Just a quick fly-by. Hope everyone has a wonderful day. Happy Sunday!:goodvibes WONDERS: I don't have a brother, but my little sister and I are just this past week starting to talk after many years of silence. Not so much the rest of my "family". Plus older brothers can be aggravating sometimes, I should know, I married one. :grouphug: :flower3:

GOOD MORNING! :sunny:

Finally caught up after days of being behind and now I'll never remember what I wanted to comment on. That reminds me....DS and I watched Meet the Robinsons on Friday night...did you see the billboard....Remember to buy some Ginko Biloba!

I am shocked that you youngsters do not know of Family Affair!!! We watched that show every day! I had a Mrs. Beasley doll too!

Lynda! You DO look like Alicia Silverstone! WOW! for you and Josh!

Monica! You DON'T look like Mrs. Beasley but you DO look fabulous! You have beautiful eyes! Prayers for DH on the job situation. Somes I just pray for guidance and ask God not to let me miss the signs he sends. Cause I'm kinda dense like that. I do not look like any celebrity...for the record. But DD14 has been told many times that she looks like Kirstin Dunst. One of the lifeguards at POR even stopped her to say so.

Shannon....I don't know what to say on your brother. Except maybe he sounds like he needs to get off his high horse and pay more attention to other peoples feelings. Pamrob gave good advice on that too!

Dawn
....Uggg. I'm sorry about your dad's situation. And I'm ashamed to admit that I was the bad daughter in a similar situation. I'm not a big fan of my mother's husband and they've been married 10 years. But to be honest, he is a crochety, biggoted, *******. (which I think she realized after being married to him for a couple of years.) I never told her not to marry him or date him though. She's a big girl and she deserves to be happy like you said. These girls sound a little immature...surely they will warm up to your dad once they get to know him. It's only been 3 months. :confused3

Majicintheair.....Is your daughter listening to gospel or contemporary Christian? Because I love contemporary Christian and listen to K-Love all the time! It's good stuff. Give it a listen!

Sandy! Glad you are having fun at UI!

Have a great Sunday!!! :flower3:

Good Morning Everyone! :wave2:

I thought that I would say hi before devoting the day to studying acid-base imbalances for a test tomorrow. I'm going to have some much fun that all of you should be sooooooooooooo jealous. ;)

Fran

Fran:rotfl2: yet Good Luck - keep calm...

Nan I missed your post yesterday about Chuck e Cheese... and yet :scared1: - sometimes it can be a scary place!!

Happy Sunday all :wizard:

DS #2 came home at 1:30 am ish - he's given up his bed for me - i'm up, showered and told him his turn for the bed!! i did dishes, made myself a cup of tea. And thanked God for the blessings today!! DS#1 just got up to walk the doggie (chiuauauaaa) I went shopping yesterday, bought the boys meat, shower curtain, beer... you know kids these days... see when I was in college we drank beer - any ole beer in a can, cheap stuff... my sons? Guiness, Oktoberfest, Sam Adam's Light!!! And they only drink one every now and again.... Eagle Scouts... if you want to rent to boys, renting to 3 Eagle Scouts is a goog thing...

DS just came in,

Keep the faith Monica!!

Melinda - I remember Family Affair!!! I never had a Mrs. Beasley doll although I had friends who did.

On a whim about a month ago I relocated our Christian music station. The music is very good - I was surprised how much it sounds alot like mainstream music. The message is just better and I don't have to worry about what my kids might accidentally hear. I haven't totally convinced them though, they complain and frequently when I get back in the van someone has changed the station. I like a variety of music and this gives me yet another station to listen to.

Melinda I've seen your pic. If I looked like you, I'd be posting 100s of them here. But I don't look like you so no pics for awhile. I'm 51 and I look my age. I've always had ugly frizzy hair but when it fell out 10 days after my first chemo treatment, I cried like a little kid. Now it's about 2 inches long and uglier than before. Not only frizzy, but it has twice the curl but not consistent--some patches are straight. I have a widows peak on my forehead so I kind of look like a clown-I just need the red nose. I can't wait until it gets long enough for a flatiron and some bangs. The way it looks right now, I definitely looked better when I was completely bald.

I'm going to have a 90 minute layover in SLC on our way to the world in January--perhaps Wendy could meet me at the airport and perform some magic on me so that I won't feel awful in those photopass pics!!!!!

But I will be thinner at least, thanks to all of you who keep me motivated and provide such great tips.

The NASCAR race has started so I'd better grab a piece of fruit and settle in for the ride.

Pakey... I don't have any advice, just wish I could reassure you in person that you are beautiful, esp after all you have been through.

Shannon, I don't get along with my brother either. I try not to let it bother me but sometimes it is hard.

Question to all... has anyone ever shipped a package to a WDW resort? I want to carry on since it is just a short weekend, and would like to send a few supplies ahead of time (margarita fixin's, some snacks, toothpaste) as to make the strip search at the airport less probably. What do you have to do? Just send name-on-reservation, c/o resort, address? Do I need to call the resort and let them know? Is it better to have it arrive the day before? I plan on shipping UPS 2 or 3 day.

T-5 days to WDW girls weekend!!

Thanks for the comforting words re: my brother. I do get along with him but he does take things too far sometimes which is what he did yesterday. I could tell the rest of the afternoon he was being extra nice to me to try to make up for it, but I'm still upset about it though. I have the tendency to forgive but not forget.

Peeps, you have been warned. I'm posting a "before" pic. I took it this afternoon. Don't pay attention to the mis-matching ugly clothes. I was just lounging around and needed to put on shorts so you could see my legs. No need for comments...just putting it out there to hopefully motivate me to not look like that in a month, 2 months, etc.

Anyone here do FaceBook? It's like Myspace but a little less, hmmm, what's the word I'm looking for? Can't think of it. ;) Anyway, a friend turned me onto it and now I'm obsessed with it. I've been messing with it all afternoon.

Hope everyone had a nice Sunday. I bought a jump rope at Target today. I thought I actually knew how to jump rope. Apparently I don't. :rotfl: I either jump too soon and miss it entirely or I can't get a second jump in. :rotfl2: But I'll get it eventually I'm sure. Should be a good workout if I can ever figure it out. I have healthy foods and I really really want to be "good" this week. I need a real loss on the scale on Friday. It will be tricky with Halloween Candy lying around but if I can limit my intake of that, I should still be ok. I want to make my Turkey Day Challenge goal!

Hope everybody had a nice weekend! :goodvibes

Shannon....I'm on Facebook every day. It's part of my job working with college students. It's like MySpace....all grown up. Is that what you mean?

Anyway...it's how we publicize events, find addresses, phone numbers, etc. It is fun although I have to say that many students post things/pictures that maybe aren't in their best interest.

Colleges/HR people look up your MySpace and Facebook so you always want it to be presentable....well I'm not talking about you, Shannon...but in general....geez...you know what I mean.

Yes I didn't know how to say it without making it sound like I'm putting myspace down...which I'm not. I have one of those too!

And I did notice that facebook is all about the "networking"...since my DSIL and her sisters are on it, there is nothing I wouldn't tell them or my mom so I'm good to go with it being "presentable" :thumbsup2 My myspace is ok too, but not really so professional...but nothing raunchy, just typical 20-something year old stuff. At least I think it's ok.

Thanks for the kind words. I promise I'll post a pic after my Jan trip. By then my hair will be longer and I'll have 10 lbs less on me!!!

We ship to ourselves every trip--we have 3 adult sons who drink copious amounts of alcohol so much cheaper to UPS to ourselves. You do not need to call ahead. On the outside of the box, address it to the resort. Under the address, kind of like bottom/left, put the name the reservation is under and the arrival date. We used to put our reservation number also but I don't think they care about that anymore, as long as they have the arrival date so they know how long they'll have to hold the package. When you check in, just ask them if it's arrived and they'll bring it out to you.

Hi everybody!

I can't even begin to catch up tonight as I've been working on about 5 hours of sleep (teething baby), BUT I weighed in on Friday morning and I've gained 1 pound. I'm not going to beat myself up about this, as I've been doing much better about exercising. I finally have my "old people" orthotics in my shoes so I can walk without pain, and we actually bought a nice treadmill from a friend at a very reasonable price. Moreover, we've used it! That's the miracle, really.

I've been under a lot of stress during the last month, babysitting my nephew and helping my sister get her house ready to sell, and it's showing in my eating patterns. I also think that stress causes weight gain, or at least slows it, because of the cortisol it releases into your system. So I'm going to make a conscious effort to reduce the stress, ask for help, and exercise at all costs. I planned out some meals so I'm not tempted to go for carry-out or fast food, and I am less than 100 days away from Disney World, so I am EXTRA motivated to lose this weight!

Thanks again to everyone on this thread who inspires me and helps me feel more positive about everything in life.

Have a beautiful week!

Evening. About to go to sleep. Just wanted to catch up reading.

What a day. A very good positive day. I spent it with my kids doing so much.

It ended with Matt and I spending the evening at a party for the Junior High Youth Group at church. They had a Dead Theologians party. They made a scavenger hunt based around Saints. They were so creative with putting this together and I loved being able to help out. Matt and I don't get alot of one on one time and this was just perfect.

Praying for a good week. For all of us.

Hi everyone!:goodvibes Remember me?:rolleyes1

I skimmed the last few pages and wanted to tell you,Monica, that I will be praying for you and DH as you make these decisions.

I lost 2.5 lbs last week.I didn't post on Friday ,mainly because I haven't been active on the thread in a while and felt weird about it.But then I decided I need to get back on this thread and maybe it will help.:hippie:

Everyone have a great Monday!:grouphug:

GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE! :sunny:

Woke up to dog poop by the computer this morning. Uggg. We have to confine our almost 16 year old dog to the computer room now for various reasons.....she paces at night, she uses the bathroom all over the house, and for her own safety as she can't see/hear.

So this morning I wake up to find that not only has she pooped...she paced through it several hundred times. :headache: Are we nearing the rainbow bridge? Anybody? I mean she's not in any pain but her quality of life is pretty awful. We're almost at the point of carrying her outside to go to the bathroom.

Any opinions on this subject would be appreciated.

Monica....A scavenger hunt? How fun! I'm helping with the youth lock-in next weekend at our church! :) Good job on the new ring for DH. Was it your anniversary? My DH hasn't worn his ring since our honeymoon.

Abish....Here's to a less stressful week this week!

Shannon....Good job on the facebook. I don't mean to sound like your mom but you know lots of people look at those profiles. I've been a little shocked by some stuff I've seen.

Pakey....I'm sure you're beautiful! Don't sell yourself short! :flower3:

EVERYBODY HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!

Melinda...We went through this with our 14yo dog in August. She couldn't see/hear, used the rugs as her personal potty and basically slept all the time. We crated her at night and during the day while we worked. Otherwise she would be loose. She also had a medical condition with her eyes, and if we didn't clean them 2 times a day, they would goop shut. I finally talked to the vet because her day consisted of being carried outside, fed, carried outside, then when she came in, she'd go upstairs and lay in her open crate. The vet said that eventually you have to decide what their quality of life is. Are they "living" or "existing"? It's never an easy decision, but I'm sure you'll make one when you're ready. My prayers are with you on this.

I went to a "Purse Party"last night and bought 2 beaded purses...one for my DD2 for Christmas and one for me to take on my trip. Also bought a beaded decorated shirt for DD1 for Christmas. It was fun!

I need to get ready for work...another day, another dollar!

Great idea Shannon! I am not as brave as you and wont' be posting that pic here..however I think I will take one of myself and stow it away on my computer and take a new one each month just to visually see how i am doing..
Oh and side note..i am the WORST jump roper ever..i manage to jump in time, but i get dizzy after like 10 hops..so more power to you for jumpin! ;)

Ooooh a purse party..how fun!! I went to a Tastefully Simple party yesterday actually and bought all sorts of goodies to make for upcoming holiday events...i really can't believe we are hitting November this week!! :scared1: I love it, but I better get my behind in gear early this year for the holidays..i was last-minute-girl last year..and that is no fun!

Have a great Monday everyone! :)

Melinda - We are in a similar situation with our dog. She is approaching 17. She has also been crate trained which is great since she is used to sleeping in there at night. Generally she has never used her crate as a bathroom, only very, very infrequently. However, it is now becoming something that needs to be cleaned out several times a week. It's very frustrating. While the weather is nice she spends most of her days on the deck, sleeping in her basket. She still goes down into the yard to potty although the girls reported one incident of solid material in the basket this past weekend. She can't hear hardly at all and I know her sight is extremely impaired. I have had several weeks the past six months where I thought she was genuinely on her last leg then she will suddenly start acting better. It's really a hard decision especially with children in the house. We had to put down our beagle (Monet) a couple of years ago the week before Christmas and it was not an easy process for the girls. He was very sick and struggling so it was only a matter of (short) time before he would have passed on his own. I think the girls will have a harder time with Elly is they don't perceive her as really sick or dying. I guess I'm not really giving you any good advice, am I? We are in the same situation and it's a difficult one.

I  Tastefully Simple! I have a friend who is a demonstrator and I think someone is always having a party! I love the the various dips, spices, soups, and breads! So nice to have it on hand to "whip up" when needed!

I've started my Christmas stuff. I made placemats for a co-worker, the quilt for my grandson, (which I have to finish) and am working on stockings for my DD's and their families. I am on a roll! :rotfl:

Do you have a pic of the placemats? I love seeing what others have made.

I am taking Joshua back to the Dr. for the 3rd time in 3 weeks. He has had a cough going on 7 weeks. They put him on an antibiotic at his 2 yr. checkup and then last week I had to take him back because he was no better. THey put him on another antibiotic and prednisone plus albuterol. Well be is no better if not worse. Well he is worse. He cannot quit coughing--has moments where he can't breathe for the coughing. He also is not sleeping for all the coughing--and if he is the least bit active which the meds make him the coughing is even worse. Till this point our Dr. has not wanted to say he as asthma, but we have tried all the other things and nothing has worked. He gets this cough about 5 times a year. So today we might actually get a diagnosis and get treates properly. I will let you know what he says.

CHRISTI---was moved to a different hospital last week---the one she was moved to has a cancer center so it should be easier to get her radiation treatment. She is talking and eating. Likes all the company but still tires easily and sleeps a lot. She still has a long way to go. Hopefully I will get a full update later today and I will let you guys know.

It is official---We have decided to do the Gatlinburg this summer. If anyone has any information on where to stay let me know.
