drive by post - Happy Easter...

and SHAlOM we celebrated Seder last night... so strange from 7 of us to just 3!!

Bragging, ds 18 gf got a "wait list" for Stanford" she is a hard worker - and Jewish, reminds us how hard it is to live here with chocolate bunnies, and the "poor Jewish kids" get nothing... ( a little harsh, but she's now 17)

DS 21, fdil may decide to marry in Catholic church, but since we are " not Catholic" its a "mixed marriage" (we're Lutheran!) he needs a "special dispensation"...

no wonder dd is so confused - - we're watching 10 Commandments, ds 18, a few years ago, its what he wanted for his bday present. . the movie ten commandments!

ah well... trying to make sure dd understand that the Easter Bunny to us, is just an American symbol, no toys, just chocolate!! no movies, no presents, just a basket you search for one day a week, and you cant invite your Jewish neighbors over to "brag"/show where the Easter bunny hid eggs in YOUR house, but not theirs...

and on another message board a Jewish poster wanted to know, if Jesus was Jewish, his parents were Jewish, his Disciples were Jewish... he followed Jewish Law (seder/Passover) how come Christians just acknowledge the Ten Commandments, not all 613? THERE WERE 613 commandments??? Thank God for Jesus, I break enough as is!!

May God be with us, and give us Peace....

HAPPY RESURRECTION SUNDAY, EVERYONE! :sunny:

"You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen!" (Mark 16:6)
Hope that DH and I do not gt it.
Oh, Heather! I hope you do not get it either and hope your babies are all better today.

That was one of my FAVORITE movies growing up! I loved it! And I loved Charlton Heston. I watched all the Planet of the Apes movies too.

We are the same here. No gifts...just little eggs full of chocolate hidden all over the house when you wake up.

Yes! The old Jewish covenant brought down by Moses covered everything from cooking, property, and servants to Auntie Flo! "Moses then took the blood, sprinkled it on the people and said, "This is the blood of the covenant that the LORD has made with you in accordance with all these words." (Exodus 24:8) Thank goodness for Jesus... "In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you." (Luke 22:20) Gotta love Bible Gateway!

I think there's a Sunday School lesson in here somewhere.

HAPPY EASTER, EVERYONE!!! :wave2:

We're still "church searching" but I think we found one we like ok. We loved our last church in TX, but God has one picked out here for us! It's a massive church though, which I don't usually gravitate towards, but the assistant is an excellent speaker. WE'll probably give it another few weels.

I know that today will be very hectic at church! The traffic coming into MB on Friday was kind of thick. Forget going to lunch afterward, but we'll probably do that anyway!

Hope you all have a blessed Easter and that noone gets sick!

Hi everyone!!

We went to sunrise service at 7:00 am this morning. It is usually outside but it was 29 this morning.:scared1: Later we have lunch at my moms and an Easter egg hunt for the kids. Then dinner at inlaws and another hunt.I will be surrounded by candy all day,my weakness.:sad2:

HAPPY EASTER EVERONE!!

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!!!!

hope everyone has a great easter! we're going to DH's mom's this afternoon for easter dinner - they eat at the weirdest times - 3:00!!! that throws my entire eating schedule off! the good news is that his nephew won't have lots of easter candy to munch on. he'll be 11 in may and he's already really, really heavy, so they decided no easter candy this year. his mom is trying to get him to do more active things than play video games or watch tv. he's taken an interest in tennis, so that's good. what kills him are his eating habits b/c his mom isn't doing anything about those (except for the easter candy thing, which i don't get because they eat nothing but crap anyway!). i kid you not....they'll come over to our house and we'll fix a nice dinner. then two hours later they'll eat a pizza. then some popcorn. then they usually raid our pantry to see what kind of snacky foods we have and those are gone within a matter of minutes. they go through two 2-liters of coke while they're here for one night! :scared1: anyway, didn't mean to ramble - just to say that i will not be forced to stare at easter candy this year and not eat any!!!

Hoppy Easter Peeps!

NO peeps in my house, gladly. Marshmallow ones are icky....Skinny Minnie ones would be GREAT!

My kids got Veggie Tails videos and Poke mon cards (they are "back in style here") and a crapload of chocholate. SOMEHOW I have to segway into the resurrection of Christ. The symbols of Easter are for newness and spring.

LexMelinda! It was good to hear your voice!!!! You are SOOOOO cute! :hug:I cant wait to talk to you again! Love the Easter graphic you posted. That is the focus of the day, not jelly beans.

Punkin- ALL my nieces and nephews are obese. There's one little 4 year old who is a normal healthy weight. My teen aged nieces are well over 200 pounds and my nephews who are elementary aged are all "Husky". (very)

When we go camping, they all sit around and eat. THAT is their camping activity, while my kids are hiking and playing! So I totally understand your frustration.

Good Luck finding a great church for your family!

I dont know what I'd do without the church-ladies in my church!

Hi Beka!!!! You skinny girl, you!

it's definitely frustrating b/c he's not my kid and therefore i have to keep my opinions to myself, especially since they're my in-laws! but he's such a sweet kid and i wish his mother would do something about his weight before he's in junior high and high school and is miserable b/c other kids are making fun of him. i know how mean kids can be and i just want to cry when i think of people making fun of him. :sad2: oh, well.....i can't control everything! my DH has tried to talk to her in subtle ways and it's not done any good. i'm hoping his interest in tennis will make some of that weight come off. it's just the pizza at 10:00 pm that's killing the kid!

WELCOME BEKA :cloud9: Glad you made it here!

I've been church searching, my favorite search was after 2 - 3 months of "visiting" different churches, we were driving down a road, I saw a Lutheran church and literally, my hands started to turn in - we went in, stunned the Pastor, joined that church and never looked back, talk about huge blessings!!

I went to a mega church near here, so many of my friends go there and love it, and encouraged me to go... so I took dd - for SS I sat in the hall listening to what they were teaching... which freaked out the SS superintendent! (dont you trust us? Um what does trust have to do with it? Do you have something to hide?) Then listening to the church speaker... I sat staring thinking "you've got to be kidding!" Went to school the next day, and the secretarries were all abuzz, "DIDnt you LOVE that?" "OK< I'll bite, what did you HEAR when he spoke?" They told me... I sat back and really laughed, and told them what I heard... (he had been in an accident, but he was talking about his black escalade SUV, his Colorado summer home, etc.. so I heard him brag of his possesions, etc)

It was a huge reminder to me, that God has a place for all of us, and if we follow Him, we will be blessed!!

As much as I want to lose weight, I know I'm not doing anything to produce results, short of posting here. I want so bad to crawl under a hideyhole and give up... but God led me here, and I cant give up, I cant quit.

So thank you Peeps... indeed, may this Easter sunday we lift up our voices to the new covenant He has given us, may we nourish our souls on His love, His gift - and may we be fulfilled!! May the water we drink today, remind us of our bodies, our Temples that we not fill our Temples with junk, but nourish the Temple with love, and good food!!

:grouphug: So shall it be said, so shall it be written.... so shall it be Done!

Happy Easter everyone!

I'm doing a little catching up from yesterday. DH and I had to go do grocery shopping last night because we are having FIL and SMIL and my DM over for Easter dinner (and to celebrate Jasper's birthday a little  ).

In the cirrrrcle, the circlllllllle of liiiiiiiiiiife. Circle of life! (I always tear up on that part of Festival of the Lion King):upsidedow

:rotfl: I was thinking that when I typed "We are all connected!" I can picture the guy saying it now! it!

yep Punkin, I gotta say I am a solid 14 - sometimes 16 depending on who makes the pants. and it aint a pretty sight, sause I gots lots of cellulite, I need those "in style" long shorts, but unfortunately they only make those in like dress shorts! So I believe I will either stick to my pants, or wear my hubbys shorts...(they at least come to my knees) sides, the booty shorts sure do show alot when you raise your legs for crunches or for side kicks in kickboxing! :lmao:

dene - have you washed your hands yet? :rotfl: I'm so happy for you,,,I'da stuttered and said something really stooopid

Try Old Navy's website! They have a lot of different shorts this year - at lots of different lengths. And they have cargo bermudas! Actually the shorts I tried on that fit better than last year are 5 in. inseam, and they hit me about mid thigh. I need to actually go to the store to try on those cargo bermudas though. They looked cute!

I agree with everyone else...I hate going shopping for shorts b/c either they are granny waist high (2in. over my belly button which drives me nuts!!) or 1in. from an area I would rather not show!! :scared1: I can't find anything in between. I have better luck with capris but I hate wearing those ED in Disney. Tough being a girl. ;)

See my above response! ;)

I love Shag! My friends and I watched it together at a sleepover a week before everyone went away to college. (Well, everyone but me since I went to a local college). I think we may have even watched it twice that night.

I get mine at Super Walmart. I think I have seen them at Super Target too.

It's a great movie, isn't it? :goodvibes

I just got me some Morningstar corn dogs last night at Super WalMart! ;)

Update on my Grandma: she was doing a bit better today. I will spare you the medical details. I think having so much family in to visit really perks her up.

Good to hear!

That is one of my mom's favorite salad ever! I usually steal a quesadilla though. My fave is the buffalo chicken salad which I have not had in forever!

LOVE THAT MOVIE! In college, my girlfriends and I would watch it just about every weekend. We'd always have to pick a character and sometimes we would make a drinking game out of it :rolleyes1

But we really did love the movie. Pudge was my favorite too! Fat, my butt, I'd love to be her size right now. Note to self - find SHAG and watch it asap.

I LOVE that salad! It's my fave too. Someday I will learn what the calories are on those quesadillas & if they are included in the calorie amount on calorie king. Then I can more accurately record the calories. I really think they are included, which means I should be subtracting whatever they are worth from the total before I split it.

My friends and I always identified with certain characters in the movie. My one friend was like Bridget Fonda's character, in that she was hmmmm, searching for a word...a little more eager. :rolleyes1 Not that she actually did anything, if ya know what I mean. ;) Then, there was my other friend, who was like the practical one, but not quite that extreme, of course. And I was more like pudge. I was into dance and never had a boyfriend in high school.

OK...I have been MIA for a few days. I am still around and I did lose this week but I will save it to post next friday I think, since it is sunday already! Besides I may gain some this week with easter. I have hard time sayingno to yummy food and I made the dessert (a cake) with homemade buttercream frosting. I may have had a few too many samples along the way.:scared:

I am making an attempt to read backwards, and all I saw was a quote about SHAG and I had to post immediately. I absolutely LOVE that movie. I am pretty sure I have it memorized. In fact, did you know there are 2 versions out there? One has some different songs and a few other things that are different. I went as far as to learn how to Shag on a trip to Myrtle Beach on a spring break many moons ago. I was definitely "Pudge". I really identified with her the most.

Ok, now that I posted that I can concentrate and go back and read.

Thanks Lynda - I guess I am so frustrated cause I can find the longer shorts for casual wear, but workout shorts are daisy dukes on me and I cant find any decent workout shorts! I like the thin material that wicks moisture (cause I really sweat alot) and cotton stretches so bad and takes for-ever to dry...but I have a gift card to old navy - so I'll try it, I usually only buy shirts there, cause I have a fairly small waist, compared to my fairly large booty(getto booty I've been told) and old navy usually caters their clothes to those less curvaceous than I...or either I am above ordinary on the curves:rotfl:

ATTENTION PEEPS!!!! Look at my new siggie!!! YAY!!!!:cool1:

OK, lets see if I can remember what I wanted to say about these quotes now...

Yeah, they're in the process of tearing the Pavillion down now, and moving some of the smaller rides to Broadway at the Beach. I guess the new Hard Rock park will take over the rides. Someone said that the HR park is suppose to be "Disney-esque" !!! How could you ever compare?!
OMG! No Pavillion? That is going to look so strange I think. It has been there forever. :sad2:

I just did the best thing for my diet. I went clothes shopping, yep still fat, yep nothing still fits right, nor looks good, so I bought some workout pants, having trouble with the low rise style showing to much crack, and whats the deal with the fraking short shorts for women...in a XL no less...low rise booty shorts DO NOT look good on my XL booty,:scared: & why oh why can I not find a tshirt long enough to cover my derriere, or at least on that wont ride up and let my belly hang out when I do the cling and press ...gross:scared1:

So I got new workout pants and some sassy sandals, altho I dont know why casue its never gonna be warm enuff to wear them!
That bolded part had me cracking up! My sister and I say that exact thing when we go shopping and somethig doesnt fit. We come out of the dressing room and say Yep, still fat!:rotfl:
On a serious note, I got some exercise shorts at target that were a bit longer. I think they were champion? Not sure, but they were better than most. I also got some exercise capris there, they were cheap and arent too bad to work out in. I hate the low rise stuff and my shirts always shrink so they are too short and my belly hangs out. I hate when I actually go to the Y and do the pilates class, and I spend the whole time adjusting my pants and shirt to minimize the fat exposure:rolleyes:

YES!!!! It's the MOST fun! I love that! I have to watch that movie now! Wonder when I can fit that in. She was my favorite too! Pudge was what they called her, and she was played by Annabeth Gish, but I don't remember her real name in the movie now!
Her name was Caroline in the movie.

By the way, you have as much snow on the ground in that picture of your house in Texas as we have here in mid-Michigan :rolleyes1

Mind you, we don't get anything like they get in the Upper Peninsula, but it has been horribly cold and windy the last few days.

Update on my Grandma: she was doing a bit better today. I will spare you the medical details. I think having so much family in to visit really perks her up.

Glad grandma is doing better! 100 yrs old is amazing!
As for snow, we got some flurries here in N. TX but not any accumulation like Dene got in FW. I may or may not have watched The Grinch yesterday because I was feeling a bit Christmassy instead of Eastery.

Welcome to the newbies too :cheer2: I guess I forgot those quotes. Oh well...off to finish frosting my cake.

I haven't belonged to a church since I was 8 yo!! My best friend and I started to going to this real nice Luthran church. Very small (what I like) and not filled with a lot of guilt or rules that you find at other churches. Then my best friend stopped going. So I haven't been since T-giving. I really want to go again but it sucks to go alone. DF is a non-practicing Catholic with no interest in church whatsoever. Which is fine by me. I think he may come around when we have kids. So anyway, I just have to make myself go..even though I'd be alone. :goodvibes

Shag? I've never heard of it. I MUST rent it!

Shorts are hard. Either Grandma shorts up to your ribcage or slutty shorts. Once in a while, I've had luck buying guys shorts. Also in Utah, dressing modestly is expected so there's tons of stores that cater to that. I can send you a link if anyone wants it.

Modest is the Hottest!

:grouphug: So shall it be said, so shall it be written.... so shall it be Done!

We are church homeless right now. I am becoming disillussioned with the minister/pastors and the whole financial aspect of it. I was raised Methodist. Our church was tiny and from the 1700's. I loved the place and the people.Unfortunatel as older folks passed on not enough new folks joined. Then the treasurer stole from the church and long story short it was sold to make condos. We went to a new church where a lot of former membrs went and there were so many hippocrites. I knew of several people having affairs including a fellow choir member and the pastor. I just felt it wasnt right so we left. We hopped around and I finally felt we found a church where we were at home. It is a Congregational. The minister is from the South and was a little more conservative than the old pne but I still enjoyed his preaching and the kids seemed to be learning in Sunday school and liked youth group. Then things began to change. We became part of a large cluster which is much more conservative and much more cultish. The Sunday school teacher began teaching my kids things I dont believe or agree with. For example thier relatvies who dont come and are not born again will burn for eternity in damnation.Nice. Way to scare the kids. Telling them they will go to h-e-double toothpicks if they watch certain tv shows etc. Bad stuff. I met my husband and began spending time away because he was from another state.Consequently I missed severel of weeks at church.I didnt know about the upcoming vote for pastor and youth pastors to get a raise and the pastor to buy the parsonage at lower than assessed value from church. I was contacted by deacons and told I had to resign my memebership to temporary associate status because they feared people who dont attend regulary could vote against them on these two issues. I was so mad about the way thus was handled that I have not been back in two years. I feel that if someone would "fix" a vote they are evil and liars and I will not have liars teaching my kids the word of God. So, for now we dont go to church because I am having trust issues. I still pray daily and still believe. I hope you all have a blessed Easter (or whatever you celebrate) and stay skinny;)

Happy Easter Peeps! Our easter bunny always comes saturday morning which makes for a nice relaxing easter! Another bonus is my kids aren't on a sugar rush during 3 hours of church. The bunny even brought me an emerald ring!!! That's the first time I've gotten something fromt he easter bunny since I married him!
