Hi Moms! We returned Monday from our trip to Disney! And let me just say what an awesome time we had. The weather was mid-80s, blue skies and sunny the whole time. This was a trip my husband won at work, so we got to stay at the GF. What a treat that was. Our room faced MK so we saw fireworks from our room every night and watched the castle turn colors all night long! It was such a special trip. The boys got to dance with Mickey in one of the parades and a CM at one of the stores got a Toy Story book that they bought autographed by the Toy Story gang. That was SO incredible, I couldn't believe it! The MNSSHP was really fun and we got tons of candy! The lines weren't that bad all week. Couldn't have been a better trip. Well, maybe it could have it'd have been another 7 days or so! Ah, but never look a gift horse in the mouth, right! I've only been twice, but I think I left a little piece of my heart with Mickey! Oh how I love that place!

Let me start this story by saying that I am a Social Worker and therefore I overreact to everything.

I have a friend with a 16 year old son that has been giving her a hard time. Who knew teenagers did this? She took it over the top and decided that normal discipline techniques did not work and would threaten to kill herself. The teenager called me and I called her and she confirmed the story. I called the police. Note to everyone: I will call the police if needed. The police of course did nothing. Very long story short after 18 hours of stress and worrying about her she came to her senses and told me what was going on. There was lots of yelling about how she is never to do that again.

Then an hour later...my DS thought it would be fun to play on the monkey bars at my DD school as we were picking her up. 2 minutes before she was released he fell off the monkey bars and was stopped by his forehead. Rushed him to the nurses off and they called 911. He had a little ride in an ambulance to the ER and has star treatment. He has 6 stitches in his forehead but should be healthy in a few days. I as a mother freaked out but kept it together for my son.

I would like a break from all the excitement. I should take an unscheduled trip to WDW.

Wow! Two different sides of the spectrum. I'm a social worker and over the years I overreact less and less as time goes by. But after reading this I will recommend you take a much needed WDW vacation!

Life has been getting crazier and crazier these days...

I applied to the Disney Mom's but didn't make it to the 2nd round. Maybe next year.

We'll be closing on the house we're selling next week (Tuesday), then we leave for our renewal cruise (Thursday). When we return we move in with our in-laws until our new home is finished in December.

I'm just exhausted...

Welcome!! I have 4 yo old twins. I always think triplets would be way harder since I only have 2 hands. A friend has 11 yo triplets and another friend has 2 yo twin girls and 2 month old twins. So yeah, I had it easy.

I have been thinking if I could do Disney alone with the kids. Last trip I took them to DHS for a day and it went great. But I don't know if I could do a whole trip! I think I especially need help for the airplane!!

Triplet are not much hader to deal with then twins... just an extra one Isn't it crazy how so many people have multiples.

I find myself overreacting in my personal life more than at work. But I do overreact when it comes to the kids in my care. I have decided that if I ever stop overreacting it is time to find a new career. I love my job most days because I know that in time a difference is made.

I agree about the vacation but with the craziness of my life I have no time. I keep thinking December can not get here fast enough and I NEVER say that because I live in Wisconsin and that means the dreaded S word but this time it also means Disney. I am so torn.

A friends little boys, Colton, from Chilton, WI, is 10 years old, has blood & bone marrow cancer for the second time (newly relapsed in ...September), and has a birthday wish! Here is his info & our mission:

"Colton was diagnosed with Pre-B Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on Dec 28, 2007. He entered remission Jan 25, 2008 & had been fighting the good fight! On Aug 18, 2010, our doctors at St. Vincent's found abnormal cells in Cole's spinal fluid. On Sep 23, 2010, our worst fears were confirmed. Cole suffered Pre B Acute Lymphoblastic Isolated CNS Relapse."

Colton is 10 years old and even made a list of things to do (bucket list) before he gets old.... One of his goals this year for his birthday is to receive a card from every state for his 11th birthday on November 18, 2010. I was wondering if you guys could help with his dream! He is from Wisconsin and is currently in the hospital again undergoing cancer treatment. Please could you send a card from your state?! We can totally make this happen!

This is a very courageous little boy!!
He is only 2 days older than my son and looking at the pictures really hit home for me. I am so blessed to have 3 healthy children!
My brother had leukemia and was only 17 when diagnosed. This Nov. 2nd would have been his 30th. birthday. And my mom just finished her last round of radiation for breast cancer, now still fighting the effects of the chemo. I think everyone had been touched by cancer somehow but it's so much harder when it's a child.

Thank you for posting Colton's story here. We will be praying for him and his family.

What does your children's school (s) say about them missing to go to Disney? My kids went to private up until this year and they didn't seem to mind. We are now in public and I haven't chanced it, yet. A couple we know took their kids (same school as ours) out to go WDW for about 5 school days but I haven't had a chance to ask them. My husband wouldn't think twice about it but I hesitate.

The school district is understanding of family vacations and to some degree encourage them. We told her teacher at the open house before school started about the trip and her teacher was thrilled about the trip. Said that she feels kids learn so much from family trips (even more than what she would learn in school). Ultimately, it would not have mattered to me. She is in kindergarten and is doing very well so I think that her missing a week will not hurt her. I would maybe hesitate if she were struggling in school but I am also planning on taking her out for a few days next year around teacher convention days.

Our school system(we have 3 in school and one preschool) has never said anything negative about us taking our kids out for WDW, but we have found that once our kids hit 7th grade, the make-up work/grade suffering is just not worth taking them out for more than a day or two...so my advice is ENJOY IT WHILE YOU CAN!!!!!!

We are back from our trip to WDW. We had an amazing time. We stayed in the treehouses, which I would do again. Is a three bedroom excessive for a family of 4?

I know that my DH will do a trip report soon so if you would like I can keep you posted.

I know we're Mom's but I thought with all of you experts this might be the place to go! I have already looked at the Solo forums but it wasn't really what I am looking for....

DH and I will be visiting the Mouse without kids...
We looked at several options like Vermont, Colorado, up North,...
and have decided to go to Disney World for our 20th anniversary in October. (I got a room-only pin, which helped with the decision ) Food & Wine Festival, here we come!

When we go with our kids we only do kids/family stuff and for this trip we want to do some "grown-up" things...
We will do the Segway at Epcot one morning.
Either Jellyrolls or YeeHaw Bob one evening.
Maybe a carriage ride at Port Orleans...
Eat at California Grill.
Actually relax at the pool.

So, what other things have you done sans-children?

We have actually never gone without the kids, but we thought about it for our 10th anniversary. We had thought about doing a spa day or afternoon. I think the spa at Saratoga Springs offers couples massages, if not check the spa at the Grand Floridian. And congrats on 20 years.

We've never gone without kids... but if we did:

We'd eat at places they can't be trusted at
We'd enjoy late, late, late EMH
We'd explore DTD
We'd see La Nouba
We'd spend even more time at the Epcot Countries
We'd Spa!

Oh yeah! Definately see La Nouba. It's amazing. If you get the catagory 2 or 3 seats you will be fine. The theater is not that big, and honestly if you are as low as the cat 1 seats you are below eye level of the stage. I think you definately have a better view sitting higher up.
