Yeah, I'm very bummed out that they have ended the auction early. I was planning on bidding high for the lunch at Pete's house. Waiting till the last minute to send in my bid. My stomach dropped when I saw the bidding had ended.

Why did the time for the video "class" change? Now it conflicts with Ryno's meetup on Saturday....

I imagine that there was a commitment that conflicted with the original time. There must be a reason. They wouldn't do that willy-nilly.

I did... The life lessons and better video where in conflict before... And I figured I would go to the video one and the Ryno one... But now they are at the same time! Arg! Come on John/Pete/whoever, let's get this fixed!

Actually, I do not even know which Ryno meet I am supposed to go to.... I thought the one on Saturday was booked up, and I thought I booked the one for Sunday... But then I got a confirmation email for Sunday.... Head spins...

I'm positive that's what people were waiting for, as I was, and that they missed out on a large amount of money ending them early. Has to be a good reason but I can't imagine what it was......

Consider taking the amount you would bid and donating it via HandBid to GKTW. That is where all of the money raised is going to.

No, you will not. It is technically not an "official " event. But it is official in our hearts! And we have quite a few DISers and their families that will be there. So come ready to have fun! I think it will be a great party!

I think there were going to be a lot more bids at the last minute, which is the norm in how most auctions go...a flurry of bids at the last second. Don't understand at all. And I feel bad for those who were going to bid in this normal manner.

I certainly will be making a generous donation but thats not the point and I doubt that everyone who was going to bid will do the same and for the same amount.

There aren't any official meets planned, but if anyone is heading over to Trader Sam's, let me know. I haven't been able to check out the east coast version yet.

DH and I plan to be there Friday afternoon, probably soon after 4pm WDW time. We plan to register first and then head over.

Has anyone received their "Connecting With Walt" Confirmation for the event on the 24th? I'd gotten confirmation for everything else, except that. There was a bit of a mix up when I signed up for it, but I did receive the first e-mail that confirmed my sign up right after they posted the event. I read the general Mega Meet e-mail Pete sent out earlier today telling us that we'd be receiving individual messages about each event we've signed up for. I just haven't gotten that updated confirmation yet. There's clearly no rush, as I know they are super busy getting all of this info out to everyone. I was just wondering considering I'd gotten my other confirmations. Thanks!

I have only received the automated confirmation email. However, they announced on the podcast that they will be meeting at the flag pole.

Every signature drink at Trader Sam's comes in a special glass and there is a bit of a show that accompanies getting one.

The Polynesian Pearl is one of those drinks. When you order one, the bartender goes to a giant oyster shell behind the bar which magically opens and reveals a large round glass that looks like a pearl. That's what they put your drink in. The pearls are white, but every now and then, the oyster issues a much-coveted black pearl. No collection of Trader Sam's drinkware is complete without a black pearl.

I'll probably get a Pearl this trip as I don't have one yet, white or black. We're working on getting a complete collection.

A lot of people weren't happy when they learned that on Halloween, they served ALL black pearls.
