annie - kate did that..had mostly A's and at progress report time had a C because of 2 0's..I was livid..told her there was no excuse for just not turning in a paper..LUCKILY, the teacher let her complete them!

Annie- I faxed IC years ago. Whether we are interested or not, I still expect to get a call from IC. For the last round of Mexico cruises, they were calling people that faxed in two months before release and we never heard anything. I'm not alone in questioning DCL's reservation procedure... but there's not much I can do about it.

Our fire situation is better - knock wood. It's supposed to be 90 here today (at the coast) and then cool way down. Hopefully the fire in Camp Pendeldon will get under control so the skies clear up.


I've had a few of Dougie's teachers tell me that "forgetting" to turn in work is not uncommon. It would drive me nuts that he would DO the work and then let it sit in his notebook. It made me feel better to hear it is "typical" expecially of boys but it still irritated me.

Babs and I are down with what I think is the flu. Geez. Health please!

Oh yeah...this just not turning things in thing drives me NUTS! I thumped him on the back of the head this morning when I saw THAT! Worst thing here is that they will let them turn things in a day late but it's an automatic 1 letter grade cut! So he pretty much has to do 'A' work in order to pull out a 'B'. Now he HAS to do this project tonight on top of his other work to get credit for it. Another problem is that he doesn't take the initiative to ask the teacher to turn it in...he waits for me to find the missing grade on Edline and throw a hissy fit. He still doesn't "get" that in MS I will know daily when he screws up! I think THIS time what happened was he had several hours of homework over the weekend (which I think is insane for them to have hours and hours of it) but so I think he finally just got to the point where he just wanted to say he was DONE. So that's what he did. Once he started playing I asked him if he was done, he said yes and I let it go, assuming that since he'd worked on it for a couple of hours on Sat AND on Sun that he WAS done. My fault - I didn't make him SHOW ME everything and go thru his planner to compare it. He is becoming sneaky! He didn't work on his survey at school yesterday so I took his privileges away from him last night...

So Phyllis / RJ - just curious...did you fax in your requests years ahead for this past summer too or was that just a lucky fluke that ya'll got your suites? I swear it's gonna be a miracle if we can afford to get on one of those new boats in 2011 or 2012. I WAS on a good track to save up and have it covered until I got laid off. My measley peasley $1,500 that I got saved up won't get me very far now will it?! I REALLY hope the new ships end up with a couple surprise rooms (like the SPH & secret verandah rooms). I fear we will never be able to afford a balcony EVER at this rate! Gert - any word on your Xmas cruises??

While I had a fax in for the Crouton's and us, we weren't called (were we, RJ?) for Mexco so there is this awesome TA that secured the rooms for our b2b. We couldn't have done it w/o her! flower3: )

Nope nothing on Xmas cruise. Not expecting a quote until next week. Not attempting to secure a suite so no fax to IC. Just have an awesome TA on my side. Asked for both a cat. 8 and cat. 5 quote for both the 11 day and 7 day cruises.

Things are so up in the air here right now I am guessing if the quote does not knock me off of my chair then we will pay the deposits and wait 18 months to see whats what here.

OK. Next time I announce that I am going to spray paint a big box remind me that I should probably PRIME it first! I tested myself on a smaller box first. I was not sure what to do about labels & that clear packing tape they use to seal boxes & put them together. OK, so after my tester I decided to try to remove the labels & tape. Not such a good plan. The labels didn't remove cleanly & the tape left an obvious mark. OK, so 4 coats of paint later.... Yes, I ran out (after the first 2 coats) and had to go back out for a 2nd can. It looks OK from about 20' away! I am anxious now to get it finished and see how it looks. I put down some newspaper in the dining room and put it in there to finish drying good.

I also tore into that darn waterfall today. Had to go out and buy some more landscaping foam...I sure hope I got it fixed this time. I took a LOT of rocks off of it and re-built it after I sprayed this stuff under & around the waterfall pan.

Alright, need to go check on DS...he's still working on this English assignment that he's got to make up...2 hours later

So, I had a good flashback/chuckle today (Sue Ellen if youc an escape from 2010 cruises to read this, you'll appreciate it). I was in the car driving Cam to soccer practice and what song comes on the radio...."come sail away, come sailaway, come sailaway with me...". Brought me right back to Karaoke night. Good times, good times! Cam wanted to know why I was cracking up.

Oh and got my cruise quotes today. And AFTER I picked myself up off da floor... I thought hmmm...how many days do I have to decide!?

Gots to call brother, mom, dad and cousins to see if any of them are still interested.

Maybe tomorrow. Gotta go to soccer practice. Be glad when the season is over. Put Leetle Pirate in bed to see if she might nap before practice...UMM.. that would be a no with a capital N. She is SCREAMING in there. But I am ignoring her. There go more Mommy of the Year points....

Ok, I need to jog everyone's memories...or if you have any pictures could you take a glance. Does anyone remember if I was wearing earings at breakfast on our last morning. I can't seem to find the ones I took on the cruise. I'm not sure where I would have packed them that I didnt unpack them. The only thing I can think of is I wore them, had them on all day at MCO, took them off when I went to bed after 1:00 am at the Hyatt, and then was so ticked off in the morning I forgot about them and left them in the room. Or does anyone have any ideas where I would have packed earrings?

Sue Ellen - are you still swamped or has it slowed down!? I wonder how much the prices have gone up just since the opening? Hummm.... Can I put in a request NOW for a deal on the new ships? LOL... I really hope the new ships have a couple of surprise rooms like the SPH ones & secret verandah ones...I think most ships DO have some sort of obstructed view rooms...hard not to I would think....I want one of those (provided it's sold as a lower cat)! Put me down...probably for a late July or EARLY August cruise....if DS sticks with the summer swim team we really should start planning our vacations for August so he can finish his season. I was bummed that he missed the team photos & such this year while we were gone...

Kinda bad news and ... interesting news:

First, Chris said we can't go to Europe in 2010. So our cat.3 will go to some lucky waitlister. I bet if I reeeeeeeally pushed the point he would say ok but I have to respect the man that makes the money - and if he doesn't feel comfortable making such a big committment for the future, I gotta trust him. He da banker-type dude. (oh, well, I really didn't think we'd go. Can't go w/o some special Peeps! )

SE: how do we get on the list for the new ships? Dougie and Johnnie are graduating that year! Two cat.1's please.

Second, a classmate of Bab's is gettin' on da Magic tomorrow. I lent the mom my Passporter and she read it cover to cover. They are in 5020- secret porthole, yes? Anyway, when the mom first started thinking about taking this trip (first cruise, first family vacation) she asked around the school ot see if anyone knew anything. She said every single person told her to talk to me! Apparently I am "a wealth of information" - who knew????

She forgot to get pirate stuff and called to ask if the kids would feel left out if they weren't dressed. What say you all? My kids always dressed. I never looked around to see what % of people were or were not dressed up. If the kids will feel weird I really should call her and give her a head's up so she can run to Target or wherever. Thoughts?
