I have never had a Dirty Martini and want to try one...hoping for a chance to do it with ya'll in 3 months! :rotfl2: I will be a dirty virgin! :lmao: (Wonder if that will get bleeped out by the DIS?!):confused3

YAY! :cheer2: FE info! Let the planning begin!:goodvibes

I'm older so yes, I remember the gas lines of the 70's...Mom had a yellow '71 VW Super Beetle (which she got when she FINALLY sold her '57 Chevy - OMG if she'd have KNOWN to keep that thing!) Yes. I remember riding around in a '57 Chevy!!:scared1: Dad had a Buick Century...with the Landau top!:rotfl: Cheapest gas in memory bank...hummm...for some reason I'm thinkin' 99 cents or something.... I got gas the other day when I went out 'cuz I'd run out pretty much 2 tanks going to WV and back and hadn't filled up since then. I go to this "Freestate" cheapy place 'cuz it's 20 cents cheaper than the regular "name brand" gas stations...(generic gas...pay first...cash only). ALWAYS a big line at all 6 pumps since it's so much less...I use the middle grade...I think it was around $3.40ish / gal.

Johnna - I missed your VMK message!:sad2: DS was on there....he said he goes all over the place - never stays in any one place. I asked him about the Haunted Mansion - he said he does go in there a lot 'cuz he's got a lot of points to use or something 'cuz he's won 100 games or something. Since I don't play I don't know what that means. He has 2 characters he plays with - lately he's been mostly using "Funny Whee" but sometimes he is "Cookie Guy Cookie".:confused3

I have not decided if I am bringing my pirate costume or not. This is what I have:

I bought it in 2006, and have debated on bringing it on the last couple of cruises, but still have not done so.

How many of you are dressing up for Pirate night?

That's cute SE....I think our CA gals are doing the costume thing! Since I'm not working right now I have decided I have to be practical and not purchase a costume but rather I am going to dress in the "theme" of things with sort of a wenchy look. I found a cheap black cotton tiered skirt on sale for $16 at Target and a white sort of peasant looking type top on sale at Kohl's for $20. Both of which I can wear again - esp. probably the top. Neither were EXACTLY what I wanted to find but the price was right!:goodvibes Speigel had a skirt I liked better but they have been out of my size and don't appear to be restocking it so this one will have to do. I also have a bunch of colored bead necklaces we collected from the Pirate & Princess parties we went to at WDW so those will be my jewels! OH, and I have a pirate mickey ears hat to wear. DH and DS will probably just wear their pirate head gear stuff we got last summer for the P & P party...

I remember gas was .99 when I got my lisence in 1988....and that was a lot to me then. :rotfl2:

Thanks for the info, Cheri! I'm thinking I better start looking. I'm wondering if lobstah (as we call it)from Boston can get on the plane. Maybe I could steal 10 lobsters from the galley. Or 10 Sam Adams from a bar? :rolleyes1 Baked beans? Cream Pie? Hmmm????

Wait...I got it! Dirty Water..."Love that dirty water.....Boston your my home". Will FEs hold dirty water?

Do you all remember odd and even gas days in the 1970's?? As I recall both of our family's cars were the same - odd numbered I believe - I remember waiting in line.

Prices though?? I do not remember.

And...um.. Cheri...pickled cactus!??:scared:

Must think of something creative for FE exchange. Cheri stole my idea.

Man RJ stole my pirate wench costume, Cheri stole my FE giftie idea. I am gonng stay home.

:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Ok no I'm not.
Well, if you like the fish taco idea that much... I might suggest putting the white sauce on the side though. Would tend to get plane all stinky after a few hours. And there's the the food posioning.

We are pirate:

Yes SE, please to be bringing pirate outfit on cruises! :thumbsup2
yes yes. What she said!

Wait...I got it! Dirty Water..."Love that dirty water.....Boston your my home". Will FEs hold dirty water?

ooh lobstah! OOOHH MY FAVORITE IS BOSTON CREAM PIE!!!! I always asked for that as my birthday cake.

And, alas, no, FEs are not water tight.

BTW - things shouldn't be too heavy or too big either. Pockets are approx. 6x8 inches so stuff needs to fit INSIDE. I would hate for curious fingers to see something interesting.

Have there been issues with ppl thiefing from the FEs?

okay... does anyone recall where RJ posted her pirate wench self-portrait? I've been back 30-odd pages and didn't see it.

wait... why'm I by myself?

this could be bad...

someone stop the insanity before it begins...

this is your last warning...

I am making my Dad's bean soup this afternoon...Navy beans and ham..the house smells pretty good right now and it has another 3 hours to go

I haven't decided about pirate night...do they have a pirate bride? (ok..i know..the bride stuff is getting outta hand, but I have waited a really long time to be a "bride")

Betsy please to be sharing the recipe!!

And - yes check 3 wishes dot com - remember - if you wear pants we won't be looking at yer bloomers!!:thumbsup2

What about the Elizabeth Swann costume? ;)

i forgot to say the reason I am cooking the soup is we have a late season cold front coming thru tonight..suppose to be in the 70's tomorrow and the low 50's tomorrow night!! Brr!!

Soak 2lbs navy beans in 6-8c of water overnight..drain
Dice one large onion and saute in 2 tbsp butter amd 1/4 tsp pepper till golden
add drained beans and a gallon of cold water
Bring to a boil, remove for heat and allow to sit for 1 hr
Add ham bone (i use ham shoulder hocks of I don't have a bone) and simmer for 3 hours..remove bone and chopped any large ham pieces
I like to mash the beans as it simmers..makes it thicker..you have lots of leftovers and the more it cooks, the more the beans breakdown and become pasty...that is when it is my very favorite!!
I have half'd this before..but since I take my lunch everyday, it is great for quick reheating

Oh!! I can be Elizabeth!!!

I found a pirate bride, but they no longer sell it!!
