I'm looking at flights and see some that leave around noon that will work for us.

I have used it in 3 different countries in Europe, so I have 3 different adapters. But here is the one I purchased for Italy.

Hmmm. In looking at the "universal" adapter kit that I bought for Australia (and never used) it seems I need a different plug adapter for Italy.

I wonder if the hotels there will provide an adaptor the way our Sydney hotel did.

I never thought to ask. I have two of these same adapters I won't be using. PM me a shipping address and I'll loan them to you.

Appreciate the offer Jack. It looks like these are pretty inexpensive so its probably not worth the postage to mail it back and forth.

We buy 1 adapter and use it on a universal powerstrip. Italy's adapter is different from the other European countries.

I found that the adapter the hotel provided in Australia, combined with my belkin 3-outlet/2-USB port device was all I needed while traveling. But then again, I don't quite bring as much tech as you do Mike.

I was surprised to find that Italy used a different prong configuration from the rest of Europe. Not sure why that was surprising. But, of course, the "universal" adapter I had bought didn't have that particular setup.

Glad you are now officially official!! Catching up on the boards - Brian and I and Brian's dad aren't staying an extra night in Venice either. Our flight leaves around 11:30am.

What airline and where are you flying through? Most of my least expensive options seem to be a hop to Rome and then to the US.

We are in United/Lufthansa (Lufthansa booked thru UA.

IAH to Frankfurt to Rome
Venice to Frankfurt to IAH (w/last leg being United).

I'm "aircraft shopping" right now. Recently we flew on both Delta A330-300 and 767 with lie-flat seats. By far the A330-300 was the better seat. So, I'm going to try to find a flight with that aircraft, or a 777.

We have done the Layflats and the regular seats on the 777 and found the coach seats much more comfortable (especially if one is over 6ft tall.). The Airbus A380 was nice but not as comfy as the 777.

And FWIW, the A319 is the cattle car of Europe.
