DISapalooza speculations????

Whoa - the party was at Toy Story Mania last year? I had no idea the DIS had such clout with Disney. I just assumed that the whole company was as :furious: about the DIS as its weddings department is! :rotfl:

:rotfl:

Hi Carrie :wave2:

I hope you get to go, I will look forward to a great trip report ;)

We went to TSM party last year and it was fab :thumbsup2 Pete and the gang will do something above and beyond I'm sure :goodvibes they totally know how to throw a great party :cool1: :cool1:

I wish we could go but we'd already booked a trip in Sept :woohoo:

Isn't this funny!?!! We're all a bunch of lemmings just following along on a cliff trail that John (the SUPER Genius) is leading us on. We're just all going along blindly, making all of our reservations and plans from just a few scant details. John, if I had that power, OH THE THINGS I COULD DO!!! (boo hoo hoo ha ha ha <----evil laugh!):stir:
But I KNOW it will be great. The team doesn't seem to do anything half-XXXed. I can't wait! The suspense goes on....

John's having us all meet at the turkey cart in Frontierland... we will be escorted onto IASW for hours of maddening fun... followed by enterance to Stitch's great escape... Where we will be handed a Stitch antennae topper and "escorted" out the back way, where we will have to walk from the MK over to our cars...

I am going to try and make a guess. :goodvibes How about the Atlantic Dance Hall on the Boardwalk? Not sure if it holds up to 1500 people, but lots of room out on the boardwark. :dance3:

The Great Movie Ride only holds 225 people. The Land Pavilion is not listed as an event venue on Disney Meetings' website.

If the event is really for 1,500+ people, my guess is either the Wonders of Life Pavilion or the World Showplace Pavilion behind Canada, since both are regularly used special-event venues that hold a huge number of people.

You can narrow down the choices by checking out all the available theme park event venues on Disney Meetings' interactive map, here: http://adisneymeetings.disney.go.com/media/dwm/en_US/media/tools/ipm/IPM.html

The site also has floorplans and capacities for the convention centers, but I'm thinking the DIS wouldn't settle for anything as staid as a ballroom. :cutie:
TSM was rented out for the first time ever by the Dis last year for the Mousefest event. You can check out the blog from the event -- http://www.disunplugged.com/2008/12/13/meeting-friends-from-the-dis-and-disunplugged-today/
I looked to see if TSM was listed and it's not. They had the party their last year so I'm guessing just because it not listed does not mean they can't have it in that location.
Thanks for the link! :thumbsup2
Even for weddings, you can rent out certain attractions and not all attractions are listed here.

So let's figure what actually is here. I went through the link for every venue that will hold 1000+ people and unless I am missing something, here's what I got:

Epcot: Grand Finale Dessert Reception
Wide Waste of Space: In the Zone
Yacht & Beach Club: Shipwreck Beach Party
Animal Kingdom: Dinoland USA and Harambe Village Street Festival
Hollywood Studios: Coast to Coast Party
Typhoon Lagoon: Day at the Beach Mix-in Event (this is the only event that happens during park hours)

Of course, for the right amount of influence (ie: $$$), Disney will make just about any venue available :cutie:
Does that change anyone's opinions?

A number of years ago we were at a private corporate party and it was a blast. They brought everyone in on buses through the Streets of America. There they had set up a red carpet complete with "fans" and "paparazzi" lining the area where we exited the buses. They were asking for our autographs as if we were all famous.

Then we were taken into the Indiana Jones theater where we could grab whatever snacks we wanted on the way in and then that show was performed special for our group. This was while the park was in the process of closing.

After the show, we were taken to Sunset Blvd. where there were tables with food set up and a band playing. TOT was open all evening (this was pre-Rock 'n Roller coaster days) as was the Great Movie Ride. At the end of the evening, they handed out beverages and ice cream bars to the group before they did the Fantasy in the Sky fireworks. I'm sure the DIS doesn't have anything quite this elaborate in mind, but thought you'd all enjoy hearing the experience we had.

The next time we went on a corporate trip with this same group, they had their special party at Universal Studios. It was a 0 by comparison to the party at Disney. ::MinnieMo

Personally .... I think the entire "The Land"
Pavillion will be open just for our party.
This would be awesome !

My second guess would be that Toy Story Mania, AND The Great Movie Ride would be open the entire time of our party.

Either place, they will transport us to the back entrances of these places.

Anyone think about them adding the Osborne lights to TSM??? That would be more... :rolleyes1

They do have clout. I didn't read everything so maybe this was already mentioned, but I am pretty sure they are going to have Disney reopen Stitch's Supersonic Celebration just for us. :woohoo:

Yacht & Beach Club: Shipwreck Beach Party
Typhoon Lagoon: Day at the Beach Mix-in Event (this is the only event that happens during park hours)

Does that change anyone's opinions?

I would eliminate these two. Beach and December don't really mix well, in my opinion. Risk of cool-ish weather is too great.

As for Pete and his gang having clout - I think money - good amounts of it - is also involved!

I think we're all going to go up inside the castle and take turns riding the cable as Tinkerbell. :)

Ha ha ha ha I would snap the cable. :rotfl: So no ambulance rides for me:lmao:

I hope everyone is right and it is Soaring and the Land. How fun my favorite ride and favorite park.

I can not wait to see what it is.:goodvibes Pete and John will no doubt blow us all away.:goodvibes

I also worked for a corporation (that eventually became a Disney sponsor) that threw parties like this every year for it's annual sales meeting. We had the same type of party at the Studios, but the one I attended was pre-Sunset. I also attended several of these special parties due to Disneyana Conventions. The best one was the Studios scavenger hunt. I still have the packet.

I look forward to the surprise!

.... And now as I recall .... on one of my solo trips, I was walking through World Showcase. The park was open, and The American Adventure was open, but we had to go through a different door to see the show. I peeked in the door, and there were tables all set up in the room where "The Voices of Liberty" sing. It looked really beautiful ! I was told the space was rented out for a private party.

Wherever it's held, be ready for Disney to charge $75 for a backless chair to sit on.:woohoo:

Hopefully soon we will find out who got the closest!

I read this too quickly and saw "Soon we will find out who got the closet!"

I know some of us have been bad and pestered them, but not bad enough for the closet.:goodvibes
