I hate to say this, but I think the Disney Store getting bought out by Childrens Place might just be the best thing that has happened to them, in years.

We've all discussed the days of walking into the Disney Store at your mall, and getting that little tickle-in-your-tummy...it was a taste of WDW, if just for a moment. And as of late - those feelings were looong-gone.

This past Christmas shopping season, I was impressed, happy and excited about some of things being sold. Anyone see that Denim Mickey Jacket for adult-women?? Im kicking myself for not getting it. SO CUTE! How about the crystal-embossed Mickey Tee?? Too cute.... And my g/f bought me that GIANT Disneyland snow globe - with Tink flying around the top, for XMas.. yay!!! :cheer2:

Now all they need to do is get those video monitors over the stuffed animal heap, back to those exciting things they used to play. I remember standing there, watching it and just feeling like a crack-addict who got their fix <<sigh>> :teeth:

Anyone else happy with the Dis-Store's new owners?

I couldn't disagree more.

The store in Moncton, NB, Canada has become so disorganized that I thought it was closing. Everything is marked down and the selection is limited. There was no longer any clothing for adults that I could see and the children's clothing was limited to pjs and t-shirts.

I am very dissappointed.

I just finished responding to another post re: The Disney Store and this is what I'd written as my response:
I used to be an Asst. Mgr at a Disney Store 10 yrs ago. When I worked there-we were true Disney cast members-proud of our jobs and having the opportunity to spread that pixie dust that you normally could only get in the parks.... I left right around the time they got rid of the cute cheerleader costumes because they started to change in quite a few ways.... I still shopped there of course, but the saddest thing was when they were bought out by the Children's Place. Most of the CM's in our store were replaced by Children's Place employees that have no concept of the magic of Disney-the stores look like a yard sale-it used to be that there would only be sales the day after Christmas and Easter-never any other time-now it's a permanent discount store it seems-the products are not as exciting... we used to have die-hard collectors coming in for the watch collections and Ron lee collectibles-there are no such things anymore. So sad to see it go downhill....

Man, I have to disagree as well. The ones in St. Louis are horrid. They're filled with inferior crap and have very little "Disney" feel to them at all. And, it's painfully evident that the employees rarely have any inkling as to what Disney's all about. Most of the ones I've talked to haven't even *been* to WDW.

I guess I should feel lucky - The stores here are seriously looking like they used to 'back in the day'

Think these are test stores???

The one near me is a bunch of plastic crap strewn about.

I seldom go in...went in during the holiday season to buy some Disney dollars, but wasn't even interested in looking around, as it seemed very cheesy to me. :sad2:

We have two nearby and they both stink, a few adult t-shirts and that is it for adult clothing, as for kids clothing, pj's and t-shirts. Lots of stuffed characters and mugs, a few snow-globes and a few toys.

I just responded in that other thread that the one I walked past last night looked like an outlet store - trashy, undecorated, everything on clearance, no smiles on the clerks faces. NOTHING like the original Disney Store.

We never bother to go in anymore.

As a former CM from TDS, I can only say that the store I worked in has gone so downhill, it's in a valley! They replaced the great carpeting that camoflouged (sp?) alot of the crap on the floor with some that shows EVERYTHING! The shirts they now where scream "welcome to target", the merchandise has not improved, although they are back with layette stuff which is nice. The cm's there have blank stares, and the ones I spoke to don't even know the characters that well. It's just another store in my eyes. Even the christmas merchandise stunk. I miss the old days and the old store. I rarely go in anymore - I wander around the store looking to buy something, but how many mugs can one have? I'm glad the OP's store is better, but most of them aren't.

I used to love the Disney store. Our Disney store used to be one of the places I had to go walk around in just to feel a little of the magic when I needed a fix. Now the store is nothing like it was - no adult clothes, no snowglobes, no jewelry, and they mostly sell toys that look like imitation Disney stuff. The quality of the items they do have is substandard in Disney terms. The only thing they still have in their favor is that they left up the cute wall decorations that always reminded me of the inside of a ride.

Guess I am lucky that I can drive a couple of hours and get a real fix when I need it.

Ours is pathetic too now. It's just about all toys and kiddie clothing with just one teeny corner set up for "adult" stuff. It's really nothing much, just some mugs, a handful of snowglobes and a few other odds and ends.

A few of the employees were CM's and I wonder how all of this has affected them? The really sad thing is that the store seems a lot more crowded now that it's turned into more of a generic children's store. :(

I hate what they've done to our Disney Stores. They are so cold and uninviting now. The lighting is also waaaaay too bright. Felt no different than shopping in Walmart's toy section. The stores really lack the charm the originals had. I dislike shopping there now.

Nope, don't like 'em at all either. To "WalMartish" for me. It takes much more than slapping "Mickey" on a mug or shirt to be Disney.

Glad dd is to "old" for them now......

Don't like the store either. Too many toys! Not much of anything else.

Ours closed when Childrens Place took over.

I guess I am in the minority but the 4 that we got to are all great. And yes I do get to all four.

MIne doesn't seem to have nearly as wide a selection of items now. Adult size clothing is almost nonexistent. It was much better before it was sold.

I never liked the disney store very much before OR after the switch. I have used it to buy costumes at Halloween thats about it.

The store in the local mall is neat & well organized, but it has no adult clothing. I've been able to get Disney Dollars, but not theme park tickets. Also I went to one in Northern VA over the Christmas holiday, they didn't have adult clothing either.

I guess if I want to get a fix, I have to go to the World of Disney store on 5th Avenue in NYC.

It's been ages since I've been tempted to enter a Disney Store. It used to be one of my regular stops during mall visits. Someone described a yard sale feel to it and I think that sums it up. No magic at all.
