Dis MD: Roseola with no fever?

My DD had roseola almost exactly a year ago - 3 days of 103 fever that nothing would bring down, on the 4th day the fever was gone and she had a light pink rash all over her chest and back. Textbook case of roseola.

My DS had been inconsolably fussy for the past 3 days. He didn't have a fever (or if he did, it was mild, I never checked it with a thermometer). I attributed his fussiness to teething. Today, he is back to his cheerful self, and has a light pink rash on his chest. It does not appear to be itching or hurting him at all. Aside from the lack of fever, this sounds like roseola to me, in which case I do nothing, the rash goes away in 2-3 days and everything is back to normal. It doesn't look like any of the other typical childhood rashes, either. What do you think? Can you get roseola with no fever? (Don't worry, I'm putting in a call to the ped, but it might be a few hours before they get back to me.)

My son had roseola about 2 months ago. The highest his temp got was 100.1. He was pretty fussy for a few days before though. He never acted feverish - I took it on a whim.

It could be undiagnosed Strep throat. When my DD was three, I thought she had roseola ,so I took her in to the doctor. It turns out to be the rash associated with scarlet fever. Very low fever to no fever. One time .she said her throat hurt but no other symptoms. Luckily in today's world, it is cured with antibiotics.

I would be concerned about strep/scarlet fever also. The rash typically starts on the chest. My son was just diagnosed day before yesterday with strep and he hasn't had a fever at all. He normally gets a high fever with strep, but a couple of years ago he developed scarlet fever because we assumed his sore throat was caused by his seasonal allergies and didn't take him to a doctor early on since he hadn't had a fever. This time we were more proactive about going to the doctor because of that, and sure enough it was strep again. I'd probably take him in for a quick test just to be sure it wasn't strep, since untreated strep can lead to some much more serious problems.

Pediatrician called back, and said to call them again if he gets a fever, starts refusing to nurse/eat, starts acting lethargic, or the rash becomes raised, weepy, or itchy.
