Umm...I think it's OK to have non dis ride the river. I guess if they don't say anything bad about dis or annoy anyone I think it's fine..but..that's just me..

You are correct. I thought I was right in telling him it was not up to me to connect him b/c it was not "my" river, and how to find dis, but he still just said I was "mean". I have heard other non-dis ask each other, while passing through the ride, how to get connected to it. I'm sure I will be asked the question at some point again! So, should I tell them yes or no?


I think we should have a contest for best ride room(s). Maybe set a date in the future so everyone who has not had time to join and wants to, can work on their rides. then on that date, a few judges (who are not on the network, or not allowed to vote for their own rooms) can vote on the best. Maybe even a "best room" prize, and "best network" prize (for someone who has a lot of rooms that are all awesome...coughmoussedudecough). I dunno. I'm not good at organizing things so if anyone thinks this is a good idea, help me out! I would be willing to donate prize(s) so the pay out would be good. Maybe everyone in the river could pay an entry fee of something rare/quest, or a lot of good furniture if they don't have any, and the winners will get loads of prizes. Or maybe EVERYONE (not just a few judges) can vote, but not for their own room. We could make it a silent vote, and PM someone with a vote. I would be also willing to take the PM's and tally votes if no one else wants to.

Ok, so what do you guys think? Any ideas?

You could have a reward for the best room that you can still hang out in, as in not all river, with chairs and stuff.

And no I don't think we should have non dis people on here as it is the DIS RIVER. That is my two cents.

Mia, here is my .02

If we allow others on the DIS River and run into a problem such as a room not working, or someone removing a connecting teleporter, it may be a problem finding them to correct it. Most of us on the river read the boards daily and would quickly see a post if there was a break down in the river system. Many of us also have one another on friends lists, so locating someone quickly is easy also.

I would like to see it stay the "DIS River".

I think that we should make sure every room has a shallow part near the door. I am going to ride the entire river and I will make a list of the people who have rooms you cannot get back on in.

And LoriR, good point, I had not thought of that. I would prefer it to be all DIS anyway, especially if we hold a contest (hint hint...anyone like that idea???)

Ok I rode the river just now, starting at my rooms to see if any rooms did not have a shallow entry point accessible from the entrance. I only got as far as disneyfanlv's paradise room before dc

These were the rooms that as far as I could tell, need to have an entryway from the door of the room:

Alien's laughing place (this was hard to tell but I don't think you can get in if booted to door)

RanierEars-Mine train lava water (very cool by the way!)...the only shallow part is away from door and is blocked by a tree.

Hagen-The second time you go into his first room...I don't think you can get back on that part.

That is it as far as I got. I'm not gonna try again tonight, but if you guys could fix that it would be great, and if anyone notices anymore please post!

Under cat.herder, I can't ride the whole river now without being disconnected just about the time I hit Moussedudes rooms. I will even get off the river and walk around every few rooms so I don't dc, but it doesn't work.

However, I can ride it longer under a different mule, weird huh?



Ok, I will go along with what ever the group says in regard to limiting rooms, since I'm one of the people with the most rooms; however, frankly I was looking to add more of my rooms to it. I wanted to have one of each kind of room.

If it is getting too long as I need to remove some rooms to make way for others who aren't on yet, I will do that. CoughCoolghoul is also thinking of leaving only one of his rooms on the river and putting the rest into its own circle. Just let me know, since i have (I think) EIGHT rooms on it! LOL I can leave my favorite one (or two?) on it....and put the rest with ccg's.

Would it be possible to pick a halfway point to put another special teleporter to the Special Teleporter Room? That way if someone crashes at least they could jump back on at the halfway point.
I don't know how many times I've crashed because I forgot to log on anew before I ran it, or I got dumped at the door because two of us came through a river teleporter at the same time. And of course it's always the room that is either blocked at the door or does not have an entrance square on the river.

Earlier I did post a few rooms that needed a way to get back on the river from the door. I saw many more the other night, but did not keep track of them since I was busy keeping up with Empare and trying to chat (so annoying when you are going thru 'porters!)

....I actually "borrowed" the idea of having a river go by over head looking down on a hang-out area, I can't remember who it was, but somewhere early on in the thread said they wished we could put rivers on torches and stuff, so the riders could go overhead without the crates being in the way (said something about it would be cool to eliminate the bottom crates so the walls below could be used). That is where I got the idea. By all means, if you want to do it too, go right ahead! I think everyone gets ideas from other people's rooms. So, was your dream about my room exactly? LOL. I think the Malificent's fortress is the easiest to do this in b/c of the flat walls. I just wish I had used gray crates to fit in better with the walls. I just already had a lot of brown ones, but whatever. The new rooms are looking great!

And yes, please PLEASE if you don't have a way to get to the river again from the door, fix it! I will ride it again when I have the time and make my list longer. I know the "cave in" part (RanierEars I think?) is one that I got bumped to the door on with no way back on. Also think about other places in the room where someone could jump off and have no way back on, besides the entrance. I am going to check all my rooms again to make sure that you can get back on from anywhere.

I really like what everyone has done with their river rooms. I have hesitated to join simply because my own river goes through 26 of the Blue Castle family's rooms already in a continuous loop and I shudder to even THINK about adding it in its entirety.

Perhaps, for those of us with huge existing kingdoms already, we could tie a single room in as a "tributary" and then guests could either continue on or hop off to explore. The problem I see with that is the guests not being able to find their way back to the "tributary" room.

You could put in your signature which side of the room is Dis and which side is personal. Or put some color of a specific item by the entrance of one and another color of that item by the other entrance. And, also put a picture above each side telling which is which. Of course then we have to post it so everyone knows what is going on!

Not exactly, it was in the pirate prison room and only on one wall. But there was a wall of crates with a river on top and a bunch of trees in front so that you couldn't tell they were on the crates. People were riding on the river looking down on the people on the ground who were sitting, dancing and talking.
