DIS Meet Dec 8 07

:goodvibes We can ALL benefit from that news!!!!!! My children are growing like weeds. Cole wore a pair of pajama bottoms last night that looked like capri pants. :lmao: Those pajamas have been "retired". ;)

:surfweb: Jennifer

Ok then...you can go to JCP also!! :cool1:

HE'S ON F-ING CRACK!!!!!! We just came home and he has yet to settle down. He keeps trying to bite me and I'm doing every thing I can to discourage him from doing that. Not to mention, ever since we let him out over an hour ago he keeps running around in circles through the house at 102 mph (I clocked him.) He's a little TERROR!!!! :headache: (BTW, F-ING stands for FREAKING)

LOL...well first of all...don't let them out of the kennel/crate until you have been home for 15 mintues. He is nuts cause he has been locked up. Mine is like that too. ANd yes...all puppies bite..that's what they watn to do. Everytime they bite..say ouch and no bite and give them a toy to chew on. If they insist on biting..kennel them again. It is gonna take a long while to train.

Also...google is your friend. There is so much info out there on puppy training!! Good luck!!

That's a good idea about not letting him out for the first 15 minutes. I haven't heard that one. Usually he hears me when I walk in and he's begging to be let out. Generally speaking, I try not to let him out until he's calm and not whining. Tonight was the first time that we've kenneled him as punishment. Everything I've heard says NOT to do that, because they want the crate to be a positive thing. But tonight we were like, "STICK HIM IN THERE!!!" :rolleyes1

:thumbsup2 Make sure to have lots of chewy things for him. Being a puppy, he is teething. I don't think YOU want to be a chew toy. ;) Also, he is happy to see you and have someone around to play with. They are like children and need attention. If they don't get it, they will do things to get attention (ie: bite or make a mess on the floor).

"Happy Parenting!" Having a puppy IS training for kids. However as they get older, dogs are better behaved than children! IMO :lmao:

I don't know, I've been trying that but it just seems like he hates me and all he wants to do is attack me. Every time he bites me I pull my hand back and give him a firm 'No'. Sometimes that works for a second, but then other times I give him a light tap on the nose when I say no. I have an older brother with a 6 y/o girl and he swears he has it easier than me. At least with his daughter, they were able to teach her the english language and tell her what to do. :rotfl:

Ditto that :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Beth I am pretty sure I have the inserts to the diaper genie, they are a few years old but they will get the job done (don't think trash bags expire). I can mail them to you if you would like them.
Thanks! I'll get back to you about it in a day or two. I still have to get back to Merryl on the arrangements to get the diaper genie!

We just had the most amazing news--the gang may be coming home today! I don't think I'm quite ready for that. The babies and mom are doing so well that the hospital says they can use the room for someone who really needs it. An interesting point...there were 17 babies born over the weekend, which is a huge number for this hospital. And only one of them is a boy! Keegan must have been in his glory with all those lovely young ladies.

As for puppy training--

We had great success training our Pomeranian (Anna) when we got her. She was an older dog, abandoned at the side of the road tied to a pole, and she was completely undisciplined and unhousebroken, and scared to death of people. Our vet suggested a spray bottle of water. The water won't hurt anyone, and the dogs (works for cats, too) don't like the idea of being sprayed. We keep a spray bottle in plain sight at all times, and we have no problems now, even with 8 cats and three dogs! Maybe we should use the same method for potty training the babies when it's time?:rotfl2:

Sounds like our GrandDog! :scared1: The running part. He doesn't bite. He is a sweetie, a wild sweetie.

Say NO BITE... When mine bites I say no bite and give her a toy. If she is in agressive play/bite mode..I lock her in her kennel.

 I thought Wendy posted, she would be at DLR this year. Does anyone remember when? I can't find the post. It's hard to keep up with that woman's vacations. I've joked in the past that she needs to write a book. But, she really does need to write something about all her wonderful adventures. :goodvibes

Great minds think alike! I was going to ask when you'd be there! I've got 3 rooms at the Disneyland Hotel on the 17th and 18th for us and Dave and Lil, and then Jas and I are staying one more night. We should be able to watch the inauguration before we checkout, and then we'll go the port to board the ship.

At 6:39 AM, DGD Brigid entered this world at just over five pounds. Two minutes later, DGS Keegan joined her at just over 5 1/2 pounds.
Beth

Beth, Congratulations on the babies!!! They are simply perfect. I'm sure DDIL is so happy to have them out of her tummy and to meet them at last. I know it was a long process to bring them into this world, and I'm so glad everything worked out well.

I know I haven't been on here in awhile. Seems like the only time we're home lately is to unpack, and then pack up again. I'm not sure when I updated you last, so I'll be brief here to try not to repeat anything.

Our cruise on the Norwegian Jade was fun, I was really impressed with the ship and crew. I think a lot of it came from the Capt and his leadership. I kept seeing him ALL over the ship.

I flew back to the states for a quick New Years cruise on Carnival. It was fun for me, but in my opinion Carnival hasn't changed at all in the past 20 years. It's still a party cruise. And even though all the crewmembers I met were awesome, they only have a 3:1 ratio of pax to crew, so the service wasn't that great.

After our short DL visit we'll sail through the Panama Canal on the Coral Princess. (I got tired of waiting for a DCL cruise through the canal). At 14 nights it'll be our longest cruise yet. I've got all of our tours booked ahead of time. We'll be zip lining in Costa Rica, climbing an active volcano in Nicaragua, touring a coffee plantation in Guatemala, going on a city tour in Cartagena, and off-roading in Aruba!

By the time we get back, I'll be a Lt Colonel (finally) so that pay raise will help to pay for all these trips!

And hopefully I'll find out this week where I'll be assigned next summer. I'll be sure to let you know as soon as I find out. It looks like we'll be back in the states, so I already talked to the Sis and Bro about doing another family cruise. Jas and I were supposed to be on the Inaugural sailing of the Oasis of the Seas in Dec 09. But now they've moved up the date, and we can go in June - when she's out of school - for what I've paid for the Dec date. And we can take advantage of the cheap Dec fares to do a Mexico cruise on Mariner of Seas! The Voyager class ships are awesome, and since everyone else is in So Cal they can just drive to the port. Mexico isn't really a tempting destination for us - having grown up in So Cal - but with that ship we won't want to get off anyway!

I'm glad to see everyone else is better than I am about staying in touch. Tina and Robby enjoy that puppy. Post some pics if you can get him to stand still long enough to take a photo!

Take care everyone!!

Merryl (okay is it Meryl or Merryl?) and Beth,

How far are y'all from The Hudson River? I am so amazed that the US Airways plane crash didn't have any casualties. ::cop: That pilot was amazing. Also, the rescue team was really on-top of everything and got everyone off the wing in a timely manner. It really was a "Miracle on the Hudson River".

Wendy,

Glad to hear you are doing well and keeping busy as usual. Congratulation on your promotion! That is exciting news. I'm glad to see a woman in such a high position. You deserve it! You do all your fellow "female sisters" proud! :grouphug:

pixiedust: Have a great trip(s). I can't wait to hear about them. Especially DLR, as we will soon be there. Please give me your honest opinion on DLH. It will still give me time to change it if you are disappointed.

Keep in touch! :flower3:

Tina - I saw this when I was looking for a Valentine's clip art and thought of you ...
