Dis Mom's Club?

Hi! I would love to join your thread.

I'm Kyra - 31, married for 7 years to hubby and have one daughter who is 3. I have been to the World once when I was 10 and dh and dd have never been. We are going on our first trip this September and I am SO excited!!

Thanks for the welcomes! I'm so happy to be a Dis Mom!

So other Dis Moms are you doing what I'm doing today?

Running around cleaning up after the kids, doing laundry, thinking about ADRs and jumping on the disboards here and there as you walk by the computer?!

I would love to join too!

My name is Melissa, I'm 33, & I'm a SAHM. I've been married 6 years, and we have 2 daughters- ages 5 & 1.

supersuperwendy- Yeah, pretty much! Home with the kids, & on the agenda is: laundry, dishes, cleaning bedrooms, and obsessing over Disney stuff. :)

:welcome: to all the new moms! It looks like we've had a rush in the last few day! party:

I'm about to start the worst chore ever :laundy: and then some vacuuming, but other then that I did most of it yesterday!

I'm taking a break from Disney planning :scared1:, because we're going on our first ever camping trip next weekend! We figured we need to get a couple of camping trips under our belt before we hit the fort in August. This first trip will be interesting to say the least... Not sure if my DH and DD13 will make it, they may hit a hotel after the first night. :lmao:

Thanks so much for all the welcomes! I wish I could say I was at home today, but I'm at work -- thinking about all the :laundy: and cleaning up I should be doing -- but I'm thinking about shirking it all to take ds to see POTC4 Saturday afternoon!

I am at an impasse with Disney planning -- I'm either going to run the WDW Half marathon in January, or the Princess in Feb., and I can't decide which, which means I can't make any plans...but I am thinking about resubscribing to the Food Porn thread (if that's still running!). I need to do something to keep me in planning mode, it's where I'm happiest

Most of my days consist of Disney obsessing and of course:laundy:

My name is Jeanette, I am a part-time ER nurse (mostly weekends and nights) and a fulltime Mommy:goodvibes

I have 6 children,

Eric (19) he lives with his GF and works very hard, lesson learned for moving out at 18;)

Brandon (10) 4th grade, Madison (6) 1st Grade, Kaitlyn (5 next Saturday) starting Kindergarten in Sept, Brianna (4), and Brian (2 1/2)

All my kiddos are DisCrazy too, we are working on DH, but he always comes along for the ride:lmao:

We are going in August, and I am planning a November trip next year to see the decorations. I am enjoying your thread:thumbsup2

I would rather be at home with the kids, cleaning, doing laundry and all the other household things.

I am at work now. But obviously not really working.

I have just started to run and was thinking about the Princess Half Marathon in February as well. Don’t know if I can pull it off or not.

I'm at home also doing dishes, cleaning up the house. And trying to keep up with my 3 year old son. I wish I had half of his energy! I really should be packing since we are only a few weeks away from closing on our house & moving. There's always tomorrow, right? :rolleyes1

So for all you runners out there, what's the best way to train for a half marathon? I've recently had the urge to get back into running after a loooooooooooong hiatus, like over 15 years! I think if I could plan to do one of the Disney half marathons it would give me something to work towards. I know step 1 is getting off my butt and actually to START running. Any pointers for this lazy mom who needs to whip it back into shape?

I'm starting couch to 5k so I admire you for going for a 1/2 marathon. I read the W.I.S.H. Board bc it has all the runners & biggest loser info. I get on Everything Pooh Size bc I am overweight. Good luck.

Thanks! I'll check things out over there. I did a 5k way back when. I would look to do a few before going for the 1/2 marathon. And probably try a 10k too. The big issue is if my knees will hold out. I already tore up one in high school playing soccer. The other one has been sore after doing Zumba. Running might be too much, but I'll give it a shot.

I wanted to do the Princess family 5k this past Feb, but things were just to crazy. I've made it a goal to do it this year, no matter what.

My best advice is to start slow, and don't try to do too much too quickly. Oh! And get good shoes that are the right kind for your feet -- it's worth that visit to the running store! I trained for a year before I did my first half in 2008, or at least I thought I did. Turns out I was so out of shape and not really prepared, but I finished anyway! I'm still in the process of getting to a healthy weight, but the running really helps. It's "Me" time, it helps relieve stress, and I feel so powerful when I get a medal! The Disney races are awesome, I cannot say how much fun, camraderie, and good times I've had doing them, and meeting WISHers from the DIS!

Thanks, I definately know about good shoes. I have orthotics and can't even walk without them or I get shin splints. YOUCH! I am due for a new pair of running shoes. A friend whose DH just ran the Disney marathon this year went to a place where they can analyze your foot and recommend the right shoe. I'll have to check them out.

In 2007 we got to the World on the day of the marathon and saw everyone with their oh so cool medals! I would love to have one of those. I don't know if I could ever do a whole marathon, but a half I might be able to hack.

Maria, do they give out medals for the Princess 1/2 Marathon? If so can you post a pic of yours? I have never seen one.

I just found this thread and would love to join it if you will have me.
I'm Kate married to John (8 years) with sons Jack (will be 6 in June) and David (4). I am a nurse but, due to circumstances beyond my control, have been a SAHM for about 2 years. DH is a computer nerd for a living (please, don't ask what he does cause I have no idea).
I have to admit that I came to recognize my Disney addiction later in life than most. I have always loved the movies and music of Disney, but my first trip to WDW was when I was 30. My DH took me to WDW for a combined 5th anniversary/nursing school graduation trip. Oh, and to celebrate passing my NCLEX. We left the children with my parents (thank God for Gram and Papaw) and went on a grown up trip where we ate and drank and laughed and toured like commandos. Aside from missing the kids (I SWEAR I missed them), it was the best 7 days ever! :thumbsup2 By the morning of the second day, I had decided that we HAD to come back and bring the boys.
A year later we did bring the boys-and my parents and DH's mom and my sisters! We bought DVC on that trip, and I was so excited that I skipped around for days singing, "We bought some Mouse!" Yep, I'm a big nerd! We have been lucky enough to go back with the kids several times in the last 3 years.
DH has gone from being "meh" to really getting the whole Disney thing. He claims he really prefers Warner Bros. cartoons-foolish man that he is. He only took me on the first trip because he thought I might like it. Now he gets as excited as I do. He's a DisDad, too. He no longer has to plan the trips solo-because I am obsessed!
Both the boys are DisNuts. They ask almost daily when we are going back, and to keep themselves "in the mood" they use our furniture to "build" their favorite attractions! It's hilarious! Who knew that our couch would double as ToT or HM?
Anyway, I'm babbling...It's nice to meet all of you.

Yes! They defnitely give you a medal for the Princess! It appears as though they change the color of the ribbons and crystals in the medal every year. The Innaugural year they were purple, in 2011 they were Tinkerbelle Green.

Now here is my dirty secret -- I don't know how to post photos...

It is a beautiful gold medal that looks like a crown, with colored crystals for jewels. It's really pretty, and believe me, you will want one! I will see if I can get one of my buddies who knows how to post photos to put one on this thread...

I've never been a runner, but I really want to run this. I know that I need to get some good running shoes, and there's even a specialty store here that will analyze you and determine which shoes would be best. Other than getting the good shoes, can someone tell my how to even start a running program?
