Thanks for the articles Melinda! My mom uses it too and I couldn't remember why. I need to find a vitamin to take- I should be on prenatals but the iron makes me:sick: I'll look into that.

Thanks for the song list Monica. I have not met the challenge but the day isn't over yet.

I need a good kick in the seat of the pants. I got a package today from my mom containing bigger clothes and homemade cookies. Now the clothes are to help me not have to buy anything while I get back into my clothes and the cookies were for my dear children but, of course, in the mid afternoon craziness I *may* have eaten an undisclosed amount.

I did check in with UtahMama- she is still 'puterless but doing great on her own spin of SB. Her holiday weight is melting off. Yay Utah.

Hi HockeyKat. I don't know if we have met, you seem familiar but it may be from me lurking here now and again while pregnant. Yay for you for posting your resolutions. They sound great. :yay:

pigget74 Unlike you I don't like the cold weather. It's so windy here today. I have a Graco Duo. It's front and back not side to side. I liked it. I say liked because my other kids are too old to sit in it anymore. But I will warn you it's a little on the heavy side lifting in a SUV hatch other than that I loved it. Nice storage underneath. I'm sorry to say I buy water too. I have a well and it has so much iron in it. Even though we treat it, it still tastes yucky. But I do use it for cooking or if I make Crystal Light I use not just plain though, it's yucky.

Sandy321 Feel better. Have a nice cup of tea with honey, that's what I do when I don't feel good.

Pakey The first day back to school was heck getting them out of the house but good after that. I love my boys dearly but you know.

harleygirl Happy New Year to you too.

monymony3471 I think I'm liking the bologna and ketchup thing. Sounds gross but I think it would grow on me. :rotfl: Nice dancin' today. I did not dance but I did walk 45 minutes on the treadmill at the gym today, does that count?

MA pigletfan Yeah for you for making through day one of 2008 and hopefully day 2 is a success also. I love cream of wheat but of course I love butter and sugar in mine, not good for peeps. What do you put in yours? I love the crockpot but I only make ribs in them. I have a cookbook my mom gave me I could look for ya. :cheer2: Hear is me chearing for the Curves Biggest Loser contest for you.

Ok now it's my turn to tell you about my day. I got the kids off to school, walked on the treadmill for 45 minutes, burned 330 calories (it tells me) I was so excited. I came home and I decided to do that 3 day diet so I ate my piece of toast with peanut butter and my 1/2 grapefruit. Well between the baby and trying to eat it was almost lunch time and I decided to eat lunch about an hour after I finished breakfast, I know that's bad but I will tell you why. I knit at church on Wednesdays at 12 and normally I get fastfood but I didn't want to so I ate early. Anyway, I was fine until about 2ish. DD2 had some goldfish so I ate three, drank some water in the car on the way to get DS8 and DS6 from school. While we were waiting from them in the car I glanced down and saw dark chocolate covered raisins, yup I ate about 2 handfuls. Bad peep I am. I then get home and had some cheese, three slices of cheddar (deli) and then I just a fiber bar. I am so hungry I could eat my tongue. I think tomorrow I will do the three day diet again though. I shouldn't of ate so close together breakfast and lunch. I think that was my problem. Anyway gotta go to homework, then cook dinner.

Laura:flower3:

WENDY I see your light is on!!

Laura thanks for the tea! and you're a knitter?? I'm trying to figure out how to knit a prayer shawl for church, I am not purl ing right - I leave holes - I "knit" but the knit than purl, then knit... but its not working... Our church group doesnt get together again till next month.. (I missed last month, I'll miss this month... )

Hi PEEPS!

My computer is fried...longish story on Moo's thread...so I'm on Jordan's laptop. Trying to adapt to the touchpad mouse and the sticky "O"!

I've been a mess without the Disboards, as you may relate. But I used my time wisely and organized and got rid of tons of clothes. The skinny clothes I was clinging to are out of style, so what better reward for going down to a goal size than to get a new skinny wardrobe????! I need something to motivate myself.

My version of SB/Atkins includes baby carrots and leaner meat choices, and guess what? My "fat" jeans are WAYYYYY too big after only a week or so! My normal jeans fit again, so we are in business.

I missed this thread! Funny how accountable I feel checking in every day, now that I'm recommitted, that is.

Hope everyone is happy and healthy this beautiful day! It's like 9 degrees in Salt Lake today. YOINKS!

HAPPY NEW YEARS PEEPS!!!!!

Twinkie, its so nice to have you here again! STAY out of thse cookies!!!

Now, I need to read back. I was so excited to say HI that I did it backwards.

Dawn You are so beautiful and in shape and you have a husband who cooks for you. Seriously, I think it may be hard to keep liking you. :rotfl:

i'm just a very lucky girl when it comes to the hubby. and i'll take cute, but not beautiful....that's just too much! please don't stop liking me!

hi Peeps...

just poppin gin to wish everyone a Happy New Year!

HI, HARLEY!!!!!!! we miss you. tell amy hello!

I do not like bologna and ketchup. Tim does and that's why he makes them and practically has them for lunch daily. If I don't make enough of what I'm eating for him, he just makes 2 of them and he's good.

I like much weirder things that that!

Today at 9:30am til 10:00am the kids and I danced like crazy fools.

We did the Monkey with the Wiggles
We Mickey Mouse Club Housed
We swam Under the Sea
We Hakuma Atadaed-I am not looking that up
We jammed to Shreks I'm a Believer (air guitar too)
We D-O-R-O-T-H-Y-ed
and a bunch more.

I met the challenge did you?

that's so funny about the ketchup and bologna. does he end up with pink bread?

and i LOVE the dancing with the kids thing! i wish my workout was that much fun. i did a boot camp class this morning at 9:30 so i was right there with as far as working out at least. i went up on my leg weight and i'm now doing the most weight in class. HE-WOMAN!!!!! :rotfl: just kidding. it really doesn't matter how much weight you do as long as you do it right. my legs are just the strongest part of my body. my chest and triceps are soooooo weak!

I went to Curves today and actually officially signed up for our Biggest Loser Challenge!! It starts Monday and goes 6 weeks..basically you have to pay 15 dollars to join, and make sure you work out at least 3 times a week and weigh in once ( mondays)...if you miss a work out, you pay a dollar, if you miss your weekly weigh in..you pay 5!! All the money goes into a pot where at the end of the 6 weeks the top 3 "losers" get their share..first place gets 50%, 2nd 30 % and 3rd place 20%..pretty cool!! I hope i do well..i know i won't have a problem making the workouts/weigh ins..but i just hope the numbers are good!! :thumbsup2 I will be sure to keep you Peeps in the know of my progress...i think i will use the monday losses ( they better all be losses!!) as my peep # for friday's..less confusing i think!

good luck on the challenge! sounds like a good motivator!!!

laura - don't get too down about slipping a little. a handful of chocolate covered raisins isn't that bad! you're not the only one....ray wanted italian for dinner so we went to johnny's new york style pizza. i had soup and salad, but i did sneak a couple of garlic knots that ray always gets as an appetizer. they're SO BAD. bread soaked in butter and olive oil, parmesean cheese and roasted garlic. i looked it up and 2 of them is 120 calories, so i just added that to my tally for the day. i'm right at 1200 so i have enough for a snack!

ETA: wendy - here's hoping your computer problems are fixed soon. CONGRATS on the loss!!!! and try to stay warm up there! it's 17 degrees here tomorrow and i'm DREADING it! i'm such a wuss when it comes to cold weather.

Hey, peeps!! :wave2:

Five days on Atkins and going strong! I am feeling good! How are you guys doing?

I just wanna say what a NICE group this is! Thank you for making me feel welcome and for actually CONTINUING to talk to me after you welcomed me! :rotfl: You guys rock!:flower3:

Bonnie Loved the cartoon.* I'm 5'8" so I'm not sure I want to get much taller.* Of course, if I cut off this Don King hair, I'd probably lose 2 lbs..
I'm 5'11"....talk chicks rule! :cool1:
hi Peeps...just poppin gin to wish everyone a Happy New Year!
Hi Harley!* Happy new year to you too!
I do not like bologna and ketchup.*
Ewwww!!

Girl, that sounds sooooo gross. It's official. You people ain't normal. :sad2:

:rotfl2:

How many of you wore a pin when you were a teen that said, "Why be normal?"

I did!

Toot I am 5'11ish too.

Not quit 6 foot, but close enough.

And for the record my daughter loves bologna and ketchup too. Just not me!

Dawn: You resemble an old friend of mine. I'll need to dig up a picture.

Wendy: great job on the success!

Laura: Try to keep us in mind when you are tempted. Works for me.

Twinkie: You got about 2 hours left.

The challenge was to dance!

Good afternoon. I think it's 55 here and I'm freezing. But I did go out and walk for 1.25 miles with my assistant. Then she went home and I went out into the warehouse (production facilities are still closed for the holidays) and climbed 225 stairs. My thighs were a flaming after that and my heart rate got going too. I did this in case I get home and don't feel motivated to get on the treadmill. I've also been good all day, just had my lean cuisine for lunch and my apple for breakfast. It helped that I was too busy here at work today to worry about it much. Tonight will be the test. I don't have any kids to dance with and the dogs would just look at me like I was nuts.

Wendy congrats on the jean downsizing. I'm hoping that my new skinny jeans will still fit on the 13th when we fly out. I'm too scared to try them on right now because if they don't fit, I'll be so depressed. I'm hoping the fear will keep me in line for the next 10 days.

Dawn, those garlic stick things sound delicious. But then again, I'm hungry enough to have a bologna and ketchup sandwich right now. Thank goodness dinner is in 50 minutes.

WENDY I see your light is on!!

Sandy - you can just knit a prayer shawl, in just knit stitches. Just cast on around 30-50 stitches (enough to make it about 20 inches wide) with whatever yarn you are using. The just knit every row. Works for me.

Hi PEEPS!

My computer is fried...longish story on Moo's thread...so I'm on Jordan's laptop. Trying to adapt to the touchpad mouse and the sticky "O"!

Now, I need to read back. I was so excited to say HI that I did it backwards.

Yeah on the fat jeans being way too big.

Gina - I looked up in my cookbook for slow cookers. Here's what they have in here for low fat reciepes. Let me know which ones you want.

Parsnip and carrot soup :scared1:
Chicken and fresh vegetable noodle soup
Spiced lentil soup Chicken breasts with wild mushrooms
Cajun chicken and shrimp creole
Herbed artichoke chicken
Halibut with tomato tapenade
Mediterranean turkey and tomato rice bake
Herb-sprinkled scalloped potatoes
Summer's bounty chicken and fresh vegetables
Crab and spinach lasagne
Tri-pepper Southwestern penne
Chicken pot au feu
Cool chichen curry salad
Braised winter squash
Lamb with balsamic-glazed vegetables
Citrus beef stew
Bean and corn chili
Black bean stuffed peppers
chicken and sweet potatoe stew
Chinese hot pot
Tuscan vegetable torte
Tomato and basil ziti with roasted vegetables
Asian lettuce wraps

Now some of them have a lot of fat grams per serving (15 was the most I saw) but then some of them have 1 gram of fat per serving.

HTH

Laura:flower3:

Also Sandy. I think you might be forgetting to put your yarn in the front of your work when purling. That might be why you are getting the holes. Try that first.

Laura :goodvibes

Thank You! You totally made me LOL at your flaming thighs comment!

Is yelling at your kids excercise? I'm attepting to get my boys to clean up a massive LEGOs mess downstairs in our freezing cold unfinished basement. OY! I did start out asking very nicely. It of course progressed to pissy, and ragey within 5 minutes. Now, I'm bribing them with Pokemon cards if they clean up their mess without fighting or tattling. "MoOoM, Riley's not help-inggg"

Monica- my weird food I like is ketchup on macaroni and cheese. At least I used to. Haven't had it in a while. It's super good, I tell you. BUT alas, it is a carb. Carbs are not on Phase I/Induction (whatever I'm on). I do eat a little carbs, 20-25 grams. But I'm feeling really good and not at all physically hungry. HEAD HUNGER is a whole nuther story.

Heyyy, Toot and Monica! You are both Tall! I'm 5'9 barefooted and so is Lynda, I think. (HI LYNDA!!!!)

Aaron and Dawn- WOW! You both look great! I see it in both of your faces and in Punkie, the clavicals (Yay, Clavicals!). I am so inspired by each of you!!!!!! Thank you!

Sandy-are you feeling better? Hope you do soon! Load up on some airborn (?) or similar product.

Hi everyone! Remember me??:rolleyes1 Working two jobs, four kids,Holiday...well there are my excuses.Haven't been on the Dis in a while but I am back.I came by here before diving into my trip reports(I get sucked in) because I weighed this morning and I am back to my rightafterbaby weight.:sad1: I knew my clothes didn't fit but reality sucks.I haven't read back but I will skim some and jump in.I started weight watchers today but am trying to eat less carbs too.So the challenge is to dance today? Is there a certain amount of time?

Can someone remind me when weigh in is?

hey, guys. i don't normally ask for much pixie dust/prayers/thoughts, but i decided to in this case. my little brother got asked to play drums for a band in nashville and the show is tonight. my dad says he's really nervous, even though on the phone he sounded fine. he's good at hiding it! anyway, this is his first "big" show (as in people are paying admission to see him) and i'm really hoping it goes well. the band he's playing with consists of two guys (a piano player and guitarist, i think) so they needed a drummer for their live shows. he really needs a boost in his confidence, so i hope it goes well and they ask him to play more shows. it would be his dream come true!!!

here's the band's myspace page in case you're curious: http://www.myspace.com/loversball

YAY FOR CLAVICLES!!!!!!! although i don't want to lose so much weight that my clavicles look like they'll cut you if you put your hand on my shoulder. :scared: i had a friend in high school that had those kind....ewwww!!!!

I met the challenge! 20 minutes of aerobic fat burning dancing:banana:

Oddly enough the following songs add up to exactly 20 minutes:
Down Under by Men at Work
Sweet Dreams by the Eurythmics
Hungry like the Wolf by Duran Duran
Mexican Radio by Wall of Voodoo
Shake It Up by The Cars

and then I did 5 minutes of crunches, leg lifts etc to She Blinded Me by Science by Thomas Dolby

My kids "helped"... especially the little gymnasts who told me my crunches were not "real sit ups"

I am hungry! I am not even limiting my calories yet just trying to not eat sweets or binge eat. It is a long hard road but I will not give up.

Pixie dust to your brother Punkin! How did your Dad and stepmom like the pictures you guys had done for Christmas. You may have already said but I've missed alot!

I feel short today. I am 5'8". I have always been the tallest girl in my family. Now my DD(16) is 5'10" and just discovered that DD(14) is even with me! Then I come on here and discover that I'm short here too! 5"8" used to be tall!

Asking for some prayers and Pixie Dust for my cousin. She is 1 year younger than me (44) and just found out she has cancer of the colon and the liver. She has a very long road ahead of her. She says she refuses to die from this, because she simply cannot. She has five kids. The oldest is 14. I'd really appreciate your prayers on this one.

Pakey, any words of wisdom you have on this would be most welcome. We found out just before Christmas, and this is the first time I've even written about it because it's too hard to even think about. But I guess writing about it is good, because I'm having my first good cry about it now, and I guess I need to do that. What can I do to help her through this. Of course, I'll let her know that I'll do absolutely anything, but she probable won't ask. She has 5 siblings, all living close by, so she's set on babysitting, meals etc. I've already told her Mom (my godmother) that they can call us for anything. Growing up my cousin lived on the bottom of the hill and my family lived on the top of the hill, probable about 1/8 mile apart. We always got matching Chrsitmas presents. I particularly remember our tutus. Mine was blue and hers was purple. We picked them out together from the JC Penney catalogue for Christmas one year.

Welcome back Stranger! Did ya' survive the Christmas season? I still have a Kohl's gift card burning a hole in my purse.

Weigh in day is Friday. Although, I'm not weighing until I get back from Disney. Cause any I might have lost will be gained back next week. :rolleyes1

Wendy, glad you are back up and running. And you got some chores done too. :thumbsup2

Dawn - sending some good band vibes to your brother. :rockband: :goodvibes

Yes Wendy...yelling burns calories, therefore it is an excercise! :thumbsup2

I feel really short next to you ladies, as I am only 5'4"! (Use to be 5'5 1/2", but had back problems that robbed me of an inch and a half!:scared1:)

Maybe I shouldn't admit it, but I like bologna & ketchup sandwiches on soft white bread! It's kinda like eating a cold hot dog! :confused3 And Wendy, my SIL only eats mac & cheese with ketchup! :rotfl:

Excellent songs!!! :hippie:

I have been so un-peep-like over the holiday and my weight is showing it. I have officially hit the highest weight I have ever been and I feel like CR@P! I am ready to pull out my South Beach book and start again. In fact...I will! I am lucky enough to be able to come home for lunch, so i think that is what I will do! I need to do this so I feel better.

BTW...I updated my TR and there is some incriminating video included! :scared1:

he loved them! he got a little teary-eyed when he saw the "real" pictures......

but then he cracked up when he saw the 2 funny ones that we got him to put on his fridge.....

thanks! he's the one with the blue hair.

oh, and nevermind on the pixie dust. my sister just called me and said that his part of the show got cancelled. the bass player didn't show and you apparently can't have a drummer without a bass player. so the band just decided to do a set like they normally do.....without either! such a disappointment for him. :sad2: i called him and he was upset, but said that he's practicing with a band he likes better tomorrow night anyway.

Oh, so sorry! I know he has got to be disappointed. Maybe the other band will end up being better. Things have a way of turning out that way.
