Dance, sorry I missed meeting you at WDW. I made it over to Ohana later than I would have liked so I missed the group photo. Your daughter's outfit is adorable! I am also sad to have missed meeting Lynda, but it was very nice to have met a few Peeps! I never got any photos of or with Melinda, despite running into her and her sweet kids several times, but here are a few photos that I took:

First, those puppies are so cute!!!!!

And second, I wish I could have met you too, and Linda. Maybe next time. I am sure there will be a next time, right peeps?

And thanks to everyone for the compliments on my DD and the outfits. I really am having a blast making them. And I am having a tough time sleeping lately, so it helps me pass the time when I am restless and makes my eyes tired to help me fall asleep.

My problem child returns today, with the caveat to her mother that this is her last chance and I need a phone number to call of somebody who can come get here in record time if she chooses to get physical today. I refuse to take carp like that from a 5 yr old! Wish me luck and pixie dust. Starting monday she will only be here 9-2 instead of until 6, thankfully. Only 2 more days.

Punkin---I'll bring you a gallon or two of water if I can come have that dinner on Saturday. Sounds totally delicious and definitely 800% more interesting than anything I might be having. :flower3:

You are one lucky woman -- a hubby that can cook!! That dinner sounds absolutely delish and completely irresistable!

That dinner sounds wonderful...GO RAY! :thumbsup2 Greg made a yummy dinner last night, a family recipe..and pretty healthy too..its a Greek soup ( not that he is greek) and its called Egg-Lemon with rice..soo flippen good..terrific comfort food. Men that cook make me happy

Have a great day everyone!

yes, i am one lucky girl! ray can take anything and turn it into a decent meal!!

Moo checking in.

hi, cheryl! i've been wondering where you've been. good to "see" you! thanks for posting the pics....makes me want another lapu lapu pineapple! and the puppies are adorable!

GOOD MORNING, EVERYBODY! :sunny:

It's finally turned seasonably cold here in KY! It was 90 on Monday and then I turned off the a/c a couple of days ago. This morning it's chilly in the house and 47 outside. High today....61! Get out the long sleeves!

Punkin
....Thanks for noticing my siggie picture. I thought the kids had had enough time there...my turn. I love your avatar! Isn't that site fun?! Praying for rain in GA! :scared:

same here! i park my car in the garage so when i left this morning i had no idea what the air temp was. yesterday was really warm so i dressed accordingly. then i get to court and get out of car and ..... holy cow! it was actually chilly outside! now i'm sitting in the courtroom freezing.

still no rain though!

CHRISTI Update----Last night the Dr. said that she should be moved to a room today. He also told her DH that everytime he looks at her he should thank GOD for the MIRACLE. He also told him that he did not ever expect her to wake up from surgery and the ONLY reason he did the surgery was to just say that they did everything that they could to save her. She is talking and ding a lot of sleeping still, but some of that is from the pain medicine that she is on for her throat (breathing tube related). They will still monitor her like she was in ICU---they do not want a lot of people visiting her yet--they want her more awake before her kids come to visit. Please keep praying--and thanks for your contiued prayers.

The kids are on FALL BREAK which we have never had before. And wouldn't you know that our satelite decided to go bad last night. One of the switched went out and the company can't omeout until Saturday. We could call a local place but we would have to pay their fee plus the cost of the part which is about 200. If we wait until Saturday when they can send someone it is coevers under our service plan--we pay only 29 and they replace everything that is wrong. The kids aren't to happy about it. They will go back to school on Tuesday. The weather here is great--cool but not cold.

We are having trouble clothing Rebekah---she is so skinny that everything falls off her. Even the 1 piece outfits hang off her---the neck looks like two babies could fit there. She weighs 7.5 but is long and skinny--DH is afraid he will break her and he never felt that way about the others. She is nursing all the time so hopefully she will fill out a little. Well that is enough rambling. Hope that everyone has a great day.

Madelyn had to wear premie outfits, but for 2 weeks. Such a waste once they start to grow and fill out. She's now filling out the 0-3 month outfits and I found an outfit to put her in this am that's 3-6 months. It's so cold here now that I have to find warmer outfits to put her in.

She had me up all night, the little peepachoo. I'm tired!

Now she's practically slept the whole morning. Yawn!

Just stoping in to saw hi. It's snack time!

My twins were only 5lbs when they were born and didn't fit in anything! All those clothes that looked so tiny when we bought them, were HUGE on them! Don't worry, she'll be growing out of the 0-3mos before you know it!!

I am involved in a challenge with my exercise group at church...100 crunches everyday until Nov 10th. If you don't do it, you put in $1 for each day not done. The one who loses the most inches by the end, wins the money. The goal is to have nothing in the jar, but you never know!

Kat - I doubt that anything they sell at the fair is really worth the calories. Resist!

Punkin - We saw the last part of the show about Brookhaven. It was amazing to see and really disappointing that more of the participants weren't making progress. I suppose it's really hard if you have a severe food addiction. Makes me thankful any of my problems aren't that severe.

Danielle - More pixie dust for DB. And some for you and that cold you're trying not to catch!

Melinda - It's much colder here today as well. High expected around 64 which I think was the temperature yesterday morning when I drove the little one to preschool!

MJMouse - Good job resisting temptation! That's inspiring

Dance - Good luck today. I hope things go well for both of you today.

Pigget - Great news on Christi! That's a great story and so inspirational!

Mony - Don't they grow fast? I can't believe how much my girls grow all the time esp. when the seasons change and they need MORE new clothes!

Hope everyone has a great day!

My 10 y/o was less than 2 lbs at birth and nearing 5 lbs when we brought her home so I understand. Thankfully I had a SIL at the time that was quite a seamstress. She made Clare dresses from doll patterns. They were so cute!

The crunch challenge sounds like a great idea. I love a little monetary motivation!

Hi All...

This is my first time posting, but I've been lurking on this thread for about 3 weeks. :scared1: I've been using that time to read through the 1300+ pages here popcorn:: :surfweb: (no, I didn't read EVERY page... but I read quite a lot)

Anyway, you guys seem like such a great bunch, and I'm in desperate need of some motivation to be healthier. (I'm trying NOT to make my goal to just lose weight... I want to be healthy overall.) :thumbsup2

I will post a "proper" introduction later, so as to give you guys a little background info. But for now, I just wanted to say...

Can I play too??? :flower3:

Welcome, welcome. I'm Faith and I'm pretty new here too (just a few weeks). Everyone on here is great and this thread has become the highlight of my day. I'm trying to be healthier too. I'm also losing weight, which I needed, but my primary goal is to reprogram myself to enjoy exercise and a healthier eating style. These peeps make it easier to stay focused and they are so nice:love:

SINGINGMUA : Greetings! Welcome to peepville! I hear you on the getting healthier. I used to be on the South Beach diet, and before that it was the Atkins diet. While they both worked, it seemed as soon as I tried to eat "normal" food again, the weight came back.....with friends! Now I try to focus on "good for me" foods. I'm pretty new here to, just a 2 or 3 months. But I gotta tell you, this can be addicting! :surfweb: Anyhow, WELCOME!!!!!!!

Hello DISappearing Peeps!

I'm new here too (thanks to Gina a.k.a. MA pigletfan  ).

As you can tell from my "Please Lord I want to wear skinny clothes" ticker, I am also on the weight loss wagon. And although I sometimes fall off...or, ok, voluntarily jump off said wagon and run screaming, arms flailing into the nearest Dunkin' Donuts for a chocolate creme donut, I always somehow find my way back.

But who doesn't need a cheering section? Or want to be someone else's cheering section? So here I am. :cheer2:

I hope to be able to post here frequently - to share and congratulate the losses (of the pound/inch variety, of course), encourage others who somehow wandered out of sight of the wagon, make new friends, provide prayers and pixie dust and, if nothing else, obsess about Disney.

Some quick background so you know a lil' bit about me (references furnished upon request LOL) and then I promise to hand the mike over to the next Peep in line.

"Hi, I'm Nikki and I love to eat. :hyper: And I don't like the gym. :ssst: And apparently someone in Disney didn't get the memo because I'm supposed to be living in Cinderella's Castle." :snooty:

I'm 28 (although I prefer 21...eight times over), am 5' 4.5" tall and currently weigh in at 196.0lbs. My goal weight is 145lbs. When I started this most recent bout of weight loss, I was at 202.6lbs, a number I had previously promised myself to never see on the scale again. Having broken that promise, I realized that it was high time to pull the wagon out of the barn, get back on and look for some people to ride along with me.

At my heaviest I was around the 240-245lb mark. That was about 5 years ago. I was 'pre-diabetic', in horrible foot/back pain, tired all the time and worst of all, horribly depressed. I've lost 50ish lbs. since then. I did WW for a long time and still incorporate it, kind of, in what I do now.

My motivation is, well, mostly my health. I want to be around for a loooong time (= a lot more trips to the World)! I also want to fall in love with my outside, they way I've fallen in love with my inside (and believe me, that was harder than ANY of the weight loss)! And really...well...I want to be able to shop ANYWHERE. (I'm a shopaholic. This is a big one for me.)

I live with my BF who, of course is the type who looks at a large pizza with extra cheese and pepparoni and LOSES 5lbs. ::yes:: But seriously, he's in great shape and is wonderful motivation. I don't have any kids, just the most beautiful godson on the planet who will be thoroughly spoiled with Disney trips. I have two kitties, Isabel and Dory, whom the BF has 'adopted' as his own.

And finally, here are the basics of what I'm doing this time around in terms of weight loss:

*I try to eat 3 'main' meals a day and 2 snacks or 'mini-meals' inbetween. I also try to get most of my carbs in before 2 p.m. I eat a lot of lean proteins and ::ahem:: really, really try to limit the 'bad' stuff. We eat healthy Mon.-Sat. and Sunday is our cheat day. As of late I've been going off the wall on cheat days, so one of my goals is to really reign this in and be sensible.
*I go to the gym 3 days a week and do about an hour of weight training and 30-40 min. of cardio each session. I work in Boston, an hour and a half from where I live, so it's tough for me to get more in than that. Walking on lunch isn't always an option either, especially with the lovely NE winter approaching.
*I'm keeping a food/weight loss journal. I just read a great article is Shape magazine that stressed weighing yourself every day. It says that it keeps you present to your goals and gives you an idea of the 'patterns' in your body. I'd always heard the opposite (only weigh in once a week) but I found that that never worked for me, so I'm giving this a shot.

Thanks for listening/reading. Glad to be on board the healthy train...er...wagon.

Prayers and Pixie Dust for all who've asked it. (Sorry, there's no way I'll get through 1,300+ pages!!)

:flower3:

LEXMELINDA : Hello! In the Avatar that is Pinnochio and his ........ummm good fairy? Fairy godmother? Gosh, it's been so long since I have seen the movie (decades maybe) I really can't remember. But it was on that cool avatar web site you posted. Thanks for the new bling! :cool2: All dressed up now, still no place to go..........oh well, I'm glad the weekend is almost here! O.K., I guess I'm a little o.c.d., I went and looked in my son's room for the book, and it is the BLUE Fairy with Pinnochio in my avatar. I NEVER would have remembered that, if I even knew it. :goodvibes

YAY! So glad you found us here! :) I think you will really enjoy it.
Just a couple of things....we do "weigh ins" on Friday and just usually post what we lost, gained, stayed the same...then the Thread Momma Wendy aka Utahmomma adds up our totals for the week. Its great to have just ONE day when you are accountable for weighing yourself, i know that when i used to weigh myself every day i would go crazy!
Other than that, post often, check in even if you answered teh call of the chocolate kreme donuts ( i hear that call sometimes myself)...and have fun! :)

I hope you both find all the support and motivation you'll need to reach your goals.

Thanks so much!

Good to know about the weekly weigh-ins. So far I have found the personal daily weigh-in to be a big motivation, even on the days that don't have a negative number. BUT, weighing in each week here will be a huge help. Adds a bit of accountability to the whole thing when you're talking to others about it.

Oh, and... ...Hi UtahMama! I'm a big fan of your DW trippie. I'm going to get myself over to your new one.

Hope everyone is having a great day!

FYI- If you turn back to page 94 we started with pics of ourselves and creating bio's. I read through them and it totally remotivated me.

You may want to take a looksy.

TINK-ING : Welcome! I can't seem to "quote" yet, but I wanted to add to what you said about cheat days. Sunday is my cheat day to. I used to feel like I had to eat all day long, of all my favorite junk foods to get it out of my system. I mean, I was doing good dieting all week long, this was my ONLY day to eat good food, right? Weeeell, I added up one of my cheat days out of curiosty one day, (on calorieking.com) and I had ........big fat drumroll please...........3,894 calories in ONE day. How you ask? (or, uh maybe you didn't....but I'll tell ya anyway;) ) Well, 3 krispy kreme doughnuts, 3 pieces of pizza, breadsticks, box of mac-n-cheese, small bag of chex mix, (p-nut butter flavored, anyone tried that? good stuff) and Oreos and Raisenets. I didn't remember all of that, it was a couple of months ago, but when I looked everything up on calorieking, I printed that sucker out and taped it on the wall right by my computer screen. That was a shameful day. :guilty: Now on my cheat days, I cheat, but I don't CHEAT , if you can follow that. Anyway, I'm learning. When I make a mistake, learn from it and to not let it just cave in all of the positive things I (occasionally) do. So, anyway, I'm kind of rambling, but what I'm getting to is WELCOME!

Welcome to the new Peeps! :cheer2: So glad to have you here! The more, the merrier, they say. You'll love it here. It's a place to share joy, frustration, triumphs, tribulations, prayer requests, pixie dust, tips, support, encouragement, and laughs! (Among other things) :welcome:

Do most of you weigh every day? I weigh every day but it's because I have OCD. I have thought about locking the scale in a cabinet somewhere and only taking it out once a week because I'm obsessed with it. I get on it every time I walk by it. Like my weight is going to change in the 20 minutes since the last time I weighed!!!!

Also, does everyone have cheat days? I have only cheated on one thing in 7 weeks and that was one homemade blueberry muffin. Should I be including a cheat day? My problem is that I'm afraid I would go nuts. Cheat with one piece of pizza? Yeah, right, I would eat the entire thing and wash it down with a coke or a margarita or something like that and then want dessert. I guess I just don't know how to cheat properly:dance3:
