DISappearing Peeps...A fastpass to THIN! Part 2

I really need some support because the weight just isn't coming off on my own!:grouphug:

What's worked for me in the past is South Beach Diet...3 years ago, I lost about 16 lbs., which brought me to a size 14. Not great, but when you've been straining at your 16s, it felt wonderful! Little by little, but esp. in the past year (which has had multiple stresses inc. 2 family deaths), it's come back on and maybe even a couple pounds more. My 16s are feeling snug again.

The thing I still have a problem with mentally is that I was always a thin, thin child and teenager. Until my late 20s, I was still a size 8-10, which actually was better for me than when I'd--unbelievably!--looked too thin as a 4-6. When I hit 30, a few extra pounds came on each year and I didn't really mind because I thought I'd lose them easily. Seeing myself as a "skinny" person, I just didn't take it seriously. Then, along came DS and a move from the Northeast (Philadelphia) to the South (Kentucky) where DH has loads of extended family---meaning family gatherings around lotsa food---often! I was shocked when I passed 160 lbs. and now would love to be there (about 16 pounds away). Once I reach THAT goal, I'd like to try to be a size 10-12 again. I'd be totally comfortable with that.

Two days ago, I thought I'd try SB again. Yet, I had a couple of minor cheats (2 tortilla chips and, my weakness, about 15 dark chocolate chocolate chips.) Today, I found my self falling off the wagon about 4-5 times (inc. way too many almonds, I guess since they're an "allowed" food!). I've come to the realization that Phase One MEANS Phase One with no cheats.

We've got a WDW trip coming up in May and I'd really, really like to lose at least 15 lbs. by then. Dare I admit we're trying the DP for the first time, but hope that I'll be able to not gain too much there and get back to work once we 're home again.

So glad this thread was started!!!:goodvibes

On your cruise, did you do any of the shore excusions? There are lots I like in Key West and a couple at Grand Cayman but I refuse to swim with Sting Rays and that seems to be the majority of them. I see a couple excursions are already sold out so I went to sign up soon.

Thanks to everyone for their :grouphug: and pixiedust:, but I'm gonna need more...

DH is writhing in agony and cannot get out of bed to get to the doctor. I'm leaving work now and have to go home to call an ambulance. Of course I don't want him to be in pain and am worried about him, but I'm also worried about our trip this Saturday - is that horrible? Is there any chance we are still going to get to Disney World?

I'll keep you all updated - so glad I found some new friends with  and :grouphug:

Keep praying for us!

Prayers to yor DH!!Hope to hear something soon...

Hi All,
May I join? I found out about you from reading (what else!) the food reviews.
I have 8 weeks and 3 days before I leave for DW. I need to loose 30 lbs., but will try to drop 12. I plan to walk 5 days a week and cut out most sugar, unbleached flour, junk food.
My 17 year old son came home this afternoon with 3 friends. Instead of making my chicken breasts, I let them order pizza. Of course, I ate 2 slices.
I did well yesterday, but today :sad2:
Ladies, I need your help. I don't want to gross people out at the pool. Not to mention my pants biting me on the long plane ride:sad2:

Okay..... so I got my flaxseed. I could not find the flaxseed oil though. What do I do with it? I read add to oatmeal. I am nervous. Is it going to make me have to be in the bathroom a lot? I drive to work right after I eat and I dont want to be in traffic if it hits. I just had gallbladder surgery last month and I am in there enough already. Thankss

Where abouts in Texas? I live near Fort Worth.

No particular order:
1. Hummus with veggies and/or a pita that I cut up and bake into chips.
2. Cheese (precut into portions) and/or boiled eggs I keep in the fridge.
3. Vanilla Dannon Carb Control Yogurt with a few pecans sprinkled on top.
4. Fruits/veggies I've got prewashed/precut.
5. Pink Lady apple with a little peanut butter.

:
I never thought to make my own pita chips.Great idea.
What is a Pink lady apple? Never heard of that.
Boiled eggs is another good idea I had not thought of

Wow, you are blessed to have your husband that will cook dinner, and from a recipe journal !!! My husband can/will cook eggs, grilled steak, and boil seafood. That's it !! Your husband sounds like a gem.

What a beautiful family Jo! Good night! We'll try to slow things down whilst :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: you slumber!

Oh how I love this place every one is so complimentary, Brits just don't do that so a big :grouphug: and thankyou.

Helpful kitchen chemistry lesson for the day... if you are ever having massive heartburn and no OTC meds, get a spoonful of BAKING SODA and mix it with a little water and drink it. The baking soda/stomach acid reaction is very similar to the baking soda/vinegar reaction so be prepared to BURP. Additionally, this type of chemical reaction is endothermic (feels cold to the touch) so it will also have a slight cooling effect.

If on old movies you ever hear someone referring to a "bicarb"... this is what they are talking about... bicarbonate of soda = baking soda.

I did mention I'm a high school science teacher, right? :teacher:

Ohhhh, I love Ro-Tel... I'll try that! I've also been spicing my food up to keep things from being bland or boring... don't miss the fat if I'm noticing the fire. :yay:

The Prime Meridian is in Greenwich. That is where all time starts. Everyone's time zone is based on how far it is away from the Prime Meridian.

DH is really into time, can you tell? :rotfl: If we decide to go, would you be able to give me some pointers? It was so hard to pick out hotels, when you don't know which part of town to stay in. The room descriptions are very different than over here. :sad2: We wanted a suite, where the kids had their own room, and I never could find that over there. :confused3 So we ended up at Disney! Not a bad trade off. :cool1:

Oh I forgot to say :welcome: to our party:

WOW - I have to tell you its hard not hitting the Quote button on all y'all, I actually feel like I'm talking to you when I read.... so when I see one post, I say, hey, my dh cooks too, and for 25 years he's been the soul kitchen cleaner upper - he loves to bake bread, oh... well... and then, "OH Amy came back".... etc... :goodvibes It does give one a warm fuzzy feeling...

WELCOME - WELCOME - WELCOME -
Take what you need, and leave lots of :grouphug: and encouragement, we're all in this together!!!

Prayers and Pixie dust spreading around... the best kind of magic is sprinkled with love...

DD had another "episode" so I'm not going to be on the computer much tonight either!!! Send hugs and pixie dust here too...

Well this isn't really food related but if you could spare a little pixie dust, I'd really appreciate it. As I mentioned I'm a graduate student studying speech pathology and I am at the point where I'm getting my own clients with supervision. Well I have a client tomorrow that I am very nervous about. More than any of my other clients combined. I met the client last semester because I did his initial evaluation, but this is the first time meeting for his therapy. His case is not like any ordinary speech or language or even voice disorder and I feel like I'm just making goals up off the top of my head. My supervisor has told me to stop worrying and that I will be fine, but I am so nervous I can't even stand it. I literally feel like I have no idea what I'm doing, that I'm making stuff up, and that I will make a fool out of myself during the session. So, if you could spare some SLP pixie dust, I'd love you forever!

Foodwise, I was kinda bad today. I got really stressed (again, school related) because I wasn't feeling well, and my other supervisor sprung all this testing and screening stuff on us - for tomorrow on top of my nerves over tomorrow's session! So I've been scrambling to get things together and in the process ate a lot of junk. That I bought at CVS. Oops. Tomorrow is another day - and weigh day. Hopefully it's lower than last week. Even if it's a half a pound.

Thanks Peeps!

This reminds me of the scene in 2 weeks notice where Sandra Bullock eats too many hotdogs and in the middle of a trafic jam runs to the rv in front of her car and asks to use the bathroom! :lmao: I had my gall bladder removed 8 years ago and I still have those unexpected "moments"!

I forgot, I wanted to join the teaching circle....

One tablespoon of ground flax seeds and three tablespoons of water may serve as a replacement for one egg in baking by binding the other ingredients together, and ground flax seeds can also be mixed in with oatmeal, yogurt, water (similar to Metamucil), or any other food item where a nutty flavour is appropriate. [citation needed] Flaxseed oil is most commonly consumed with salads or in capsules. Flax seed owes its nutritional benefits to lignans and omega-3 essential fatty acids. Omega-3s, often in short supply in populations with low-fish diets, promote heart health by reducing cholesterol, blood pressure and plaque formation in arteries. In addition, flaxseed oil is often recommended as a galactagogue. Lignans benefit the heart and possess anti-cancer properties: A series of research studies by Lilian U. Thompson and her colleagues at the Department of Nutritional Science of the University of Toronto have reported that flaxseed can have a beneficial effect in reducing tumour growth in mice, particularly the kind of tumour found in human post-menopausal breast cancer. The effects are thought to be due to the lignans in flaxseed, and are additive with those of tamoxifen, the currently standard drug treatment for these cancers. Initial studies suggest that flaxseed taken in the diet have similar beneficial effects in human cancer patients. Reports that flaxseed is beneficial in other cancers, e.g. prostate cancer, are less numerous but promising.

Flax seed sprouts are edible, with a slightly spicy flavour.

Not sure how it effects the other areas, but I do know Bean-O is very very effective!!! ;)

Jo,

He just wasn't ready to fly 8 hrs. with DD (who can be a whiney hiney;) who had never been on a plane. Didn't think 8 hrs. trapped in a flying tin can would be the way to introduce her to flying. ;) :rotfl: Maybe someday we will make it over there. He wants to stand on the Prime meridian and have his picture made. :)

Did anybody see the story about the family that was asked to get off of an airplane b/c the 3yr old daughter was having a pissy fit. They said that they asked them to leave the plane and before it took off for the safety and comfort of the other passengers.

Welcome to the new people.

confession time:
breakfast: 1 bowl of Special K cereal w/reduced fat milk
snack: Ricotta cream w/splenda Brown sugar and vanilla
lunch: Brown rice w/small amt of cheese and sour cream
dinnner: grilled chicken w/mixed veggies
exercised a little and drank about 6 glasses of water and 2 glasses of diet green tea.

I will be sending somepixiedust: your way and will be :cheer2: for you. You will do just fine. It sounds like your supervisor has confidence in you, youve got to have confidence in yourself. Remember you have gone through a lot of schooling to get this far. You'll do just fine.

I wanted to swim with the stingrays, but there was a storm off shore and the waves were high, so we just spent the day shopping in Grand Cayman. It was beautiful!

In Key West (which is one of my most favorite places on EARTH!!!) we went sea kyaking in the mangroves...very cool! I have also been down there at other time and done the catamaran / snorkling thing and loved it. And it is always nice to just sit in Sloppy Joes or Hogs Breath and have a drink!!!

I am getting more and more jealous by the minute!

If you wanna go I can be ready in 15 mins:hippie:

I have to tell ya'll...on my way to the gym tonight it occured to me that I forgot my socks. Now I wear business attire to work and I had on tan dress sock...not the most attractive look with biker shorts, if you know what I mean. :sad2:

Well, I had two options - go home and skip the gym or go work out and look like an idiot...I chose option two. :confused3

So I was in the bathroom getting ready and what to my amazement do I find in the bottom of my gym bag, but a pair of white atletetic socks!!!

AAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!! (that would be angels singing if you were curious)
The exercise and gym fairies took mercy on me because I made a GOOD choice and they saved me from humilitation.:cheer2:

I'm sure there is a moral to this story somewhere, but I am just happy I didn't have to work out looking like my Grandpa at the beach! :lmao:
