DISappearing Peeps...A fastpass to THIN! Part 2

KIMKINS is intriging me because it works but theres this huge HUGE juicy contraversy about the lady who developed it , there is NO one named Kim at all. Her name is something Diaz. Her after picture from different sources was a different skinny model....You KNOW I love stuff like that! She claims she loves her privacy and wanted to show what was "possible" with Kimkins...it screams scam even though the diet does work (gals at church are losing like CRAZY on it).

Longwinded run-on sentence much?

What type of diet is this?

The floor looks great!!!

I posted on Wendy/Utahmama's thread some pictures of the Kona and Ohana Peep Meet!! (not the good one/s uma posted!)

ten days till dh and I are there - childless!!

I know that you will enjoy your time there. It is totally different not having your kids there.

My fat is mostly my hips, thighs, and bum. My waste is disproportionately smaller. To get jeans to fit my lower half I have to cinch a belt which puckers the wasteline of the jeans. GRRRRRR! I feel like I look hideous lately! Like a Teletubby!:sad2:

I soooo understand this. This is how I am---makes getting pants even more depressing.

DAWN---I love your hair. It is great. I need to do something new to mine--but will wait until I know what I want.

GOOD LUCK TO ALL YOU GETTING READY FOR THE MARATHON!!!!

That's our front yard - its from a couple days ago - the first snow is beautiful

Being swept in the half or full at WDW - you MUST maintain a 16min per mile pace - if you dont get to the entrance (CM) to MK at a certain time, they close it off and you are out of luck - and one year that man took his job very seriously, he closed the gate at the START time, NOT chip time - it can take 20 min to cross the STARTING line!! (18,000 people are racing, someone has to be last!!)

Hopefully they have corrected this problem. right now I'm at 15 min mile, but I am having problems - dh assures me its mental - my ankles are so sore (slipping on ice I imagine!) my arches ache (I have a pronation, where my ankles naturally turn in ) my calves are sore, I have shin splints, as well as that bone spur thingy (plantar fascia)

see how I can find so many excuses??

DH is trying to help me, letting me know I need to try gu - energy burst, horrible taste - for me, it reminds me of that stuff you have to drink when you are Pregnant - to see if you have gestational diabeties :rotfl2:

well, it is ALL about ME!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

sounds good! :thumbsup2 i've never had cornish game hens. what are they comparable to, if anything?

PICTURE TIME!!!!!!! here are before and after pics of my bathroom floor. please excuse my messy closet. i didn't think about closing that door to hide the one place in my house that is crazy messy. i also didn't think to take the "before" picture until ray was starting to rip up the floor. you can see his knee sticking out of the toilet room and the floor being ripped apart.

oh, and here's my new shorter hair. same haircut......just shorter. this is my i'm-trying-to-be-sexy-for-my-peeps-but-it's-not-working face!

Cornish game hens are like little wee chickens. They make for good plate presentation, plus you can stuff them and stick them in the oven for about 2 hours which helps for dinner parties and such, can do all the prep work before people arrive. And, at Super Wal-mart you can get them frozen for about $1.50 each.

Love the bathroom and haircut!!

Hi! I'm new here!

2008 is the year I finally have to face my poor eating habits.
I have a good exercise program, but snacking and desserts is my downfall, and I want to eat more meatless meals, so ideas are welcomed!!

20 pounds by June 2008 is my goal

Welcome!! :cheer2:

Snacking is my downfall too. I can't help you much on meatless meals, sorry!

This is great group, so jump right in!

!

The Dawn diet sounds like it works! Maybe when i get sick of Atkins, I'll switch to something like that. And you are exercising? Wow!! Good for you!! I need to exercise, but I need to find something I can do even with heel spurs in both heels and torn cartilidge in my left knee. I might check out the fees at the indoor pool.

Pool sounds great!! I try to keep my cardio exercise low-impact... elliptical trainer, arc trainer, skating, ice hockey (which sounds high impact but actually isn't in a non-checking adult league). I would love to be in the running group but my ankles and feet can't take the abuse.

I started with about 70 to lose and am down to 30 or so. We tried Atkins a few years back but I just can't stick to it. The calorie control (or "Dawn" diet LOL) allows me to have what I want in small portions, or moderation, and I don't feel as deprived. Plus, we drink, and I need the ability to add in beer or wine calories occasionally... tried that with Atkins but something about how the body metabolizes alcohol into sugar seemed to interfere w/ weight loss for both Mr Kat and I.

Kat your dinner sounds fabulous. I love Cornish game hens. Didn't discover them until I started dieting and gosh, wish I'd eaten them all along. Oh, and the desserts don't sound shabby either.

What do you guys do for breakfast? I always ate fruit but now that I'm cold, it's not sounding good and I'm struggling in the morning to stay on target. This morning I had toast with jelly, not very low-cal there. I just don't know what to do when I'm cold. And I hate oatmeal.

They turned out great!! So cute, too. LOL!

My breakfast is usually one of three things... One breakfast lean pocket (160 cals, 4 g fat), one Red Berries Special K Eggo waffle (80 cals), or if I have time, I toast a 100 calorie English muffin, and take 1/3 cup of egg beaters spread thin on the bottom of a bowl sprayed w/ Pam and nuked for 1 min, and make a psuedo McD's egg McMuffin with it... sometimes with Canadian bacon, sometimes w/ 1 TBSP reduced fat bacon bits sprinkled in the egg while cooking, and always with a sprinkle of reduced fat cheese before sandwiching.

Bonnie! You are stunningly beautiful! OMGawsh! And those legs! Those EYES! ((from a totally straight, upstanding LDS woman, mind you))

I am just the opposite... big apple waist and chicken legs. Like a lollipop, or maybe a little kid with one of those tube shirts w/ the tube around the waist. My waistband is always tight, butt and thighs roomy. Natural waist is very high, torso is short, and inseam is 33" at 5'8" (meaning, no pants are ever long enough, and mini-skirts are not even remotely possible even when thin).

So, I survived Christmas today... I think all my last minute shopping and cooking went over well!

Btw, I am glad to see all the new faces, and activity!! :yay:

WELCOME!!!!!!! you'll love it here. it moves fast, so don't get frustrated if you come back tomorrow and there's 5 pages to read. and if you get too behind just skim.....we won't mind! weigh-ins are on fridays. when you weigh in you don't have to post your weight....just how much you've lost or gained (or if you've stayed the same). we're also having a valentine's day challenge where you set a goal for yourself to valentine's day. it's easier to conquer this weight loss thing when you set mini goals! aaron keeps up with our weight loss for the challenge and posts a nifty little chart so we can see our progress.

about your meatless meals....do you mean meatless as in no fish, as well? some people don't consider fish as meat. anyway, tilapia is a good way to eat fish a lot and not pay a fortune for it. i usually either marinate mine in lemon pepper marinade overnight then grill it or i coat it with safflower oil, sprinkle some weber's citrus seasoning on it, then put it in a frying pan on low and cover it with aluminium foil for about 10-12 minutes (of course flipping it halfway through). good stuff!

sounds good! :thumbsup2 i've never had cornish game hens. what are they comparable to, if anything?

the DIS was down last night and i swear i was having withdrawals. :scared: that's really sad.

PICTURE TIME!!!!!!! here are before and after pics of my bathroom floor. please excuse my messy closet. i didn't think about closing that door to hide the one place in my house that is crazy messy. i also didn't think to take the "before" picture until ray was starting to rip up the floor. you can see his knee sticking out of the toilet room and the floor being ripped apart.

your floor looks GREAT Dawn!!!! Yay for Ray..and you have wonderful taste!
You look super cute with the new doo'!! Looking good girlfriend! :)

OOOOO!

Good juicey story about Kimkins....SCAM-O!

I googled Kimkins Controversy and got tons of juicy stuff. It was on the cover of Woman's World magazine too! The founder does have a before picture that is her, but numerous after pictures proven not to be her. And a private investigator got some video of her and she's 300 lbs (my guess).

Tons of people have bought into her diet on Kimkins.com for like $59? for a lifetime membership and it's sort of like Atkins or SB but only gives you 500 calories a day :scared1: Yup starvation works :scared1:

So needless to say, I'm sticking with Good lean proteins and healthy fruits and veggies, whole grains, and that's that!

I hate the night time! I just want to snack and I'm not at all hungry! I put all the Cabela's fudge and M&M's and christmas goodies in a bag and OUT in DH's car. I'm sure he'll appreciate that smooth move!

I need some baby carrots and edamame and other crunchy snacks.

Got through another skinny day!!!! :woohoo:

I just wanted to let you guys know that I had DH take all of the Sees candy and put it somewhere else and then tonight I begged him to get some out for me and I had 2 pieces. Then I got irritated with him for enabling me and told him tomorrow he has to hide it for good or burn it or something.

It's really annoying to be married to such a nice guy. I wish he would have said that my big rear end didn't need those 2 pieces of candy. He does not care that I'm plumpy and it's even more annoying that the man weighs the same as he did 25 years ago.

Kat Thanks so much for the breakfast ideas. You have no idea how much it's going to help me out. I'm going to the store tomorrow. I think if I can start the day off right, it will help me to stay on track the rest of the day (and getting rid of that candy once and for all will help too).

Bonnie Are you done with that Twilight book yet? It's been a day now.

So I'm going to say good morning right now and beat all of you to it. I've never got to be the first one to post in a day.

amen, sister! ray always tells me i don't need to diet. but when i'm standing in my closet crying because none of my clothes fit me (like i was about a year ago) then i have to do it for myself and stop listening to him. how dare he show me unconditional love! and he's the same as your DH....weighs about the same as he did when i met him 14 years ago. the worst part is when he's eating a reese's peanut butter cup and talking to me and i can smell it on his breath!!!!! :headache:

Great job Wendy. You are doing so awesome. I know how hard it is to re-start. You are inspiring.

Stick with what you know works. I am.

Have a great New Year everyone.

HAHAHAHA!!!!

what's so funny? i can't see the picture!

for those of you wondering about lynda, i sent her an e-mail and she hasn't responded yet. i was starting to worry but i just checked her myspace page and she was on yesterday. so she's okay! i'll let you know if she e-mails me back.

Grrrr. I spent my lunch break quoting and responding to almost 10 pages worth of posts, and then I get a database error when I go to submit my reply. I don't have the patience to go through it all again, so I'll try to remember what I typed.

Dawn - The floor looks great! And I like the hair. My wife is constantly changing her hair as well. Not as dramatic as you; it is always the same color, but different styles and highlights. And me? I've had the same haircut for 10 years now. I'm just grateful that I still have hair to get cut!

UMA - I'm flattered by the "hero" comment, but I'm nobody's hero. Check back with me 25 pounds from now, and I might have a different opinion. But when I look in the mirror I certainly don't feel like a weight-loss hero.

Valentines Day Challenge - I think I've got everyone marked down so far. I am waiting until I weigh myself on Friday before I set my final goal. But it'll probably be 7-10 pounds, depending on how far away I am from an even 170. Thankfully, the holidays are over and there really won't be any big temptations until Easter. So the pounds should start coming off (and staying off) a little easier between now and Valentine's Day.

And for our new Peep (sorry, I don't remember your name), Dawn (Punkin) explained it perfectly. The goal is typically "I want to lose x pounds", and then I keep track of that in a handy-dandy spreadsheet to keep everyone honest. But you could even challenge yourself to exercise 5 nights a week; count your calories, WW points, etc. every day; drink all of your water; pretty much whatever it is that you feel is holding you back from reaching your goals.

I just know I'm forgetting to respond to a few people!

Everyone have a safe New Years Eve! And remember - if you drink, don't drive; and if you have to drive, don't drink!!! As for me, we're making crab legs and spending a quiet night at home. We're too old to be heading out tonight. (Yep, I'm 30 and I consider myself too old to go out on New Year's Eve.)

Hi all,

Earlier today I had typed this wonderful long message, and then disboards.com ATE IT!!! So now, of course, I can't remember what I typed earlier, but I will try my best to recreate something that is coherent...

Anyway, this is a small update from me... My doc released me to go back to work on Saturday (I work at a hair salon), so I've been back at work since then, and I'm so glad to be out of the house! After being practically bed-ridden for a month, it's so nice to do something OTHER THAN watch tv... :happytv:

Still no real answers yet as to why I developed a DVT. I still have more waiting to do, because my hematologist won't be doing the additional blood work to figure out the problem for another 3 months so I will be popcorn:: until then...

I still HAVE NOT been released to exercise yet, he says he wants me to wait a few more weeks before I can do that, so I won't be able to participate in the Valentine's Day challenge that I skimmed over a few pages back, but I will be :cheer2: for you all who do participate!

Someone (Dawn, I think???) had asked if I had been able to reschedule my trip... My doc says I can't travel for a while, he wants me to be more stable first, so I won't get a chance to get back to WDW until at least late spring/early summer.

Also, since I'm back at work now, I will be able to post and participate more on the boards (since I do most of my internet surfing/chatting from work... :lmao: )

Since I admittedly skimmed over the happenings of the last week or so, I don't have much to add just yet to all of the ongoing conversations, but I think I saw some remodeling pics... it looks nice... whoever they belong to...

I hope everyone has a great New Year's Eve/Day... I'm on blood thinners, so I won't be able to have a midnight champagne toast, but I will raise a glass of sparkling cider as the ball drops tonight and wish you all a wonderful and prosperous year! See you guys in '08!!! :grouphug:

Hello!

I wanted some motivation to start off the New Year. This thread has been around forever WOW! I was just wondering how much weight in total you guys have lost as a member of the disappearing peeps! Lets hear about all your good work!!!! :worship:

This weekend went great (so far!...tonight another story going to a concert tonight). My mother has lost 40 pounds on ww and has kept it off for over 15 years..i dont know why i didnt try it sooner. So far it has been working for me..I have 24 extra points until wednesday..so maybe i will use them on a drink or two tonight ;)

Happy New Year to all!!!

Looking forward to reaching my goal with all of you.

We got back from Monterey last night, and a NYE eve party that was so fun. Danced like crazy (literally) and had the best together time with DH. Spongie, I got the giggles thinking about your trip report and the "bed music." Let me just say we did some of that dance too ;)

I'm heading out to get shrimp and crab legs (no that doesn't mean shrimp LEGS and crab legs; gross!). My sister and her DH are coming over tonight. We'll have a feast and sparkling cider. Dbil has to go to work at 10, but my sis will stay for midnight.

All the pictures are lovely. Welcome to our 2 newbies. Sorry I was sort of skimming because I was on hold with Amazon for a total of 3 hours. I did emerge victorious, though. They credited me the $60 they owed me.

I'm going to look at the South Beach link someone posted (Thanks Sandy!.) DH and I need something to turn over a new leaf. We've been eating ourselves sick for the last couple of weeks. Time to start over.

Everyone have a great last day of 2007. 2008 will be our year:thumbsup2

LMO - I've lost ~40 pounds since joining here towards the beginning of this year. It was slightly over 40 about two weeks ago. But then after Christmas and my brother-in-law's wedding the past weekend, I fear I'll be adjusting that to the mid-30's. But when I think that at this time last year I was sitting at 215 and generally unhappy with myself; and now a year later I am in the mid-170's and am in a MUCH better mindset than 12 months ago, I guess I can't really complain. And I am hoping against hope that at this time next year, I'll be at my goal weight of 155. Just 20 little pounds to go. I know I can do it, especially with the help of the wonderful people here.

And just to give myself a little kick in the pants to get going in the right direction again, I'm going to re-post something that I first wrote back in March when I dipped below the 200 mark for the first time in about 5 years, just so I can remember how good it can feel to reach your goals.

But the really big news is that, for the first time in almost 5 years, my weight starts with the number "1"!!! I'm trying not to get too excited about it, because I know that I've still got a long ways to go before I am at my goal. But I do feel good about the fact that I have been able to lose over 40 pounds with out drastic surgery or fad diets (unless you consider Weight Watchers a "fad diet"). I know that I have to exercise more than I do; and if I let up for even a week then I'll be on my way to 240 lbs again. So I'm certainly not going to relax now. As I said, I've got a good 45 pounds to go before I'll be happy.

However, I've learned a few things while trying to lose this weight:

- I have discovered that there is no miracle cure. I've tried pills and shakes and everything imaginable over the past decade. But the only thing that has ever worked was eating smart and exercising.
- I have realized that losing weight takes time. It has been said countless times, but it took me 30 years to gain this weight, so I'm not going to take it all off in a week. As has become my motto - "Slow and Steady Wins the Race".
- I have learned from past experiences that once you lose weight, you can't get complacent. If you ease up on the gas peddle just a bit, those lost pounds will start finding their way back to your body.
- I have discovered that I have a lot more willpower than I ever thought possible.
- I have learned what food does to me, both good and bad. So now whenever someone brings donuts or cookies or some other sweet treat into work, I just think "I can't believe people would do that to themselves" and just walk away instead of grabbing for the biggest one.
- I have learned that I don't need dessert to make a meal complete. I also don't have to get an appetizer every time I go out for dinner.
- I have rediscovered my love of cooking. It is something that I really enjoy doing, and it is also better for me. I control what goes into my food, which in turn gives me control over what goes in my mouth.
- I have discovered that my weight does not define me. I used to think that everyone saw me as a big, lovable, jolly guy. And I was honestly a little afraid that if I lost weight, that would change. So I would tell myself that I'd probably always be heavy, so my only goal was to be "not as fat". But I now know that I'll be just as lovable and jolly, even if my belly doesn't jiggle like a bowl full of jelly.
- I have learned that I really can't do it on my own. Despite my very independent nature, there are some things that are easier when you have some help.

I'd probably have something more profound to say if I wasn't still 45 pounds overweight. So I'll hold off on making some big Rocky IV "If I can change, and you can change, then everybody can change" type of speech until I reach my goal. But the fact that I can even think about what I'm going to do "when" I reach my goal as opposed to "if" I reach my goal is profound enough for me.

I hope everyone has a very happy and skinny New Year!

well said! we're going to anna and chris's house because they only live 3 blocks away! i think i can handle that drive even if i have a couple of drinks. ;)

hi! so good to hear from you!!!! i'm glad you're back at work now and living a somewhat normal life again...it has to be a relief for you. keep us updated on your condition. and i'm still crossing my fingers for you on your WDW trip!!! spring is a GREAT time to go as long as you avoid the easter and spring break crowds.

Lets hear about all your good work!!!! :worship:

well, when i joined this thread in march of '07 i weighed 162 pounds. i weighed myself this morning and i'm at 132 pounds. so it's 30 pounds for me. my goal is 130 pounds. now having said that, i'll probably be back up to 135 pounds by friday!

And just to give myself a little kick in the pants to get going in the right direction again, I'm going to re-post something that I first wrote back in March when I dipped below the 200 mark for the first time in about 5 years, just so I can remember how good it can feel to reach your goals.

i love that you posted this!

party: HAPPY NEW YEAR, PEEPS!!!!!party:

i hope all of you have a safe and fun holiday! and i wish you all happiness and contentment for the coming year. make this be the year you achieve your goals......weight-related or not!!!!

we're going over to anna and chris's house (3 blocks away). i do NOT do public roads on new year's eve.....too many crazies! anyway, i'll have a couple of drinks but that's it. and i will have to drive - ray can't walk! his tendonitis is flaring up in his foot from where he laid the new bathroom floor and he sat on it wierd the whole time. he's limping around and every time he puts weight on it he moans. so i've got him on leftover anti-inflammatories and pain meds. should be a fun night! :rotfl: BE CAREFUL to everyone who's going out!

What a great motivating story!!! congrats on your success

Aaron: Put me down for 12 pounds for the Valentines day challenge.

Thanks for the story. It was very inspiring. Your success is amazing.

MUA: It's good that you are getting some normalcy back into your life. Hope they can find the root of the problem soon.

LMO: When I joined the group I was on my way to losing weight, and then I got knocked up! She is our souvenier from our trip to WDW. Now that that's all over with, the whole nursing thing and what not, I'm ready to lose what I gained from this pregnancy and then what I was trying to lose before. I wanna say I lost 20 with the help of this wonderful group. I know I will lose it all this time.

Good luck to you and hope to see you around here posting away!

I did eat healthy today. Easing my way into my healthy new year.

Happy Healthy New Year

DAWN--how many EXPO reviews have you done to make the amount that you have. Have you had to go and get people to view your stuff or something like that or has it just been by chance? Thanks

MONICA--I feel the same way. When I lost all my weight and I still needed to lose more--I got knocked up. Rebekah is now 3 months and 1 week and still going strong nursing. I pump 3x a day school is in. I have lost all the baby weight but about 3 pounds and then I need to lose another 20 to boot. Hopefully I will get it doen before the beach this summer. I will start WW back next week and will try to start couch to 5k again. I made it to week 6 and then I was preggo.
