Punkin -- How scary!!! I'm so glad that Eli is okay! Last year when I took Mags for her yearly visit to the *V*E*T* (must be spelled because she doesn't like that word), her vet told me that they are finding that heartworm preventatives are not 100% effective. Thus, it is now suggested that you have them tested every two years. A friend of mine had her chiuaua on a preventative and he still got it. So scary!



Let us know how he's doing! I hope that it's nothing too serious...

If my laptop can mangage to be on for more than three minutes this weekend, I'll be around. No Disney trips for me for a while -- must plan one soon though!

a tummy belt is what you wear on your abs so that you sweat alot and it helps to hold everything in i have had 4 c-sections and hysterectomy surgery so this helps alot but at the end of the night when i take it off it is so wet i guess i sweat alot .......here is what mine looks like

Thank you for all your kind words, wishes and most of all ! Shadow is going to be fine. She had an impacted anal gland that abscessed (sp?). I won't go into details, but suffice it to say, that I am glad I AM NOT THE DR.!!!! The funny thing is is that I go to church with my vet! So now every time he sees me he will probably think about what he had to do for my puppy!

He is a great guy, and I paid him plenty today, so that should smooth it over! When I adopted Shadow, he was having a pool installed in his backyard. I wonder what fun thing he will get now! I am so thankful that I have him though. He is a great V*E*T!!!! I spelled that out in case any of your fur babies were sitting in your lap while you were reading this.

She will take some antibiotics and pain medication, and she should be fine! Thanks again for your concern about my puppy.

For those that are going in the next few days, HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!!!!!

Shadow is doing well tonight thanks to her pain medication. She is VERY relaxed. The Dr. really STRESSED that I give her the pain medication. He said that even though she was sedated, she still flinched when he was flushing out her gland. Thank goodness for pain medication!

Yes the one in Mexico is hysterical!

Remember when I mentioned I wasn't feeling well? Well it got worse. I ended up staying home from work yesterday and today as well. Typically when I'm just getting a cold, I'm achy the first day but then ok to head back into normal life. Well it is the end of day 2 (really day 3 because it started monday) and I'm still achy and exhausted. Stuffy nose, sore throat which gets worse everytime I cough, which then hurts my chest. And I've taken my temp 3 times because I feel and act like I have a fever - chills one minute then after I take meds, I'm sweaty and hot. Then back to the chills, etc. But no fever. I definitely have to go to work tomorrow though. I feel so bad for having to cancel clients, mainly the new patient evaluations, but I was like a zombie. I think tomorrow should be a "lighter" day for me. Hopefully. Please send some PD that I feel better soon.

For everyone leaving in the next couple days...have a great time and take lots of pictures for us!

Here is what I got for DD - - its called Rescue Remedy...

If you google rescue remedy - you will see the ingredients (flowers mostly) and how they effect you - to calm you... if you do you will see lots of opinions on how it has helped calm pets!! cool!! We bought dd the candy - Rescue Remedy Pastille - and she feels so calm - she says it made a huge difference, she had homework that she was supposed to work on all week - but she isnt freaking out - and "can I have one more before bed?" well of course!! The tincture is 4 drops and one reviewer said it knocked her out - like she couldnt believe!! Her doctor said it was because it is 27% alcohol - but dd is alcohol free - it has beeswax...

I'm just so relieved we may have struck gold... wanted to pass it along tho to peep pets... it may help with those... V*E*T* visits... I found it at the Health food center, GNC didnt carry it...

I'm so glad when I'm behind, because so much gets resolved. I thought, "I bet it's an impacted anal gland!", and then, it turned out I was right (Oh, and btw, great topic for a weight loss thread! I sure don't feel like eating when I think about it. ) I was going to pm Sandy on how to post her boo on a Mac, and then I saw that she had switched to a Compaq. Heather, I hope your leg is OK.
I don't know what got into me tonight. I had a Safeway Eating Right dinner, 300 calories, and then decided to supplement it with a hunk of cheese and some tortilla chips (DD was having nachos). Kind of defeats the purpose of a 300 calorie dinner, doesn't it? Oh well, I got on the bike afterwards, so let's hope that burns off the extras.
I'm ready to run amok with the rest of all you stay-at-homers (I used the spell-checker, and amok is right, believe it or not). We're having real fall weather today, high winds and temps in the 50's and 60's.
Finally, it's not midnight here yet, so I can end on a note: sleep well, me hearties.

I'm so glad that the pup is okay!! That is the very reason I haven't tried to groom my pup at home. I so do not want to have to do certain tasks.... BTW -- thanks for spelling "that" word. She hasn't learned to read yet (as far as I know), but you can never be too carefull...

Wonders -- Feel better!! I'm a wee bit stuffy myself this morning. I'm trying to ignore it, but I do believe that I got "infected" last weekend by my friends kids...

Safe travels to all the traveling peeps out there! Enjoy your vacations and each others company. Think about us poor saps back at home working.

yay!! i am so happy to hear that. Chief knows Shadow's pain! Poor guy had to have his anal gland drained a month ago..oh he LOVED us for that

AHhA! That is a good idea. I had a "c section" type of operation a few years ago, except the doctor had to cut me right up the middle of my lower abs, and nothing has ever looked right since, esp. with the extra weight. this might not be a bad idea..do you wear it all day? Is it super noticeable through clothes??

Almost could not get dd off to school this morning - dh was supposed to take her (on HIS way to work ) Yet, dd wanted to curl her hair - 3 MIN BEFORE take off for school - dh yelled (in his best normal dad voice) "dd lets go, I'm ready" DD threw a fit slammed her bedroom door and said I'm not going to school, you cant make me, I look horrible"

I get out of bed (I was hoping to take a nap and avoid the drama of most mornings that I thought *I* created) cajole her out of her room, hug her, and get her off to school - ten min late, but it is done!!

So much work to do!!! I found that dd has about 2 green shirts, one is almost lime green!!

thanks for the link! i just forwarded it to DH to see if he wants to buy some for sherman. we don't have trouble with the V-E-T, just with thunderstorms and fireworks. oh, and also if the electricity goes out or if the fire alarm battery beeps. i guess sherman associates those two things with storms and he starts freaking out, shaking, hiding. so sad!

Thanks for the get well wishes. I actually made an appt with the Dr for today. I think I may need an antibiotic or something. Regular colds don't knock me out like this. I talked to my boss and she told me to stay home. I feel SOOOO guilty because they have to keep rescheduling evaluations and cancelling my clients, but I don't think the mommys would want me coughing up a lung on their kids. I'm sure they understand. The ladies that work in the office are kind of annoying though. They get all bent out of shape when they have to call a client, when it is their job to do that.

Anyway, congrats on the bling! And ditto on the safe travels for all the Peeps out there!
