Went to WDW in August, split stay - AKV and BC - WOW! what a trip! When we checked in at BC, we got a room immediately but it was a disability room - roll-in shower and lower king bed - not to be a snot but we really did not want those alterations so asked to be changed which they did - we had to wait a couple hours which we had no problem with. They said at the desk that they had no idea which were disability units and which weren't ?!?

We are taking my sister and her gang next August and got a Grand Villa at Kidani :cool1: - are there any disability units in the GV?? - do we need to ask at the desk during check-in? - we prefer NOT to have them, leave them for the people who would benefit. I know it sounds snobbish but with a Grand Villa, we really want our preference. Suggestions??

I don't know how the Front Desk could not know which units are HA.

Like you, we prefer not to stay in a HA unit and we often (sometimes we forget) have that noted on our preferences. If we find we've been put in one, we immediately call and get it changed.

Yes there are ADA GV rooms at Kidani. You can put a request in at booking and reiterate it at check in (of course it is only a request), if it is all that is left you may end up in one.

Just as an FYI, if anyone does "need it" during your stay - you wouldn't be put in it. HA rooms that are required for guests with disabilities are blocked off.

However, because DVC books full, there is a point at which there are often HA rooms and not disabled guests who need them. If there are no regular rooms available (or none clean at check in), able bodied guests will get the HA rooms.

(On occasion, there are disabled guests who need HA rooms and all the HA rooms are booked up as well).
