I'm posting my goals b/c maybe if I say them to someone else, then I will accomplish them for a change! I'm not overweight, but I could lose 15 pounds. (People who know me wouldn't believe that....I hide it well)

I have been exercising really hard for the past year. I toned up my legs and arms as well as increased my cardiovascular capacity. But the weight stayed on. I think my problem was that I would kill myself in a high-intensity class at the Y about 3 times a week but then do nothing the rest of the week. I watch what I eat, but I am not strict about it. I'm not a big "junk food" eater, but obviously something needs to change b/c my weight is stuck.

So here's the new plan. Portion control! I am going to eat slowly so I feel fuller on less food. I am going to leave some of every meal. For instance, I'll only eat 3/4 of a sandwich rather than the whole thing. When I go out to eat, I'll take home 1/2 my entree for later. I'm also going to limit my intake of white breads, potatoes, and pasta.

For exercise, I am going to 7 days a week! I am lucky enough to have a workout room in my office at work. On my way home, M-F, I will walk/jog for 2 miles and then do the weight machines (alternating days for upper and lower body). On the weekends I will do a Pilates tape or a kickboxing tape. (both are awesome for toning)

So that's my goal. And now that y'all know it. Maybe I'll stick to it?! I leave for Disney in 10 weeks. I'd like to have dropped at least 5 pounds by then.

Hi,

I lurked and now I'm joining too! I joined WW 3 weeks ago, but I need moral support. Tomorrow I leave for WDW (yay!) so you won't hear from me for a week, but I'll be gung ho when I return! I have the infamous 15 pounds to lose (unfortunately it's not the "freshman 15" as that was over 10 years ago!).

So, "howdy" to all you DIS'ers and I'll see you when I get back!

mom3princesses Welcome to the DIS and a very special welcome to WISH! I am so glad that you decided to join us.

I have been eating the Atkins way since 1/9/03 and I just love it so much that I have taken it as my lifetime plan. Lots of other WISHers follow the Atkins plan too, so if you have any questions about the program or need help at all, all you have to do is ask and you will receive many helpful replies.

I think you're going to like it here, WISH is a caring and helpful place.

Keke Welcome to WISH! How wonderful that you are taking control of your weight while you have only 15 pounds to lose. I wasn't that wise and my weight just kept climbing.

You sound very determined and motivated. I'll bet you do great with this endeavor.

girlfriend I'm so glad that you decided to "delurk" and join us. We've been saving you a place, you know.

Have a magical trip to the world. I look forward to hearing about all of the fun you had.

Well, more new members for my support group. How great this is, I love meeting new friends. I think you are all going to find that WISH is a very helpful place. The best part being our support group which is made up of men and women following all different kinds of eating plans. Regardless of their plan their support of fellow WISHers is constant and neverending. If you need help, all you need to do is ask and it will be there.

I hope you will visit often and participate as much as you can. It's helpful to all of us when you participate here, on WISH.

You may add the WISH challenge member clipart to your signature if you want. There is an excellent post by our own Wovenwonder telling you how to do that right HERE

What we do is begin with a zero loss regardless of how much weight we may have lost before taking the challenge. Then every time we lose 5 pounds we get to "upgrade" our clipart. It's fun and motivating.

So, is everyone ready to get started? Are you ready to succeed? I hope so because you are all WISHers now and that's what we do here...we succeed!

Onward and downward!

Katholyn

Sign me up for the challenge!!!! :)
I have started my diet today and so far so good.
I am doing the slim fast diet plan and working out with the body flex program and doing some pilates. I seem to be pear shaped with all my weight from the belly button down. I have a long term weight loss goal of 40 pounds. I would like to lose at least 20 pounds by the time our cruise comes around in January. I have never had a problem with my weight until about 3 years ago and now it seems that the weight just keeps getting worse. I am very short (5 foot tall even) and every pound shows. I am dedicated to taking the weight off but have always heard that it is easier when you have weight loss buddies but since I just moved to a different state last month--I don't know anyone so I am very grateful to have found this board. :)

I am starting today!!!! 8/22/03.

It would be great to have some support from others who are just getting started!!! My plan is to walk 2 miles every morning 5 days a week and to loosly follow the WW points system!

All the posts have inspired me to give it shot!! I REALLY, REALLY want to have some great vacation photos at WDW this time!! (I am always behind the camera and not in the picture.) Feb 2004 is my final goal date! But my MINI:earsgirl: GOAL is for November 15.

My better half (Barb) convinced me to join the health club on 8/15/02. With the goals of loosing weight and toning up. After struggling to lose 15 pounds as of June 1. [9 DCL cruises didn't help] We started Nutrisystems. Now just past the 1 year mark, I'm at 35 pounds lost with 25 still to go.

Glad that I found this section of the Disboard. :D

We're hoping to go to WDW in March and I'd like to lose about 30 more pounds. Thought this would keep me more accountable.

I'm checking in, although I started several weeks ago, I just found this board.

Three years ago, I lost 75 lbs. I gained about 30 back over the last 3 years, so before I get back to where I was, I decided to take control of my over-eating, and start walking again.

I started six weeks ago and have lost 10 lbs so far. I want to lose another 25.

I have a degree in Food and Nutrition, so I don't tend to follow a "diet" per se, I just know what I should and shouldn't be eating. What I have had a problem with in the past is 1) wicked sweet tooth and b) generally eating to much at a meal, not having adjusted to my age (50) and tendency to be less active than before.

I respect the Zone diet. As a nutritionist, I think it is balanced. I really haven't read any others.

I am also building up my walking program again. I am up to 3 miles at 4mph, 4 times per week. When it gets cooler I will make that 5 times. When I have built that routine, I will start to add in Pilates and the Firm for the muscles. Have to move in increments if I want it to stick better than it did before.

Is that all I needed to tell you? I do have a question. I'm interested in joining in the WDW 1/2 marathon in 2005. I would appreciate being directed to that group - I don't know how to find them!

Count me in! I am planning to eat sensibly, watch portions, and count calories. I am so excited about joining WISH and getting to know everyone!

I'm in. I started the South Beach Diet exactly 12 days ago and have not had a carb since. It is amazingly easy to do this diet and I am not craving bread, cereal, pasta or even cookies! The first two days were the worst, but by day 3 my cravings had vanished and I have been eating healthy foods. I have two days to go and then I reintroduce the good carbs back into my diet. I don't feel the need to reintroduce them, but I gradually will add them, especially the fruit. I will weigh myself on Monday and see how much I have lost.

We have a fitness center where I work and I am going to start walking on the treadmill. I also walk my dog and that helps to keep me exercising.

Will report back on Monday! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

My goal is 30 pounds.

MzEeyore It's great to see you here, my friend! Welcome to Wish.

We have other WISHers following the SlimFast plan, so you will have plenty of help with the program if you need it. You sound like you are motivated and determined and ready to get started. You're going to like it here, Joanie. WISH is a helpful and fun place.

vegaspalmtree Thanks for posting here too. I'll just list your plan as WW, if that is alright with you. We have many WW WISHers, some are "official" WWers and some do the program on their own. You have a ready made information group just waiting to help you along the road to goal, if you need help.

You have set a reasonable goal and I know that you will be successful reaching it. Especially now that you are with us here on WISH.

fabdisbabe Where have you been??? Where is your member clipart? Don't go away like that, again. We miss you too much when you aren't around WISH.

It's great to see you back home again, sweetie. {{{HUGS}}}

atigeg I'm so glad to see you here! Good for Barb, pointing you to WISH. WISH is a helpful and motivating place and we need more "guys".

Sounds like you have had some wonderful success with Nutrisystem. You are going to be the perfect addition to my support group. My support group is full of successes :)

AllstartedbyaMouse Welcome to the DIS and a very special welcome to WISH. I'm very glad you found us and I hope that you can visit often.

Will you be following any formal eating plan or do you plan to "eat sensibly"? Regardless of what plan you choose, you will find others here following the same plan and always ready to help you if you need it. All they ask in return is that you help them if they ask. It's a great set up and very helpful.

kathleena I'm glad to see you here and glad you decided to join us. Sounds like you have a good idea of what you need to do and you sound very determined and motivated, which is excellent.

I'll just list your plan as "eating sensibly" if that is alright. I think you will find that WISH is a very helpful place and we could sure use some of that nutritional advice of yours. Visit everyday.

kayeandjim00 Welcome to WISH. I see you have already added your member clipart. It looks great on you.

I'll put your plan as "eating sensibly" and I look forward to getting to know you better.

hulabird I'm so glad you decided to join us! I follow a controlled carbohydrate plan, too, and I no longer eat bread or sugar. Don't miss it one bit, either. It is truly amazing how easy it is to live without those foods once you get them out of your system.

Lots of WISHers follow the South Beach Diet and many others control their carbohydrate intake by following other eating plans. There is a lot of information available here, so if you have any questions all you have to do is ask.

I'm glad to see more new members of my support group. I count on the WISH support group to help me stay motivated and I'll bet they help you stay motivated, too. The secret to WISH is to participate often. When you participate here it helps all of us but more importantly, it will help you. Honest...it's true.

Well, let's get started, then. You are all going to do just great. You are on your way to goal and all of your new WISH friends are going to help you get there.

Onward and downward!

I need motivation, so I figured this is the place to go. ;)

Last summer, I lost 20 pounds following the LA Weightloss diet (never went to the place, just had a copy of the diet) and exercising regularly. Well, as some of you may know, I found out I was pregnant in December so I gained the 20 pounds back plus a lot more.

I had our DS on July 2nd, lost about 20 pounds within the first couple of weeks, and now I still have about 40 to go. Unfortunately, breastfeeding didn't work out so I don't have that to help me lose weight. DH and I said we'd start dieting August 10th (we went to a wedding August 9th and wanted to enjoy it), but we didn't. DH starts college again next week and I'll be going back to work sometime in September (:(), so I know once we get back into a normal routine it'll be easier to diet. I plan to start following the diet and exercising on September first. :)

OK, you can count me in too. I was always about 120-125 lbs until about 9 yrs ago, and then the pounds started creeping up on me. I had my thyroid destroyed with radioactive iodine, and now have to take synthroid. My metabolism is not as high as it was back then, but that is not really the reason for all of the weight gain. I never had to watch what I ate or exercise very much at all to stay at my normal weight.

I am going to start the Atkins Diet tomorrow, and I will be walking with a friend several times a week. Sometimes I do the Pilates tapes also. I need to lose at least 50 lbs, and I know it will not just fall off (would be nice though).

Thanks,

Patsy

Hi! Just posting here to be sure that I am officially a WISH member!

I started LA Weight Loss on 8/18 and I've lost 4 pounds so far. I love the support I am getting here. I can't wait to lose more and feel even better about myself. Thanks everyone!

O.K. guys, I think now is FINALLY the time when I get started to lose this extra weight. I've been really inspired by you, and I think you can help me. My sister has been on Atkins for about 2 months (give or take) and has lost 20lbs. So, she's giving me her Atkins Diet book today, and I will probably start sometime this week. (Have to wait for pay day to go to the grocery store, but that's only Wed.) I want to lose about 40lbs. I'm 5'7 and weigh about 175 right now. (At least I have a dd to show for it, but she's 3 yrs old, so no more excuses!) So, any help you guys can give me will be greatly appreciated! I'm sure I'll have some trouble, because I'm not really a salad and veggie eater. I hate lettuce, and most veggies, just can't get past the look and texture. (I know, I know, I'm 30, not 3, but I just can't eat it!) So any recipes that you think could work for me, please send to me!
Thanks in advace, Angela

skuttle Welcome to WISH. It's a good idea to set a start date ahead of time--it allows you to get mentally prepared. Will you be following the LA weight loss eating plan again?

I'm so glad you are here with us, now? I think you are going to like it here.

brownii I'm so glad that you decided to join us. I follow the Atkins plan, too, and it has been the best plan I've ever followed.

Lots of WISHers follow a controlled carbohydrate eating plan. If you have any questions about the program all you will have to do is ask and you will receive many helpful replies.

scanne I'm so glad you posted here too. Good luck with the LA weight loss plan, I understand that many people have had great success with that plan.

I hope you can visit WISH often, I think you will be amazed at how helpful it is to participate on WISH. It has helped me a lot!

KIRSTIN'S MOMMY Welcome to WISH. I'm so glad that you decided to join us. You will find that many WISHers follow the Atkins plan and have been very successful losing weight that way.

Please visit often :)

Let's get started, then. Everyone has their plan and their support group. Get ready to succeed, my new friends, WISH is success insurance, you know, and you are all WISHers now.

You may add the WISH challenge member clipart to your signature if you want. There is an excellent post by our own Wovenwonder telling you how to do that right HERE

Okay, I'm officially in!

I posted on the cheat free challange and figured I 'd head over here as well. I've been lurking over here for a while.

I've been following a locarb plan since June. I lost 11 pounds. We went to WDW last week and I went completely off plan. On Sunday am, I was up 10 pounds. SInce then, I've dropped 5 of them. Hopefully a few more will disappear!
Yesterday, (8/25) I returned to my locarb plan. My plan is a pretty basic Atkins program. I need to up my exercise. I was doing good with Pilates and my treadmill, but have slipped up with that too.

I teach, and return to school next week. I think being in a more controlled environment will help. My biggest issue is making sure I have a decent lunch with me. The few food choices I have at school are horrible!

I look forward to "hanging out" over here! Thanks!
