You would be shocked how quickly construction can be done if proper planing and execution is done by qualified people who are allowed to do their jobs.

Disneyland was built 366 calendar days after the project began
I know. The problem today is that they focus so much on spreading out the cost when building new attractions. It's part of what took so long to build.

Yes, I understand about their desire to "spread out costs" so as not to ding the balance sheet. But you are also forgoing the revenues that attraction would have produced were it up and running more quickly.

Walt Disney World will have added 8 attractions in the last 7 years once Tron opens. Also will have rethemed 3 additional attractions over an 8 year period once the Splash retheme opens.
I have brought up all the WDW upgrades to @Jrb1979 previously and they are much more negative than myself. The major problems are how bad some areas have gotten. You have precious space not being utilized to attract people.

Tomorrowland is just a trainwreck. Laughfloor? why in there. Space ranger spin is not in good shape and it is just not a good ride. Speedway is no longer an idea of tomorrow. Nostalgia needs to be swept to the wayside to modernize. Sorry and that means Carousel of progress too. Storybook circus is always empty. Gut it.

Dinoland speaks for itself. Could prob wedge 2 themed lands in there. Is there room to expand all of Pandora, Harambe and Asia?

We could hop over to HS and transform Grand Avenue and Star Tours into a small themed land with 2 rides. Animation courtyard and the office/parking space behind that stretches from Toy Story Land to Rocking Roller coaster could fit a 'Cars Land sized' land with 2-3 attractions.

Epcot? Add a pavillion or 2 and/or expand existing to have more space. What they did in France was great. Imagination pavillion needs to be gutted.

Those are the glaring ones for me. And yes I apologize that this is being posted on the shareholder/stock thread. Lol.

I love CoP. But I understand your point about Tomorrowland.

Was wondering. Do we have any estimate on what GotG brings in per day LL? That lines moves pretty fast but always a decent amount of guests in line.

We have bought that about 5 times because we like to simply pick an evening time to go for dinner, that and Harmonious.

But maybe there's a faster construction curve like you mentioned above, that might make sense if it is planned for LL purchase.

I don’t disagree with any of that, but you also can’t do everything all at once, especially while you are funding projects in California, Paris, partially ones in Shanghai and Hong Kong, also expanding DPEP via the construction of 2 additional cruise ships and the refurbishment/acquisition of a mega cruise liner.

I see GotG is 2,000 per hour.

So if 1,000 are LL.

1,000 times 12 hours, times $15, times 365 days is $65 Million per year?

Agreed but most of this was bc they just kicked the can down the road. Tomorrowland has been baaaaad for a long time and it was just ignored. Tron is hopefully the beginning of a massive refurb.

With the addition of ILL, that is another reason to build some new rides or lands. While not every ride needs to be top tier, a new land usually has at least one e-ticket attraction. Since the new rides bump the previous ILL to genie+, they can monetize the new ride to quickly recoup some money that was put into the land. Its a win for them to essentially use us to subsidize new lands and a win for us as we actually get new stuff.

You just made my argument on why ABC/ESPN need to be sold/spun off by the close of business today.

Entirely too much top management time is spent on marginal return products while the money-making stuff is neglected. And Iger just last night said that they were going to spend yet more time to try and "monetize" ESPN.

You have time for that, but not for the stuff that makes you the most money?

The very definition of a stupid business decision.

Plus, the buzz that a new e-ticket brings. Heard numerous people waxing poetic about Guardians in January to other guests. And rightly so bc it is so fun and well done. This word of mouth drives ILL sales. The area around the ride has a buzz with people waiting for their ILL and Virtual Queue. It just changed the entire dynamic of the park. Cannot wait for Epcot to be done. It is going to be beautiful.

To them it's not a stupid business decision cause they don't view the parks like most of us do. It's been said they don't understand the parks and many of top brass think the parks are for Carnies.

Disney likes to own the narrative. It is worth something to control programming and messaging.

But they also aren’t “ignoring” the domestic parks based upon recent history either. WDW will technically open 2 new attractions this year. Should 1 of them have opened a while ago, yeah, and that’s a gripe you can take up with how they operated their construction post Covid. The other while not the most exciting is befitting of some of the education ideas behind EPCOT while also mixing in IP, and it provides a respite for guests in a park that can get unbearably hot.

Going forward not having something concrete in the works sure you can make that complaint, but it’s not like they haven’t also invested in the parks.

Yep same, and many, prob most have never seen the movies.

It's new concept to them.

Exactly.

Been sayin it on here for years.

The Wizarding World was probably paid off just on 1yr of butter beer sales.
