DIS Ladies Only Trip 2007 WISH!

I had fried chicken tenders for dinner. made them myself.

I guess that's better than buying the ones at work.

Today I decided to wear a suit a have been neglecting because it was a bit snug. Well, today, it is not snug! It may even be a bit loose!

I think I will take that box of GS cookies out of my desk drawer and put it in the conference room. It will be gone in no time! Thanks, Joanne!

WOO HOO!!!! That is great, that you were able to get into something that you couldn't wear before! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

I just got the Girl Scout cookies I ordered a month ago and gave them all away.

That is excellent Joanne - you have saved yourself 100's of calories by getting rid of that temptation! :thumbsup2

That's excellent that you are already seeing results! I can't wait for that to happen - it's so motivating :cool1:

I did pretty good today. Although I didnt get breakfast in. I had to take the moment to run to the grocery store before DH had to leave for work. I did have left over spaghetti (sp?) though and then a banana.

So far so good. :woohoo:

Well at least missing breakfast didn't cause you to overeat Wendy so that is great :thumbsup2

I did good today too. I went to Tim Hortons and I was going to order the chili combo which comes with coffee, chili, large bun, butter, and a donut. Instead I asked him to keep the butter, give me a small bun and leave the donut on the shelf. I also put sweetener in my tea instead of sugar. I don't know what came over me - I was so ready to just go all out but something stopped me at the last minute.

Awsome self control Kelly!!! Everyone is doing such a good job. :woohoo: Just by not doing the things that we normally do is a good sign that we are changing our mentality about food. So encouraging!

After we had dinner lastnight I had a WW lemon snack cake, and then some tortilla chips and Salsa. Can you tell that chips and salsa are my faves? LOL! At least I'm not adding a ton of cheese on it to make nachos anymore.

That's great Kelly!

Those little changes all add up to a successful way of eating.:cool1:

That's right! Good job Wendy! :yay:

Is it true that lifting weights causes women to bulk up?

While on a weight lifting program, the right hormones (testosterone) are necessary in order to bulk up. Women’s testosterone levels are much lower than men’s, so in most cases, they are not capable of building large muscles. In fact, since muscle takes up less room than fat, women tend to lose inches when they strength train. So in addition to the physical benefits (increased metabolism, decreased risk of osteoporosis, increased strength), strength training will help you slim down too! Women, in fact, are more likely to tone up from strength training rather than bulk up. Research shows that women can add up to 30% lean muscle and end up looking thinner, feeling stronger and being firmer.

Our society and pop culture seem to associate weight training with oversized muscles, but that’s just one avenue, which is extremely difficult for most people (including men) to achieve.

Women with an intense fear of becoming large (likely due to these images and myths) as a result of weight training are at a disadvantage when it comes to their health. The problem most women run into isn’t building too much muscle, but not building enough. This sets them up for increased risk of osteoporosis later in life, as well as a reduction in muscle mass of about 2-5% per year, which has an adverse affect on metabolism (and can result in weight gain).

I think I have recreated a scaled down version of my favorite sandwich at Disney World. I LOVE the ham sandwich from Columbia Harbor House.

For my scaled down version, I used Weight Watchers Wheat Bread and Schneiders Fat Free Ham and low fat swiss cheese. For the broccolli slaw, I chop carrots, cabbage and celery in my blender and mix with a little bit of fat free miracle whip to spread on the sandwich.

I don't like a lot of meat on my sandwich and the coleslaw is free in points if you keep it under 1 Tbsp of the miracle whip so this sandwich works out to be only 2 -3 PTS (depending on the amount of ham used). :woohoo:

What!? No broccoli in the broccoli slaw?!:confused3 It is probably better that way, anyway. ;)

Way to go with the recipe modification. I did a similar thing with an egg mcmuffin for my son:

1 low cal, high fiber English muffin
1 slice of lean Canadian bacon
1 egg white
1/2 slice 2% milkfat American cheese

Toast the muffin and gently heat the Canadian bacon in a skillet sprayed with cooking spray. Then, fry the egg white in the skillet. Top the egg white with the cheese and let melt. Put all of this on the muffin.

My son prefers not to have the yolk on his sandwich, but for mine, I usually have the yolk. ;)

I also like egg yolks.. When my brother and I were kids we used to give each other our favorite parts of a hard boiled easter egg. I liked the yolks and he liked the whites. It worked pretty well. Until I stopped growing. :sad2:

Hello again!

So I had a bit of a weird accomplishment today. For some reason I was going to say the heck with healthy snacking today. I got a bag of shortbread cookies that I had full intentions of eating. Then realized that I needed a drink. So I set the bag down on the table and got some water. I later realized as I walking out the door to get DS from the bus that I had completely forgot about the cookies. Oo!! I guess I should be thankful for my forgetfulness. :teeth:

Actually, I have no idea why I typed celery  There is broccoli in there but no celery :rotfl:

Your recipe sounds good too :thumbsup2

Take it any way you can get it Wendy :thumbsup2 I bet you feel better about yourself this afternoon then you would have if you had eaten the cookies. :goodvibes

Hi ladies! Seems like everyone is finding ways to cut back :cheer2:

Wendy, where do you find the weight watchers lemon cakes? Maybe I just haven't seen them because I haven't looked.

I have done well this week, no sodas and all I have eaten all week has been dinner and a small bowl of cereal, no snacks. I just have not been hungry so I haven't eaten. I am going out to dinner tonight to Cheeseburger in Paradise, never been there so not sure how that will go. Sunday night we are going to Texas de Brazil, which I know I am going to eat a whole lot! All you can eat steak fresh off the fire, mmmm mmmm. BUT I will not have Brazilian cheesecake as I normally would, so I am going to chow down on the steak and feel okay about it.

I am going to the grocery store this weekend and buy a bunch of healthy foods for dinner next week, hopefully that will help me a lot too. Feeling much better about this week than last. I WILL do this!

:cheer2: Continued success and good luck to everyone :cheer2:

that brocolli sounds good (I HATE celery, with a passion!!!) We used to make brocolli slaw, buy the package and then mix with Italian dressing, it was really good and refreshing.

I used to make my own low fat "pizza" when I dieted before. English muffin with a little Ragu pizza sauce and low fat cheese. They tasted pretty good.

Wendy, where do you find the weight watchers lemon cakes? Maybe I just haven't seen them because I haven't looked.

I have found them at Wal-mart. They are in the snack cake section. They have lemon, chocolate (Which is -really- yummy!) and Carrot. I dont like the carrot cake one cause the frosting is too hard for my liking.

There are also, WW ice cream sandwiches and popsicles etc. Really yummy too. ::yes::

I've just recently started seeing the WW cakes around here at grocery stores. I haven't tried the lemon.

The chocolate ones are great for a 1 pt treat :thumbsup2
I DID NOT LIKE the carrot ones at all. The flavor was kind of disgusting. :confused3

It started snowing here - we have winter storm warning - must be coming across the lake from New York (thanks Joanne) - so I couldn't go outside for a walk. Instead Cassie challenged me to some stairclimbing. She used the stairs to the upper floor and I used the basement stairs. Daddy was our "lap" counter. She beat me and it was HARD! I only lasted 3 minutes 52 seconds (11 up/down) before my lungs begged me to stop. :guilty: Cassie did 15 up/down in the same time frame.

I am going to challenge Missy for the World's Greatest Aunt title (she'll still win out of sheer volume of nieces and nephews) and share a pizza with my niece and nephews tomorrow. Maybe I can let them eat most of it.

Sunday I will have prosciutto and arugula flatbread. For the week I will make salsa soup.

Next weekend I will make ingredients for these: http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,1977,FOOD_9936_25649,00.html
(but with chicken) and just eat one every night, with the
corn and bean salad:

I like Kelly's carrot scale.

I just got the Girl Scout cookies I ordered a month ago and gave them all away.

You Joanne, are my hero.
