I think I was most shocked at how much weight I have lost in my face. I didn't think my face was that chubby at my highest weight until I saw these pictures. Yikes.

AARON!!!! that's so awesome! i can definitely tell in your face but i can tell in your abdomen and arms, too. i'm so impressed! and i'm SO doing this later on today! i don't have any makeup on right now so picture-taking for me!

Hello! Happy New Year! Remember me?

i remember you! i joined in march and i think you were still posting somewhat regularly then? anyway, WELCOME BACK!!!!!! and CONGRATS on the new baby!!!!! :goodvibes

lynda - i love the pic of you and pete. i sent a link of your post to anna because she LOVES fallout boy...she'll be so jealous! ;)

sooooooo......i'm taking aaron's lead and post progressive pics. i said to heck with putting makeup on since i'm not leaving the house today and decided to take some of those ominous bathing suit pictures. anna made me take them last year so i could see my progress and now i'm glad i did. of course i'm not posting the full body shot (no way!), but i cropped the rated-G part and here ya go......

JANUARY 2007 - 162 pounds

hafront15.07.jpg

JULY 2007 - around 140 pounds (i have no idea why this one is so small!)

hafront77.07.jpg

TODAY - 133 pounds

hafront1108.jpg

i can't tell much of a difference between july and today. anyway, this motivates me to do even more this year as far as getting healthy!

I'm in! I've already started to keep track of my WW points (which I got a bit lazy with the past few months), and I'm heading to the spare bedroom in a bit to do Yoga. But first, I wanted a visual of the progress that I've made so far. So I dug up a picture of what I believe is me around my highest weight - 240:

Aaron240.jpg

Then I found one of me on our honeymoon two years ago, when I was about the same weight as I was at the start of this year - 215 lbs.

Aaron215.jpg

(My wife had me cut her out of the first two pictures, so that is why they look a little funny.)

Then I had my wife take one of me this morning at my current weight - ~175 (I didn't actually weigh myself this morning).

Aaron you look great!!! You can really tell in your face.
Hello! Happy New Year! Remember me?

I was a Peep back in the day. I even hit my goal weight for the first time since high school with all the great support here :thumbsup2 Then of course , SURPRISE! I was pregnant (I blame Monica and Pigget ;) and of course my DH).

So here I am at the start of 2008 with a brand new baby (6 wks today! :cloud9: ) and 22.5 lbs over my goal weight. For my other kids the baby weight magically melted off without doing anything and that isn't happening this time. :confused3 Of course I was never at my goal weight when I got pregnant before so maybe that has something to do with it.

I know how fast this thread moves and I don't know if I will be able to keep up BUT I figure I could glean whatever wisdom came my way.

My goal is to lose 12 lbs by Valentine's Day. I am short aka a pixie princess (almost 5 ft 4 in) and I am nursing and very busy with my real life. In reality I don't think I can hit my goal weight while I am nursing but I do not plan to spend the next year in my one remaining pair of "fat" jeans!!

So step one for this week:
Eat what I want as far as real food (ie not junk food or dessert) goes and keep a food journal to help me make better choices.
Somehow add exercise to my life. I am not sure how this is going to work with such a tiny baby and cold weather but I will let you know what I figure out.

Good to see you on the boards again. I so understand how stressful it is with a new one, nursing, and the rest of the family. Nothing stops. How is the wee one? It is amazing how fast the time goes by. My Rebekah is getting so big. I think she is about 11 pounds now. Just starting to fit fine in the size 1 swaddlers. Good luck with the challenge.

Aaron and Dawn: Can I get some chestbumps and highfives?! (I'd add booty slapping but you are married and I don't want to cause any trouble):rotfl:

Wow. You guys totally rock and look so awesome! If that's not inspiration I don't know what is. I really needed to see that and think yes that can and will be me. Thank you.

Well I started an online WISH journal. I'm holding nothing back.

Welcome back Twinkie Mamma: No time? We know you sit on your bottom all day eating twinkies. How else did you get that name?

Baby steps. I want to move from the maternity jeans and into the fat jeans!

Lookin' good! Even without seeing the PG-13 version, you can totally see a change in the face, arms/shoulders/upper chest area. Great work! That is one thing that I wish I would have done, is taken a bathing suit picture before and now during; but I'm so darn camera shy even with my clothes on that I don't think that would ever happen. Maybe when I reach my goal weight, but even then I doubt I'd have the guts to post it here. Just more for my own satisfaction.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Lynda..Glad to hear that all is well..Great pic of you and Pete..that's so cool!

Aaron and Dawn: AWESOME progress pics!! I think i may have to do that..i have an extra camera card somewhere so perhaps i will take the pic with that today and store it somewhere super secret squirrel like so no one else gets the misfortune of finding it.lol!! But it sounds like a good way to see results, even if the scale doesn't move as fast as i would like it too.

I hope everyone is having a great day so far..i am going to have some healthy sushi later with my parents..sounds like a good way to start a year to me! :)

It has been about a year (or longer, maybe:sad2:) since I have been here. I don't have any really good excuses except that I was too busy to dis. I lost about 15 pounds when I was posting. I am happy to say that I did not gain any of it back...but I still have about 60 more to go! I am sticking to my WW plan since I know it well and it works for me.

Great before and after pics...you all look great!

I am looking forward to getting to know everyone, again!

Today was supposed to be the start of the new committment and the new year. Today has not gone so well.

First I woke up and looked in the mirror and what did I see.....

I look like Don King

When I lost my hair last year through chemo, I was really hoping that when it came back, it would be straight and not so wirey. No such luck. Well now it's a couple of inches long and totally unmanageable. So when I got out of bed and went to brush my teeth and saw myself in the mirror, it was sticking straight up, about 3 inches of hair.

After the shock wore off and DH quit laughing after I had asked him if he noticed the resemblance to Mr. King, we headed off to see the movie, Juno. Which was great by the way. Best movie I've seen in a year. But what did I do....

I ate Wendy's popcorn that she didn't have the other day.

I've been good the rest of the day, and I did have it unbuttered at least, but I'm going to pretend this day never happened and I'm starting again tomorrow.

And I'm calling my hair stylist to see if there is anything at all that can be done as this wire grows out again. Leaving for WDW in 12 days and would like to take photos of myself for the scrapbook.

Dawn, maybe I could insert you over me in the photos? Heck, I'd be thrilled to take your before pic and insert it.

Pakey..that story of the Don King do' reminds me so much of what one of my friends' moms went through! She was diagnosed with breast cancer about 2 years ago and also lost alot of her hair through chemo as well...As her hair started growing back in it was WILD i guess and my friend said " My mom has crazy Christopher Walken hair now". It used to be pin straight, but grew back curly and straight..very strange. SO please feel better knowing there is someone else with unruly post-chemo hair out there.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!

I'm giving myself one more day to finish that peanut butter pie and then I'm back on board. (That sounded kind of stupid....why do I have to finish that pie?)

Tomorrow is the day!

Who's with me?

Calorie Counting here!

My Formula: 12 calories X Goal Weight in pounds=Daily Calorie intake

What's everybody else doing?

COME OVER AND PLAY TRIVIA!
It's a daily game! Bookmark it! (I was so glad to see Nancy there this morning!)

HAVE A GREAT NEW YEAR'S DAY, EVERYONE!

My plan is to cut back to 1200 calories for this week to get a jump start, then the 12 X goal weight with more emphasis on protein. I am a total carb addict. 1200 cals starts tomorrow, so if I bite anyone's head off this week, please forgive me. We are finishing up leftovers today (no peanut butter pie tho, darn it).

I love the trivia game. DH and I were stuck in an arcade waiting for friends to join us for a party a couple of days ago, and we played a trivia game there. It was a lot of fun too.

Very impressive. You look great. Punkin, you too but I forgot to quote.

Lynda, I am so excited for your DL trip. I know you and DH will have a great time.

Do you have FitTV? I'm going to DVR some of their different shows to try to change things up a bit. When my kids were little, I used to do Denise Austin tapes. Anything you can do at home and hit the pause button worked for me. And of course, my arms always looked fabulous when my kids were small, because I did progressive weight training, Carrying everything from a 7 lb. newborn up to a 50 lb kindergartner.

I am looking forward to getting to know everyone, again!
Daisy, I was just thinking about you yesterday. I was hoping we'd get some more West Coasters, and i wondered what happened to you. Did you end up staying in Boise? I know you talked about a possible move to CA.
Anyways, glad to see you back.

So my deal with myself today as a way of tapering off the binge-fest is, I can eat what I want, but I have to look up the calories and write it down. Tomorrow, the diet starts in earnest. DH and I went in the hot tub today, and i was afraid I was going to split the seams on my bathing suit. DH wouldn't have minded, but I really like that suit! I'm off to drink some water to try to wash away some of the junk in my trunk.

SingingMUA Hi there, glad about the good news about being able to go to work again. I couldn't even log into DIS yesterday at all.

LMO429;22335332] Hello. I joined the peeps only a couple of months ago but my weight has gone up and done all summer. I joined WW last March and have lost 7 lb. It's sickening that it's only 7 lb but I did go up to 18 lb but gained half of it back from the summer. No motivation during the summer. I'm on this year, I have about 150 lb to lost:scared1: but taking it 10 lb at a time.

dwheatl Glad you had a fun time at your party

Disneyfreak92 Glad to see you again. Yeah for you only 9 days then it's DL for you. :cool1:

pigget74 My DH and my mom think it's funny when I talk about my online friends too. I was lost without you guys yesterday, I couldn't get online to DIS yesterday for some reason. :confused3

lexmelinda You have to finish the pie because you can't waste food. Tomorrow is my day too, I'm in. I am doing WW. I'm hoping to lose 10 lb by Valentine's day. My DS8 and DS6 had that burning hole gift card problem too.

Toot Sweet Me and DH went to National Treasure on Sunday, love it. Punkin sorry but I love me some Nicholas Cage.

punkin413 Those pictures were great. I totally see the difference in your face between the last two. Great job girl.

TwinkieMama Welcome back, glad to meet you, I'm Laura. Congrats on the bundle of joy.

daisy_77 Welcome back

Pakey;22355237] Sorry about the Don King thing, tomorrow is a new day.

Aaron Awesome pictures. Keep on my man

Happy New Year's to my peeps

Is it okay for me to stop feeling guilty about the starving children in Ethiopia? I swear that was drilled into me so well growing up that I feel like I can't waste anything.

Tonight with my dinner I buttered 2 rolls. I know, but they were whole wheat! I ate everything but 1 and was pretty full. But that one roll was taunting me and I had to eat it! I just couldn't let it go to waste.

Yesterday at the movies i bought a bag of starbursts. My sons won't eat the yellow ones and I don't care for them but I ate all of them first so I could enjoy the red ones after I got them out of the way. Why couldn't I just throw them out???

Because there's starving children in Ethiopia.....................

Hey ya'll, I haven't been very peepish because my parents are here for a few days. They almost never come to stay for more than a day and I've been enjoying having them here. That means all the desserts and sweet things we didn't have at Christmas wound up being made this week. The crummy thing is, my mom had a bariatric surgery several years ago and my dad is type 1 diabetic so none of us even needed to have the junk around in the first place.

I started a spreadsheet for food tracking. I don't know which plan I'm going with at the moment so I have planned to combine a few to try to make it work. I'm going to count calories (12xgoal) and use WW points +/- slim fast foods. I know it sounds like I'm wavering but I just can't do bars and shakes all the time and all the pre-packaged things add up so quickly. I know the reason I'm struggling so badly is I don't want to plan and I really don't want to spend a few hours putting together a weeks worth of meals. I did that in the spring and I had some things go bad when I didn't eat them quickly enough.

Hi. I see lots of posters I remember and some new peeps too.

Pakey- Sorry about the hair trauma. But you are right, tomorrow is another day. Start again!
dwheatl- Good idea on the FitTV. I have no idea if we get that or not. We do get SiTV which is currently showing my guilty pleasure... Dark Angel... the old Jessica Alba show. Last time I lost weight I would just exercise to
80s music in the comfort of my own home usually holding the baby-at-the-time. If you use the broad dfn of exercise that includes dancing like a fool.
Monica- Congrats on day one being a success. That is the hardest. I am doing good but the next hour is the challenge (the kids are in bed, what treat should I have???)
DisneyLaura- Nice to meetcha! Thanks for the welcome.

Thanks for your post Winkers. You spoke to one of my problem areas. Waste not, want not but that results in alot of waist. So I try to counteract my early training by repeating "I am NOT a human trash compactor." While we should not waste any resource, I think it is sign of low self worth to treat yourself like a garbage can. Someone said (a couple of days ago maybe) abhout how she (or was it he? sorry Wisconsin guy if it was you) had learned that self denial isn't denial but really treating yourself best.

PS The before and after pictures were very inspiring. Thanks Punkin and Wisconsin Guy!

I love the trivia challenge, Melinda! When I got the email I went straight there - shortly after the new year started before I went to bed. That's one of my "things I need to improve". I need to get more sleep. I'm really bad about staying up til 2 which means I get 5 to 6 hours of sleep which I really don't think is enough.

I'm also bad about only exercising with my trainer which would be fine if I were trying to maintain, but since I need to lose at least 100 more before I'm maintaining I'm adding a walk at lunch with a co-worker and 15 minutes a day on the bicycle whether I want to or not. I started that New year's Eve even tho I had to work and got home a little after midnight!

A few years ago I started exercising New Year's Day, kept it up for about four months until I hit a plateau. I wish now so much I had kept it up then, but it also makes me know I can do it because I've done it before, and I've learned a plateau is no reason to quit.

happy new year and good luck as we head for our newest goals!!
