Kat - I find the cookies are hard to resist. I normally can skip cookies (Oreo and Chips Ahoy are fav's in our house) but the homemade cookies, yummy. I use photobucket too.

Pakey Yeah for the one year anniversary  Yeah that you only have 18 more days until WDW. I am start to plan our Nov 2009 trip in my head. The only thing I have decided (which took a lot of time) was we are staying at POR. See we've stayed here before, as a family of 4. Now we are a family of 5 plus my mom is going with us. So I think we are doing a adjoining rooms, thanks to Gayle:thumbsup2 .

Monica I'm joining / jumping in too but I am not starting until Jan 2nd. My goal for 2008 is to lose at least 80 lb. I have a lot more than that to lose at least 150 lb total but start little right. As soon as the kids go back to school next Wednesday, off to the gym. I have to pay for daycare at the gym and one kid is better than 3 (I know bad excuse).

punkin413 Yeah for the spa day. Hope you have a lot of relaxation and fun.

born2bird Hope you Christmas was Merry too. When my coffee is done, my water jug will be starting to fill as well.

lexmelinda Hi there. I feel a lot bloated and when I saw a picture of myself (we take family photos every year at DH aunt's house) I wanted to puke. It actually disgusted me to see myself.

WI_DisneyFan My goal for Valentine's would be at least 10 lb. There I said it and it will be written down. Have fun on your trip.

I forgot who said there child puked on the table at a restaurant, oh well things happen right? Have a good day everyone.

Laura :flower3:

I don't know the last time I was here! :confused3 Seems like it has been forever!!!

Aaron..I'm with you...the Christmas challenge never happened!!! I don't think I was even clost to reaching m goal!!! :sad1: Valentine's Da sounds good to me!!!

Dawn...Enjoy our spa day! Sounds like fun! :woohoo:

Christmas was laid back here...went to DD's for dinner. I have been sick with a head cold, so not feeling that great. I think I am finally over the worst of it! We are leaving Sat morning to go to Albany for New Years with m sister. I'll try to check in while there.

UM...I checked out that thread and it is quite funny! I'll have to add a story of my own!!!

I have not posted on this thread in FOREVER!!! I should have posted and weighed myself more often..I gained 10 Pounds! :scared1: since my first post way back when!!! anyway i finally got on the scale this morning and I HAVE HAD IT!!!! I dont know why i let myself go there really is no excuse for it!

I joined weight watchers online today so I guess its a start.Im trying not to beat myself up that much over it, just trying to look forward. Count me in on the friday weigh ins. Weekly weigh ins def work, im a perfect example of how when you dont weigh yourself once a week the weight just comes right back on.

So my goal is to lose 25 pounds by my Disney trip on May 14th..and 30 pounds by my wedding September 27, 2008.

:welcome: back!

We all from time to time fall off.

Some of us are recommitting ourselves Jan 1 or 2 so its all good!

I know one thing, I can't do this without the wonderful people I have met here.

There is so much love and support here. I thank each and every one of you for your kind words, hugs, support, and just being there to listen.

Welcome back!!!

Monica, I am with you... if it weren't for this thread there is no way I would have gotten this far. Still a long way to go but I know I can do it as long as I stay accountable.

How did I miss all of these posts???????

We'll miss ya WIDF...and I'm sure most of us will be more than happy to
wipe the Christmas Challenge '07 out of our memories forever.

I'm deciding which lower carb/lean protein diet I'm starting (today?)

South Beach I know and love. Has any one ever heard of Kimkins? Like Atkins only lean and healthier.

I haven't had breakfast yet so I can't stand this bloated feeling another day...so I'll kick start my New Year today :yay:

Suddenly I'm more motivated than I have been in months!

hello...tread mill! How you doin'?

I'm sticking with South Beach. I have my fake crystal lite and my water right next to me. Was that your Joey Tribiani voice? I'm about to dust my tread mill off too.

Oh, and as for the Christmas challenge? How about we forget that ever happened, ok? But I'd be all for starting something new. Any ideas? Valentines Day? (I was planning on challenging myself for my birthday, which is 3 days before Valentines Day. And since not everyone celebrates my birthday, I figured Valentines Day would be the next best thing.)

Sounds good. My vote is Valentines day. We don't celebrate it anyways so there SHOULDN'T be any temptations around.

It's not a bad excuse, it's logical. I would love to lose 80 pounds. I need to lose 60, and the last 20 would probably be my struggle. But I'm telling you this cause the first 60-80 we can do together.

I don't know the last time I was here! :confused3 Seems like it has been forever!!!

I hope you are feeling better Gayle.

Welcome Back on the Wagon!

Sounds like a lot of us are in the same boat today...I know I am!

Ok, I've been GUNG HO for 5 hours! So far so good! Pityful I have to take it one hour at a time, but :confused3

What Christmas Challenge?????? ;)

I'm with you guys! Although, I think I will make my start date Jan. 14th. That will be after mine and DD's Disney trip. I will be committed. I've done pretty good through the holidays, but my dad has been taking me out to breakfast, and mexican last night, and breakfast again this morning, so I am a little skeered of the scale right now. :rolleyes1 He'll be leaving this afternoon, so I WILL be good after that.

BTW, how do you know the difference between a cold and allergies? I have been sneezing off and on since Friday. My nose is running, and it is clear. I don't have time to get sick. DD and I leave two weeks from yesterday for Disney. We run our 5K on Jan. 11th. We HAVE to be healthy for this. Please help me Peeps!

Hey peepers. I did my pre-weigh in today to prepare myself for the real weigh in tomorrow and I'm up 5 lbs. And no it's not water weight and no it's not the other thing cuz chemo took care of having those cycles anymore. So I guess that only leaves overeating as the cause. I thought I was being pretty good and just cheating a little but when I look back, I know that I was doing a little cheating about every 2 hours. So this morning I got to work and cleaned all of those little snicker bars out of my desk drawer and put it out in the community candy dish. My dogs got up in the middle of the night and helped themselves to the carrot cake that was on the counter so I don't have to worry about that anymore. That just leaves the 9lbs of Sees candy in the pantry--I think I'll have DH take it to his business and eat it there.

The most depressing thing is that I leave for WDW in 17 days now and you know I can't watch the weight there.

You guys do have to check out the Most Embarrassing thread. UM has the funniest post. Wendy, I laughed so hard I choked and then ran out and shared the story with DH. I even put my foot up on the kitchen counter to give him a visual demonstration. Now you are famous even with non-dissers.

My life is so much better with you guys in it.

Aaron, I'm in for a Valentines challenge. Maybe that will help me at least hang onto the wagon while at WDW.

I'm a chronic allergy sufferer and it's pretty hard to tell the difference between a cold and allergies. For me, I can usually tell if my eyes are watery, burning or itching. I've had every prescription medication known to mankind but I usually find plain old Benadryl helps the most. I also use a Neti Pot to do a saline sinus rinse (if it's allergies it helps to rinse the irritants out of you) which has helped a great deal but I doubt it would do much for you this close to the marathon.

I'm sending pixie dust that you feel up for the marathon.

Help!!!! I've become a marshmellow peep!! Seriously!

I quit my jazzercise membership in september because I hadn't used it in months and I hated paying for something I didn't use. Well now I NEED to do something! I have absolutely no willpower, so walking by myself just won't happen. I need to either rejoin jazzercise or a gym. But now that I feel so fat and icky I really don't want to be seen in public excercising. It would be distracting to everyone else in the room!:)

So here I sit on my couch with a horrible cold thinking I have to do something. If only I could stand up without feeling dizzy!

Trust me I know how it feels!!! Once your cold is over ...try turbo jam or firm dvd workouts until you feel ready to go back to a gym. I did my first turbo jam workout in a long time this morning and I forgot how great these workouts are when you cant or dont feel like going to the gym...

thanks to everyone else for welcoming me back

What Christmas Challenge?????? ;)

When I read this I pictured the boats in IASW bottoming out and Disney having to dig a deeper canal!:scared1:

Pakey - See's candy got me. I was embarrassed when DH wondered where all the candy went. DS is vegan, so none for him. DD is picky so maybe one or two. All the rest? I think you all can guess. We put one of the boxes out on Christmas day, and that disappeared pretty quickly. But I think I ate most of a lb. myself. The biggest challenge in my house is the half a pecan pie that's left. Plus, DH and I are going away for our anniversary, so lots of going out to eat. It's Monterey, so I'll try to eat some of that good Salinas salad and Pacific seafood (none from SF, though).

Thanks for the suggestions!! I will make a photobucket account tomorrow and start transferring while the office is nice and quiet. :rolleyes1

Can I recommit too?!? I really want to be at my under 150 goal sometime in 2008. I haven't seen under 170 since, oh, probably 2003, and I really would like to see it again. I am 10 lbs from that goal (well, I was on Friday, but I am sure that isn't going to be the case this Friday!). I would love to see that before we go to WDW at the end of Jan!

I think my true start date will be Jan 2nd. I am trying to stay pretty good until Sat/Sun, but I know that our Sun family Christmas celebration + New Year's Eve... yeah, staying good likely isn't an option!!
you sound so much like me..i think the last time i saw under 170 was before my operation in 2004..so its been awhile...and i am SOO ready to see under that..heck i would love to be at that number right now..but i am still a few away..oh well..new year new start!

tomorrow is spa day!!! :goodvibes we're meeting at the spa at 11:00, working out (probably a yoga class), relaxing in the jacuzzi, lunch, massage at 2:00 (50 minutes....:cloud9: ), shower, then tea at 4:00. i can't wait!

ray got about halfway finished with the bathroom floor before he gave up for the night. he was picking up speed as he went though. hopefully we'll (read: he'll) finish it tomorrow night.
Spa day....fun fun fun!!!
Just a quick fly-bye to say hi! (Wow, that rhymes!)

I hope everyone had a great Christmas holiday. I'm actually glad to be back at work so I can relax! And of course there is a lot less food here.

Speaking of that, I won't be around tomorrow to weigh-in, which based on my pre-weigh in this morning that is probably a good thing. My brother-in-law is getting married this weekend in a town about 2 hours from here; my wife is one of the bride's maids and I'm an usher. It is the most unorganized wedding ever. But that's what you get when you try to plan a big formal wedding in 6 months. It took us a year and a half, and we were still scrambling at the last minute! Anyway, we'll be heading out tonight and I won't be near a computer until sometime Sunday night. So hopefully my number next week will be a little better than what I saw this morning.

Oh, and as for the Christmas challenge? How about we forget that ever happened, ok? But I'd be all for starting something new. Any ideas? Valentines Day? I am in if we do a V. Day challenge...a month and a half is enough to lose the 5 lbs that i thought i would lose in that unGodly Christmas challenge ;)

Danielle--I wondered if the See's demons were at your house. Us left coasters have it so much harder with that stuff. I still have 8 boxes unwrapped of it in my pantry in addition to the open stuff. The last box that walked into our house, I almost broke into tears of frustration. I started out I was just going to eat my very favorite one out of the box but after I had that one, it tasted so good so why stop? I was even eating the pieces that I'm not crazy about. DH loves it too but has self control, eats one piece a day and is satisified. I know he has noticed how many of those little wrappers are missing but he has kept it to himself. If the boxes stay wrapped, I'm okay but once that paper comes off, my fingers start itching.

On the pecan pie, I can be of no help unless you want to set it on my kitchen counter and let my sweet little dogs do a midnight stealth mission to eat it. I love pecan pie and would be hard pressed to resist, even after being stuffed full of See's.

I've had some great great salads in Monterey so I hope you can stick to em. It's just so hard on vacation to have to stress over the food and it's a bad time to have to do the self-control thing. So if you mess up, we'll be here when you get back to tell you it's okay.

Thanks, Pakey. I saw a car the other day. The license plate said Paskey, and they had a DL 50 years trailer knob. I thought of you. Just off by one letter.

Forgot to say I posted on the embarrassing thread. Love that thread!

Dawn - How was your spa day? We expect a mini TR ya' know. :rolleyes1 Hope you and Anna had a wonderful day!

Dawn, here is a square footage calculator.

http://www.sayplanning.com/ownmyhome/home_building/sf/calc_footage.html

Good luck with the renovations! We want to start on our bathroom next month. Fun times...:scared:

thank you!!!!

Is the bathroom a normal rectangle? Or is it really odd shaped? If it is rectangle, then you just multiply the length of the room by the width of the room. Then you could probably measure the length/width of the sinks and anything else that juts out in the floor to get the square footage of those objects and subtract them from the total square footage of the room.

it's an odd shape. so it's kinda hard to figure out. ray's done with everything but the tiny room with the toilet in it, which will be the hardest part. thanks for the info.....we're doing the guest bathroom next to i can apply this knowledge then!

by the way, put me down for the valentine's challenge. my goal is 130 pounds. i will have to let you know how far away i am from that after i weight myself tomorrow morning. i'm NOT weighing myself tonight because i always weigh less first thing in the morning!

I have not posted on this thread in FOREVER!!!

welcome back!!!! congrats on joining WW! :thumbsup2

someone else already suggested at-home exercise videos. also, do you have a place to walk in your neighborhood or a nearby park? i HATE running, so i mix it with walking (3 minutes walking, 3 minutes running) and that's done wonders for me.

Dawn - How was your spa day? We expect a mini TR ya' know. :rolleyes1 Hope you and Anna had a wonderful day!

IT WAS WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!! :cloud9: i will definitely do a mini TR and post it in my pre-TR and post the link here for you. we took lots of pics (of course - anna's WAY worse than i am about pictures, believe it not!)......mostly REALLY goofy ones! this was the first time i've sat in a steam room and.....holy crap.....that is not an easy thing to do! i couldn't breathe at all. then the steam would stop and we were supposed to put a cold rag with ice in it on our face to cool down, then more steam and so on. my body was like WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO ME????? but my skin felt soooooooo good afterwards.

the funniest part was that anna forgot her swimsuit so she had to buy a disposable one from the spa gift shop. it was made of plastic and looked like a 50's style one piece with the very low cut legs. and they only had a large (14-16) and most of you have seen pics of anna.....she's like a size 4! so it was HANGING off her. every time she'd get out of the pool or the jacuzzi, she'd have about a gallon of water coming out of her bathing suit.....she looked like a little kid peeing!!! :lmao: i got a great picture (as if you couldn't picture that in your mind!)

we also got to catch up with a good friend of ours who was in town for christmas. she's in boston swimming with whales (literally) and we haven't seen her in about a year-and-a-half. she spent the day at the spa with us. as soon as anna sends me the pics i'll get them uploaded and let you know!

hope you guys had a good thursday. i'm off to try to get some work done.....for once this week! have a good night! :goodvibes

Hi all~

Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas. It was kinda quiet at my house after all the gifts were opened. The kids got a lot of video games and movies. I gave tehm a few things for our trip in May just to keep them focused and excited.

I've been so busy with life, I don't get to pop in here as much as I used to. It really sucks that 10 hours of my day are taken up by work. I can't DIS at work because we're not allowed to use the internet, not even on our lunch break.

I saw a few posts that listed Jan 1 or 2 as a recommit date for all of us still struggling. Don't write off the last few days of the year though! Use that time to make a plan. Check your cupboards and pantries for all the unhealthy things you've allowed into your home. Get them out of your house. Plan healthy meals and snacks and go shopping. Make a menu in advance and have a list of what you need. Write down your exercise goals and how you are going to achieve them. And above all else, share them with us!! Not only will it help keep you motivated and acountable, you may inspire someone else.

As much as I'd love to stay and catch up some more, I have 2 sick kitties that need me.

MouseHouseLover- I am getting a little head start before the 1/1/08 recommital.

I just now dumped a slice of Cheesecake Factory cheese cake down the drain! I just did it as fast as I could so I wouldn't eat it!!!!!! I imagined it being the same white goop that Dr. Oz squoze out of the arteries on Oprah...it worked!

Feeling mildly triumphant
