DIS-functional Wonder Peeps Part III revisited

I will volunteer myself as a test subject. I will test out all samples of vino in the glasses ;)

Hey somebody has to do it....I give give give I tell ya! :lmao:

Hey, I can help you out with that!!:goodvibes You don't have to do it all by yourself! (That's what friends are for!)

Two of everything? One must be mine because I have received NOTHING:mad:

your stuff would go to your house..Mine is all addressed to Rick Donahue or Kaitlyn Donahue..really..it is getting ridiculous!

so, I think I am going to become a Publix baker..less stress icing cakes all day!! Of course, I will gain all my weight back, but hey..small price to pay for stress free!!

Sounds like a fun job, Betsy. I dont think I could do it without licking my fingers though. ;) Do you think they fire for that?

I'm still trying to 'get it' myself, Annie. :upsidedow They have 3 teams, 6-2, 6-3 and 6-4 (why no 6-1???) . Those teams are broken up into 2 or 3 classes each. The main subjects are taught between the teachers on their team only. So he will have 2 teachers for the main stuff, Math, English, etc... The special classes (Spanish, woodworking, computers, sewing, etc...) will have the teachers that only teach those. But in general the stuff he will have trouble with will be with the teachers on his team. I heard the other one is tough but sweet, but Ive heard nothing good about his homeroom teacher who he will be with the most. When a teacher moves her son out of the class, it cant be good. ;)

Ok, so about 1 am this morning I get up to turn the AC down cuz it was stuffy. It turns on and has continued to run since. The only problem is that it's just blowing air...not cold air!

It has been over 100 degrees each day....cr@p, guess I'll be making a call at precisely 8am. I hear sucking sounds coming from Beano's wallet :scared: please-o-please let it not be too bad!

ugh!!
it was so hot yesterday our ac was not blowing very cold..the attic just too hot!! But it did finally start cooling after the sun went down..
I bumped the automatic thermostat to make it 82 today instead of 85 when we aren't home..it works too hard to try to cool after 5pm!!

Oh that stinks, RJ. I hope its not too much of an expense.

And if so, you can just send some of that heat our way. We were in the low 50s this morning...Im wearing sweats! I cant stand it! Summer is too short as it is. I should not be wearing sweats in August! Oh and I wore socks to bed last night. We had such little summer this year. Would you believe it never hit 90 all of August?

Thats it, Im coming to visit. :goodvibes My house is 70 degrees.

we can switch!!

I would love for it to be 70 in my house!! I love when it is cold and I can wear long jammies and socks!!!

RJ!!:scared: Got my fingers crossed for ya'll!!!

CamColt...I hear ya on the temp thing!! We've had a pretty nice stretch the past week but TODAY we're expecting to get Fay's leftovers so we are now overcast and I just went out to the P.O. and it was only 68 degrees at 12:30!!:scared1: I'm thinkin' this pool party / BBQ thing for DS's new swim league is not gonna be such a good turnout this evening! It is supposed to stay in the 70's for a couple of days I think - that is WAY too early to be that fall-like!! I think our "average" temp is still supposed to be something like 85 until Sept. anyway!:sad2:

The good news: fixed the AC for less than $200 :thumbsup2

The bad news: we need a new AC unit :sad2:

Love the programmable thermostats! Our attic one gets pretty hot too I think. I don't have it going up that high during the day tho I don't think... It does seem like it has to work extra hard to cool down if it's been turned up too high. I have not re-set the thermostats by too much ever since I got laid off - but I DO have the one for the first floor set on like 77 or something for the summer. That can still get stuffy when it's really hot. Likewise, I didn't turn the heat up for the winter while I was home so it goes WAY down when it's cold. That's why I sit here with a blanket and finger tip cut out gloves in the winter!:rotfl:

It's hot here too - and muggy. Florida muggy. Like "start sweating when you go get the mail" muggy. Ick. I'm stubborn though and just tell the kids to crank up the ceiling fans. No A/C!

Isn't it funny how we all want what we dont have. I really should be living in Florida.

Im with you Cheri. We have no AC in the house except a portable window unit that we put up in the play room usually from like June -September. I only use it when I run or sometimes we will put it on if we are really having incredibly hot weather. This year its only been on for my running. :headache:

And I have to tell you guys, I have succeeded...in either getting Cam a better class or being blacklisted for the next 6 years at the middle school. We heard back from the principal and he was able to make the change (I guess some kid on another team moved). I am SO relieved!

at 7am it jumps to 85 (now i made it 82) and then at 5pm it drops to 76

Downstairs cools pretty quick but our bedroom, (on the east side go figure) doesn't get really cool till about 8pm

the kids are facing west but right next to the unit, so they get cool right away!

Dang kids.:lmao:

We're headed for 103 today and 105 tomorrow, so RJ glad you got that unit fixed!! We thought we would be tough and actually turned the AC off last week but its back on now.:thumbsup2

OK add me to the "crazy school mom" list. Between GATE (advanced placement) tests and STAR (CA state mandated tests) scores I am ready to home school Ryan. OK not really I would lock her in a closet and that would not accomplish much, but wow its hard not to get caught up in it when your parental expectations aren't met. Are my expectations too high, do I overestimate DDs abilities , is she really struggling as these test scores indicate, or is she slipping through the cracks? Apparently no one at the school can answer me; not her 2nd grade teacher last year, not the principal....so it all rests, unfortunately for her, on her 3rd grade teacher. Our schools test scores were HORRIBLE in my opinion so someone here had better be esplaining those scores to me before I totally flip. I even started calling the charter and magnet schools in Tracy to see if anyone has room for a curly headed 3rd grader. Apparently that answer is "no".:headache:

We have A/C. I just refuse to let Babs turn it on. She'd have the house at 50 degrees all year long if I let her. ("I have to be cold Mom! Yeah, go jump in the pool.)

glad you got Cam's schooling thingy figured out to your satisfaction. Now remember, no whining if he doesn't like these teachers;) (you can always come whine here, but we reserve the right to say somethin' )

I hate those state tests. If your kid is at "grade level" and tests ok, he/she is deemed "succeeding" and therefore the school district doesn't have to shell out the time and $ to look into what's really going on with the child evenif the parent knows something is wrong. Now, if said child does poorly on state tests, schools say, "that's only one indicator and doesn't always accurately show what your child really knows".

Are Carrot's grades generally ok? Is she at grade level? Expectations for each grade are going up. And of course there is the fact that teachers can be stupid and totally miss an obviously brilliant child because children learn in lot's of different ways. I mean, c'mon we all know she is one SMART cookie!

Read your school district's guidelines online. Our district HAS to give you a timely IEP if you request one. At that meeting the principal, the teacher and usually the speech teacher and/or special ed teacher come and you all really discuss how your child is doing. The teacher will say all is well. It is then that you ask specific questions and don't let them brush you off.
