Great minds think alike! I was going to ask when you'd be there! I've got 3 rooms at the
Disneyland Hotel on the 17th and 18th for us and Dave and Lil, and then Jas and I are staying one more night. We should be able to watch the inauguration before we checkout, and then we'll go the port to board the ship.
Beth, Congratulations on the babies!!! They are simply perfect. I'm sure DDIL is so happy to have them out of her tummy and to meet them at last. I know it was a long process to bring them into this world, and I'm so glad everything worked out well.
I know I haven't been on here in awhile. Seems like the only time we're home lately is to unpack, and then pack up again. I'm not sure when I updated you last, so I'll be brief here to try not to repeat anything.
Our cruise on the Norwegian Jade was fun, I was really impressed with the ship and crew. I think a lot of it came from the Capt and his leadership. I kept seeing him ALL over the ship.
I flew back to the states for a quick New Years cruise on Carnival. It was fun for me, but in my opinion Carnival hasn't changed at all in the past 20 years. It's still a party cruise. And even though all the crewmembers I met were awesome, they only have a 3:1 ratio of pax to crew, so the service wasn't that great.
After our short DL visit we'll sail through the Panama Canal on the Coral Princess. (I got tired of waiting for a
DCL cruise through the canal). At 14 nights it'll be our longest cruise yet. I've got all of our tours booked ahead of time. We'll be zip lining in Costa Rica, climbing an active volcano in Nicaragua, touring a coffee plantation in Guatemala, going on a city tour in Cartagena, and off-roading in Aruba!
By the time we get back, I'll be a Lt Colonel (finally) so that pay raise will help to pay for all these trips!
And hopefully I'll find out this week where I'll be assigned next summer. I'll be sure to let you know as soon as I find out. It looks like we'll be back in the states, so I already talked to the Sis and Bro about doing another family cruise. Jas and I were supposed to be on the Inaugural sailing of the Oasis of the Seas in Dec 09. But now they've moved up the date, and we can go in June - when she's out of school - for what I've paid for the Dec date. And we can take advantage of the cheap Dec fares to do a Mexico cruise on Mariner of Seas! The Voyager class ships are awesome, and since everyone else is in So Cal they can just drive to the port. Mexico isn't really a tempting destination for us - having grown up in So Cal - but with that ship we won't want to get off anyway!
I'm glad to see everyone else is better than I am about staying in touch. Tina and Robby enjoy that puppy. Post some pics if you can get him to stand still long enough to take a photo!
Take care everyone!!
Wendy
