Dis Mom's Club?

I am so ready for summer. 3 weeks of school left! I'm working a condensed schedule this summer. Same amount of hours but compacted into 4 days rather than 5 days. I'm also off a week before school starts again! DH is doing the same but off a different day so we only have to pay for part time child care. On his day off he plans taking them to the zoo and on mine I plan to take them to Holiday World. We also plan to take them to Mammoth Cave, Huber Winery, and other fun stuff. My mom may take them a few days & maybe my inlaws. We may try camping in the back yard Bc both DD want to camp. My DH isn't big on camping & I haven't camped since we were dating. Of course my youngest DD will still have softball & my oldest DD will have dance/ theater. By summers end I will be whooped! Then I will go back to a 5 day work week, an easier schedule. Then 9 weeks after school is back in session then it's WDW BLT MNSSHP (2nights) and Epcot one day. We are 3 parks max people in a 6 night trip. :wizard:

Wow, 3 weeks left of school? Lucky you! School ends here on June 15th!

Thanks for the welcome :goodvibes

My daughter and I watched the Boo To You parade on YouTube today - she now wants to go to the Halloween party. My husband said that I was trying to influence her decisions :rotfl:

I think she'd have fun - but we'll see if we can fit it in.

We have been to MNSSHP twice...the kids (and mommy of course :lmao:) loved it! Definitely a must-do :thumbsup2

As far as MNSSHP, do you have your kids sleep later? I'm just not sure how long she'll be able to stay up before getting really cranky.

We sleep later then swim then nap then go! My girls love it.

Yes, school is out in 3 weeks. We started school the 2nd Wed in August and only had one snow day this year.

Hi:wave2:, I'm Cm8 and would like to also join the DMC :yay:. I'm too tired to write out everything, so here's a prelude, I'm married , we have kids, we're both MD's and we love WDW and hope to buy into the GF DVC when it's ready:rotfl:.

Eeyore, I think Ryder is so cute and I can totally relate to having gone through a traumatic birth as I recently had my own back in December. My DD was also born not breathing and had a NICU stay of 7 days, she was actually discharged before I was but she was able to room in with me until I was discharged:lovestruc We were both on Antibiotics as well, I was on 4 and she was on 3. By God's grace we made it and I could not ask for more:worship::goodvibes

We'll be staying at POP Monday-Thursday night, and Friday night at the Poly! Maybe we'll run into each other :goodvibes
Maybe! I think we're having breakfast at Ohana on Thursday...juuust missed you guys!

 Hi! Oh dear, so glad to hear that you and your DD are well. Both of my boys were in the NICU. My first son was born at 35 1/2 weeks (after trying unsuccessfully, luckily, to come at 33 weeks) and second son was born at 36 1/2 weeks. DS3 went right to the NICU because of how early he was born and he had some issues with dsats and such, he was there for 5 days and had to come home with a heart monitor for a month. DS11months was initially supposed to stay in my room and be released with me because he was doing really well but after my nurse gave him his first sponge bath she noticed he was turning blue so they observed him and decided to bring him to the NICU, he was there for 8 days, on oxygen and eventually had some jaundice issues. Everyone was really supportive, but I must say it's hard for people to really understand where I'm coming from unless they've had a child in the NICU. The hardest thing I ever had to do was leave the hospital without my children. The first time I was actually able to stay the whole time. With my second I came home after 3 days just for the nights because it was hard for my older son and I certainly didn't want any of that experience rubbing off on him negatively.

Woah, kinda long post but my heart just goes out to anyone that's had a child in the NICU. I'm so blessed that my kids were only in there for the short time they were. The little girl next to my son was going on her third month and still wasn't feeding on her own because she was born at 26 weeks. Poor little angels, here's to kids getting strong and healthy! pixiedust:

Hi! I'm new to this thread as well (I see there are a few that have just joined :thumbsup2). My name is Helen and I am 31 years old, have been married to my husband for almost 12 years. We have four beautiful children: Larry (11), Joshua (9), Breann (will be 8 next week!) and Isabella (3). I absolutely love all things Disney, and am currently preparing for a trip from Aug. 27-31, and visiting my in-laws (they live an hour away from WDW).

Hi ladies!! :flower3:

mommys3, where are you staying? We'll be there Aug 26-31 at AKL!

Looks like August will be a busy time. We are there from the 19-29. We will be at the Boardwalk.

Thank you.

Sorry about your DD and you. I would have gone crazy staying in the hospital more than a week. Glad they let her stay with you while you were there.

I agree that the hardest thing was leaving the hospital without DS. I think it was harder because we have the other two kids. We wanted to keep things "normal" for them but spend as much time in the hospital with Ryder. The worst part was Ryder had a roommate for a few days and his parents were a piece of work. We were not allowed to have the other kids at the hospital until he left because his parents complained my kids were talking.

I was so overwhelmed at the number of babies in the NICU while we were there and more just kept coming. My heart hurt every time they prepared another room. I am grateful for the doctor who was there the night he was born and the entire nursing staff. I have a friend that was considering a home birth until Ryder was born.

Oh I'm so envious of your long trip! I haven't been able to convince DH to go that long before.

I can relate to that because we had an older son too and my parents and in laws would alternate staying at our house with him, after the first two nights, DH went home to stay with home at night, he'd been going to visit during the day previously to try and keep things somewhat normal too. I always felt so torn leaving the NICU and would cry and cry because I felt like a terrible mother for leaving my sweet little baby boy but when I was at the NICU I would cry because I felt awful for leaving my older son. Mommy guilt is fun, isn't it? I'm so sorry that your kids weren't really able to be in there. That's really a shame and unfair to your family.
After both kids were in the NICU DH and I discussed home births too and although everyone is obviously able to have their own opinions, we just couldn't imagine having a home birth considering how much help both kids needed immediately and our nurses and doctors were wonderful too. Just knowing that the services are right there was a comfort.

I'd love to join - I'm currently a DISmom to be - our first baby is due August 4th.

I've been obsessed with Disney for quite some time. I was a merchandise hostess at Magic Kingdom in Tomorrowland for the WDWCP in 2001. Wrote my bachelor's capstone thesis for History on Walt Disney's Defense of American Culture, have vacationed numerous times to both DL and WDW - first cruise in one year....and have a huge collection of the classic Disney cartoons. I just can't get enough.

Right now I'm in Utah - hubs is stationed here and I'm working on my PhD in Conflict Analysis and Resolution. Hoping to teach at the college level when I finish. There are days I wish I would have gone into the travel industry though - just so I could focus all of my energy on Disney fun.

 Your thesis sounds awesome...I actually wouldn't mind reading it sometime, that sounds really interesting! You'll love the cruise, we went as part of our honeymoon and I loved it...that means a lot coming from me because I'm petrified of open water   and I HATE boats/ships/etc. I thought I was going to die taking the boat back to the Poly a few years ago, that's how bad I am haha, but anyway, I really enjoyed it and it was so beautiful. Castaway Cay is phenomenal (assuming your going to the Bahamas, but I suppose I shouldn't assume haha).

DH wants me to become a travel agent or at least start charging people when I help with their Disney planning but I love it so much, it's like a hobby, I can't imagine charging friends...maybe if I start helping people I don't know...But I hear you on that, I wish I could wake up thinking Disney all the way through bed time, I usually do actually, but it would be great to get paid for it!

Congratulations on the baby!!!

Hi DISmoms!

I haven't checked in with you guys in a long time! I hope everyone is doing well and planning magical trips to WDW!!!

School year is almost over! What plans do you have for the summer???

My name is Nicole, and my family will be making its first trip to WDW from September 15-21. It will be me (32), DH (37), DS (4), and DD (2). My folks will be joining us to enjoy the kids first trip. It will also be me and DH's 10 year wedding anniversary.

DH works in the finance industry, and I am a SAHM. I am super excited about our trip and have been planning and researching it for well over a year.

DS, Damien, is my super curious, super serious boy. He is not fond of change, loud noises, but loves Mickey Mouse, Lightning McQueen, Mater, Buzz Lightyear, and Stitch.

DD, Zara, is my feisty, fiery red head. She is the odd one out in our family or brunettes, but loves all the attention it gets her. She is loud and adventurous and is not afraid of anything. She loves Rapunzel, Ariel, Cinderella, Jessie, Minnie Mouse, and Mater.

We went to a great party for KY Derby. I picked 2 nd & 3 rd place and youngest dd picked 1st. Bourbon, Derby Pie, cucumber sandwiches, and lots of other great food. Great friends. Good day. Tomorrow is youngest dd 1st Communion, reception, & dinner.

I've been rather quiet. Don't have any firm plans of when we will head back to Disney, but I so miss it. And it seems everyone I know is doing Disney this year. Wanh!!! We are doing a trip to Canada to visit family for 2 weeks, so I shouldn't complain too much, and we did go back in October.

Anyway I'm trying to figure out the next best dates to go back to Disney. We prefer low season, so we have to fit around the school schedule. So I'm thinking the October break is still our best choice, that or the first week of January. But this new years on a tuesday, the parks might be crazy all week. I'm just miffed at the school for changing the October break from a week off to a thurs, fri and mon long weekend. I'm thinking I'll just pull my DD out for the Mon-wed and just deal with missing 3 days of school. We could even stay till the monday and get a nice long vacation. I'm hoping they change it back to a full week next year and it solves all my problems. Yeah it looks like 2013 we will go back. I'd go back this year, but just don't think the budget can swing it. It would probably save us a few $$'s as DS would be only 2 and not 3 like next year.

Anyway welcome to all the new faces.

Invading a moment to wish all The Dis Mom's A Happy Mother's Day hope you all have a Magicial one:goodvibes
