Sorry I missed the Friday weigh-in!!! It wouldn't have made a difference to the Peeps Total, because I stayed the SAME! My Oscar night snacking took it's toll, I guess. :sad2:

:rainbow: Happy B-day Melinda!!! :rainbow:

...and everyone else that I've missed! I'm sorry I'm so bad at keeping up over here!!!

Have a great weekend everyone!!! :hippie:

Happy Birthday Melinda!

Hope you have a great day!

I am off to go running all over town as we seem to do every saturday. Wish me luck in resisting the golden arches today. Sat afternoons are hard because we are hardly ever home to eat lunch and I get SO tempted. I am arming myself with snacks so I should be ok though. I hope.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Melinda!

Dawn, you are a hoot!

My daughter is home from grad school in NC this weekend, so I'll be off shopping and eating out at restaurants quite a bit with her this weekend. I'll try to make smart choices, but I'll probably be using all of my WW flex points this week

I just love reading all the posts - and the wonderful experiences we're sharing!!

So I"m flipping channels, and hit the PBS channel... "YOU" on a diet, with Dr Oz... ok I was intrigued... The question which is the best waist whittler? A. Cardio exercises, like running B. crunches C. strength training. D. naked salsa dancing every other Tuesday!! :rotfl:

Come on, what do you think? ABCD??? (I pick A - its the one I hate the most!! :rotfl: )

Then they went through a series of very quick easy strength training!! I LOVED it, it was easy - like squats, and the Plank... (yes the answer was a surprise c, and they shouwed us the exercises - very do able)

Now I go to his website to see if I could share this wonderful info with my PEEPS!!

http://www.realage.com/doctorCenter/intro.aspx

Because the First 14 Days Couldn't Be Easier
WHY YOU ON A DIET WORKS:

1. Measure your waist -- and watch it shrink.
2. Walk 30 minutes a day -- no excuses!
3. Find a buddy -- to help you stick with it.
4. Clean out the fridge -- and refill it with good-for-YOU foods. In just 2 weeks, you'll be solidly on the road to success, and your waist will probably be 2 inches smaller!

and he has a 20 min video!!

Lets get it together - together... BACK ON THE WAGON!!!

Well its official.

DS proposed to his girlfriend, and she accepted!!

The weather was horrible, but she drove down with a friend (the friend drove) it took well over 5 hours (usually 2 1/2 hours) the wind was whipping snow across roads...

DS had planned on a romantic walk, a poem and flowers... but the weather was too cold, she said they got a block from the apartment, and said, k that's enough!! :rotfl2: Love practical women!! Then he had her favorite flowers delivered, and he got down on one knee (while she was trying to decipher his writing!!) and he pulled out an engagement ring (she knew he couldnt afford one mind you, but my mom mailed her mother's wedding rings to him.. yes, just mailed!! :sad2: its about a half carot white gold or plat. ring) and he knew it wouldnt fit, but he was too anxious... and I wouldnt let him get it sized w/o her...

It fit!!

:dance3:
So I have 2 years before I have to fit in a (*gulp) mother of the groom dress!! I am so running that 1/2 marathon!!

Night everyone -

. If
I was single...which I am not...was looking...which I have zero interest in...and or part of a mentally handicapped tribe of Zimbabwean women who have not seen a man in 38 years...I still would not go...
"Hey baby...yeah you...the one on the floor...writhing around in everyones shoe waste and grime...yeah you...hillbilly to the stars...wanna neck?"

:rotfl2:
That made me almost spit yogurt all over my screen!! Too funny!:lmao:

Okay so I have just seen the funniest movie ever...it was Wild Hogs with John Travolta and Tim Allen...OMG I laughed from start to finish...very much a GREAT time out!!!

I'm glad it's good, tonight is date night and dh & I are going to see it!

Thanks :thumbsup2 Now Favourite, Honour, colour...... can't think of any more but I'm sure there's loads :rotfl2:

How about vibratour????? Sorry it's all it could think of that sorta rhymed!:rotfl:

And as far as the accents.....LUUUUUUVVVVV those! I was voted most likely to marry a foreigner in High School because I was the goodwill ambassador to the foreign exchange students! Okay, that sounds really bad and no I was not the UN ambassador...just the girl who would show the Swedish/Brazillian hotties around and answer all their questions, as I gazed longily into their mouths as they tried to ask where the boys bathroom was. My boyfriend all through HS was from Canada and he and I would fly back and forth every other month to visit. Ehhhhh....

True Story...I was once proposed to by Simon LeBon from Duran Duran fame. He never got back to me on the whole exact date of the wedding thing though. I always wondered because it may not have been,
"Dawn, your most beautiful creature on this earth, will you be my bride?"

Rather it may have been,

"Dawn, you are the worst stalker I have seen since birth, if you don't leave me alone, I will stab myself in the side."

Not quite sure because they sound the same from 100 yards getting chased by security.

One last note...I am not being prejudice here...just stating a personal preference...but I never dated any exchange students with heavy Asian accents. (Once a hottie whose mom was Phillipino...Dan Samian...if your out there....Heeeeyyyy!) But anyway...the whole Asian accent always sounded like my name was Dong not Dawn and that was such a mood killer and Deal Breaker that I could not get past the introduction.
Maybe if I had been a Sue...it may have sounded like Roo, and I like Winnie the Pooh so ya know....just putting it out there.

Thanks to this post I got a dirty look from dh who is trying to sleep after working all night! We need a "wet myself" smilie! :) There's got to be alot more to the Duran Duran story, do tell! And exactly what kind of "embassador" were you?????

You guys were all on a roll! Between spraying my monitor, wetting myself, and getting dirty looks from dh, I'm a mess!!

:scared: the plank!!! this is the one exercise that's a big huge rotting thorn in my side. i can't do it and it bothers me to no end that i can't do it! i have scoliosis and for some reason my back does NOT like that exercise. i can squat all day long, do lunges all day long, do cardio all day long (okay...not all day, but close!), but when wonder woman mentions the plank i cringe!

awwwwww!!!! congrats!!!! i'm sure you'll make a great mother-in-law! i love my DH's mom, but she's a little crazy sometimes!

and who cares how big the ring was? my DH bought me a very moderately-sized diamond ring when we got engaged. i was only 20 and he was 24, so we didn't have a lot of money at that point. and a couple of years ago he said to me, "i want to get you a bigger diamond now that we can afford it." and i was like, "no way! this is the one you picked out for me and i would never ever want to replace it!" now.....if he wants to buy me a bigger rock for my right hand, that's a different story! :lmao:

Thanks for sharing, and the congrats - DH and I have the same story on my engagement ring... and I decided to go to Disney instead of getting a bigger diamond, but I found a perfect bigger diamond on QVC - the diamonique w. 14 K gold - its perfect, and no one knows... (so dont tell anyone K?) not even my mom!!

Gorgeous dog!! Is she a standard poodle?

Gorgeous dog!! Is she a standard poodle?

Thanks! Yep, she is a standard. Just shy of 50 lbs. I always compare her size to other standards and sometimes she is bigger than them and sometimes she's smaller.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MELINDA!

Congrats Sandy on DS engagement! You will make a wonderful MIL. You have so much wisdom to share. :teacher: Do you like her? I sure hope so.

to eeyore45 - yeah, i have an exercise ball. actually, my trainer friend (a/k/a wonder woman) does a class at my gym that focuses on the ball. it's called total tone and it rocks! :thumbsup2

if you have a ball, try these exercises (if you haven't already).

for legs:

put the ball behind you between yourself and a wall and right against the biggest part of your butt. now lean backwards against the ball and squat. be sure to not put your weight in your toes, but your heels instead. it's fun to do to the rhythm of music and to do slow squats, then speed it up until you can't go anymore. then take it down and hold it for 30 seconds. it's hard, but it's super good for you legs! oh, and be sure to clean your ball before you lean it against light-colored wall paint or it'll stain your wall!

for tummy:

this one's kind of tricky. put the ball under your belly and face the floor. now crawl forward until the ball is under your knees/lower part of your legs so that you're sort of balancing on your hands and facing the floor. now pull your knees toward your chest and then back out straight again and repeat til you can't anymore. it's great for your tummy!

To Winkers and those who care even slightly -

I was at age 13 on totally obsessed with Duran Duran. I mean OBSESSED. I had the Duran Duran board game, 2 billion Teen Beat magazines and buttons, t-shirts, sunglasses, shoes (remember those oxford style lace up shoes??? Had them in gray, black and white) and shoelaces. Seriously over the moon for them. Are you Hungry Like A Wolf? James Bond - View to a Kill soundtrack!! Simon Lebon had a yacht that capsized in 1998 that was called Drum Of England. Nick Rhoades married a girl from Iowa named Julianne whose dad owned Yonkers. B-days got them all.

When I went out of town...I brought posters with to put on the walls. I needed (need) thereapy!

Okay...so in 1997 I had tickets to see them w/ David Bowie and Georgia Sattelite. The bus that transported all the gear for DD and GS ended up in a wreck...all the tour gear was ruined and they had to not attend the Minneapolis concert. So I has stayed in line for 3 days for zero reason. I had drank water and pop with complete strangers...sang Kumbia with stoners all in the hopes of showing my affection. And now...I would see a skinny transvestite from the 2nd row. Up close...enough to see the definition of every middle muscle... and again...not the muscle of my fiance...the muscle of a lipstick drag show queen. (Sorry to Bowie fans...just not my thing)

So after waiting another 10 months and toiling through Power Station and Arcadia (true Duran Duran geeks will understand...Get it on Bang a Gong...get it on...) I found out that Simon, John, Nick and Roger would be playing at an intimate venue known as First Avenue. Capacity only about 1500. My good friend in HS named Justin Fingerhut's dad owned it. (If you are unaware of the historical significance of this place...rent Purple Rain with Prince...met him several times too...very pretty) This said I was in...backstage...front row...DEAD CENTER...Can you hear the Angels sing...GOD BLESS AMERICA...LAND THAT I LOVE...:woohoo:

Okay...gotta go get a girl to the ER...Mama Bear Jo's daughter Hanna just called sobbing that she smashed her hand between 2 snowmobiles. Story will be continued.

But a small tease....Simon was wearing a white linen button down shirt...he had no chest hair and my face felt like it was home as I might have accidently knocked him against a couch...perhaps falling into his lap...wearing a 80's miniskirt that was possibly very short.
