Kate never dresses up for pirate night..doesn't bother her at all

Had a "chat" with her teacher yesterday..he sends a note home saying she got a checkmark for incomplete homework. Hmm..Kate says she missed the last question..come to find out that his first class isn't advanced enough to do the paragraph whatever so he put the additional question on the board AFTER her class came in and she wrote what to do...ok..long story short, I ask him "is it really necessary to give a checkmark for missing a question?? It isn't like she just disregarded doing the assignment and by the teachers own admission, many kids missed the additional assigment..WTH! Kate was hysterical because too many checkmarks can cause you to lose your Safety Patrol belt..
I tell him "was it really necessary to give a checkmark to an A student???"
when he said "well, I have bigger fish to fry then Kaitlyn" he totally lost my respect..sorry you have a lot of fish to fry, but she is the only guppy i care about!!!

i forgot to say, he made the mistake of giving out his cell phone to all the parents at Open House night...I think he is regretting it because the parents that need to call aren't and nutcases like me are!!

Rick will be famous tonight..there was a fire in Coconut Creek today, mobile home burned down and they needed to interview someone. He is SOOOO not the interview type, but he was the only chief there so they used him.
The video isn't on the site yet..she told him it would be 5 or 5:30 so they probably won't put it up until after they air it. Too bad I don't get this station at home..it is in the Miami area and we don't get it on our cable!!

Just pulled the directions for this stoopid wedding on Saturday. It is on a farm in PA...48 miles...but it's seriously like 20 backroads to get there...estimated drive time is 1 hr 24 minutes. BAH! It is only supposed to be a high of 61 on Saturday (and "breezy"). Sigh. I am not happy about this.

Working on adding some extra weather stripping to our windows. DH bought like 6 rolls of the stuff the other day... Wheee!

Gerts Christmas Cruise pipe dream just went up in smoke. DH says Not Happening. Maybe 2012 he says. Not in this economy when we are facing having to decide to buy, rent or build.

I am always leery of recipes that say they are from a restaurant, but this is my favorite soup. I tried it tonight and WOW!!! It is awesome!!

(Tip - To make it quick for after work, i bought the pre chopped onions and celery and the package of julianne carrots - the entire grocery stop cost me $20 and i half it because it made 5qts )

here is the HALF receipe:

1 tsp oil
1lb ground beef (i used lean)
6oz chopped onion (the store had a 8oz package, i just used that)
14oz julianne carrots
7oz celery(store had 6oz package, again, just used that)
15.5 oz can diced tomatoes
1 cup dark kidney beans
1 cup white kidney beans
32 oz beef stock
1.5 tsp oregano
2.25 tsp pepper
3 tsp fresh parsley (i used flat leaf/Italian)
1tsp tabasco
26oz jar spaghetti sauce ( I used Ragu)
4oz ditalini pasta (looks like half an elbow macaroni..it is what OG uses DaVinci pasta make it in a small blue bag)

Brown hamburger in oil until starts to brown. Add onions, carrots, celery and tomatoes and simmer for 10 minutes. Drain and rinse beans and add to the pot. Add beef stock, oregano, pepper, tabasco, spaghetti sauce and noodles. Add chopped parsley. Simmer until celery and carrots are tender ( 20 to 30minutes)

Awww Gert! I'm sorry! We will go with ya in 2012!! (Is it too early to start a new thread?! ) I figure at least by then we will know what both of the new ships will be doing... (Oh and I'm an early evening drinker....so you got my permission to start!) I mixed up both the Chocolatini and the Blushing Cosmo mixes to take to my neighbors TS party on Sunday. Took a lot of vodka to do both and I am torn about taking both. The RSVP's are only about 50/50...so don't know if the ones that are coming will be my best drinkers? It's an out-of-pocket expense that I don't know will pay off... Oh, and I do not think this wedding is anywhere near where you lived in PA...it's just a lot of backroads to get there.

Betsy - the soup sounds yummy...just might try it sometime! Thanks for sharing!

Well, got all of the downstairs windows weather stripped...will hit the upstairs tomorrow maybe.

I just read some info on the Hawaii resort for 2011...my plan is to do this for our 25th anniversary, which is in just a few short (12 ) years. I think I need to start an envelope now.

DH heard from HR, he didn't get the job, but he didn't not get it, LOL! They have put the new position on hold because of the economy, and they are cutting budgets, etc... Probably not the best time to create a new director's position in the compnay. Oh well!

I'm sorry Peter! DH works for a local lumber yard that depends on the construction industry to do well...so you don't have tell us about stuff being put on hold! No raises this year, no company picnic, no bonuses etc. On top of me being laid off for 9 months now it's really hurt!

Well, no school again here today (some sort of teacher convention or something). THIS is why we don't get out of school until mid-June and we don't have that week off in Feb that ya'll have in NE!! I have put DS to work on his tables & graphs for that survey project due Monday. He is not allowed to play until he gets all of his data compiled and his whole project DONE! It could be a l-o-o-o-n-g day!

Good luck Johnna! Colt is playing a team that killed him earlier in the season, so thats not looking good. Cam is playing our neighbors team so, hoping we finally get a win for his team. This would be the one to win.

Then Sunday is the beginning of my crazy 2 weeks, starting with a Baby Shower for my cousin.
