HI, my friend Dottie directed me here. She is doing a fantastic job and suggested I come here for a little moral support.
I am not on any particular plan, but have done Weight Watchers in the past and still try to use the point system.
I work out regularly with weight training and the Elliptical machine. I also walk frequently.
I am doing a great job maintaining my previous weight loss, but am currently at a plateau.
I would love to get at least 10 more lbs off.
Look forward to being a part of this group!

Welcome Tinkfan..You have come to the right place...we have awesome moderators here who will help you through anything!!!

Just jump right in!!! Thats what I did...just start posting...we are all behind you!!!

Now, you all follow me you will not be able to see my better side. LOL

Does anyone else have this problem? I have lost a substantial weight and it came off fairly easy but now after, an almost 80 pound loss, I am faltering. I adhere to my diet pretty well but am finding myself gaining huge amounts of weight 3-5 pounds overnight. I have gone over and over my journals and do not find a lack of water and am staying on points most days and am exercising more than I have ever done in my life. It is not a plateau and is not a muscle vs fat thing as there is still plenty of fat around. The problem is that when I have these sudden weight flucuations I get all depressed and sometimes spend a day eating my way out of a blue funk. Is still much less than I used to eat on a 'normal' day but it has been going on for several months now. I did lose 5.5 pounds last month but it was a real struggle and then I woke up literally 7 pounds bigger over a period of one day. There is no way that I ate enough to be able to do that.

Any help much appreciated.

SG/Linda

Are you weighing on the same scale at the same time of the day? If you are on WW what do they say there? I know with woman our weight fluctuates due to water retention at certain times of the month. Also as we get closer to our goal weight those pounds come off much slower.

Don't get discouraged. It sounds like you have done an awesome job. Also don't weigh yourself more than once a week. I also skip the week of my monthly cycle so I don't get depressed because I know it will be higher.

Spring has finally come to New York, so no more hiding in sweaters! Help!

I'm joining the challenge, but not really sure of my plan yet. I am trying Kathy Smith's Jumpstart for now ( I found it on ivillage) and using my Gazelle for 15 mins a day.

Exercise...starting slow so I won't quit, also want to use free weights.

Food...will probably do old-fashioned calorie counting, but want to lose slow so I can stick to it.

Emotional/comfort eating...this is my downfall...have to be strong!!

Friday will be my weigh-in day!

Thanks in advance to all and Good Luck!

Hey Katholyn,
I don't have a specific plan... bits and pieces.... if I'm in a hurry, I'll grab a slimfast bar or a friut cup ( no syrupy ones!) or a piece of fruit etc. I teach at a community college and I try to remember to take something to eat and a no cal or water drink with me... otherwise I am starving half way through the morning and you KNOW what is in those snack machines!!!
I also am trying to get regular with WATP, I have the 2 mile tape and CAN do it.... but don't do it on a regular basis!
I have a friend that is going to Curves and she is taking me with her next week ( I got strep throat this week and couldn't go)---- this will probably be the best thing for me as she will MAKE me go with her LOL.. she goes 3 times a week at least :)

other than that I am just trying to eat smart.
Kathi

SG/Lind,

Don't be discuraged you sound like you are doing everything you should be except figuring in your monthly cycle. I know my self when it's that time I can gain 3-5 lbs seemingly overnight but staying on program is the best thing. Don't even do anything extra. When you get throught the week you may find a nice surprise.

Hope that helps.

Hi! I'm ready to take the challenge!
After a two month break I'm back at Weight Watchers'. I lost 50 pounds before on WW.

My mini goal is 15 pounds by the time I go back to WDW.

Good Luck Everyone Taking the challenge. I know with all this support we can't fail.

Ok, I don't see many men on this board, so maybe I'll play the part of minority. Anyhow, I think allot of men just don't admit they need help for anything.

I signed up a year and a half ago with the Beverly Hills Weight Loss program. At the time I weighed in at a very uncomfortable 243.9 lbs. I started in September of 2001, and by February of 2002 I hit my low point of 190.3. Then I thought I was done, but low and behold I climbed back up to around 196, that was until I went to Disney in August of '02, I went up to a wopping 205.7 by the time I came back. I lost 6 of those pounds in 2 weeks, but never really regained my self control I had before vacation, then three weeks ago, I re-commited to the program, which I still go to once a week, when I hit 209.7. That was it. I had spent $2k between protein drinks, vitamins, and visits, and here I was inching my way back up.

I have learned that "cheating" becomes a way of life. It's only too easy to say, "only this one bag of Frito's" to start on a path of the downward spiral. Once I commited myself to health again I have not had any problems getting back on track. Since I restared I am down to 203.9, yes just about 6 lbs in 2 weeks. Not great, but I remember when I hit this weight range the first time I kind of plataued for a while, and had increasing difficutly loosing those last 10 lbs. By the way my goal weight has always been 195, so I really only have 8 lbs to go. Anyhow I really appreciate this board, and I chanllenge the men in the group to step forward, and chime in.

Count me in:smooth:

you said...

I think allot of men just don't admit they need help for anything

Ya think???....lol, only kidding.

I agree with your "cheating" theory. I am so good about falling off the wagon and then deciding to eat like crazy til the "oh,I'll start again next Monday".

It's depressing to be losing the same pounds over and over, but I'm hoping this time I'll keep 'em off.

Good Luck to you!

Vivienne

<b>tinkfan</b> Welcome to the DIS and a very special welcome to WISH. It's great to see you here.

It don't think you will have any trouble at all reaching your goal, it is very reasonable. You sound like you are doing really well with your physical exercise too :)

We have many WW, here on WISH. You have a ready made WW support group and a huge motivational support group now. We've been waiting for you to show up, you know.

I'm really glad you will be part of my support group. If you would like to add the WISH member clipart to your signature there is a post telling you how to do that right <b>HERE</b>

No lurking now, don't be shy, just jump right in and join the fun :)

<b>SlightlyGoofy</b> I have the same little problem and I blame it all on the bloat fairy. I have idiopatic edema and can gain several pounds overnight because of it. You have been doing everything right, so you know it isn't a true "fat" weight gain. You might want to ask your doctor about this. Perhaps he/she would prescribed some diuretics for you.

<b>disneygals</b> I'm really glad you decided to join us here on WISH.

I'm an emotional/stress eater and I sure know how you feel. I think a lot of us here know how you feel.

That's what makes WISH so helpful for me. Everyone here knows <i>exactly</i> what I'm going through and I know what <i>they</i> are going through.

We have a wonderful support group here, it has been such a help to me. I'm sure you will find it helpful too. I'm really glad you will be part of my support group now :)

<b>KathiWithAnI</b> Okay, I'll just put you down as "eating sensibly" :)

And by the way, you stinker, I fell for your tag. I was talking with Lauri, today, and told her how happy I was that her sister was part of my support group here. I'll bet you know what her answer was too, "I don't have a sister". When I told her about your tag she explained that you are just really good friends. Was my face red, hee hee hee. It was kind of fun :)

<b>Zoo Keeper</b> Welcome to WISH! I love seeing new faces here. I think that you will easily reach your short term goal within the 40 days remaining before your trip.

We have lots of WW here and a wonderfully supportive group of kind, caring and emotionally generous people here on WISH. You are going to make a perfect new addition.

Grab your member clipart and add it to your signature if you like. It's exempt from the DIS clipart guidelines :)

Are you a zookeeper? I think that would be wonderful work to do :)

<b>Coach Rick </b> The men are definitely outnumbered by the women here on WISH but we have a few here who have been quite successful in their efforts. They truly keep me motivated and inspired to keep my eye on the goal.

I think it's great you have decided to join us. You are going to make a great addition to our support group. I find WISH very helpful because of all of the support and encouragement that I find here. I think you will find it helpful, too.

So are you going to continue with the Beverly Hills diet plan? We have most plans represented here on WISH, I'm not sure I've heard of that one.

You sound determined and motivated. You are going to be a great example for me, I can tell already :) Grab the member clipart if you want. No lurking, okay? I need you to participate in our support group, it's helpful and besides that it is just plain fun!

I'm really glad to see you all here. So, are you ready to <b>succeed</b>? I hope so, because you are all WISHers now and that's what we do here.

Onward and downward!

Thanks for the warm welcome. I love this place. I have enjoyed the threads very much, and have gotten much out of it already.

I do plan to stay with Beverly Hills. I think I am addicted to the protein drinks. They are very tasty, and make excellent snacks. Of course I make them taste better by putting a nice scoop of low fat cool whip on them. I generally use cool whip to make anything taste better. Did you ever have chicken with cool whip on it? Me either!;) One thing I learned was successful on my program was the allowance of "one hour of freedom" per week. Every week I look forward to my hour, and usually go out to eat at my favorite Italian establishment, and have a nice pasta dinner with ground veal, and wine sauce. Mmmmmmmmm. The key is to do that one hour, and that's it. I have found roasting a turkey breast and slicing it like deli meat, and mixing it with romaine, and redicio (sp) with hot peppers, and vidalia onion salad dressing is an awesome lunch. I hate plain drinking water, so Fruit 2 O is my savior, as I am supposed to drink 64 ounces a day.

I guess it's all about finding new dishes you really like to replace all those fattening dishes you used to like.

Anyhow, thanks again and you will be hearing from me. Hey I got an idea for exercise...:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: does it count if I use these smilies to do my jumping jacks:confused:

I <i>wish</i> those bouncing smilies counted, I would be so thin :)

Hi all. Just wanted to introduce myself. My name is Marie, I am 35 years old ( I think, LOL) I amrried with 3 kids. We as a family are Disney FANATICS. We just purchased the DVC in OCtober.

I need to lose 75 pounds to be at my goal. I am having the most horrendous time trying to take just 10 pounds off. I have decided to do the Weight Wtachers points plan, because I like the freedom of the points system. BUT, I want to also limit my carbs, so rather then take the plunge into Atkins, I am going to do WW's and count the points, they just won't include many carbs. I am hoping it makes a difference.

I live in MA and a few weeks ago, we had a week of warm days. I started to get up at 6AM and walk 2.5 miles a day. THEN, we got a snow storm in April, so for the next couple of weeks, we had a second winter. I am a fair weather friend. So, during the cold snap, I didn't get up and walk, now my struggle is to convince my body to wake up and GO in the morning...so far I am losing.

My challenge to myself for tomorrow is to get my fat butt out of bed and WALK. I am also thinking about joining Curves, but I would have to give up our current gym membership to do that, and my husband still insists that he will use it, even though he has not been to workout since before the winter.

I know this board will help keep me motivated..we are all Disney freaks, and going to Disney in November is what I am shooting for to take the weight off.

Hi,

I'd like to join your challenge. We're off to Disney in just over 6 months and I need to lose 28 pounds. I know that sounds easy but I've already been trying to lose it for 18 months for various occasions and failed miserably. I'm cutting out all wine, chocolate, crisps etc and making myself try and take exercise.

Wish me luck.

Ok. So I am a little late getting to this thread. I am in. I am doing WW and have lost a few since January but need to get back on track so here goes................................

<b>Disney1fan2002</b> Hello again, Marie. I'm glad you decided to take the WISH challenge. I think setting a mini-goal of losing 10 pounds is a great idea for you. It's easier to start off small and work your way up.

You are going to do great, I just know it!

<b>Sue & Co.</b> Welcome to the DIS and a special welcome to WISH. I'm very glad you decided to join us.

Will you be following a specific eating plan or will you just eat sensibly?

I think a goal of losing 28 pounds in six months is very reasonable. I know you can do it, we will help you.

<b>DisneyKel322</b> Welcome to the DIS and a special welcome to WISH. It's never too late to take the WISH challenge. I'm glad you decided to join us.

We have lots of WWs here and a wonderful support group made up of men and women on all kinds of eating plans

<i>I'm really glad to see all of you here on WISH. If you would like to add the WISH member clipart to your signature, there is a wonderful thread telling you how to do that right <b>HERE</b>.

Every time you lose five pounds you earn a new clipart, if you want one. It's fun to watch those cliparts change. Don't get too attached to your member clipart, I have a feeling all of you will be trading up to the 5 pound loss clippie very, very soon.

Are you ready to succeed? You are? Oh good! I'm so glad you are part of my support group, now.

So, are you ready? Set? <b>Go!</b> Get ready to be <b>successful</b> because you are all WISHers now and that's what we do here, we help each other to succeed.</i>

Katholyn

In reply to above, I'm not following any specific plan just eating sensibly (or trying to). So far so good today.

Hi Everyone,

just back from Disney on Saturday, had a wonderful time, got back and wondered how much weight I had put on!!!
I actually LOST 2 lbs????? must be the excersise.

Been to doctor this evening, going to try the lipotrim diet has anyone else tried this??
The diet is monitored by a doctor and is a meal replacement diet. I need to get rid of the weight as my blood pressure is not behaving and I am sensitive to most of the meds.
This is going to be very hard for me but here goes.............
