What a good idea , Anne! I hadnt thought of reusing the FE. I certainly will now.
The original delays were because of weather in NY, where our flight was coming from. As aggravating as that it, its understandable. But then once it got in they didnt have a crew. At 8:15 we were told the crew would be there in 1/2 hour. At 9:00 we were given the crew excuse again and then it was they would be there at 10:30. They showed up and the plane was ready, but for some reason in the middle of getting everyone new passes "Cancelled" came up on her screen. She said it was just a miscommunication because New York (I guess thats where the main offices are run) didnt know they had the crew and she was trying to get it straightened out. Finally they told her they wouldnt reinstate the flight. That is what has me mad, this was thier miscommunication error, not the weather in the end. But we are home and made it safely, so I guess I cant be too upset. ;)

Katie! 29 hours! OMG. I'm betting that you guys drive next time! How are the boys? Did they have meltdowns?

This is reminding me of the very first trip that Daryl & I took when we started dating. We booked a 4 day weekend in the Bahamas thru American Airlines vacations. We had to transfer in Miami to a puddle jumper. We had to wait in this tiny terminal out on the runway. I think it was supposed to be an early evening flight. Well, so a BEEEEG storm came thru that basically closed down the whole airport. LOTS of rain & lightening. So we were delayed until about 10:00 or so. They finally start boarding - we had to WADE barefoot thru about 6" of water to get to the plane steps. I think it probably only held about 30 people. Little thing. No assigned seats. They went thru & made people move around to try to balance the load. We were sitting just in front of a propeller & since the plane was so small I could see the ones on either side. I kept telling Daryl that the one on the right was not rotating at the same speed as the one on the left. Sure enough. They ended up cancelling the flight because it wasn't right. By this time it was almost 11:00 and they couldn't fly in or out after 11:00 because of the sound laws.:headache: I started keeping notes & taking names & putting times down right then just in case.

They DID put us up in a nearby hotel & give us $10 vouchers for breakfast BUT they said they were putting us on this Continental flight the next morning at like 9:00 am or something. I had serious doubts but they said they do it all the time. OK, so we get up early & we get to the airport at like DAWN and check our bags in with Continental and proceed to the gate. (Remember, this was A LONG TIME AGO before security was much of anything and you could just walk around the airport.) Well, they just laughed at us and said American had no right to do that. They said we could wait standby and they would call us in alphabetical order if there were any seats open.:rotfl2: UHHH. Hello. The other 30 displaced people were also there - my last name started with an 'S' and of course Daryl's was a 'W' so we didn't get on the flight. But our luggage DID!!:rotfl: We went back & forth ALL DAY between the main terminal & that little dumpy one. NOBODY at American would do anything to help us. Nobody. Around 3:00 or so I LOST IT in that dumpy little terminal. I screamed and cried and stomped and they didn't know WHAT HIT THEM. I was like "we were supposed to be there yesterday. This is one of your air / hotel vacations that we booked. I wanted everybody sitting there to know what we'd been thru. DID ANYBODY CALL THE FREAKING HOTEL in Nassau to say where we were?" We had excursions booked (of course) and were not there. It was only a 4 day weekend and we'd missed the first whole day. I caused such a scene they put us on the next little plane. They suddenly "found" 2 seats.:rotfl2:

On the way home we transferred in Raleigh - they called us up at the gate & said "we heard you had a little difficulty before so we're upgrading you to first class". :rotfl: Like spending 45 minutes sitting up there was gonna fix it. When we got back home I wrote a 2 page letter & sent it to Dallas. I documented every name, every flight number and time...every conversation we had. They sent us travel vouchers worth $250 each that were good for a year. We saved them and used them toward our honeymoon tickets. But we joke that we will never, ever fly thru Miami again!:goodvibes

You have to be able to get some sort of compensation from them. If not, then be sure to post your experience somewhere for the world to read!! I am glad you're home safe tho!

Whew! Home.
Cassie hasn't stopped crying. Well, maybe for a few minutes. She gets a little hysterical and what started with "I miss everyone" has turned into "I won't see anyone for another 4 years until Bob graduates college!!!!"

Timbo went straight for his guitar and I am ignoring the luggage in the garage. Maybe the gremlins with unpack and start the laundry...

Thanks so much for all of the fun (could have passed on the hangovers though) and time together.

If any of my pix turn out I will upload them to Photobucket. Sarah, I know 699 of those 700 shots will be fantastic. Please to be sharing.

The Croutons are now home as well. Our flight was delayed a little less than 2 hours, so it was a long travel day, but otherwise trouble-free and all appears well at the home front. Will post pics soon and start to work on video thingy too! For now... off to bed. :faint:

Cheri - Don't worry about the hangovers. In the DVD version of our vacation, everyone is happy and carefree all the time! ;)

Coming soon to a DVD player near you!!:happytv:

yes..Wonder Crack!!!

Sorry Ophie..SE posted right after you and I just saw her name...naughty!! Naughty!! Betsy!!
i need a spank!!

Im glad you guys all made it home safely too.

I don't know about you guys, but I think Im sailing this week. I hardly felt the ship move at all while we were on it, but now trying to work here I am swaying all around. I didnt feel it the past 2 days, probably because I was too mad to feel anything, LOL, but OMG! I have it bad today.

I put a link to the pictures in my signature...i need to do the rest of the cruise now!

Hi guys!!!! :grouphug:

Just a quick pop-out from under the mountain of laundry that has to be done!! :laundy:

Loved our vacation and it's sad to not know when it'll happen again :sad1:

Love all the pics so far....keep em' coming! :thumbsup2

My love to you all

The quake was centered in L.A. and "felt" as far away as San Diego, which I hope means it didn't bother the Knebel peeps at all. We're too far away for it to have been felt here. (It was a 5.4)

So the ground is not moving... now if the ship would just stop rocking, I'd be fine! :)

Mrs. K said the earth did in fact move!!

why are you all rocking?? now after the Halloween cruise..THAT was rocking

beano..did you finish that video yet???

ahha ha ha...seriously..i am KIDDING!!

Also was just popping by to see that everyone was OK, only seen a bit of footage on the news. Hope you are all safe!!!!!

Beano, I love the quote in your signature!!!!!

We are fine. Babs is still a wee bit spooked, especially after the aftershocks that I "forgot" to mention. Haven't heard from my dad yet. He works downtown LA but since there is no report of damage I am not worried.

Welcome home, Phyllis! Here's an earthquake for ya'.

first: fire, then: the "pestilence" on CC - kept eatin' on some of us, then: earthyquake. If I see a swarm of locusts or 7 horses anywhere, I'm gonna be really worried.

Only 3-4 more loads of :laundy: and about 20 pairs of shoes to put away and I'm back in action. Except for this nasty cold I woke up with.

 Glad to hear the CA peeps are OKAY!! That's an experience I hope to never have!

I am still not done unpacking or doing laundry. I have figured out what's been eating all of my plants...Gypsy Moths!! :headache: It's very hot here this week so I have been alternating with working on inside stuff and going outside to gather cocoons and spray Liquid Sevin on everything (along with various other pesticides). I also found some sort of scale stuff on my cherry tree...so I pruned out a dead branch that looked like it could spread this stuff and put some disease control stuff on it and used a Fungicide to spray it down. I hope I don't lose the whole tree! When inside I have been concentrating on going thru the 838 pics we took (I have a total now). I have some 8x10's in a pre-paid Shutterfly account that expire on 8/2 so I am trying to decide what to order as enlargements - the county fair deadline is next week too...so if I am going to enter anything I need to get them ordered pronto so I can mount them for entry. Right now I just have everything in one gigantic folder. When I'm done editing and ready to upload to Shutterfly I will put all the peeps pics in one album. I haven't uploaded anything there yet...I might do a few later...

what pests???

tell Babs to come back to Florida..we have no earthquakes and hurricanes give you plenty of warning to pack up and head for zee hills!

Yikes, Cheri! That must be scary!

Hehehe, I have the TV on in the background here and a commercial for Beano is on. Funny to hear that when talking to the peeps. :rotfl:

But anyway, my actual laundry is done, washed dried and put away, BUT all the other clean clothes and souvenirs and shoes, toiletries, etc... have to be unpacked and put away. Thats the killer.

Oh and our pool is a lovely shade of green and Peter broke a hose on it this morning before he went to work so hes just starting to work on it now. I'm not sure if it will be ready for his party on Saturday. But Cheri, Im with you. With my luck the past 3 days Im watching out. ;)

Almost, Bets. Coming along nicely. I should be done in about 2 days, or 8 weeks... whichever is longer.
