I challenge everyone on the board to make a donation of whatever you can. This is a time of sadness, loss and destruction that this country has not seen for long time. Give what you can:

https://www.redcross.org/donate/donation-form.asp

Would love for everyone who does to post that they have (no amounts please) and let's make this the longest thread in the history of the board.

I'm giving to the Red Cross through my company. They are matching the funds.

I donated yesterday......let's keep this going.

YEs, done last night....Can not think of a better donation right now...And may I just add TONS OR PRAYERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :grouphug:

We get to wear jeans to work tomorrow for a donation and our company will match the funds too!!

Local radio stations are taking donations of bottled water, hygiene products, baby diapers, etc. and loading them up in 18 wheeler trucks!!

And my boss volunteered with his church to go serve meals with the Red Cross - I think that is so admirable! :cheer2:

I plan to help in many ways!!!

Done and Done.

Thanks for the link.

I wanted to do this but your link made it easier.

If everyone skipped one $4 drink per cruise and gave it to the Red cross that would come out to $10,000 per cruise.

C'mon everybody.

Jim

I have friends that live outside of New Orleans and they have no idea what has happened to there home or if it's still even there. They are safe in northern Miss., but can't get home to find out any information. Thanks to everyone who has made a donation and keep the prayers coming.

The way I worded that it may not sound like much, but we have 5000 associates and minimum donation is $5!!! And with the company match, that should be a very sizable gift.

I agree- I think that's a great idea. I just feel so helpless here. I"m glad companies are finding ways to help. Our company is in the process now of working with it's partners on the ground there to assess the situation and determine the appropriate disaster relief support. I'm so glad that company's help with all this.

Actually last night I was thinking that with all these houses that are going to be needed to be re-built there should be some kind of thing set up where people who know how to build houses, and companies (homebuilders, etc) come in and volunteer and donate materials to help the communites rebuild the homes. Just think if people donated thier time and could rebuild the houses on cost of materials alone. It sure would be a huge help to those who lost everything. I fear that many of them don't have hurricane insurance.

I think that it's fantastic that some of you have companies who are helping out! That makes a huge difference.

Thanks for starting this thread! :grouphug:

I would love to donate, but I can't get into the Red Cross's website. So maybe their website is busy with all of the people making donations! I'm going to keep trying though.

There is also 1-800-HELP-NOW if this is easier for some.. :grouphug:

My DH and I made our donation last night.

We have many friends in NOLA whose houses and/or businesses are under water. Some others ok as they live West of NOLA.

Had to cancel our October trip - it just made sense. These people will need to get their lives back and it will take some time.

Peace and Blessings to all in that suffered Katrina's wrath.
