Good Morning Peeps,
I'm a SAMER
Yay!!! I won!!!
My mom is bipolar, so I completely understand where you are coming from and what you are dealing with. Having a mom (or child, etc) with this disorder makes for an interesting (and not necessarily always in a good way) life. I actually currently don't have much contact with my mother as a result of her illness and some of the issues I've had to deal with, with her. I got tired of being the parent in the relationship, and it came down to my sanity or her sanity, and I (for the first time in my 30 years) chose myself over her, and she's not happy about it...
I am also a binger (and occasional purger...
... I know, I know... it's bad)
I have soooo many issues with food. I also have OCD and most of my obsessions and compulsions are related to food (I will cry and have a complete meltdown if my food touches and I can't get them apart... like if vegetables end up in my mashed potatoes, etc, I also have to finish everything on my plate at the same time... like, when I am almost done with my food, if you look at my plate, you will see that I will have ONE BITE of everything left on my plate... I cried when I was little and my mom gave me too much of a particular food, because it would mess up my eating pattern, because I just HAVE to finish everything at the same time.)
Anyway, here's a bio (again)...
- My name is LaTia (but most everyone calls me Tia)
- I am a classically trained opera singer
- I am currently a full time Makeup Artist and Salon Manager
- I am also in the process of getting licensed as a hairstylist
- I am gluten intolerant/Celiac (meaning I can't eat anything with wheat, oats, barley, or rye)
- I will be 30 years old on Dec. 18
- I have been overweight all of my life (I was wearing a women's size 18 when I was in the 7th grade)
- I am not married yet (much to my parents' chagrin...)
- I LOVE DISNEY... but, of course, who doesn't on these boards??
And I think that about sums me up in a nutshell... *does that make me a nut???**
I'm a SAMER
DING DING DING!!! We've got a winner! And for that, you get a 1-year free membership to the DISBoards. Congratulations!

My son, 26, still lives with us. He is bipolar and has an up and down life that he shares with us, even when we don't want it.

I'll do another mini-bio:
I'm Shannon, 27 years old. I'm a binger and compulsive over eater. I think I have a lot more issues with food that I realize.

I also know abou tthe family memeber who is bi polar - once my parents are gone, I know my sister will end up with me. Thank goodness Tammy understands this. She's not happy about it, but she understands.
I love flannel sheets. Even in the summer! One of my favorite things to do is curl up with a magazine and the remote and settle in for a little bit. I am mostly a lurker on these boards. I tend to be totally random! The first picture is of me on July 4th - at about 218lbs- excuse the jerk beside me. The second picture was taken this past weekend in NYC - yes, I know I must look gigantic next to my friend Jen - who is all of 102lbs soaking wet- but I was 183lbs when this was taken. I hope these don't come out too big! I'm sorry! I don't know how shrink the dang pictures!
That puts me at 220.4. But I totally expected it with AF having arrived yesterday. I feel SO bloated! But the good thing about this is that I also expect to see much of the gain gone by this time next week. And as long as I am down 1.4 lbs by then, I'll still be at Turkey Day goal weight. So, I'll work hard and drink a LOT of water, and hopefully I'll be where I need to be next week.
As a matter of fact, Aaron, take me off the Thanksgiving Challenge as well. I have been have some physical issues and this weight just isn't budging!
When I come home, I am hoping there will be a Christmas Challenge starting and I will definitely be a part of that!!!
Nice to get to know y'all!
I hope they can find a home for it!
