Dis Exclusive Viva Italia 9/16 - 9/24/2014

I'm "aircraft shopping" right now. Recently we flew on both Delta A330-300 and 767 with lie-flat seats. By far the A330-300 was the better seat. So, I'm going to try to find a flight with that aircraft, or a 777.

Are you aware of SeatGuru? I've found it to be pretty accurate. http://www.seatguru.com

Why shop for aircraft when you can shop for seats?

We are flying us airways both ways. Pittsburgh to Charlotte and then Rome, Venice to Philadelphia then Pittsburgh:thumbsup2

Our return flight is also US Airways from Venice to Philadelphia and then on to Columbus. On the way to Rome, we're flying through JFK and get in early Monday.

I am starting to look into Florence now. We are there on a Sunday and it doesn't look like much is scheduled on that day. I'm wondering if alot of the shops will be closed. There are several tour companies that offer a wine tasting and tour of the Chianti region in a small group (8 person van), so I am thinking about doing that on Sunday because I would like to see some of the Tuscan countryside (although I am very glad not to be staying in the Tuscan prison). We did something similar in Salzburg and it was really nice!

We just booked our return flight from Venice on Delta (1:10pm flight).

Venice to JFK to Orlando.

We now have a ride home. :thumbsup2

Laurie, I just finished booking the adventure for the boss and family and extended family and mother-in-law's family.:faint: I have several leads for transportation and wineries in Tuscany. Specifically, San Giamingio (sp?). As things settle down with end of school, and get closer to their trip, I'll have more info.

Sounds intriguing. I will hold off!

Laurie,
This sounds interesting to us too. Have you seen the specific itinerary for that Sunday we are in Florence yet - if so can you point me to it? Having been to the Tuscan prison and survived, I didn't think that ABD would give us a full free day and not have something planned.

Flights are booked! :yay:

We arrive in Rome about 11 am on the 14th. We leave VCE about 1 pm on the 24th.

Here's the itinerary from the Dreams Unlimited site. For Day 6 (Sunday), we have the Palazzo Vecchio VIP tour and optional Uffizi museum, but lunch, afternoon, and evening are on our own. On the day before, we are on our own for the rest of the day after lunch.

Sounds awesome! It will be fun to see and be immersed in Florence and no Tuscan prison

Because we think that there is so much to see and do in and around Florence, we have left more free time in "our" Adventure than there is in the regular ABD Adventure.

Besides the wine tour....Pisa is approximately an hour away. We have been on a trip where two families hired a van and driver and traveled to Pisa to see the Tower.

There are several options for this looking to venture out.

If you have not.....I strongly recommend Dan Brown's book INFERNO. It's almost a travel guide to Florence and Venice. Having been to Florence a few times, I found several things I haven't seen that I am now anxious to visit.

I vote that Kevin take us on Florence Inferno Tour ..:worship:::yes::. I read the book and now I'm going to re read it just to see what I might have missed ..
Who agrees with me that Kevin should be our Inferno guide :wave2:

Totally agree!:cheer2:

Kevin doesn't guide.

Kevin is guided.

:rotfl2:

I hd trouble typing that without laughing.

There are a couple of things we are doing as a group because of INFERNO.

I was going to say that the best "guide" is just to follow Kevin around Florence. Sad to hear Kevin is now "misguided."

This is one of the things I love about ABD trips. You aren't madly rushing from place to place. There's time to enjoy and soak up the atmosphere! I am determined to experience a Tuscan sunset.

Inferno is on my list for summer reading! Brian is really looking forward to Florence for that reason.

There are people that will tell you I have been "misguided" long before this.

Brian has informed me that Kevin will not be guiding me into Louis Vuitton (but he has no idea that there is a favorite pottery shop involved in this trip! I plan to use his dad to distract him!)

Laurie,

Hate to break it to Brian but the Louis Vultton shop is literally right down the block from the hotel in Venice, almost like walking into a gift shop as you get off of a Disney ride.

You would almost have to walk into the canal to miss it.

The pottery shop is incredible, take whatever means necessary to visit!

Wishing you all a great adventure!
