Elemental had nothing in it that would be described as sociopolitical to the point of turning people away. No one turned away from Top Gun, Avatar, Spider Verse and they have way more political under tones.

I just want them to be good again, simple as that. Go back to treating the story as the most important thing, and quit all of the other stupid junk that doesn't matter. The story must come first always, that's how great movies are made.

The Last of Us is one of the most watched HBO shows and has 2 full episodes about gay relationships. Disney will be fine if some Moderate/Conservative decide to take their time and money elsewhere.

The parks are going to keep being a cash cow and produce billions in revenue and profit.

100% I do believe that. I think they are worried about checking boxes and driving the cultural changes they want to see instead of just telling a good story. I think in some cases the story comes after the cause. It feels formulaic currently with all the crap they are putting out.

I want great stories that audiences want to see first and foremost. After that anything else will be accepted, but telling a great story has to be front and center. I want real villains and real hero's and hero's that go on a proper tried and true hero's journey character arc. You know exactly like the original Lion King, Alladin, The Little Mermaid, and Beauty and the Beast.

Just to remind you that there was outcry and hatred when Miles Morales was introduced as a black spider man and based on what you have said, it was only to check boxes.

But now that he's popular, it's alright to say the story came first.

An HBO sci fi series rated TV-MA is not the same and animated movies made for kids. Great show by the way, some of the best TV I have seen in a few years.

I mean the Game of Thrones was a big hit, so should we have Disney beheading everyone every few minutes in their next animated movie?

Elemental is a great story. The box-office has no bearing on that. I really liked Strange World too - though that one was always going to be niche, and not because of certian characters, but because of the sci-fi adventure with a "steampunk" feel. It's still good though.

Miles was not popular when he came out though. People stopped reading and buying Spider Man comics and we're turned off completely. Based on what you have said, your first thought would have been that they wanted to make a black spider man to check boxes. That because of the backlash, and subsequent dip in sales, they should cancel Miles's story.

Instead they did not care about those, most likely, conservative people and continued with it and he became popular enough for a trilogy and a video game.
