Dang kids.![]()
We're headed for 103 today and 105 tomorrow, so RJ glad you got that unit fixed!! We thought we would be tough and actually turned the AC off last week but its back on now.![]()
OK add me to the "crazy school mom" list. Between GATE (advanced placement) tests and STAR (CA state mandated tests) scores I am ready to home school Ryan. OK not really I would lock her in a closet and that would not accomplish much, but wow its hard not to get caught up in it when your parental expectations aren't met. Are my expectations too high, do I overestimate DDs abilities , is she really struggling as these test scores indicate, or is she slipping through the cracks? Apparently no one at the school can answer me; not her 2nd grade teacher last year, not the principal....so it all rests, unfortunately for her, on her 3rd grade teacher. Our schools test scores were HORRIBLE in my opinion so someone here had better be esplaining those scores to me before I totally flip. I even started calling the charter and magnet schools in Tracy to see if anyone has room for a curly headed 3rd grader. Apparently that answer is "no".![]()
I leave our AC on most of the time 'cuz of allergies...AND I can't sleep at night 'cuz the next door neighbors outside AC units are on the side of the house under our bedroom window and I can't sleep. DS's bedroom is on the front of the house and he doesn't like hearing the cars go by...It's just easier to leave the AC on...
Must be that time of year...we got our MSA scores this week (Maryland's standardized tests). DS always scores in the highest category so I've never worried too much about them. I don't know how our new MS will fare (I think OK) but our old Elem. school was always pretty good I think (67% Proficient and 31% Advanced for Math and 30% Proficient / 62% Advanced for Reading). I was never disappointed in those scores anyway.
(Should I have been?
) I am sure big sis's scores are OK - like Cheri said, we all know she's one smart cookie!OK, so we went back to the Orthodontist this afternoon. I thought he was just going to remove the old glue today and discuss our options. But so he had some plastic braces that blend in with the teeth and some coated arc (or are they arch) wires that we decided to try. He also had some white gold wires. I wasn't sure which would be best.
So we decided to go with the coated ones for now and they went ahead & put them back on. He gave me his cell phone number too and said if we have any swelling over night to come in ASAP in the morning. If these don't work then he said he could order those invisible wires - but they're apparently very expensive and he doesn't keep them in stock. So we'll cross our fingers these wires do the trick. He said not to brush them too hard so as to not scratch the coating off!
I was like "I doubt we'll have to worry about THAT"!

GRRRR!! This whole ortho thing is a nightmare!
She said they cannot put it back on today, but can only clip the wire back to the next bracket and we will have to get it replaced next week.
