Those are universal outlets. They will take US or and of the international plugs. You have to get an adapter for the US plug-end that goes into the wall for the country you are in. The Universal plugs are nice if you have to unplug a lamp to get to a power outlet. This will allow you you to plug-in the lamp into the power strip. This strip is also dual voltage and dual 50/60hz.

That makes a lot of sense. I didn't even think about having to plug in something like a lamp from the room. Do you happen have a link to the adapter you bought for the end that goes into the wall? Thanks for your help.

I have used it in 3 different countries in Europe, so I have 3 different adapters. But here is the one I purchased for Italy.

That is exactly what I bought, so Amazon tells me, on March 24, 2012. Now I'm sad all over again.

Thanks for all the welcome. We are in Maui right now. Will be making travel arrangements after we get back home on Friday. Looking at getting to Rome on Sunday and probably leaving right after the Adventure is over.
