So went to BIG parents meeting at the middle school last nite while DH took DS to swimming... 4 elem. schools dumping into one middle school!! The school just opened 3 yrs. ago - this year's 8th grade opened it 3 yrs ago in 6th grade. Built to hold about 900-950 I think. Gonna have 1,200 next year with 8 portables! :scared1: It will be the 2nd largest middle school in the county! Because of the size they will have to run 4 lunch periods. 7 classes rotating thru 5 (70 min.) periods per day - so they will have ea. class 3-4 times / week. No foreign language in THIS school for 6th grade 'cuz there's no room for it! 7th grade they drop "reading" and gain a 2nd elective.

I stayed after & talked to the guy who's in charge of this "arts rotational" stuff. He said honestly that they would not have room to offer the Music Tech. class to 6th grade so if they pick "arts" they will for sure get the Home Ec one, gen. art, imagineering tech and then the 4th pick would get split between the computer class & tv studio by a random computer assignment. I think that on his own, DS is going to pick band for next year tho. Then in 7th grade when he gains another elective he can decide if he wants to stay in it or not. It will be a big change to go from having band for about 30 min. once a week to 70 min. 3 or 4 times a week! :rotfl: I figure he will know by the end of 6th grade if he wants to stick with it or not!!

SE: from what I'm hearing there is only one brunch (on the 2nd CC day) so if we want brunch, that's the day we gotta go. Yes?

Sorry Annie - the guy AT Chipotle told me that it comes from the cabeza ("Hey you have to do something with that part. You can't waste it.") I just can't wrap my mind (or mouth) around that. But if'n you can, more power to ya' I guess. Just means more broccoli and salad for me :flower3:

OK - so silly question here...what TIME is brunch usually?! That might also affect if we go or not?! Is it like 10:00ish? Later? Those pictures with the pasta looked like LUNCH food?! I thought a brunch was both breakfast and lunch? We never go to them....I couldn't tell you the last time we ate something out for breakfast that didn't include a McDonald's sausage, egg & cheese McGriddle and a Hash Browns!:rotfl2: We had one nice sit-down breakfast on the Magic last time in Lumiere's...I remember I had a tasty Eggs Benedict....and yes - that would've been the LAST time I had Eggs Benedict! LOL...

:scared:

Palo brunch has a little of just about everything...one of my favorite meals on the ships. :thumbsup2

:yay: Me!! Me!! Pick me!! I want to go to Palo Brunch!!:yay:

But yes, please tell me the scheduling of this. Will it interfere with Mommy time at the beach??

Cheri - typically 'cabeza' meat is cheek meat. Not brains. That is sesso. So it is relatively safe to eat what they call 'cabeza' 'round these parts. Large establishments don't tend to serve sesso at all - it does not pass inspection when passed off as 'cabeza'. Oh and stay away from lengua unless you want your food to lick you back.:scared:

But ifn you are happy will eating cow food like grass and whatnot more power to you.:rotfl: ;) You can have my share of the veggies.

And what is AT Chipotle?? And check your PM.

well, that's not exactly what they serve... it's not exactly scrambled eggs and bacon either. It is more lunchy food but it's sooooo good that you won't care. There is just about everything - except whipped cream. The bowl will be missing :rolleyes1

I WANNA GO TO BRUNCH SUE ELLEN, PULEEEEZZZEE?

I had Eggs Florentine..it was sooooo good!!

and it had spinach..so it was healthy!! :P

Did you CalifornIA peeps see the Lakers/Suns game last night? Finally a fantastic NBA game. :cool1:

:yay: Me!! Me!! Pick me!! I want to go to Palo Brunch!!:yay:

Yes! It sounds delish but need to know more about timing! It's sounding like it might be a little later than what we would want to do....but not even going to bring it up to DH until I know more about the time! I can see why it would be better on a "sea day" than a CC day!:goodvibes I know we'll be wanting our beach time by mid-day!! (Hummm...where's that baby oil...)

Betsy - the eclipse was VERY cool indeed....we had Tivo'd AI and kept pausing to check on it every so often.... It had flurried earlier and was cloudy so we didn't think we'd get to see it - then all of sudden - POOF! It cleared off!;)

Lunar eclipse: :thumbsup2

Basketball game: we don't watch basketball

Palo brunch on a CC day: bummer, but it's the only chance....Beano is still not sold on the idea of missing time on CC for it

Who is ready for a "Welcome Aboard" tasty treat? ;)

That sounds like a good idea......and who cares what other people think! :rotfl2:

Ditto.

Lunar eclipse very cool.

We don't watch basketball either. OK we didn't but then for some unknown reason DH started watching the Warriors?! Probably my most least favorite pro sport to watch. I would even rather watch curling:rotfl:

Hey! My welcome aboard treat did not look like that one!

And let's send Beano and the rest of the scout team (read men) ahead at CC and go to brunch!! They can set up. Reserve hammocks. Chase interlopers away!

OOh that's a good idea. Send men first. Not gonna happen though. We could go out to CC early in the morning and stake our claim (like all the bad people who "reserve" pool chairs at 6:00am) and then come back -having had our exercise- and eat brunch. HA! That isn't going to happen either.

Solar eclipse, huh? guess you have to have clear sky to see it. Icky yucky cloudy day. Rain. No eclipse for us.

CamColt will get to see the sun today but it will still be chilly. Hope she packed some sweaters.

Oh, and, could I get a plate or two of those yummy petite fours?

If CamColt didn't pack sweaters she will have to buy DL sweatshirts!:goodvibes Hope they're having fun! It was only 20 here this morning...and I'm sure no better in Boston - so "some sun and chilly" would HAVE to be better!:) To top that off we are expecting snow, freezing rain and "significant icing" tonight into tomorrow!:scared: If I was a betting woman I'd say there will be no school here tomorrow! Now that the daycare place has changed its policy if it's closed it will be DS's first full day at home alone 'cuz I will still need to go to work (you know the receptionist will not be in)!:rotfl: I was planning to leave him home alone on Good Friday tho anyway as that's another day where everything except work is closed. So, we'll just call this a pre-test!

OK, so next subject...back to the timing for this Palo Brunch thing! How do you know what time it will be offered from-to and how do we decide what time is best? How does one dress for this? Is it dressy casual (like dockers & capris or dressier)? I am thinking DH is not going to want to wear a jacket & tie just so he can eat lunch! He's OK with a tie for dinner but that's DINNER!:rolleyes1

Cheri - DS picked band for his elective! All on his own! :thumbsup2
