Brack - We'll be up your way the latter part of this week.
My Mom called this morning and my step Dad passed away this morning. They were in PA visiting his family for Easter and he just started breathing heavy. So, they called 911. By the time the paramedics arrived and tried CPR, he had passed. He was in his mid 50's. My Mom is waiting on the coroner to release his body before she heads home to VA. She is staying with his family. So, at least she is not alone right now. They are helping with the funeral arrangements and getting my step Dad's body back to VA for the funeral. Bill left this morning to WA on business. My Mom called while he was in the air. So, as soon as he landed he called me (as usual). I had to break the news to him on the phone. He wasn't able to get a flight home from WA tonight. They were all booked. Same with all the flights on Tuesday. So, he had to take a plane to Houston and is sleeping in the airport until the first flight this morning. I pick him up from DFW airport at 9:50 am. We are heading to VA straight from the airport. I called every airline today regarding flights and bereavement fares. Even the lower rates are ridiculous. So, we are driving. We should be at my Mom's house on Thursday. The funeral will most likely be on Friday or Saturday. For the past year, we have been worried about my Grandma's (Mom's Mom) health. She has cancer. Honestly, I have been prepared for my Grandma's passing. But, the passing of my step Dad was very sudden and it all seems surreal. Please keep my Mom in your prayers. He was the love of her life and it will be very hard for her these next few months. They were to celebrate their 25th Wedding Anniversary in June. I know this June will be especially hard for her.
I need to finish packing and get some sleep. Everyone take care and cherish the time you have with your loved ones. You never know what tomorrow will bring.
