stuff, but i also know i'm very bad about purchasing too much when it's on sale......i inherited that "but it's on sale so it's okay" mindset from my dad!

thanks for the woooo hooty! these last few pounds are driving me crazy. i was shedding the weight a lot quicker when i first started. now it's s-l-o-w-i-n-g down big time!!! i do have to share that i went into old navy outlet the other day because i love their tank tops to work out in and i needed some more.....anyway, while i was there i got a pair of khaki shorts because they were on sale for $12.99 (see what i mean??? they're on sale and i had to buy them!!!) and i didn't have time to try them on, so i figured what the heck and got a size 8 just to see if they would fit. i got them home and they fit perfectly!!! i've been wearing them all weekend.

I'm so there with you on the "it's on sale" thing! And WOOOOO HOOOOTY on the 8s! :yay:

I don't think I'm familiar with Maurice's... I'll have to see if they are in the area. Honestly, when I've been in the mall and such lately, I've been too chicken to go in and find out the size ranges that stores carry (flash backs to when I was bigger and was very bluntly told "we don't carry anything your size")

i have the SAME problem! i swear to you that the bottom half of my body does not match the top half. it's like god decided to mesh two completely different people together. every single pair of pants/shorts i have always hang off my back where my waist is and cling to my hips....so annoying! not everyone is shaped like a boy!!! i've found that drawstrings help. my favorite pair of denim shorts has a drawstring at the top so i can pull the waist a little tighter than normal and the back of my pants doesn't provide a peep show for whoever is sitting behind me.

by the way, i came upon this really cool TR last night. this guy is doing his TR completely on video. and he's really talented. watch for the part where they're at the beach (they went to tampa the first day before they headed to disney) and there are some girls dancing and blocking their view of the sunset...he added the music "baby got back" to it and it just makes it hilarious! anyway, check it out.....he posts the links to all the installments in the first post, so it's easy to view.

I am glad to see that there are others with my body type. I hate shopping for pants and shorts---I like the "Gap" store, but not on my back end. I buy St. Johns Bay Jeans and they tend to fit better than any other pair I have bought--they don;t seem to gap as much. I get those at JC Penny, but the only problem is they don't always have the latest style jeans. I really don;t care.
