Tammy, I went to the gym today, I am up one on you!

Probably 2 by now...but look out girl, I'm coming for YOU!!! :rotfl:

I didn't lose, didn't gain, so I'm not thrilled but I'll do better next week :thumbsup2 .

WAY TO GO!!!! All of you who had losses!!! :yay: :cheer2: :yay: :cheer2:

And for those of us who didn't....saddle back up, it's time to get going!!

I'm going to try WW starting today, I'm hoping I can have some luck with that.

And for the journal keepers, I found this on the site Kat posted, I think it's a good idea, but I plan on making it fit me a little better.

Congrats all you losers! :thumbsup2 I am down about 8 tenths of a pound, but down, nonetheless. When I add that to last week's loss, I am down just over 3 pounds which is a good rate of loss for me.

We start out Thursday night at Boma, so this isn't going to be easy. :guilty:

Kat--I went solo to Boma back in July. I treated the meal as a multicourse event. I first had appetizers. I took only about a tablespoon of the items that appealed to me. I then moved on to soup. I think I liked 2 out of 3, so I took about a tablespoon full of each of the ones I liked. Next up was salad. Same deal--about a tablespoon full of each thing that appealed to me. I did the same with the other vegetables and meats. Just a tablespoon to try each of the things I thought I would like. Then, I did go back for a few items I really thought were yummy. I topped it off with a zebra dome for dessert. I went out feeling satisfied, not stuffed.

If you have not already done so, you may want to try the culinary tour. It begins at Jiko and ends at Boma. The nice thing is that they explain all of the food to you. It usually starts right before they open Boma for dinner. You don't have to be an AKL guest to do the tour.

Anyway, after a 12 day trip to WDW and Universal, I came home about a pound lighter then when I left.

Dress for Weight Loss Success
Show Off Your Favorite Parts

-- By Elizabeth Evans Fryer, Health & Fitness Writer

Each of us has a favorite body part – or we should. Perhaps you have one, or several, areas you think are worth accentuating. If you do feel that way, then good for you. As you get closer to your fitness/health/weight loss goals, you will likely want to show off more of your body, highlighting your best features:

Thin wrists? Wear some bracelets or bangles to show them off.

Great legs? Wear miniskirts at least twice a week.

High collar bones? Get yourself some scoop neck tops.

Tuck in that shirt and belt your waist if it’s something worth showing off.

Wear tanks or cap-sleeved tops to accentuate muscular arms and shoulders.

Cool pastels – think mint green, pale pink, and icy blue – highlight alabaster skin.

You can use colors to your advantage in other ways too. The single best use of color for a slimming effect is dressing from top to toe in one dark hue – like navy, brown or black. Did you ever wonder why school buses are yellow? It’s because that color is so eye catching. Dress up any body part you want to accentuate with brights like yellow, orange or hot pink while wearing dark colors on areas you want to draw the eye from; dark colors recede.

Have a nice, long neckline, but your hips are wider than you’d like them to be? Pair a canary V-neck tee with dark blue jeans.

Proud of your shapely shoulders and lean legs but think you’re top heavy? Wear a high-necked black halter to show off your shoulders – while minimizing your chest – with a fuchsia mini to accentuate your gorgeous legs.

Other tips for dressing slim:

Opt for small patterns instead of larger ones and avoid wearing prints or patterns on top and bottom – that visually adds 10 pounds!

Get rid of anything you own that’s pleated – or at least relegate these clothes to gardening/painting/fishing pants. We women – most of us – have the typical hourglass figure with hips larger than our waists. When wearing pleated pants to fit our waists, the pleats splay out over our hips, creating extra space and making our lower abdomens appear larger than they actually are.

If you wear a jacket, make sure it’s fitted. A boxy jacket makes for a bulky you.

An “oldie but goodie” slimming rule is dressing in vertical stripes. Thin, vertical lines on jackets, shirts, pants, dresses and skirts creates the illusion of a longer, leaner you.

Beware the blue jeans. Wearing them high, accentuating your tiny waist, may be less than flattering from behind because the higher your wear them, the bigger your butt looks. Try to find a pair that sits relatively low on the waist – they don’t have to be Britney Spears-low – but the waistband should not be too far above the bellybutton. And skip the peg or tapered leg look. Instead go with a straight leg or boot cut, which will elongate the legs and keep your hips in proportion.
Take advantage of what you were given naturally and what you’ve worked so hard for. Dress to play it up. When you see your reflection, it’ll make you smile.

Update on the kitty. Since I forgot my $20  in my calculations last night and a non-competitor is offering a donation as well. Thank you undisclosed non-competitor. ;) Currently at $110.00 and $50.00.
Thank-you undisclosed non-competitor. :)

I lost 4 lbs again this week. I am stockpiling now for when I hit my first plateau.

Awesome! You go girl!!

And you too Becky!! That's great news for you both!! But Becky, I am so sorry about your foot! Wow, that must have really hurt. Poor thing. And I'll be thinking about you and Lilly this week as well.

Great work ladies!   It sounds like we are all shedding a lot of pounds. I did manage to loose one pound this week, not great, but after going off track this weekend, not to bad!

Thanks! I agree, congrats to everyone who either maintained or lost. :goodvibes

The foot thing is really starting to tick me off. And of course on the week that I have so much extra stuff to do. I need to take care of my laundry backlog and get everyone packed by Thursday when I have to drop off Luke & Kayleigh. Plus it's really nice out here, like 50º and I was hoping to get outside and really get in a good pattern with the walking but since i can barely drag myself around the house I guess not today. Hopefully the ice and ibuprofen takes the swelling down and I can get back at it soon.

Becky,

Everyone is doing great. Even those of you who might have gotten a bit off track, you've recognized it and you're moving on. That's what you've got to do to make the difference. :goodvibes

I am proud of myself. My Curves partner got sick and instead of just not going I did it, I went!

I have not been since a little after school started. Once dd started working nights again then I had to help the twins with homework and our Curves closes at 7 so its hard to get there.

Hopefully this means I will really get back on track and go back more often.

:woohoo: You're my hero!! Keep up the good work!

On a side note, do you have twins too? Boys? Girls? Both? Mine are boy/girl- Luke & Lilly :goodvibes

Good morning all. I hope everyone has a great day today.

I had a few people who didn't pm me their weight yesterday. I'm not sure if it was an oversight or your taking a pass this week so if you could PM one way or the other so I have you down, that would be great. :thumbsup2

Good Morning Ladies!!! :grouphug:

7 Comfort Foods that are Good for You
Feel Better While Staying Healthy

-- By Zach Van Hart, Staff Writer

Comfort – A condition or feeling of pleasurable ease, well-being, and contentment.

Food – A substance you consume to produce energy, stimulate growth, and provide nourishment.

Put these two words together and people dream of fudge sundaes, turn to pot pie for pick-me-ups and fall prey to many other kinds of eating rituals. This is the power comfort foods hold. Unfortunately, it seems that most comfort foods console us with extra fat, calories and other ingredients that lack great nutritional value. But not all comfort foods are made this way. Here are 7 Comfort Foods that are actually good for you. Check ’em out.

Yogurt (with fruit)

The frozen variety tastes pretty similar to its ice cream counterpart, only with less fat. By adding fruit, you’re only adding more minerals and vitamins. Cool and soothing, this comfort food is a perfect snack, yet tastes sweet enough to ease your pain.

Fruit smoothie

This is the perfect cure for anyone with a sweet tooth. Amazingly, even if you don’t normally like fruit, you will probably still enjoy this blend of fruit, juice and yogurt. It only takes a few minutes to whip up in your blender and is a cool and refreshing treat during a hot, summer day.

Chicken noodle soup

Would you rather have anything else when you’re sick? This blend of noodles, chicken chunks and veggies in a steaming hot bowl will take you back to your childhood. Remember to buy a brand with low sodium, or make your own at home.

Angel food cake

Sometimes, we all love a slice of cake. Warm and fluffy, every bite is better than the previous one. With angel food cake, you can enjoy a slice without feeling guilty about it later. Pretend it’s your birthday and have a slice, maybe even with some fat-free whipped cream.

Oatmeal

Forget caffeine-charged coffee; oatmeal is all you need for a hot breakfast that will leave you energized for hours to come. Packed with complex carbs, oatmeal is easy to make and much healthier than a sugary cereal you might otherwise eat. A steaming bowl of oatmeal will make mornings your favorite part of the day. Toss in some fresh fruit to get that sweetness you crave.

Vegetable juice

Sometimes you need that kick. Vegetable juices, such as V8 and others, have enough kick to play in soccer’s World Cup. A blend of many vegetables, including tomatoes, it’s great when you’re not very hungry or when you're on the go.

Crock pot creations (anything that’s healthy, anyway)

One of the greatest food inventions of the 20th century, a crock pot can seemingly take any combination of ingredients and turn them into a great meal. Slowly cooked, whatever comes out is hot and tastes great. Throw in healthy meats and a bunch of veggies to make this comfort food good for you.

    I thought I might stop at Chili's tonight on the way to work and get a salad for dinner. For good measure I looked at the nutritional info, thinking a salad would be relatively reasonable since it is my only real meal. Check it out -

It has 980 calories, and 48 grams of fat!!!
Quesadilla Explosion Salad w/ Ranch drizzle 1 Serving 980 48 22 81 58 11 2410

I won't be eating there anytime soon!

:faint:

I think that's a good reason to start planning my menus more! Who would have thought a salad was so bad :confused3

That's crazy about the salad! I guess that's why it pays to look thing up and not just assume

WoW! That's a lot for a salad. But I guess it makes sense.. Could you imagine how bad the rest of the food is? :rotfl: At least you looked it up before you went and got one Kendra. ::yes::

Kat, I like Angel Food Cake too. :teeth:

That's crazy with the salad! I checked out the rest of the menu and there are barely any choices for something relatively low in calories (unless you just want chicken noodle soup) or a couple things off the kids menu.

and I love Angel Food Cake - when you put it with strawberries and frozen fat free whip cream, it's even better - like cake and ice cream. :goodvibes
